Joel started serving in the Air Force and after completing a 'fear of heights' test, he started doing line work for about 5 years. After leaving the service, Joel found that his electrical infrastructure background worked really well with green technology. His background in safety doing line work in the Air Force set up Onset Technical Services to be able to advise project owners on lease programs, safety, which specific contractors to hire, quality of work, etc. Joel takes pride in everything and every detail that he engages in and you'll hear it in his stories, his experience, and you'll see it in his work ethic. He started kayaking at school with John Newton and has a multiude of Australian medals in both Kayak and SLS. After focusing on studying to get a degree in Sports Science he started paddling seriously in 2009 and had a crack to make the 2012 London Games. Unfortunately for him he wasnt able to acheive his goal and we speak about how he dealt with that mentally.
