Trong làng truyện tranh tiếng Pháp, không phải chỉ có phóng viên Tintin mới đi khắp tứ phương, anh hùng Astérix cũng từng chu du bốn bể. Trong hơn 40 tập truyện được phát hành từ năm 1961, Astérix từng đi vòng quanh xứ Gô loa (Pháp), ghé thăm Bỉ, Tây Ban Nha, các nước Bắc Âu, Hy Lạp, Thụy Sĩ, hay đế chế La Mã. Với tựa đề « Astérix en Lusitanie », tập truyện tranh vừa được phát hành cuối năm 2025, đưa độc giả theo chân nhân vật Astérix ghé thăm xứ Bồ Đào Nha. Theo ghi nhận của tờ báo Ouest France, sau hai tuần lễ đầu tiên ra mắt bạn đọc, tập truyện « Astérix en Lusitanie » (Astérix tại Bồ Đào Nha) đã lập lỷ lục số bán với hơn một triệu bản, tức đã tăng 8% so với kỳ phát hành lần trước của tập truyện « L'Iris blanc » (Hoa diên vĩ trắng) cách đây hai năm. Đằng sau thành công của tập truyện thứ 41, có sự tham gia của họa sĩ Didier Conrad và nhà soạn kịch bản Fabrice Caro (ông viết toàn bộ lời thoại dưới bút danh FabCaro). Đây là lần thứ nhì, hai tác giả này hợp tác với nhau để tạo ra một quyển truyện tranh, được nhiều độc giả nhiệt tình đón nhận. Tập truyện thứ 41 bắt đầu với nhân vật BoulQuiès gặp Astérix và Obélix để cầu cứu, xin họ mang « bầu thần dược » sang Lusitanie, một vùng đang bị đội quân La Mã chiếm đóng. Trả lời phỏng vấn RFI ban tiếng Pháp, nhóm sáng tác FabCaro và Didier Conrad đã cho biết đôi nét về ý tưởng hình thành cũng như quá trình sáng tạo tập truyện thứ 41. Câu hỏi đầu tiên rất đơn giản là tại sao nhóm sáng tác đã chọn Bồ Đào Nha : FabCaro : Từ trước tới nay, bộ truyện Astérix có truyền thống luân phiên hai thể loại : loại thứ nhất chuyên nói về nếp sống sinh hoạt của xứ Gô loa và loại thứ nhì thuật lại các chuyến du hành « xuất ngoại » của Astérix. Mặc dù không có gì bắt buộc nhóm sáng tác phải tuân theo, nhưng sau thành công của « Hoa diên vĩ trắng », chúng tôi nghĩ đã đến lúc đưa nhân vật chính đi thăm một chân trời mới. Về mặt cốt truyện, Bồ Đào Nha ở phía nam châu Âu không quá xa ngôi làng Gô loa ở vùng Bretagne. Chúng tôi đã trình bày ý tưởng này với nhà xuất bản Albert René và ban điều hành rất hứng thú vì ý tưởng này đã có từ lâu rồi, nhưng chưa có nhóm sáng tác nào bắt tay thực hiện. Mọi chuyện bắt đầu đơn giản như vậy. Chúng tôi lập ra danh sách của những nơi đã từng được vẽ thành truyện và lần này Bồ Đào Nha (Lusitanie) là nước thứ 15 được Astérix ghé thăm. Giới bạn đọc trước khi mua mỗi quyển truyện tranh, đều chờ đợi là họ sẽ tìm lại được những yếu tố quen thuộc này, chẳng hạn như « bầu thần dược » cho Astérix sức mạnh vô song, Obélix có tính ham ăn và luôn tìm củi để nướng thịt lợn rừng, đội quân La Mã dù hùng hậu cách mấy cũng bị đánh liểng xiểng tơi bời, thua trận thảm hại buồn cười… Vì vậy, khi khai thác những ý tưởng mới, chúng tôi phải tạo dấu gạch nối để tránh cho bạn đọc có cảm giác cốt truyện bị đứt đoạn, không còn liền mạch. Điều đó buộc nhóm sáng tác phải linh hoạt khi tìm cách chơi chữ, năng động sáng chế hoặc biến tấu xung quanh mô típ của những trò đùa, với mục đích chọc cười độc giả. Truyện tranh Asterix thực sự một hiện tượng toàn cầu. Đây là bộ truyện tranh tiếng Pháp được phổ biến rộng rãi nhất trên thế giới : 400 triệu bản đã được bán ra kể từ khi ra mắt độc giả lần đầu tiên vào mùa thu năm 1961. Vậy thì điều gì có thể giải thích cho sự thành công lâu dài này, họa sĩ Didier Conrad nhận xét : Didier Conrad : Giả thuyết của chúng tôi là, người Pháp thực sự có một hình ảnh khá mơ hồ về nguồn gốc có từ thời xa xưa của mình. Và trong mắt độc giả sự thành công của Astérix, đã lấp đầy những khoảng trống ấy. Hai nhà khai sinh ít dùng yếu tố lịch sử mà lại tận dụng tính khôi hài, để nói về dân tộc xứ Gô loa cũng như một số tập quán của người Pháp một cách dí dỏm, vui nhộn và có duyên. Đó chỉ là một giả thuyết, nhưng có thể giải thích vì sao nhân vật Astérix lại thu hút nhiều độc giả như vậy, ở bất cứ lứa tuổi nào FabCaro : Truyền thống di sản dù sao cũng là một thứ gì đó khá trừu tượng. Nhưng dưới lớp vỏ bọc cổ xưa, chúng ta vẫn có thể nói về những khái niệm đương đại, phổ biến thời nay. Thực ra, mỗi tập truyện Astérix lại giống như một bức ảnh chụp nhanh, phản ánh xã hội vào lúc quyển truyện được phát hành. Chẳng hạn như trong tập thứ 41, dù câu chuyện diễn ra tại Bồ Đào Nha, nhưng một số nhân vật làng Gô loa, họ thường cảm thấy không được an tâm, nhất là khi đang có tranh luận về vấn đề cải cách chế độ lương hưu, dĩ nhiên đây là một cách ám chỉ về xã hội Pháp thời nay. Vì đây là một tập truyện theo