Brand New Horizon is a 501c (3) Non –Profit Organization founded in December of 1999 it is a mentoring/outreach program for At-Risk youth and families with educational needs. Lady T as she is so fondly known in the community specializes in educating and assisting clients to become high school graduates. The primary objective of the organization is to assist high school dropouts, court truancy, and youth who have behavior and/or attendance issues to complete their education. Services provided are: Case Management, tutoring, home assessments, written request for Individualized Educational Plans (IEP’s), and attendance monitoring. Brand New Horizon continually collaborates with community partners in an endeavor to reduce the dropout out rate of the youth in the Greater Las Vegas Valley. Mrs. Adrienne Allen Brown A native of Canton, Mississippi, Adrienne Allen Brown is the only daughter of Bennie F. Allen, Jr. and Louella C. Allen. Growing up with a mother that was an educator, Adrienne was able to witness firsthand the academic and social accomplishments and struggles of the youth in her community, so she knew at an early age she wanted make a difference and a positive impact! Following the advice of a community leader and a high school teacher, Adrienne obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a Master of Science degree in Elementary Education from Alcorn State University. Over the last 16 years, she has served in a plethora of leadership positions in Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee and Nevada as a Special Needs Instructor, a General Education Instructor, a Collegiate Instructor, a Dean of Students, a Mentor for First Year Teachers, and a Department Chairperson. Adrienne served as the President of the Alcorn State University National Alumni Association Memphis Chapter for 2 consecutive terms from January 2012 thru December 2015. While in this position, the chapter impacted the lives of youth seeking a secondary education by recruiting and enrolling, at Alcorn, more than 50 high school students from the Memphis and northern Mississippi area, as well as providing financial assistance thru scholarships to several of those students while they were enrolled at Alcorn State University. Currently, Adrienne serves as a Special Education PACE (Program Approach to Competitive Employment) Instructor in the Clark County School District in Las Vegas, Nevada. She is also the Founder of Pro22:6, a Mentoring and Educational Awareness Program. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Tau Beta Sigma National Honorary Band Sorority, the National Association of Secondary School Principals, and she currently serves as the Alumni Liaison on the Board of Directors for the Official Fundraising Organization for the Alcorn State University Band Program, the SOD Club. Adrienne is married to the Rev. Dr. M. Christopher Brown II and is the First Lady of New Revelation Baptist Church and of Kentucky State University. She lives by the motto of Philippians 2:3-4; “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Special Guest Officer Nakia Jones. Prayer by Mother Joan Johnson “THE TRUTH DIVIDED” Officer Nakia Jones Being called for a time such as this, Officer Nakia Jones’ passionate and heartfelt outcry over the death of Alton Sterling and other young African American males went viral and took the nation by storm. As seen on BET, The Roland Martin Show, The Tom Joyner Show and other media outlets across the country, Officer Jones has been vocal about her outrage over the actions taken by some of her fellow men in blue. This life altering experience, inspired Officer Jones to write her book “The Truth Divided”, which was released in April of 2018. Born in Cleveland Ohio, Officer Jones is the oldest of her siblings. In 1990 she graduated from Shaw High School and attended Wilberforce University. She chose Criminal Justice as her major because she was aspiring to become a prosecuting attorney. However, in 1996 she chose a different career path and in September of that year she was sworn in as a Police Officer for the City of East Cleveland. Ironically, this was the same city in which she lived and graduated from high school. Officer Jones always wanted to be a productive member in her neighborhood. In 1999 Officer Jones joined the Highland Hills Police Department and in 2002 she was sworn in as the first African American female officer for the City of Warrensville Heights. She held that position as the Senior Response Officer until 2017. Officer Jones not only worked for the City of Warrensville Heights, but she also lived in the city. She is an active member of her community and volunteers for career day throughout the district. On many occasions, Officer Jones sat with Juveniles and their families, while off duty, to help resolve conflict. Officer Jones’ fervent plea over the death of Alton Sterling shook the nation. As her words resounded from coast to coast, it became clear that her life would never be the same. She has already released her book, “The Truth Divided” and is now considering authoring a follow up book, as her journey for justice continues. Officer Jones wants to leave a positive mark on the world. She believes that if you want change it starts with the person you look at every day in the mirror; if you want change you must be that change. A strong woman of faith, Officer Jones is also a well-known Gospel Play write in Cleveland Ohio. She believes that through her gospel plays she can help restore hope and change lives one gospel play at a time. If you ask Officer Jones about a quote that describes her, she would say “I am my sister and my brother’s keeper”. Erika Nicole Howard native of Dallas, Texas, was born into a family of strong driven women. Growing up she watched both her mother Sherry Howard and grandmother Effie serve their communities and local churches faithfully while balancing careers. From an early age Erika found a love for God, church, people, music and debate. In 2003 she graduated from Pepperdine University, where she earned her Bachelors of Science in Business Administration. Later that year Erika began her career with Enterprise Holdings Inc. She sat on a Diversity Leadership committee, not seeing any Black females in management positions she was determined to become the example for others. Erika relocated to Las Vegas in 2007 to assist a friend in ministry. Shortly after her arrival she began helping in the community, planning events and feeding the homeless. She started assisting battered women with makeovers for job interviews. Her professional career in the industry began as a production assistant for BET. In 2012 she launched Ambiance lounge which has now evolved into the Ambiance Group a management and production firm. Erika successfully manages recording artist, small business owners and motivational speakers.
