Talk Back to MeThe Flux Defense Raider has been on the scene for a few years now. This Flux Raider review is less about the Chassis alone, and more about how, with the right parts and a little bit of garage engineering, one can make the tool sing. Is it worth the attention or is there more to it than meets the eye? The Flux Raider has garnered attention, and for good reason: it challenges the status quo. Still, one might need to make a few adjustments to hone the platform into what they need. This build includes parts from SIG SAUER, Lead & Steel, Reptilia, Obsidian Arms, RovyVon, and More. High-pivot bikes are generally thought of as super planted, smashy, gravity-oriented bikes, but that isn't inherently true, as some shorter-travel high-pivot Trail bikes have demonstrated in recent years. But isolating the main reason for going high-pivot — a more rearward axle path than can realistically be achieved with a more conventional suspension layout — from all the other variables that go into designing a bike is hard to do in practice.Cascade Components wanted to learn more about what a more rearward axle path does while changing as few other variables as possible, and their new high-pivot conversion kit for the Specialized Stumpjumper is the result. They're also offering a limited run of 20 of the kits, so we sat down with founder and engineer, Jimmy Davis, to hear all about the project, including why Cascade chose to take it on; why they used the Stumpjumper as the basis for it; what they learned; and more.RELATED LINKS:BLISTER+ Get Yourself CoveredTOPICS & TIMES:The Stumpjumper 15 High-Pivot Conversion Kit (1:53)Why make a high-pivot conversion? What exactly do the top sprint car teams have under their hoods and body panels these days? Today on the show we'll deep dive engines, chassis, and shocks for a bunch of sprint car teams, and see if there are any magic setups. Plus the weekend rainouts are rolling in quick.
In this episode, LRM's Martin Domoney and Steve Miller sit down for an hour of chat with Alistair and Duncan from Richards Chassis.Whilst on a mission to collect the bulkhead for Steve's 1984 Ninety project, the boys grab the opportunity to chat to the minds behind the magic of building brand-new chassis' for Land Rovers, the mainframe – literally and figuratively – of many a Land Rover rebuild or restoration.Richards Chassis' Alistair and Duncan talk through how the business started, where it's heading now and the dos and don'ts of restoring original Series One chassis' rather than replacing them for a new unit – no matter how rotten they are.Steve manages to shoehorn in a bit of old British classic car talk, and the guys discuss how Land Rover restoration has evolved over the years, and how it's looking stronger than ever.Apologies for the audio in this episode – it was recorded in a workshop on a normal working day. As always your questions and feedback are welcome – email editorial@lrm.co.ukEnjoy the episode.
More dirt late model chassis shenanigans are afoot, and I've got the details today on two more drivers looking at swaps coming up, and both just might surprise you. Plus some weekend sprint car leftovers, and Ricky Thornton Jr's next open wheel race.
