The Democratic party stands at a critical crossroads as a highly organized political machine successfully moves radical socialists from the streets into the halls of government. With a clean sweep in recent New York primaries, the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) have proven their pipeline is operational and highly effective, securing victories for polarizing figures like Aber Kawas and Mamdani-backed candidates. From controversial rhetoric surrounding 9/11 to explicit calls for dismantling capitalist systems, the ideological shift within the party is no longer confined to activist circles—it is actively shaping legislative futures, leaving establishment Republicans scrambling for answers and facing fierce criticism for their legislative inaction.Meanwhile, the cultural divide on the ground reaches a boiling point, highlighting a stark double standard in American public life. In California, citizens filming a First Amendment audit in MAGA hats are forced to rely on police safety numbers just to navigate a public space, illustrating the escalating hostility toward conservative symbols. Simultaneously, public outrage boils over in Ventura County after a judge hands down a shockingly lenient one-year sentence to a father in a tragic felony incest case, sparking a fierce debate over judicial accountability, elite leniency, and the perceived systemic failure to protect the nation's most vulnerable.Rounding out a chaotic look at "Peak 2026," the institutional push for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) faces another public relations nightmare after a high-profile corporate executive is caught on camera in a bizarre, viral act of vandalism during the Knicks parade. Combined with viral campus showdowns that leave immigration advocates speechless when confronted with baseline economic realities, the modern progressive narrative is fracturing under pressure. Tune in as we dissect a nation divided, institutional rot from the top down, and the relentless march of an aggressive new political era.
"That's my own formula — passion and compassion tempered by dedication and humor." This episode is sponsored-in-part by Maddie's Fund, OcuTrap, and Drop Traps: Beginning and Advanced Certification Workshop. After more than five decades behind the exam table, Dr. Kevin Lynch has treated thousands of pets, mentored generations of veterinary staff, and built one of Long Island's longest-running animal hospitals. His new memoir, Off the Leash: Tales From a Lifetime of Healing Pets and Wonder, traces that journey from a 13-year-old kid who talked his way into a part-time job at a local animal hospital to a veterinarian whose guiding philosophy is simple: treating the animal is only half the work, and tending to the person on the other end of the leash is the rest. Dr. Lynch and Stacy dig into one of the thorniest debates in animal welfare: the divide between "indoor-only" advocates and the realities of outdoor and community cat caregiving. Drawing on his own farm-cat memories from working summers on a dairy farm before vet school, he makes the case for listening over judging, and for meeting cat caregivers where they are instead of where a textbook says they should be. From there, the conversation turns practical: how should trappers and community cat program managers actually approach a veterinarian for the first time? Dr. Lynch's answer centers on intention, relationship-building, and showing up with a plan rather than a crisis. The episode also gets personal. Dr. Lynch opens up about compassion fatigue and burnout, a topic he says is as urgent in veterinary medicine today as it's ever been, and shares the daily habits, including a deliberately disciplined relationship with his phone, that keep him from burning out after 51 years in practice. He and Stacy also revisit one of the most harrowing chapters of his career: volunteering with search-and-rescue dogs at Ground Zero after 9/11, an experience he says revealed both the depths of tragedy and the best of human nature. Rounding out the conversation, Dr. Lynch shares a few of the stories from his book, including an unforgettable lesson in slowing down before attempting a DIY tick removal. He also talks about where listeners can find his memoir, his YouTube series The Pet Mindset Show, and the dental care device he invented for dogs and cats. Press Play Now For: How a 13-year-old's unpaid job at a Long Island animal hospital turned into a 51-year veterinary career Dr. Lynch's perspective on the indoor-only versus outdoor/community cat debate, and why he believes there's no one-size-fits-all answer His honest advice for trappers and caregivers on how to approach a veterinarian for the first time Why showing up with "a plan" rather than a crisis is the fastest way to build trust with a vet The role of compassion fatigue and burnout in veterinary medicine, and the daily habits that help him stay in the game His "physical mailbox" approach to managing phone use and protecting mental bandwidth A first-hand account of volunteering with search-and-rescue dogs at Ground Zero after 9/11 The story behind a Rottweiler named Big Shot, and the unexpected humanity he witnessed during that crisis Two unforgettable cat stories from his memoir, including a lesson in patience before attempting DIY pet care Where to find his memoir, his YouTube series, and the dental device he invented for pets Resources & Links Off the Leash: Tales From a Lifetime of Healing Pets and Wonder (Amazon) Dr. Kevin Lynch's website The Pet Mindset Show (YouTube) Plaque Be Gone dental device
