I’m John. I like beer, podcasting, and photography. Co-host of The Four Brewers Podcast.
I’ve never been much of a fan of the Pokémon series of games, cartoons, lore, etc, but Pokémon Let’s Go on the Nintendo Switch has changed that. I absolutely love this game and have a new found interest in the world of Pokémon.
When Matt Becker decided to leave the Four Brewers podcast, we, the remaining members of the show, decided to take a bit of a break to regroup, and I decided to use the break as an opportunity to be more creative. Today, I talk about using my iPad Pro as more of a tool than a toy, getting back to making more videos, and the future of the Four Brewers podcast.
The midterm elections have come and gone, and I for one, am glad…and tired.
It’s almost November 6, so don’t forget to vote! Until then, let’s pause for a moment and talk more about video games, specifically on Xbox One and iOS.
Today, I wanted to talk about how the Apple Watch Series 3 motivated me to start running and ultimately lose 78 pounds. Here are my notes for this episode. Apple Watch Series 2 - Never used the workout stuff on the watch - Wore it off and on - Watch has slow performance Series 3 - Bought it for cellular–really cool–much faster performance, streaming music - Got into Nike shoes through Gary Vee and saw Casey Neistat always raving about running. - Downloaded Nike’s running app, Nike Run Club - First run on Oct 4, 2017: 1.6 miles in 20 minutes–I was dead - Weighed 256 pounds that morning - Decided to try to stick with running - Decided to make effort to close the Apple Watch rings Running - Really, really sucked at first - Switch between treadmill and outdoors - Could not run one mile on the treadmill or outdoors without walking - First few runs were guided runs with Nike Run Club app, just with my watch, and AirPods, no cell phone - Learned from the second guided run that I wasn’t racing with anyone but myself, to listen to my body, and that there was no shame in slowing down or walking - Began running from my home to the track nearby and did laps. Was very difficult to run back home since it was uphill - Had a couple of injuries that made me stop for a week or two, but kept at it - Changed diet: stop eating lunch at work because I was never really hungry and would generally only eat because my partner at work ate. Now that I work alone, I still take my lunch break, but don’t eat unless I’m hungry. - Running got easier over time. - I ran longer distances: 8.3 miles was the longest. Was up to 35 miles/week - People started to notice dramatic weight loss, asked me if I was sick (a coworker recently passed away due to pancreatic cancer and he also had dramatically lost weight) Conclusion - Never gave up - Was honest with myself - Stuck with the diet - Kept running - Weight is staying off - Credit to Apple and the Watch, but I was my main motivator.
On today’s episode, I talk about that how things have been going with my new Xbox, streaming on Twitch, the new Apple Watch Series 4, and the new iPhone XS Max.
I recently purchased an Xbox One S during Prime Day, and I pretty much love it!
Following up on episode 1 and rambling about chores and relish.
My first microcast. Recorded with my iPhone 7 Plus as a test. I like the Auphonic integration a lot. Makes me want to buy an iOS microphone, though. Maybe I’ll just stick with my recording equipment in my studio for now… Today, I talk about getting organized.
