From the White House to Iran's former crown prince, proponents of the U.S.–Israel war on Iran sell it to the American people — and Iranians themselves — as a crusade for liberation. Instead, the regime remains in place as the death toll grows, environmental hazards proliferate, and civilian infrastructure is decimated. As if the destruction inside Iran itself wasn't enough, the war is starting to have serious ramifications for the global economy and, more to the point, expanding into neighboring countries.Lebanon, in particular, has come into Israel's crosshairs, with increasing Israeli incursions and missile strikes deeper into the country. The number of dead there is approaching 1,000 with Israeli missiles razing entire apartment blocks in central Beirut this week and a ground invasion getting underway. More than 1 million Lebanese people have been displaced.“I think the Lebanese are suffering now, and there's not really anyone who's trying to save them,” says Afeef Nessouli, a Beirut-based journalist, speaking to The Intercept Briefing. “They know that, and they know that they're just political pawns who are always at the worst end of the stick along with Palestine.” He adds, “The fear is that [Israel] will occupy south of Litani [River] ... and just take people's homes, take their land, and never give it back, make settlements for their country.”“It's been really stunning to watch that so many people fall for this idea of ‘This is a human rights intervention' — and yet it's accomplished through massive human rights violations,” says Ali Gharib, a senior editor at The Intercept. Commenting on Israel's strategy of making failed states out of its adversaries in the region, he notes, the Israelis “don't need [Reza] Pahlavi to work. They don't need him to go in there and become this democratic leader. They just need him to lead a movement that damages the regime enough to put Iran into some kind of fractured state or state failure where it's not a threat to Israel anymore.”“We've had in the last 20 to 25 years, especially since the Iraq War in 2003, a lobby pushing for regime change in Iran,” says Sanam Naraghi-Anderlini, a veteran peace strategist. “The Iraq version of regime change ended up being a catastrophe from a U.S. perspective, but actually from an Israeli perspective and from a Saudi perspective, and even from a UAE perspective, the decimation of Iraq has been a success because if Iraq had turned out to be a liberal democracy, it would've challenged Israel on the question of Palestine. It would've challenged Saudi Arabia on the question of Islam and what is Islam.”It's a region in upheaval, and at the center are Israeli and American fictions about liberatory bombs.“I've been on podcasts with Israeli journalists where they're telling me the Iranians wanted us to go in and liberate them,” says Naraghi-Anderlini, “And my response to them is: Liberate their bodies from their souls?”Listen to the full conversation of The Intercept Briefing on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, or wherever you listen.Keep our investigations free and fearless at theintercept.com/join. Today on Ascend: The Great Books Podcast, Dcn. Harrison Garlick and Fr. Patrick Biscoe, OP, discuss gluttony and lust in Dante's Purgatorio, Cantos 23-27.Check out thegreatbookspodcast.com for more information.Check out our LIBRARY OF WRITTEN GUIDES for the great books.Check out the Dominicans, the Order of Preachers.Check out Fr. Patrick Briscoe, OP, at Godsplaining Podcast. In this episode of Ascend: The Great Books Podcast, Deacon Harrison Garlick is joined by Dominican friar Fr. Patrick Briscoe, OP, currently serving in Rome as the Order's General Promoter for Social Communication. The conversation opens with Fr. Patrick explaining Dominican life, the charism of preaching rooted in study and contemplation, the historical significance of Santa Sabina, and the Order's ongoing vitality—especially through institutions like the Angelicum. The bulk of the episode then offers a close, theologically rich reading of the Purgatorio. The hosts explore how Dante structures these sins as forms of excessive or misdirected love, placing them high on the mountain because they are less grave than pride, envy, or wrath, yet still require deep purification. Key themes include the contrapasso of emaciated souls on the gluttony terrace, the “OMO DEI” face motif symbolizing refashioning in God's image, the role of intercessory prayer (especially Nella's for Forese Donati), the two instructive trees, medieval embryology and hylomorphism (how airy shades appear gaunt), and the wall of flame on the lust terrace. They