It's almost 8 a.m. when Gloria Moncrief arrives at her oil firm's hangar at Meacham Airport in Fort Worth, Texas. She climbs into an eight-seater Cessna Citation, explaining that her Boeing 737, Lucky Liz, is in the shop. The flight to a small airfield in southern Louisiana takes about an hour. Then it's a 45-minute drive along the levee into the Atchafalaya river basin, the largest swamp in North America, followed by 15 minutes on a flat-bottomed boat past alligators, nesting bald eagles and fishermen muscling their bass boats into the bayou. Rounding a bend in the waterway, the boat arrives at a giant drilling rig with a 150-foot-tall derrick and roaring engines. Tall and thin, decked out in jeans and knee-high ostrich-skin boots, the 44-year-old Moncrief steps onto the rig, where a handful of mud-covered roughnecks maneuver 40-foot lengths of steel pipe with massive hydraulic tongs. Moncrief is the head of Montex Drilling Company, the family business that owns Moncrief Oil and has been spending $300,000 a day to rent the rig and staff it around the clock with 60 folks working 12-hour shifts, 14 days on, 14 days off, all to drill the second-deepest natural gas well ever in the U.S. The Highlander 2 goes down 30,862 feet (almost six miles), where it intersects an 800-foot-thick (gross) zone of sand saturated with trillions of cubic feet of natural gas. The well was recently completed after 389 days of drilling. By Christopher Helman, Senior Editor Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

SpaceX priced its IPO at $135 per share Thursday, implying a $1.8 trillion market cap for the company. That boosted Musk's net worth by $188 billion to an estimated $982 billion, according to Forbes' calculations. Then on Friday, the rocketmaker's stock started trading at $150 per share and closed the day at $160.95 per share, implying a valuation of $2.2 trillion for the company. That easily made Elon Musk the world's first trillionaire, worth an estimated $1.1 trillion. He was briefly worth a record $1.2 trillion, when SpaceX's stock peaked at $176.52 per share Friday. Musk, who serves as chairman, CEO and chief technical officer of SpaceX, owns 4.8 billion shares of the rocketmaker, worth $767 billion at Friday's close. He has another 350 million stock options with an exercise price of $8.40 per share, worth $53 billion, giving him a 38% stake in the company, worth $821 billion. Before SpaceX priced its IPO Thursday, Forbes had been valuing Musk's estimated 40% stake (before dilution from the public offering) at around $500 billion, based on the $1.25 trillion valuation of SpaceX's merger with Musk's artificial intelligence and social media company xAI in February. (xAI previously merged with X–formerly Twitter–in March 2025.) Musk also owns just over 10% of $1.5 trillion (market cap) Tesla, worth $168 billion, plus options to acquire another nearly 8% stake, worth $116 billion billion. Rounding out his net worth are smaller stakes in his brain interface startup Neuralink and his tunneling firm Boring Company, plus several billion dollars of wealth from previous Tesla share sales. Sean Brodrick, Editor of Wealth Megatrends, Supercycle Investor, Resource Trader, and contributing analyst to Weiss Ratings Daily, joins me to discuss his investing outlook across multiple resource and energy sectors, now that there is a de-escalation in the Iran war and the potential reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. He shares how he is viewing oil, natgas, nuclear and uranium, copper, gold, silver, and other critical minerals and defense metals like rare earths, antimony, and tungsten. We start off discussing why he remains medium-term bullish on the traditional energy sector, and why he is not abandoning his oil and natgas stocks just because oil prices have pulled back on the potential Iran peace deal. Sean points to the substantial damage to energy infrastructure in a few countries in the Middle East, and outlines that the recovery will take time and be a process. He also brought up how the higher energy prices may have accelerated some consumers and even countries to transition over sooner to electric vehicles. This led into a discussion on the sources of power generation that stood to benefit in that scenario, which Sean highlighted would be a boon for natural gas and nuclear power plants, and that he still has exposure to power and utility stocks for exposure to that megatrend. The discussion on