EPISODE 38: Can Jimothy Save Us All? Dying Laughing with Jessimae This week, Jessimae takes a break from the heavy stuff to embrace the wonderfully absurd. From an unbelievable sugar daddy story involving a very alive wife and a dead mouse, to sharks at water parks, AI teachers, Frankie Valli's seemingly immortal touring schedule, and the latest internet grifts, this episode explores the strange corners of modern life with humor, curiosity, and just enough existential dread. Somewhere along the way, one tiny raccoon named Jimothy emerges as humanity's best chance for survival. Because if the world keeps getting weirder... we're going to need him.

EPISODE 37: Holy Shit. I'm Dying, Now What? | Douglas Cartwright Dying Laughing with Jessimae What happens when death stops being a distant concept and becomes part of your daily reality? This week, Jessimae welcomes her longtime friend, former neighbor, author, life coach, and spiritual teacher Douglas Cartwright for one of the most honest conversations ever featured on Dying Laughing. Shortly after being diagnosed with terminal glioblastoma, Douglas shares how the news has transformed his relationship with identity, fear, faith, purpose, and what it truly means to be alive. Together, they explore the difference between surviving and living, discuss why so many of us postpone the lives we really want, and reflect on answers from listeners who were asked one simple question: What would you do if you found out you were going to die? This isn't a conversation about losing hope. It's a conversation about finding it in the time we have left. Doug's Book: Holy Shit! We're Alive! #374 | Most B2B marketers think brand means bigger budgets. This episode shows otherwise. Dave sits down with Ryan Narod, VP of Marketing at Rippling, to talk about what it actually takes to build a brand people recognize in B2B. Ryan walks through the real campaigns behind that shift - from scrappy iPhone videos and webinar promos to high-production customer films and their Super Bowl commercial. Ryan breaks down how he built a content flywheel, why injecting real humans into every piece of content matters, and how they measure brand impact without losing accountability to pipeline. dattrax: Welcome my Fellow Brothers and Sisters to where house music resides. How is life treating you? Are you pursuing your dreams and goals??!! Hi-Five to you!!!____________________Thought that I'd share my super nerdy process for prepping tracks for a DJ gig or a new house mix. ____________________After I first buy and download a new batch of house music tracks from Traxsource or Bandcamp.I usuallv listen to them separatelv for a week or two. Try to get to know and understand them. As I listen to them over and over again, I imagine different combinations with my older house tracks that I have.Incorporating them into my collection.____________________If I'm making a new mix, then I'll start organizing them and adding a bunch of tracks that I'd want to mix with the new ones. If I'm prepping for an upcoming DJ gig, then I'll take the most danceable tracks and put them into one large folder. ____________________Usuallv takes me 4 to 8 hrs to choose and organize for each gig or new mIx. It's a therapeutic ritual and a lot of fun.It sounds boring, but it's not because I'm imagining the different directions that I can take the night or a mix. How do I judge how many total house tracks do I need for my gig? If my set is 3hrs, then 1 know that the avg speed for me is changing a track every three minutes.Other DJs like to play their tracks for 6-7mins each. Everyone has different preferences. So I know that I' probably end up playing 60 tracks give or take, within three hours. Then there's the issue of choice. Not too much or I won't have an overall feel or direction. That's why you see young laptop DJs bring a few thousand tracks and then are all over the place. Then I decide what I feel ike sharing. Track names will pop into my mind. So I go through the folder and move the tracks that I really love into a 'Priority' folder Then I go into a dozen rabbit holes. First, I collect evervthing into one folder. Then I make a priority folder and try to eliminate a lotThen I'll put them into folders according to energy levels.Mellow Vocal. Mellow Bit Harder Vocal Medium Mellow Vocal Medium Dubby Medium InstrumentalMedium level energy have the most ofIfI know thati won't be going harder, then nothing more to organize.Med Bit Harder HypeTwo more everv levels.Depending on the night or mix.Too little choice and I'm going to annoyed instead of having fun.So I give myself 5 to 8 choices per 60 tracks. So let's say the total is 350.You know how many tracks and how many energy levels you want to take them on.Choosing the very first track for your set. That's extremely important. Setting the mood and the expectation. Then just mix, sing and dance!!! Sharing your vision of house with your dancing friends.Interact with the dancers and try to surprise them with your combination choices. For house music. It's al about the combinations.____________________All the best to you and your loved ones. From your friendly neighbourhood Chinaman who LOVES house and LUVS you.May God Bless You and All Who You Love Abundantly

