We have a special treat for this mix - an upbeat collection with an ambient house music vibe. I have a folder on my hard drive that is labeled "gentle house music." It contains tracks that have a definite 4-on-the-floor style but aren't hardcore, fill-the-dance-floor tunes. Something like Kiasmos. I have avoided making a mix of these tune because, truthfully, I suck at beat matching. I don't use professional software that would do it for me and I don't have quite the musical ear to pull it off on my own, at least for an entire mix. That's where Johan Kisro and Petter Lindhagen come to the rescue. Johan and Peter record as Dött ljus and they have a new EP coming out on February 5th called Bottna. You can find it here - https://slowcraft.bandcamp.com/album/bottna The EP is on Slowcraft Records which says "the irrepressible energy of their hybrid electronica finds itself subtly grounded in a tenderly ambient melancholy." I was immediately taken by the vibe of the new EP so I was over the moon when Johan suggested doing a mix for LLM. Perfect! I've always wanted a mix that sounds like this. Here's what Johan says about this collection of tracks: "This mix is a collection of songs we love—some of which may have influenced our upcoming EP, Bottna (out February 5th via Slowcraft Records). Bottna is a refuge, a place where anything can become something, where color breaks through the cracks in the pavement, hidden from the intensifying hum of a world unraveling. The songs exist at the intersection of rhythm and droning textures, and we wanted this mix to follow that same path—from fragments to flourish." Thanks to Johan and Peter for curating this excellent mix. Cheers! On today’s Headphone Commute podcast, we’re syndicating an episode of James Murray‘s Slowcraft Radio (episode 4, to be exact), on which this London-based composer and Slowcraft Records label boss showcases some of his favorite pieces. These, of course, include selections released on his own imprint, as well as remixes and collaborations [including one with yours truly] on the extended family of labels, such as Subcontinental, Ultimae, and Home Normal. Among the choices, you’d be happy to hear an Alva Noto cover of The Cure‘s “A Forest”, an excerpt from a beautiful long-form track by An Moku & Stijn Hüwels titled Where We Meet (I’ve got some proper coverage on this release coming up!), and a top pick from our very own album, coming out in just a week, titled Suññatā, on November 17th. This particular episode appeared on October 17th at CAMP, a broadcasting platform for artists offering a “diverse array of audible pleasures,” but for my own taste, I’m not gonna lie, there’s only room for Slowcraft… For a more detailed description, full tracklisting, and more information about this mix, please visit headphonecommute.com

Hosťom prvej epizódy je Lukáš Bulko - Alapastel, ktorý 8 rokov pracoval na svojom sólovom albume Hidden For The Eyes. Počas vývoja nadviazal mnohé spolupráce a podaril sa mu release cez zahraničné vydavateľstvo - anglické Slowcraft Records.
Headphone Commute, Ambientblog and Slowcraft Records are proud to present a unique mix by a colleague and partner in crime, Peter van Cooten, of beautiful works from a beautiful couple: James Murray and Anne Garner --- originally published on Ambientblog --- The inspiration for this mix came after attending separate performances of James Murray and Anne Garner. The music they perform is quite different: James exploring various kinds of abstract experimental electronic soundscapes, Anne performing her poetic emotional songs blending jazz, alternative pop, folk, spectral lullabies and tender neo-classical arrangements. As different as their output may be, it still fits together very well - which is no real surprise knowing that Anne & James are a couple living together, and James produces and contributes towards Anne's music.I wanted to find out how it would work out when mixing some tracks from their past and recent albums together. And I found out it works very well, as you can hear yourself in this mix. It also shows that, if the ingredients match, 0ne plus one can be much more than two!
Kicking off a mix with a track by Arve Henriksen is a sure way to grab my attention. Moving on with familiar pieces by Autistici, Helios, The Green Kingdom, and Field Rotation is a delightful reminder that we all live in the same head space, even with vast distances apart. Rounding up with an exclusive track from his upcoming release on his very own Slowcraft Records out next month, James Murray curates a journey of sound that is clearly personal and special. Please enjoy responsibly and support the featured artists! For full track listing and more information about this mix, please visit headphonecommute.com