power generation naturally pivoted into the supply/demand picture developing for copper and copper stocks. Copper stocks have held up much better than the precious metals over the last few months, and copper prices are still up near all-time high levels. Sean flagged some of his copper positions as having been some of of the more profitable areas of his portfolio over this year, and is holding onto what he has, and recommending a new copper/gold producer to his subscribers this week. The conversation then turned to the recent bounce in the precious metals sector. We noted how gold, silver, and the precious metals equities had violated their 200-day moving average support over the last 2 weeks, with a very hard selloff last week, that eventually gave way to a rebound starting the end of last week and carrying, thus far, into the first couple days of this week. Sean has been nibbling a little bit lately on PM stocks into this bounce, but wants to see more follow-through strength to get more aggressive in adding to positions. Rounding out the commodities sector, we shifted over to his constructive view of defense metals like the heavy rare earths, antimony, and tungsten, and how he expects to see more direct investments and policy and fiscal support for critical minerals projects. Wrapping up we mused on if the SpaceX IPO and Anthropic IPO were causing rotation out of the resource stocks, and could be responsible for some of the recent weakness across the sector. RiskCellar is back with a packed episode that feels like the insurance industry itself, equal parts serious and unfiltered. Brandon Schuh and Nick Hartmann sit down to unpack a week that saw some of the biggest AI-driven headlines to hit the P&C space in recent memory. From a massive brokerage laying off 2,300 employees and blaming AI, to a CNN lawsuit targeting an AI search engine, to an InsurTech startup valued at $2.6 billion on just $40 million in revenue, nothing about this week is normal. And that's exactly the point. The episode digs into the Acrisure story, where roughly 2,300 jobs are being cut, the second round of layoffs in a single year, with AI cited as the primary driver. Brandon and Nick do the math. At $300,000 average revenue per employee, that's a $690 million bet on AI's ability to fill the gap. They zoom out to connect this to the broader PE pressure story, exits, soft markets, rising interest rates, and a potential IPO on the horizon. The conversation doesn't stop there. New York State's newly signed auto insurance tort reform law gets a thorough breakdown, including the new $100,000 cap on non-economic damages and tightened comparative negligence thresholds that could finally start moving the needle on affordability. And the CNN vs. Perplexity lawsuit opens a bigger conversation about AI as a derivative product, one that can't function without the journalism it may ultimately be destroying.Rounding out the news block is a closer look at Corgi, the AI-focused MGA that just raised at a $2.6 billion valuation despite generating only $40 million in revenue, a 65x multiple that leaves both hosts scratching their heads. Brandon draws a pointed parallel to boutique consulting firms now competing with McKinsey-sized players thanks to AI tools, a trend with direct implications for insurance brokerages of every size. This week is an absolute monster of an episode. We are diving into the most talked-about releases of the summer—navigating endless liminal spaces, heading to Eternia with He-Man, surviving a demonic road trip, and breaking down the return of the Wayans family to the parody throne. We're kicking off with A24's massive sci-fi psychological horror phenomenon, directed by YouTube sensation Kane Parsons in his feature debut. Chiwetel Ejiofor stars as a struggling furniture store owner who stumbles upon a dimension of endless, unsettling liminal spaces hidden right beneath his basement. Fun Flix Fact: The film's massive box office success made Kane Parsons the youngest filmmaker in history to reach number one at the American box office By the power of Grayskull, He-Man is back on the big screen! Directed by Travis Knight, this epic live-action adventure stars Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam/He-Man, who returns to Eternia to find his home shattered under the rule of Skeletor (Jared Leto). Fun Flix Fact: Jared Leto went to extreme lengths to stay in character and intimidate his co-stars. Director Travis Knight revealed that Leto wore his prosthetic skeletal muscle suit off-camera and regularly smeared what appeared to be blood on his face between takes! The parody godfathers are back. The Wayans brothers have returned to the franchise for the first time in 25 years, reuniting with Anna Faris and Regina Hall for a wild take on modern horror hits like Longlegs, Terrifier 3, and even the 2026 biopic Michael. Fun Flix Fact: To maintain absolute secrecy around the surprise cameos, the production filmed multiple alternate endings involving different modern horror