chủ đề du lịch xuất ngoại, cho nên hình ảnh của du khách Pháp ở nước ngoài khiến chúng tôi cảm thấy thích thú, để phác họa câu chuyện. Cho dù người Pháp được đi nghỉ mát tham quan, nhưng nhiều du khách vẫn thường mắc cái tật hay than van, lắm phàn nàn. Trong tập thứ 41, có một điều khiến chúng tôi luôn mắc cười đó là Obélix không phải là dân nghiền nghệ thuật ẩm thực của Bồ Đào Nha đâu nhé. Xứ này có nhiều món làm với bacalau, tức là món cá tuyết ngâm muối phơi khô, trong khi Obélix lại mê món thịt lụi, xiên lợn rừng. Tập truyện thứ 41 được in 5 triệu bản trong lần phát hành đầu tiên, bằng 19 ngôn ngữ khác nhau và chắc hẳn sẽ được tái bản và in thêm trong trường hợp gặt hái được thành công như những lần trước. Riêng tại Bồ Đào Nha, đợt phát hành đầu tiên đã vượt mốc 100.000 bản, tức cao gấp đôi con số ấn bản thông thường, nhờ biết khai thác cùng một bí quyết : "một nụ cười bằng mười thang thuốc bổ".

The Boston Celtics secured a solid 113-99 win over the Nets on November 18th, but this was a game of two halves. The Celtics started slow, falling behind by 10 points early before rallying to tie the game at the end of the first quarter. Despite shooting lights out in the first half (61% from the field and 51% from three), Boston went into the break with only a 62-61 lead, largely due to sloppy play, giving up 12 turnovers that led to 17 Nets points and allowing 22 fast-break points. So cute and easy!   Knitting in Passing A cute preteen girl came over when I was crocheting on the train to ask what kind of hook I was using and then asked if I was making a stocking for Christmas. I asked if she crocheted. She said yes but didn't offer more. When she went back to the grown up she was with, they gave her a big high five. So cute. Then the gentleman across from me who saw me counting rows then asked what happened if I lose count. Told him I could read the stitches. He congratulated me onto who new addition to our family.   In My Travels I shared highlights from a recent trip to New York City. I spent a wonderful morning at the MET Aida Silvestri- artist from Eritrea who had a triptych of pieces on display. Her work is motivated by social concern, but it also explores the camera's ability to connect people to a place. In these portraits of immigrant women, the artist strategically blurs her subjects' faces. This gesture, born of a need for protective anonymity, seems to evoke a greater enigma of the self. Mapping the course of migration to London are lines of thread stitched into the surfaces of the print- permanent, identity-altering interventions. Silvestri regards her series as a documentary project dedicated to those travelers who never reached their destination. Two embroidery samplers from Bostonian women from the late 1700s that were just beautiful. Hats! Many of our early Q2 finishers completed hats.  Neferetri, Hollyelyse and Janknitdun completed beautiful cabled hats...I bet the row counter came in handy for those projects! Stitch markers can be used in 1 project and then when finished in the next. I like knitting hats for charity so I bought a hat pattern from a sponsor. I put that pattern with a sponsor bag and sponsor stitch markers and can knit it over and over during the PSP.   On a Happy Note New York City! I took the train this time which was a great option. Laura and I had dinner with two of her pilates clients. We all enjoyed Gabriella and Zachary's first sleepover. We watched the KPOP Demon Hunters movie and after going to bed early and reading the Hot Air Balloon book, wehad fun hunting for the orange eyed monster! Dan made the kids pancakes and we'll put their photos on the collage wall in the guest room. Gabriella asked for a unicorn and a ghost Spiderman. Zach wanted Spiderman. I received a really nice message from my cousin Gayle who was visiting her friend in NH and let me know that Mom's shawl that she chose was keeping her warm. Love you Gayle! My childhood friend Maribeth has shared a few photos of things her family has found when cleaning out her parents' attic- costumes and things my mom made. It was sweet of her to send me those photos so we could reminisce. I finally got to join Beth's Karaoke Night Zoom (part of the Love in Stitches Membership). Dad is recovering from a back injury but doing better. We successfully moved my grandmother into the Memory Care side of the independent living home she's lived at for 5 years.
