The first ever St. Louis combined City and County Economic Development Partnership Report was broadcast live on September 10, 2013. The purpose of the St. Louis Economic Development Partnership is to create a unified voice in St. Louis City and County economic development. The first annual Partnership Report examined how this collaboration is increasing global competitiveness, boosting local businesses and making St. Louis a better place to live and work overall.
The 2013 State of St. Louis Workforce highlighting new employer perceptions on key talent development issues such as the value of online degrees, industry-recognized certificates and experienced workers was released to over 450 business, education and community leaders, the largest public audience to date. This annual study of the regional economic landscape providing timely and critical workforce intelligence is developed by the Workforce Solutions Group of St. Louis Community College. The strategic partnerships and extensive research processes involved in the State of St. Louis Workforce, 2013 signifying the fifth consecutive year, ignite the innovation that brands St. Louis Community College a premiere provider of workforce education.
Students, alumni, faculty and friends stood shoulder-to-shoulder as they crowded the hallways of the Visual Arts Studio for the latest exhibit "Contemporary Icons: Recent Art from Bulgaria." Host Tim Gore spoke with Jeff Hughes, art professor and Hunt Gallery director, as he explained the significance of the exhibit. Nobel prize winner Mario Vargas Llosa will receive the Saint Louis University Literary Award. LLosa, a prolific author, was awarded the 2010 Nobel Prize in Literature. He is considered one of the most influential Latin American novelists of his time he is also an acclaimed essayist and journalist.
We spoke with veterans from five wars, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Persian Gulf, and Iraq, to learn what it meant to them to have served and how we can honor all veterans. Interspersed with footage and interviews from Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, we learn the history of this site and how they see veterans to their final rest.
