The Gospel message. The Gospel of Jesus Christ.Jesus is real. He's God's son. He loves you. He came to earth born as a baby and grew up, just like us, but was without sin. He came to preach, to teach, and to be an example for how to live. The Bible is his word. His word is true. We innately know right from wrong. Wrong is sin. We all sin. We know what we are supposed to do and we don't do it. We know what we are not supposed to do and we do it anyway. God cannot tolerate sin. He is completely disgusted by it and can't be around it. This is a huge problem for us. In the Old Testament, under the law, we could make atonement for our sins by bringing a perfect blood sacrifice to the priest. Hebrews 9:22 states: “Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.” However, a few verses later Hebrews 10:3-4 states: “But those sacrifices are an annual reminder of sins, because it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.” Jesus offered himself for us on the cross as the Lamb of God, a perfect blood sacrifice to take away our sins. 2 Corinthians 5:21 states: “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” Jesus takes our sin and puts it on himself, which is great news, but even better than that, he takes his righteousness and puts it on us. This puts us right with God and gives us a fresh start and the ability to have a relationship with him. Not because of anything we have done, but because of what Jesus did and because of his grace. On the third day, Jesus rose from the dead. He defeated death, hell, and the grave once and for all so that we can spend eternity with God in heaven. John 3:16 states: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Jesus showed himself to more than 500 people over 40 days and then ascended to heaven. He puts his Spirit inside us to help us. He wants us to follow him and teach others how to follow him as well. Those are the basics. The gospel is bottomless. We can spend the rest of our lives unpacking it, digging deeper into it, and expanding further on it. Let's get after it.---Billy Graham on Habakkuk - https://youtu.be/t7rdbHaoMZ4
