We take a subject 'of the moment' and come up with a Mix (Playlist) each episode based on that subject. Just like your favorite Mix CD...ready to burn!
Well, things got a little weird in Hollywood, and all over the world as we went into lock down, and the podcast (much like all other life as we knew it) went on hold. This episode was the Burn After Crew's attempt at giving people songs to help them through the tough times. They still hold up, since feeling of isolation and loneliness are still with us...kinda like COVID. So, hop in the time machine and enjoy the ride.(original air date 5/14/2020)
In our second episode, we celebrate Super-Tuesday by totally ignoring politics and, instead, talk about Super-Groups. From Cream to The Highwaymen to Audioslave, Super-Groups have evolved over the years. But the two constants are: 1) There's usually just as much to talk about in the making of the music as their is in the music itself when big egos combine.2) The Burn After Crew is probably going to love it!(Original Aired 3/7/2020.....days before lockdown!)
In our debut episode, we take on a sunbelt that we probably have no business even attempting, the music of Martin Scorsese Films. We talk about the songs, the scenes, the artist behind the songs, the artists in front and behind the camera, and mostly we talk about how much Scorsese LOVES music! We created a 16 song Mix CD, ready to burn. now go get your shine box!(originally aired 02/07/2020)
The Burn After Crew is back..kind of. We're checking in and giving a quick 'State of the Pod': discussing the future of this podcast and teasing the fun that's to come for our fellow music obsessives!
The 'Burn After' crew is back. It's a new year, but we're in the same surreal situation we were in 2020. So, why not obsess over something that brings you joy instead of doom? This episode we explore the short lived Hulu re-boot of 'High Fidelity', staring Zoe Kravitz. We lament the apparent cancelation of season 2 (we're still holding out hope that it might still happen), marvel at the treasure trove of songs that the show has to offer, dig deeper into Izzy's (and the lead character Rob's) David Bowie obsession, explore the eclectic collection of artists and genres that inhabit the music-obsessed world of the show, and give effusive praise to Questlove!
We made a mix of ten songs for all of us 'Safer At Home'-ers. This episode is more from the heart...which seems to take about an hour less time than the head of other episodes! Get a link to the Spotify playlist and comment via @burnafterpod1 on Twitter!
Super Tuesday has come to California, but Tom and Izzy have a whole lot more to say about Supergroups. They'll take you through the history of Supergroups, from Cream to streaming-era Supergroup LSD. It's been a wild ride, filled with classic rock, country, hard rock, and even some DJs making the list. To paraphrase John Lennon, strange days indeed.stream the mix: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7qWOQj0Gv4xly9Y0DnlVkW?si=38YRhyNlQnSq8XfhF7QNKQ