In this episode of Elixir Wizards, Charles Suggs and Emma Whamond are joined by Zach Daniel, creator of the Ash Framework and Igniter, VP of Engineering at Remedy Meds, and upcoming ElixirConf keynote speaker, to talk about what sits between an LLM and useful engineering work. Zach reflects on how much has changed since his last appearance on the podcast in October 2024, moving from Igniter, code generation, and project patching into AI agents, context layers, and custom engineering workflows. The conversation explores how deterministic tools and probabilistic LLMs can work together, and why the most useful AI systems often depend on the structure built around the model. We also discuss why teams should be careful about outsourcing the systems that hold their organizational knowledge and decision-making. He shares his perspective on owning the AI stack, building internal knowledge systems, training junior developers in an AI-augmented world, avoiding vendor lock-in, and why Elixir may be especially well-suited for safer agentic workflows. Robert Horry, Rob Jenners, and B-Dog are coming off a Summer League week that didn't go the way anybody in Vegas planned, and they've got a full show sheet to prove it. They open by picking apart the Wizards shutting down rookie AJ Johnson, detour into an actual geography lesson about where you can find a Piggly Wiggly in Georgia, and Rob gets reminded that talking trash on this show always finds its way back to him — this time from Wizards fans after he named Washington his League Pass dark horse.   From there it's a real basketball conversation. Horry breaks down training his son Christian in the gym for the first time in two years, and the guys dig into Jonathan Kuminga's stalled free agency before getting into the biggest story of the summer: Victor Wembanyama turning down the supermax to keep his young Spurs core paid. Horry explains why that move says more about Wemby's character than any stat line could, and the three of them go back and forth on whether he could become the first basketball billionaire — just not off American endorsement deals.   The Bam Adebayo–Tyler Herro dust-up gets the full breakdown, including Tim Hardaway's comments about Heat culture and what it actually means to have your guy's back in a locker room. Then it's LeBron for the better part of twenty minutes — who's really leading the sweepstakes between Cleveland, Golden State, Philly, and Miami, why Draymond Green opting into free agency might be a tell, and how weird it is that people are treating LeBron's every move at Fanatics Fest like a decision-day clue. They close out the trade talk with where things stand on Kawhi Leonard, the ongoing NBA investigation, and why the Clippers front office has more explaining to do than Adam Silver let on.   Once the basketball talk wraps, Avery Woolery — an 11-year-old kid from Kentucky who jumped in a pool to save a drowning man when the adults around him didn't — gets this week's Big Shot. And then the guys close out with a wild round of Black Crime or White Crime, headlined by maybe the strangest arson story any of them have ever read on air.   00:00  Cold Open: Vegas Summer League Fallout 01:00  AJ Johnson Shut Down & Rookie Development 03:00  Piggly Wiggly Rabbit Hole 04:30  Wizards Dark Horse Pick Comes Back to Bite Rob 06:00  Horry's Week: Disney Trip & Training Christian 08:00  Kuminga Free Agency & Lakers Buzz 09:30  Wemby Turns Down the Supermax 14:00  Could Wemby Be Basketball's Next Billionaire? 16:00  Bam vs. Tyler Herro: What Really Happened 18:30  Heat Culture Debate & Tim Hardaway's Comments 22:00  LeBron Sweepstakes: Who's Really In the Mix 26:30  LeBron and Draymond's Unlikely Friendship 27:30  Decoding LeBron's Decision Timeline 29:00  Cleveland, Philly, or Golden State? 33:00  Weighing Miami's Case in a Loaded East 37:00  Kawhi Trade Stuck in NBA Investigation Limbo 41:00  Free Agency Roundup: Trent Jr. & Clarkson 42:00  Big Shot of the Week: 11-Year-Old Pool Hero 43:00  Black Crime or White Crime

Most of us know the internet isn't a particularly private place. Yet there's a certain feeling of anonymity that comes with sharing online — our words and stories mixed in with millions of others. It's easy to think no one is watching. But your data isn't just vulnerable to prying eyes. It's for sale. And the government is buying it up to keep a closer eye on you — and all of us. This week, hosts Amory and Ben take a chilling look at how our social media is used for surveillance with Dell Cameron, an investigative reporter with WIRED covering privacy and national security. ICE Wants to Build Out a 24/7 Social Media Surveillance Team (WIRED) Homeland Security Wants Social Media Sites to Expose Anti-ICE Accounts (The New York Times) ICE has spun a massive surveillance web.