antagonists, keeping even the cast guessing until the final cut. Rounding out our main reviews is the supernatural horror flick directed by André Øvredal (The Autopsy of Jane Doe). Jacob Scipio and Lou Llobell star as a young couple on a road trip who witness a terrible highway accident, only to find themselves hunted by a demonic entity known only as "The Passenger." Fun Flix Fact:The production managed to keep its budget incredibly tight at $15 million, relying on claustrophobic car interiors and intense practical lighting to build relentless tension. To celebrate a quarter-century of raunchy, unapologetic comedy, we are winding the clock back to 2001. We revisit the Wayans brothers' follow-up to the blockbuster original to see how its haunted house spoofs hold up in 2026. Fun Flix Fact: Scary Movie 2 was notoriously rushed into production, hitting theaters just over a year after the first film. Despite the incredibly tight turnaround, it cemented tropes that defined early 2000s comedy cinema. And if that's not enough entertainment for you, we've even thrown in new trailers to watch and what you can catch on streaming. On today's episode, we discuss a series of contentious political and policy issues ranging from election integrity to federal oversight. The hosts examine allegations of blatant election fraud in California, debate whether cutting federal block grants could be used to enforce election reforms, and highlight a Maine Senate race involving a candidate with a controversial Nazi tattoo. They broaden the conversation to foreign policy by raising concerns about the Iran conflict potentially turning into a long, costly quagmire, while also scrutinizing reports of Medicaid fraud tied to Somali immigrants in states like Minnesota and Ohio. The episode further explores the controversy over an MMA event at the White House, including legal challenges, environmental impact questions, and the need for congressional approval of temporary structures on the lawn. Rounding out the discussion, the hosts address infrastructure challenges in Louisiana, rising education costs and tuition, reduced training hours for plumbing licenses, and the risk of government corruption in licensing, closing on a lighter, humorous note about the requirements for plumbing certification. We're calling "foul ball!" A spectator at a local minor league baseball game was injured when a foul ball zipped through a tear in the safety net and broke his arm. The spectator claims that the stadium owed him a safe environment, that it knew about the tear and didn't fix it, and that the mascot wasn't even that funny. To score, our litigant is going to have to run all four bases of the core elements of negligence: duty, breach, causation, and damages. Notable Timestamps [ 00:00 ] - A foul ball injury at a minor league game sets the stage for a negligence analysis, focusing on whether the stadium failed to maintain a safe environment after allegedly knowing about a damaged safety net. [ 05:02 ] - The first element of negligence is duty. A stadium generally owes spectators a duty of reasonable care, especially when protective measures such as safety netting are installed for fan protection. [ 05:40 ] - The second element is breach. If stadium personnel knew about a tear in the net and failed to repair it, that omission may constitute a breach of the duty owed to spectators. [ 08:56 ] - Causation requires a direct connection between the breach and the injury. The claimant must show the foul ball passed through the known defect and that the injury was a foreseeable result. [ 10:14 ] - A claimant's own actions can affect the analysis. Attempts to catch a foul ball, distraction, or impairment could introduce comparative or contributory negligence issues depending on state law. [ 11:24 ] - Damages are essential to a negligence claim. Even if a duty existed and was breached, recovery is unlikely without a measurable injury, financial loss, or other legally recognized harm. [ 12:11 ] - A personal auto accident example illustrates that negligence claims can fail despite a breach of duty when no injury or property damage occurs. Reaching only part of the negligence analysis is not enough. [ 13:15 ] - The discussion highlights how emotional distress claims can complicate matters. Jurisdictions differ on whether symptoms without clear bodily injury satisfy policy language or legal damage requirements. [ 14:43 ] - Not every liability case follows ordinary negligence rules. Certain ultra-hazardous activities or situations involving strict liability may shift the focus away from proving the traditional four negligence elements. [ 16:21 ] - The key lesson is that successful negligence claims require all four elements: duty, breach, causation, and damages. Missing any one element can prevent recovery, regardless of the strength of the others. In a fascinating behind-the-scenes revelation, Reid credits Mariah Carey for calling him directly with the genius suggestion to quiet the New York hip-hop community's undercurrent of