Where do the Rays stack up against the AL East and expectations for the season!
Send a textFirst it was #Mets Francisco Lindor who came up with the 'hamate' bone problem on his left (glove) hand. It bothers players when swinging the bat as the bone rests on the knob of the bat. Lindor had surgery last week as did Jackson Holliday of the #Orioles and Corbin Carroll of the #D'backs. The latter two will miss the start of the 2026 #MLB season but Lindor may make it for Opening Day since the injury is not to his throwing hand unlike the others. Injuries a sadly a part of Spring Training. With the WBC starting in early March managing player health is trickier this year. #Brewers Caleb Durbin who finished 3rd in the NL Rookie of the Year race in 2025 was shipped to the #Red Sox and we wondered what Milwaukee was thinking! We also talk about the impact ballparks play on a hitter's home run rate. Brandon Lowe may have a problem now that he's a Pittsburgh #Pirates player. PNC Park is notoriously bad for home run hitters as are several of the NL Central parks. This is in contrast to the parks in the AL East where Lowe played for the #Rays last season. Send us a textWhen we talked with Dan Brown about his HOF choices in episode 645 we noted that just before our prior podcast the Mets signed Bo Bichette. Right after the podcast with Dan, the #Mets traded for #Brewers #1 starter Freddy Peralta. What will happen this week after our podcast? Will Framber Valdez sign with the #Orioles as Gordon says in this podcast? Where else might he go? What about Tarik Skubal's arbitration case? If the #Tigers lose and have to pay him $32M, are they more likely to trade him than if they win and only have to pay hin $19M? What about the AL East? It looks tough. Evan and Tiki react to Brian Cashman's media session and the line that set Yankee fans off: the idea the Yankees are not “running it back.” Is he right, just terrible at saying it, or both? The guys debate whether last year's trade deadline basically was the Yankees' offseason, what's still missing without a true Soto replacement, and how the team should handle Anthony Volpe's rehab and role when he returns. Then the calls roll in, from prospect trade debates and “go get a bat” arguments, to a Mets tangent on Eugenio Suárez vs. giving Mark Vientos one last runway. Hour wraps with Knicks trade chatter and Mikal Bridges' brutally honest “entitlement” quote as Giannis rumors hang in the background. Send JD a text message and be heard! The @mets make their first splash of the #mlb offseason signing #bobichette to a 3-$126M deal with opt outs in year one and two. He's also going to play 3B which he's never played in his professional career what could go wrong? Agree with @jaymahanti & @joewillie62 he played SS so arm strength won't be a concern. Everyone is concerned about an #mlblockout in 2027. I mean the Mets offered @ktuck_30 4-$220M but the @dodgers beat them out at 4-$240M. $60M a season for a player who hit three more HR's and one more RBI than @anthonyvolpe who's making $3.4M. @thejudge44 making $40M as reigning MVP & Tucker getting $20M more this season. Tucker coming off .266-22-73 season. Make it make sense. @companyadjace @thomaswdonovan @nyquil_inthe_flesh @call_me_tca_prez @paddy_bailey & @brianbarnaby had a nice debate over the @yankees great pitching staff when everyone is back healthy. As for the @nyrangers retooling letter from #chrisdrury to the fans @ari_gold24 thanks for explaining that basically Panarin, Zibanejad, Trocheck and Fox are all unmovable and Panarin is an UFA at the end of the #nhl season.