highlight Dante's nuanced treatment of lust—treating both heterosexual excess (Pasiphaë/bestiality) and sodomy as incontinence—while emphasizing the praise of chaste marriage and the enduring good of ordered eros. The episode closes powerfully with Virgil's farewell in Canto 27, crowning Dante “lord of himself” once his will is aligned with the good, symbolizing true Christian freedom.Throughout, the discussion weaves literary analysis with practical spiritual application—especially apt for Lent—showing Purgatorio as a map for self-mastery, image perfection, and liberation from disordered desire. Fr. Patrick and Dcn. Garlick underscore Beatrice as an icon of divine beauty and grace, whose memory motivates Dante through the flames rather than being purged away. The episode ends with an invitation to reread the text, follow the Dominicans' work, and prepare for the Earthly Paradise cantos in the next installment.Chapters00:00 Introduction to Ascend and Dante's Purgatorio07:37 The Role of Communication in the Dominican Order13:24 Contrapasso and the Nature of Sin18:19 The Importance of Free Will in Purgatory24:03 The Interconnectedness of Souls29:49 Family Dynamics in the Afterlife35:59 Exploring Purgatory's Dynamics39:49 Consequences of Disordered Love43:43 Desires and Reason in Purgatory48:39 Understanding Gluttony and Vigilance52:13 Beatitudes and Spiritual Hunger57:07 Gradations of the Soul58:53 The Relationship Between Body and Soul01:02:02 The Finality of Body and Soul Reunion01:06:51 The Transition to Lust in Purgatory01:08:02 Contrasting Spirits on the Mountain01:08:30 Marian and Pagan Examples of Purity01:09:25 The Nature of Purification in Purgatory01:10:55 The Healing Power of Praise01:11:41 Understanding Sexuality and Love01:12:53 Dante's Quasi-Liturgical Procession01:14:02 The Psychology of Lust in Purgatory01:16:03 The Nature of Sin and Its Consequences01:17:48 The Unnaturalness of Lust01:19:33 The Direction of Souls in Purgatory01:20:55 The Role of Intercessory Prayer01:21:48 Dante's Final Challenge01:23:11 The Role of Beatrice in Dante's Journey01:25:38 Purification Through Love01:27:55 The Symbolism of Eyes and Intellect01:30:37 Virgil's Final Guidance to Dante01:34:13 The Aim of Lent and Self-MasteryFollowing us on X, Facebook, and More!
“Maybe what Jesus really wanted was to show us what we're all capable of—and that we've simply forgotten our own power.” — Kris Land In this mind‑expanding conversation, Mike sits down with author, spiritual thinker, and serial entrepreneur Kris Land to explore the provocative ideas behind his book The Infinity Within. Kris shares his extraordinary lifelong experiences—from childhood out‑of‑body moments to a near‑death incident that shattered his assumptions about reality. Along the way, he offers a bold framework for understanding the soul, reincarnation, emotion as the driver of existence, and life as a multidimensional game designed for growth. Whether you're spiritually curious or simply love a conversation that stretches the imagination, this one is a ride. Key Takeaways: A lifetime of unusual experiences shaped Kris's worldview—including early out‑of‑body events and a near‑death experience that provided “physical proof” something deeper was happening. Kris sees life as a game that souls choose to play—complete with rules, turns, and the challenge of experiencing emotion within time. Forgetfulness is part of the design: In Kris's model, souls agree to “forget” their abilities so they can meaningfully experience joy, loss, fear, and growth. Synchronicities aren't coincidences—he believes we orchestrate encounters for mutual learning, often without conscious awareness. Writing The Infinity Within shifted his entire understanding of spirituality, especially the possibility that Jesus acted more as teacher than pedestal. The book blends fiction and memoir through the character Gabe and mentor Elias, inviting readers to question their beliefs rather than adopt his. The audiobook narrator story is wild—a renowned voice actor paused all other projects to record Kris's book after reading just 15 minutes. In this episode of Spirit Talk, Brandee shares personal updates, energetic insights, and reflections on spiritual growth. From celebrating the end of daylight savings time to discussing collective awakening energy, this episode moves through real life, healing, and soul wisdom. In This Episode Finally Saying Goodbye to Daylight Savings The clocks have officially stopped changing where I live and I could not be happier. When I read the news I literally started dancing and ran to tell my kids. They were… significantly less excited