Rhythm Club - Tribute to Brian Eagan

2020-09-27 Studio CatThe WGAM studio was Brian's happy place. In honor of his Birthday, I'm posting one of Brian's "Morning Shows" for WGAM. This show seems to start the broadcast day for WGAM, it's about an hour and a half, and he announces the time at the end as 5:00, so I can only assume this runs from 3:30 AM to 5 and beyond. I believe Brian sometimes spent the whole day in the Studio; who knows how long he was there that day?Brian loved cats - Hey, Seay! I'm not sure who owned the cat in the studio, but Brian enjoys this one. "Have you ever tried to do a radio show with a cat in your lap?" Clearly it inspires Brian to play Les Paul and Mary Ford's version of "Hold that Tiger". Brian plays music from 1930 to 1977, and clearly is playing songs he likes. Listen for two Cole Porter numbers, done by Ella and Nat Cole. But mostly listen for Brian's voice as he reads the news. The Red Sox enter the week riding a 5-game losing streak, as their contest against the Yankees was mercifully rained out last night. Alex does briefly touch upon the well-done and frankly surreal ceremony Friday afternoon at Fenway Park. Alex gets quite sentimental when talking about those 2003-2005 Red Sox teams. After that, though, it's all downhill, as Alex replays the horrors from Friday and Saturday's games against the Yankees. The biggest horror of all, of course, was the bullpen surrendering 14 runs in the 7th and 8th innings of Saturday's game. Is there anything that can done to fix this bullpen? How is it possible that a team sporting an 180 million dollar payroll enters a season with this wretched cast of relievers? Alex also talks about more troubling news regarding Bobby Valentine and how poorly the Red Sox are responding to him. At a 10-31 record over their last 41 games, is something deeply wrong with this core of players? The worst thing about the weekend; however, wasn't the bullpen's meltdown on Saturday. It was something else that occurred between the top half and bottom half of the 8th inning... In the "Around the League" segment, Alex discusses the AL East standings and lauds praise on some of the upper-echelon teams in the American League. Congratulations to Phillip Humber for the perfect game on Saturday... Post on the message boards at www.thesportsstuff.com/boards. Signing up is free, quick, and easy. Email Alex at Alexredsox076@aol.com, and follow him on Twitter @AlexReimer1. This past Saturday was the last edition of "The Alex Reimer Show" on WGAM. But stay-tuned, as Alex is on the verge of launching a new football podcast that he is excited about.

This is it...the final scheduled edition of "No Holds Barred." Thanks to all who have listened these past 6 years, the show would not have been possible without all of you. Thanks also go out to all for understanding my decision to discontinue "No Holds Barred." It was a very difficult choice to make. In this episode, I touch upon the past week of WWE TV, including the difference in how CM Punk was portrayed on RAW and Smackdown. Alberto Del Rio being stuck in Mexico, where Christian goes from, Randy Orton vs. Mark Henry, and much more is discussed too. The bulk of the episode, however, is spent discussing some "big picture" points. Has Vince McMahon's approach to the on-air product become conservative, even though his business approach remains anything but? Also, stemming from Matt Hardy's "fake" suicide video on youtube this week, it's very clear that something drastic has to change in the wrestling business. It's difficult to be bigger than the addiction when the lifestyle is bigger than you. Thanks again go out to all who have listened over these years. Please keep in touch via email (Alexredsox076@aol.com), on twitter (@AlexReimer1), and on facebook. I don't want to lose touch with any of you. As you know, I'll always have something to say ;). "Without a Curse" will continue here on www.thesportsstuff.com...I'm taking next week off but will return on Monday, 9/12. "The Alex Reimer Show" returns to the airwaves on Saturday 9/10 from 2-4 PM EST on WGAM 900 AM Nashua, 1250 AM Manchester, and www.wgamradio.com.

Alex recaps the first 2 games of 3 against the Yankees and asks the question, "why does this rivalry not have the same juice it used to have?" Is it because winning the AL East means virtually nothing, or is it more than that? The top storylines from the first two games, including John Lackey vs. Francisco Cervelli are touched upon too. Today is September 1st which means that rosters expand. Who will be activated for the Red Sox? How will Terry Francona handle the roster throughout September? How will he balance winning the division with doing the right thing for getting the team prepared for success in the playoffs? In the "Around the League" segment, Alex shares more of his thoughts on a "division race" that doesn't really matter. Andy MacPhail possibly leaving the Orioles, as well as what looks to be a rather dull September across baseball are talked about as well. Post on the message boards at www.thesportsstuff.com/boards...participate in the show! Signing up to the message boards is free, quick, and easy. Schedule notes: "The Alex Reimer Show" returns to the airwaves on Saturday 9/10 from 2-4 PM EST on WGAM 900 AM Nashua, 1250 AM Manchester, and www.wgamradio.com. Alex will be recording the show remotely! No "Without a Curse" next week...Alex is taking the week to "settle into" life at BU. "Without a Curse" will return on MONDAY, 9/12.

Next Friday (9/2) will be the final scheduled edition of "No Holds Barred." Alex will move into Boston University next weekend and while he'll continue to host "Without a Curse," "The Alex Reimer Show" (returns to the airwaves on Saturday 9/10 from 2-4 PM EST on WGAM 900 AM Nashua, 1250 AM Manchester, and www.wgamradio.com. The station is out of New Hampshire but Alex will do the program remotely), and begin immediately at WTBU (BU's student run radio station), it was a matter of having a hand in "too many things" to continue to give the loyal listeners of "No Holds Barred" the product they deserve. Life happens... This week, Alex did discuss the futures of the John Cena/Alberto Del Rio and CM Punk/Kevin Nash/Triple H storylines. Where is all of this leading and are they universally appealing enough to catch on? Plus, how will the Smackdown main event picture look this fall? In the "Finisher" segment Alex talks about the recent erratic behavior of Jeff Hardy and how it all speaks to the lack of a structure within TNA. Next week Alex will talk about several "big picture" items that have been themes on the show since its inception in October of 2005. Thanks again to all of the loyal and dedicated listeners out there.

The Red Sox have won 2 of the last 3 games in Texas, are the Rangers still considered "unbeatable?" Are they a worse match-up for the Red Sox than the Yankees? Everything on the field from Carl Crawford failing to seize an opportunity last week to possibly heating up this week, to Adrian Gonzalez homering once again, to Ortiz/Ellsbury returning, to John Lackey vs. Erik Bedard (round 4) is touched upon. Oh yeah, and JD Drew is returning on 9/1. How convenient... Is it a possibility that Theo Epstein becomes GM of the Cubs? Alex discusses... In the "Around the League" segment Alex touches on the Yankees and the state of their roster as well as more gambling news involving Alex Rodriguez. There were also waiver claims made this week, from the Giants claiming Heath Bell to the Diamondbacks and Blue Jays swapping middle infields. Post on the message boards and participate in the show at www.thesportsstuff.com/boards.