skepticism. He shares his immense respect for Jay-Z, describing him as true royalty alongside figures like Nelson Mandela and Barack Obama for his ability to shift the energy of a room. The crew also reflects on how Reid orchestrated bringing Claude Kelly and Chuck Harmony together in Atlanta via A&R Steve Ferrara, resulting in timeless hits like "Fragile" and "Blame It on Me" for Chrisette Michele's chart-topping number one album, Epiphany. Rounding out the legendary sit-down, the hosts honors Reid with the show's official Trailblazer Award to celebrate his monumental impact on the entertainment landscape. Transitioning from executive talk to personal passions, the conversation winds down with an exclusive peek into his high-end taste, as Reid details his love for custom craftsmanship, what his personal vinyl collection looks like, and the exact bottles of wine he'd bring to a Nashville gathering. In an era defined by political compromise and institutional overreach, Joe delivers an uncompromising, hard-hitting analysis of the forces actively working to dismantle American sovereignty. This episode pulls no punches, tackling the coordinated gaslighting from mainstream media figures and detailing the ongoing internal friction fracturing the Colorado GOP. From the weaponization of the judicial system against election integrity advocates to the calculated silence of leadership, Oltmann exposes the multi-front assault on truth, demanding to know what legacy patriots will choose to leave behind. The battle lines sharpen as constitutional lawyer, former U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel, and Green Beret commander Ivan Raiklin joins the show. Fresh off the campaign trail for Representative Thomas Massie, Raiklin breaks down the high-stakes fight for an authentic "America First" foreign and domestic policy. Together, Oltmann and Raiklin dissect the controversial executive maneuvers surrounding Tina Peters, the insidious grip of foreign lobbying in Washington, and the urgent necessity for a non-interventionist Congress to dismantle deep-state surveillance apparatuses like FISA before domestic dissent is completely criminalized.Rounding out the broadcast, the show pivots to the cultural battlefield, mapping out the architecture of fifth-generational warfare being waged against American values. Through a series of staggering clips—ranging from leftist academics plotting the destruction of traditional gender roles to radical candidates running on anti-ICE agendas—Joe illustrates a systemic plot to replace liberty with state allegiance. Featuring powerful, firsthand warnings from survivors of Cuban socialism and an exposure of the ongoing denigration of American heritage, this episode serves as an essential wake-up call for anyone ready to stand against the controlled demolition of the republic.

In these ways, value and voice build a strong workplace culture. Rounding and recognition can help add value and voice to an organization to a strong culture. Listen to this conversation between Dr. Janet Pilcher and Mr. Bill Adams, a Studer Education Leader Coach, to learn how to use rounding and recognition as tactics to add voice and value to an organization. By Warren Cole Smith Megachurches are not going away, of course. But data in recent years suggest their growth and numbers are leveling out, and possibly even declining. In 1970, the United States had less than 20 protestant megachurches, churches with more than 2,000 in weekly attendance. Today, that number is close to 2,000, a 100-fold increase. However, this number has been mostly unchanged for the past 10 years. In other words, after a period of explosive growth from 1970 to about 2010, the growth in the number of megachurches, and the number of people who attend them, seems to have stagnated. Outreach Magazine publishes an annual list of the fastest growing churches in America, and the largest churches in America. I recently compared the most recent list to the list from 2006 — 20 years ago. My analysis was not comprehensive, but it was fascinating. For example, the largest church on the 2006 list was Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas, pastored by Joel Osteen. In 2006 and 2026, the attendance listed was 45,000. No growth whatsoever over a 20-year period. The No. 2 church on the 2006 list was Florida's Without Walls International Church, led by Randy White, the former husband of Prosperity Gospel preacher and Trump advisor Paula White. Without Walls had 23,900 attendees in 2006. Today, that church is not on the list. It sold its facility in 2011 following the divorce of Randy and Paula White, not to mention other public scandals. Today, the church still exists, but attendance figures are hard to come by. Attendance is likely in the hundreds or — at most —low thousands. Not the tens of thousands of its heyday. The No. 3 church on the 2006 church is the Second Baptist Church of Houston, which listed attendance of 22,266 in 2006 and still has attendance of 19,564 today. That is a