In this weeks episode, Beau Wigington & Austin Hargett visit the CN-Seamless booth at Fabtech to chat with Josh Cooper (CEO) and Sam Marcom (COO) to unpack how a class project at NC State turned into a portable CNC cutting system built for welders in the field.Key Topics Covered:Origin Story: How three classmates (Josh, Sam, and Dario) turned a senior design idea into CN-Seamless and the Mach 1 portable CNC.Why It Works in the Field: Off-the-shelf components, low upfront tooling, and a form factor that mounts anywhere—flat plate, vertical, even overhead. No G-Code Needed: A welder-friendly, four-step workflow—Design → Place → Materials → Run—plus DXF import, built-in shape library, and on-the-fly speed slider.Cleaner Cuts, Faster: Preloaded parameters by material/thickness, improved piercing (no oxy-fuel “plunge”), and practical tips for getting a clean kerf on day one.Mounting Options: Electromagnet base for steel, vacuum suction for aluminum/stainless, and pipe magnets for round work.Attachments & What's Next: Oxy-fuel and plasma today; a beveling attachment (circles, arcs, complex profiles) in the pipeline—backward-compatible with Mach 1.Real-World Feedback Loop: How shop visits, FaceTime support, and customer videos drive software updates (dozens shipped) and new shape templates (fish plates, pin flags, gussets).Social to Sales: From ~500 to 100k+ combined followers after creators started testing it; why “see it in person” still matters.Buying & Lead Times: Website + select distributors (e.g., Arc3 Gases, Earlbeck, Airgas/Linde). Small team scaling production; typical lead time targeted at a few weeks.Future Tools: Concepts for a pin-lancing machine and a beam crawler for shops that don't need a full beam line.Memorable Quotes:“We really try not to call it a robot—it's a tool you'd keep in your back pocket… just with a tablet.”“Making it so you don't have to see a single line of G-code—that was the hardest (and most important) part.”“Customers told us what shapes they cut every day. We added templates so they can just pick, place, and run.”=Check Out The CN-Seamless Products Mentioned In The PodcastCN-Seamless Website - https://foxly.link/Y9vM8zConnect with CN-SeamlessInstagram - @cn_seamless https://www.instagram.com/cn_seamless/ TikTok - @cn_seamless https://x.com/cn_seamless YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/@CN-Seamless Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61553048445096 LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/company/cn-seamless-inc/ Connect with Beau WigingtonInstagram: @beaudiditwelding https://www.instagram.com/beaudiditwelding LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/beauwigington E-Mail : beauw@weld.com

Welcome to Printing Money Episode 32! Also known as “The one with the 61x Multiple.” Danny's guest for this episode is Tali Rosman (RHH Advisory). Tali last joined as a guest back in January and has been busy advising startups and brokering transactions since. So first, Danny and Tali discuss Tali's recent experiences in dealmaking and at events such as FABTECH. They consider the China factor and the wherewithal of the US Defense-Industrial Base to keep pace. Then, Danny and Tali get to it. They analyze recent industry transactions with an eye towards earnings (or lack thereof) and multiples (sometimes reasonable, sometimes 61x). There is discussion of IPOs in Korea and China, of PIPEs in the United States and Australia, and questionable transactions originating out of Sweden. Danny and Tali also cover notable deals in the dental 3DP market. The episode rounds out with some corporate news, both good (from RICOH) and bad (from Arburg). Danny often delivers memorable one-liners, but in Episode 32, Tali steals the quip show with hits like, “You don't need an IP moat when you have a flood,” and “You can't out-China China”. If you've ever lost sleep wondering whether you missed a critical detail in a quote—or felt the adrenaline of winning a job only to realize you underpriced it—this MakingChips episode is for you. Recorded live at FABTECH 2025, Nick sits down with Jason Ray, founder of Paperless Parts, to unveil a breakthrough tool that promises to transform how shops handle complex RFQs, drawings, and bills of materials. Over the past decade, Paperless Parts has become synonymous with solving bottlenecks in estimating and quoting. Their mission has been clear: empower people—not replace them—with software designed to make quoting faster, smarter, and less risky. In this conversation, Jason shares how their latest release takes that vision even further by surfacing critical requirements buried inside complex drawings and bills of materials. This episode is full of relatable stories and practical lessons. Jason explains how the new “Requirements Review” functionality captures tribal knowledge, accelerates mentoring, and helps shops avoid underpricing jobs while improving their RFQ triage process. In this week's episode, Beau sits down with metal artist and part-time attorney, Alisyn Palla of Meraki Metalworks. She takes us through her unconventional journey from a 16-year career in high-stakes business litigation to discovering her passion for welding and creative metalwork. Alisyn shares the story behind the name “Meraki,” a spin on the Greek word “Meraki,” which means doing something with your heart, soul, and full creative energy. She talks candidly about facing her initial fears of failure, the humble beginnings of her very first Harbor Freight welder, and how she slowly pivoted from the legal world to metal art—ultimately finding a new sense of fulfillment and a thriving creative business. Alisyn's approach is deeply rooted in experimentation—what she affectionately calls “FAFO” (fool around and find out). She illustrates how that process has led to stunning, large-scale art pieces that beautify both public spaces and private galleries, while teaching her invaluable lessons about resilience and problem solving. Throughout the conversation, Alisyn highlights her investment in learning through hands-on workshops (like those hosted by Stephanie Hoffman, Sosa Metalworks, and Bailey Industrial) and the power of building relationships at events like Fabtech. She also reveals her passion for giving back: from speaking at local high schools and AWS chapters to empowering others—especially women—to explore the vast opportunities in welding and fabrication.  Memorable Quotes • “My worst day in the shop is still better than my best day as a litigation attorney.” • “Every project is literally a puzzle.
