Hearing Greg McKeown talk about how his daughter's undiagnosable brain condition could have torn his family apart, but didn't, really speaks to the power of gratitude. In his own eloquent words, "What was agonizing, but could have been worse, was punctuated with joy."His advice was to find something/anything to be grateful for and say it. Say it clearly and say it loud! His family also said it with each other, and that may have been the most powerful part. Another gem from the Tim Ferriss x Greg McKeown podcast. I'm sure you are incredibly talented with your hard skills but are you leaving out what Greg, author of Essentialism, calls a Titanium skill?!Just one more gem, and this is one of my own... Gratitude is the answer when times are tough. There is no better time to practice it than now!Support the show (https://paypal.me/GeoffreyBlake )

Greg McKeown, author of Essentialism (which had a huge impact on my thinking) and Effortless (his newest book as of 2021, that I'm stoked to read) was just a guest on the Tim Ferriss podcast and the episode had a strong reoccurring theme of gratitude. I furiously took notes and will be distributing the gems that I mined over the next few podcasts. These will be short but will give you something deep to consider. Today we ponder this saying..."If you focus on what you have, you gain what you lack. If you focus on what you lack, you lose what you have."Support the show (https://paypal.me/GeoffreyBlake )

Hello Beautiful Friend! A friend asked me for tips and tricks to wind down after a day at work when he's been wound up for 12 hours straight. I made this for him...Then I also realized that I made it for YOU. I hope you enjoy it :)Support the show

Have you heard of a Habit Recipe? A habit recipe is a really simple formula that helps us attach new desired habits to old established ones. It goes... After I (x), I will (y). An example of this is after I get off work, I will go right to the gym! After I brush my teeth, I will floss! After I use a dish, I will put it right in the dishwasher! You can see how these little recipes can be a powerful tool for changing your life for the better. My challenge to you is to express gratitude after every time you catch yourself complaining. You in?Support the show

I promised a trip in the "way-back machine" today, and I hope you're ready to join me! Can you recall the first time you experienced the feeling of gratitude for someone's kindness toward you? I can! My story has a lightning strike that burned down my childhood house, followed by a string of kind events, ending with the best present a middle schooler could ever get!Support the show

I think it does!Being grateful for what you have is one of the most radical and rebellious things you can do. You're saying, “I don't need that flat screen to be a whole person. I don't need that car to be judged as worthy. I am whole. I am worthy. I don't need your consumer junk. What do you think?Support the show

Hello Beautiful Friend! The birds are chirping, the roosters are crowing, the neighbors are rustling, and it's a great day to establish your Top 3 things to be grateful for at any time. My real list is My Wife, my Mum, and my sweet sweet dog. My silly one, that I hope we can all agree on is cawffee (said the New Jersey way), puppies, and dark chocolate. You are free to pick anything, it just has to be easy to come back to them. These are the roots of your gratitude practice. Soooo, you've had two minutes and 30 seconds to think about yours... what are they? Either post them to a comment on Twitter or Instagram: @globalgratit2de or in our group's comment section. https://global-gratitude.mn.co/ or https://www.facebook.com/groups/globalgratitudejarSupport the show (https://paypal.me/GeoffreyBlake )

In Episode 2 I share the stories of Kelly Buckley, Author and Gratitude Community Organizer, as well as our own community member, Sheila, and how they used gratitude to navigate the grieving process. Kelly used JOLT, or Just One Little Thing, to keep going after she lost her dear son. Sheila had her practice and our community through a hard divorce and the months leading up to losing her dear mother. I lost my sister Elena in early 2020, and I can say that I processed all my pain and sadness in a way that I couldn't have imagined before my commitment to my gratitude practice. I hope you get something out of this podcast! Join a community or form your own. Start a journal and text a friend once a week that you're being consistent with it. Thank you for joining me, GB, for the first episode of Daily Gratitude. Tomorrow, I'll be here with episode #2. Showing up consistently in small ways is apparently my super power, so I am going to embrace that with this podcast. Luckily, it won't all be solo material. I absolutely cannot wait to have Deep Talks with my friends and peers. I don't do small talk well, but I'm super comfortable talking about the edges of the universe or the meaning of life in the first 5 minutes of meeting you. Thank you again for being a part of this journey with me!