slight decline over the past two decades, but Second Baptist is still a substantial church and a force in the Houston area. Rounding out the Top Five on the 2006 list are New Birth Missionary Baptist Church (22,000) and Willow Creek Church (21,500). Both churches have been wracked by scandal and are now much smaller today than then. In short, not one of the Top Five churches of 2006 grew in the intervening decades, and three of the five had very public scandals that precipitated dramatic declines. I do not want to overstate my case. As William Bennett famously said, “The plural of anecdote is not data.” I am sharing anecdotes, not data — or at least, not all the data. I will be the first to admit that. And I can think of a couple of good counterarguments to my thesis that the Age of the Megachurch is over. First, while these churches have declined, others have emerged, and some of them are very large indeed. For example, Life.Church of Edmond, Okla., led by Craig Groeschel, now claims 85,000 attendees. That makes it the largest church in the nation. Church of the Highlands of Birmingham, Ala., is led by Chris Hodges. That church claims 60,000 attendees. And Christ's Church of the Valley in Peoria, Ariz., is both the No. 3 church on this year's list and it remains one of the fastest growing churches in the country, with 54,142 in weekly attendance. However, it is worth noting that all three of these churches are multi-site churches. Life.Church has more than 45 physical locations. Church of the Highlands has at least 27 locations. Christ's Church of the Valley has more than 18 physical locations. The multisite phenomenon was rare in 2006 and nonexistent in 1970. It is obvious that if these multisite churches were not aggregating numbers from dozens of sites, their numbers would be much less eye-popping. The growth in multi-site churches, and the anemic growth in the number of megachurches also make obvious that American infatuation with megachurches seems to be in decline. Ryan Burge, my “go to guy” when it comes to church data, notes that the median size of a church in America is about 70 people. Put plainly, the nation's megachurches attract about five to seven million people each week. But non-megachurches attract 10 times that many — 50 to 70 million people. In other words, the megachurch is not now, nor has it ever been, representative of the church experience in the United States. Megachurches feel dominant because they receive media attention, and they can invest in radio, television, and other mass media. But that is an illusion. Will these trends continue? The answer to that question is, likely, “yes.” First, lots of church leaders, even those in the church growth movement, are growing tired of the megachurch and multisite model. Here at MinistryWatch, we have written about Watermark Church, which abandoned its multisite model in 2021. Most of those sites became independent churches, and they are now thriving. Some of these independent churches have themselves planted churches. Mark Dever, pastor of Capitol Hill Baptist Church in Washington, D.C., is someone who has never embraced either the megachurch or the multisite model. His church has intentionally stayed relatively small, less than 1,000 in weekly attendance, and it has been equally intentional about planting churches in the D.C. area. So far, CHBC has helped plant or revitalize more than a dozen churches in the surrounding area. Secondly, it is important to note that the megachurch is at least as much a cultural phenomenon as it is a spiritual phenomenon. Megachurches are the brainchild of Baby Boomers and the post-World War II industrialization of America and the world. That is why I often refer to the “Evangelical Industrial Complex” to describe what has happened to religious life since the 1970s. The industrial model, with its features of scale and mass production, has proven damaging to the mission of the church, and it has lost its appeal to subsequent generations, who value community and relationships. We can now see that evangelicalism's industrial model is good at empire building, but not as good at kingdom building. So, to return to the question that started this conversation: Is the Age of the Megachurch over? The answer to that question may be that it really never was. The sturm und drang of the megachurch movement has turned out to be just what Goethe's famous expression suggests: overwrought, full of passion, but fleeting. Megachurches will not disappear, but after a half-century of observation, we can say that the legacy of the megachurch is mixed, and includes scandal, spiritual deconstruction, and cynicism. In short, becoming a megachurch is no longer the goal to which even church growth advocates aspire. Many faithful Christians are discovering the wisdom found along the Old Paths, and they can say with conviction E.F Schumacher might admire: “small is beautiful.” The producer for today's program is Jeff McIntosh. I'm your host Warren Smith. Until next time, may God bless you.
