Celia Mendez is one of our missionaries. She serves in Gumbane village and has lived there for 13 years. Through much prayer and fasting, the community of Gumbane has become a beacon of light in Mozambique.
Pastors David and Tina Matthews are easily some of our favorite people. They are an absolute blessing to our lives and the lives of those around them. They have six children, all whom livein Alaska, and they are long term missonary pastors to one of the most remote places in our continenet and perhaps one of the coldest places on our planet. We travel to the most extreeme places on earth and whereever we go, we are sure to chase adventure. This places us in some interesting moments and at times we might twist an ankle or fall off of a makeshit ramp, but we have lived to tell the story. Jeremy and his family have an incredible story of how they end up at Far-flung. Although they have been part of it for some time now, God speaks to them through their kids and a series of dreams and experiences. About three years ago, Kyle is watching a documentary talking about the highest city on earth, next thing you know there is a team sharing the gospel and praying over people, in the most extreme city in the world. After a number of years of preaching the gospel, we have seen a amazing growth in people, and now they are going around doing the same thing. They are making disciples and sharing the gospel too. Brian Lindsey is a singer/songwriter and he wrote a few of the songs on the album. He briefly talks about his process and how the songs came about. Jeremy Caruthers is a worldclass producer, singer, songwriter, artist, and the list goes on. He produced and arranged, as well as wrote several songs on the album. He talks about the creative process for the album, a little about inspiration, and is transparent about the pressure to produce an album with such a unique, and fresh vibe. Tobin Shoemate is the worship pastor at Redemption to the nations church. Tobin is a singer/songwriter, worship leader and creative. In this episode he walks us through how him and his wife JoJo wrote "Take a Risk". He also talks about the challenges in writing for a pop style worship album.
Brian Lindsey and his wife Ashley, were the Lead Pastors of a strong and growing church in the greater Nashville area for several years. In 2021 they made the leap and left their church, sold their dream home, and finally moved to Chattanooga to be full-time at Far-Flung. Now they travel to several countries, they are frequent guest speakers at both churches and conferences, they also manage and seek out potential partners for Far-Flung. There is more to their story. From Kyle wanting to be a producer in Hollywood, then having a dream and sitting at a Mexican restaurant contemplating life, then suddenly starting a documentary based missions organization with no money, no cameras, no computers. Now,11 years later we travel to 6 countries, have missionaries in over 8 countries, have a kids show and, now a podcast. There are so many stories about our journey and we can't wait to share them with you.
