A full-throated and totally sincere congratulations to the 2025 inductees into the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame. Great job not being in the heavy metal genre! Let's face it, the rock hall hates metal, and always has. It took some serious teeth-pulling to even get a few metal bands in the hall, and even though heavy metal is truly a cornerstone in rock n roll history, the powers that be treat it like the black sheep of the family. Get it together, rock hall! Dr. Nick Baker returns for the 3rd volume in our totally justifiable recurring series Top Ten Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame Snubs, this time with a twist. We're calling out the hall for their lack of diversity, in particular their exclusion of heavy metal. Here in Top Ten Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame Snubs - All Metal Edition Part 1, we get into the top half of our list of truly deserving honorees. Here's some metal up your ass, rock hall!Get "Labyrinthine Rose", the latest album from pop sensation Marina V, aka Nick's better half and musical partner. Great new stuff from these guys! With both a U.S. tour and a new session of Sky Academy booked for April/May, Uli Jon Roth is headed for an exciting Spring of 2026. It's all part of his passion to reach (and help his Sky Academy students reach) new musical heights. “A great musician is always growing,” says the German-born, U.K.-based guitar hero. Indeed, Uli could have rested on his laurels as the lava-hot lead player of '70s-era Scorpions hard rock. But, taking inspiration from the music of heroes such as Keith Jarrett, Jimi Hendrix, and Antonio Vivaldi, he has always strived for a much deeper level of artistic expression. In this exclusive visit to Sky Academy, we plug in with Uli and embark on some epic improvisational odysseys, gain insights into his hugely influential rock masterpiece “The Sails of Charon,” learn about his unique extended-neck Sky Guitars, and, best of all, learn why, as he says, “the fingers are the least important part of your sound.” Hosted by Jude Gold, this episode is brought to you by your online guitar instruction friends at TrueFire. This week we are giving a cheers to ten years! Join us as we celebrate the anniversary of the Old Smyrna Firehouse (InObscuria and Captain Content HQ). We get the inside scoop from the man himself on how this relic of a building was brought back to life to all of its firehouse glory and beyond. The building is not only Robert's home, but it is also an exhibit within the community and is utilized for private events, weddings, photoshoots, TV commercials, and feature-length films. Oh, and it's where we record the show every week! We celebrate by listening to songs that will get you fired up and leave you with a burning sensation! What is it we do here at InObscuria? Every show, Kevin opens the crypt to exhume and dissect from his personal collection an artist, album, or collection of tunes from the broad spectrum of rock, punk, and metal. Robert is forced to test his endurance and provide feedback, as he has no idea what he will be subjected to every week. Eller Judas Priests gennemførte “Defenders of the Faith”? We're Ain't Gonna Take It”; Van Halen hitter med klassiker-keyboardriffet på “Jump”; og Scorpions giver os en ny, catchy heavy schlager, “Rock You Like A Hurricane”.

He suggests a Bay Area showcase featuring Journey, Metallica, and Santana would've been perfect for the occasion. Schon also reveals Journey's plans for an extensive tour in 2026-2027 with longer sets featuring deep cuts from their catalog beyond the 'Dirty Dozen' hits. He shares insights about improved relationships within the band after their year-long break and discusses his daily guitar practice routine that keeps his playing sharp. The conversation touches on potential future collaborations, his solo projects, and the fascinating origin story behind 'Don't Stop Believin'.' - Accept-nummeret “Fast as a Shark” sætter nye standarder for speedet metal, og tænder ild i brødrene Stützer i bandet Devils Symphony. - Lars Ulrich og James Hetfield har rekrutteret et par nye medlemmer til Metallica, Cliff Burton og Dave Mustaine, og skaber stor opmærksomhed med demoen “No Life ‘Til Leather”. - Iron Maiden udgiver deres første album med Bruce Dickinson, ”The Number of the Beast”, der går rent ind hos metalfolket.

Uli Jon Roth is a German guitarist, composer, and visionary best known for his groundbreaking work with the Scorpions in the 1970s and for pioneering a neo-classical approach to rock guitar. Born on December 18, 1954, in Düsseldorf, Germany, Roth joined the Scorpions in 1973, helping shape their early sound on albums such as Fly to the Rainbow (1974), In Trance (1975), Virgin Killer (1976), and Taken by Force (1977). His emotive phrasing, fluid bends, and extended melodic solos set him apart from his contemporaries, influencing generations of guitarists including Yngwie Malmsteen, Kirk Hammett, and Steve Vai. Roth's classical leanings and improvisational flair brought a sense of artistry and spirituality to the hard rock landscape of the time. After leaving the Scorpions in 1978, Roth formed his own band, Electric Sun, which became the platform for him to explore a more personal and philosophical form of music. Albums such as Earthquake (1979), Fire Wind (1981), and Beyond the Astral Skies (1985) blended Hendrix-inspired rock with symphonic and spiritual elements, showcasing his evolution from guitar hero to musical poet. His lyrics and themes often touched on mysticism, universal consciousness, and the search for enlightenment—concepts that would define much of his later work.Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, Roth expanded beyond rock, composing orchestral works and developing his own instrument, the Sky Guitar, which extends the range of a traditional electric guitar to encompass violin-like tones. This innovation allowed him to perform complex classical pieces alongside rock compositions, bridging two worlds few musicians had combined so seamlessly. His projects such as Metamorphosis of Vivaldi's Four Seasons and Under a Dark Sky demonstrated his ambition to merge classical grandeur with electric intensity. In the decades since, Uli Jon Roth has remained a respected figure in both rock and classical circles, often described as a philosopher with a guitar. He continues to tour internationally, performing retrospective concerts that celebrate both his Scorpions legacy and his later symphonic works. Revered for his technical mastery, tone, and spiritual depth, Roth's influence endures as one of the most unique voices in the evolution of modern guitar music—a true bridge between the soul of classical composition and the freedom of rock improvisation.https://ujr.info/

This week we continue our track-by-track exploration of Night Demon's debut album, Curse of the Damned, on the occasion of its tenth anniversary by digging into the song "Mastermind." A rock/metal hybrid with a distinctive swing and a positive message, "Mastermind" is unique in the Night Demon catalog in multiple ways. You will hear about how the band were influenced to write this song, how and why it came late to the Curse writing sessions, the origins of various parts of the song, and its evolution from early demos to final recording to the live version they play today. Special attention is paid to the lyrical content, what Jarvis's inspiration was, why this message is important to him, and how it can have practical application to your daily life and mental outlook.
