In this episode I chat about food. I speak about my own personal struggles with food and eating emotionally, how I first started 'clean eating' and the sorts of things I've done to be able to maintain my current lifestyle. I have picked the photo above as it makes me annoyed at how excited I was to have so many free Big Mac vouchers! I was wrapped! This is certainly a throw back as there is no way I'd do that now! I was around 210kg in that photo. How things have changed. She wrote a book for young women who binge eat, called Food: The Good Girl's Drug that came out in 2011. In this episode, she generously shares her story of a relapse back into her eating disorder after trying weight loss diets again, and what she learned from that experience about body acceptance. Former Redbook, Glamour, and Seventeen editor, and author of the book Food: The Good Girl’s Drug, Sunny Sea Gold joins host Amy Rosenberg for a revealing conversation about her time working in the world of New York fashion magazines, how her personal struggle with binge-eating and body dysmorphia led her to advocate for change within the industry, and tips PR pros can use when pitching to these often-intimidating organizations, as well as her current gig writing about every part of a woman’s body for outlets like Parent’s.com, The Oprah Magazine, Health, Refinery29, Scientific American, and Reader’s Digest.