The chassis market is a critical part of supply chains and many times can be overlooked. Freight markets could come to a halt without access to safe, reliable chassis, for which prices have almost doubled since tariffs were implemented in 2021. In this Talking Transports podcast, Daniel Walsh, president and CEO of TRAC Intermodal, joins Lee Klaskow, Bloomberg Intelligence’s senior transportation and logistics analyst, to share his insights on how the company is benefiting from technology investments. The ability to leverage artificial intelligence to ensure its fleet is properly maintained can lead to better customer experiences and prolong the life of these assets. Walsh also talks tariffs, demand drivers, regulations, inflationary pressures and how following his heart led him to a career in transportation.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Today we are starting our series of conversations about Artificial Intelligence and how it's changing the way we learn, work, and even play. AI is a hot topic with the potential to do a lot of good. But there are also a few pitfalls that we should all be aware of.Joining the show to help us start making sense of it all is Mark Sunday. Mark spent 20 years as the CIO at Oracle/Siebel, and prior to that role, he spent 10 years at Motorola. Retirement hasn't slowed him down one bit. He is still very engaged in the tech industry and currently serves on the boards of Vutility, Quantum Metric, Chassis, Kaltura, and 1440. He is also a member of the Eccles Advisory Board here at the David Eccles School of Business and was appointed by the Governor to Utah's STEM Action Center. He sits down with host Frances Johnson to dive into the evolution of AI technologies, the challenges of bias and discrimination in AI data, and the opportunities AI presents for enhancing human productivity. Emphasizing the importance of retraining and upskilling, this episode highlights the steps organizations and educational institutions must take to integrate AI into their curricula and work environments.Eccles Business Buzz is a production of the David Eccles School of Business and is produced by University fm.Episode Quotes:Examining the risks of AI9:00 When I just type the word “Google,” it comes up with stuff that's relevant. Like, for me, I'm a big Michigan football fan, so Michigan football, AI, [and] a number of other topics. I like that it's showing me stuff, but I hate, hate that, based on what people have demonstrated they like, it's really limiting what information and news and opinions that people get to experience. So, I think it's created an incredible amount of divisiveness within our country. While data can buy a bias, but also using real data, and then just repeating patterns, whether it was hiring male engineers, whether it was suggesting that Black inmates are more likely to create repeat crimes or just creating a filter bubble where we're only exposed to opinions that support or reinforce opinions that we've had, I think is hugely problematic. How should individuals and institutions respond to the rise of AI?11:42 We've always faced this, whether it be computers or the internet just has to change. Yes, jobs are eliminated, should be eliminated. It was underemployment to have people pump your gas, and then, when it became legal in all states except for Oregon, until very recently to be able to pump your own gas, I look at that as underemployment when people aren't reaching the potential of the contribution that they can do. So, what's going to happen is roles are just going to have to change. We need to be aware of that. As individuals, we need to take personal responsibility. But also, as organizations, we need to invest in retraining because there are a lot of new jobs that are created—AI trainers, data scientists, ethics officers. But we're going to have to upskill and adapt.Despite the risks, Mark urges students to embrace AI's game-changing potential.21:11 We need for our students to be the very, very best at leveraging this technology. It's game-changing. It's as if calculators came out, and when I went to school, nope, we're going to have to select the slide rules, or computers came out and it's going to do the work for all of us, or the web came out and now people can do Google searches. This is far, far bigger. In fact, when we are recruiting for our new dean for the business school, I'm convinced that higher ed will change more in the next 10 years than it has in the previous 100. And AI is going to be the reason for that. And so, as we think of what we're going to be as a business school, as we think of what we're going to be as a university, we need to be prepared for this huge, huge transformation.Show Links:Mark Sunday | LinkedInOracleKahlert Initiative on Technology - The David Eccles School of BusinessSTEM Action CenterDavid Eccles School of Business (@ubusiness) • InstagramEccles Alumni Network (@ecclesalumni) • Instagram Eccles Experience Magazine

You've had an accident, but now you need to work out whether your kart is bent. Kart manufacturers design their chassis' a lot softer these days. That's to try and counter the softer tires racers use. A softer chassis absorbs a lot of that flex when drivers are cornering. Now we're seeing a lot of karts having accidents because drivers are going at higher speeds which is sometimes too fast for kids. So now suddenly, some of these seven to 10-year-old kids are driving as fast around the turns as what X30 is doing. The nature of the tire is so sticky, the kids are almost flat out around a lot of the corners. Now when it comes to having an accident, how do we know whether our chassis is bent or not? The first way to try and assess whether your kart is bent is by putting it onto a kart jig. That's not always possible because there might not be anyone at the track that has a jig. But if there is someone there, whether it's a team or a shop, that's the best way to test it. It requires the front and rear wheels to be removed & possibly the rear hubs to come off the kart. Then place the kart into a jig, which is a level stationary platform, and then they check all the measurements. So, whether that's the rear rails, the c-sections, or just naturally whether it's up or down on one side of the kart.