than I was. But for me this feels like a small but meaningful victory for our daily rhythm and well-being. A Sweet Memory: Grandma's Lipstick A quick story and reflection inspired by a memory connected to my grandmother and lipstick. Here's the nudge to have your loved ones in spirit help you pick a symbol that represents them. A Magical Evening of Sound and Energy I attended a beautiful event at a wellness centre called Solidago. The space is incredible and the energy there is something special. The founder left a long career in education to build a spiritual wellness community and it shows in every detail of the space. The evening included a powerful sound experience that went far beyond a typical sound bath. The throat singer who performed created a deeply moving experience and I'll actually be featuring him on an upcoming episode of the podcast. Upcoming Speaking Event I'll be speaking at the Modern Medium Social in Pitt Meadows, BC on May 30th. I'm really excited to be part of this event and connect with the spiritual community there. Energy Update for March January and February felt strange energetically, but March feels different. There is a rising energy right now. Many people are feeling activated, like a fire has been lit under them. Another wave of spiritual awakening is happening. Some people are experiencing their first awakening, while others who woke up years ago are feeling another layer of activation. With awakening can come shock, anger, or frustration as people begin seeing corruption or dysfunction in systems they once trusted. That reaction is part of the process. What I'm really loving right now is the activation energy. People are waking up, stepping into awareness, and feeling called to move. Coming Soon: The Spirit Circle I'm currently developing something I'm incredibly excited about called the Spirit Circle. It will be a space where people can practice and develop their spiritual abilities together in a supportive environment. If you've been wanting a place to explore your intuitive gifts, this will be for you. Booking details will be available soon and I'll share more in an upcoming episode. Collective Card Pull For this episode I pulled Shape Shifter from the Angels and Ancestors deck by Kyle Gray. This card may actually be becoming a “stalker card” for the Spirit Talk collective. Its message is about transformation, adaptability, and the ability to move between energetic states as you evolve. Old Soul Wisdom We end the episode by talking about the idea of “old souls.” The term can easily be misunderstood. Being an old soul doesn't necessarily mean someone who has lived the most lifetimes. It really refers more to spiritual advancement and depth of experience. Some souls develop wisdom gradually across many lives. Others may gain profound growth in fewer incarnations through intense or accelerated experiences. Neither path is better than the other. Every soul has its own journey. Souls grow “old” through experience, not time. Before incarnating, souls often plan experiences that will help them learn what they still need to learn. Sometimes a soul may want to take on an extremely difficult life to grow quickly. Guides may caution them, but ultimately the journey belongs to the soul. If you feel like an old soul, your wisdom may have come from gradual growth, from hardship, or from a combination of both. However the path unfolded, awareness comes through lived experience. The readings for this homily: https://bible.usccb.org/bible/readings/031226.cfmFather Daniel Klimek, PhD, addresses the reality of spiritual warfare, explaining that life involves a cosmic battle between the Kingdom of Heaven and the Kingdom of Hell. Too often, the Gospel is watered down to a horizontal message of kindness, yet Christianity calls believers to a vertical relationship with God that empowers horizontal love. This deeper reality gives life eternal meaning as part of a great epic story, including a long battle between light and darkness.Father Daniel discusses the devil appearing to saints like Padre Pio, John Vianney, and Faustina, wise Christians who saw that praying for others infuriated the enemy and frustrated the designs of hell. Our Lady of Fatima revealed to the three shepherd children a vision of hell, explaining that many souls are lost because no one prays or sacrifices for them. Through prayer, fasting, and the Rosary, the faithful can help Jesus and Mary save souls from the grasp of the demonic.Believers should hope, not merely for mercy on the day of judgment, but to stand before God with thousands of souls saved through their intercession. Our particular jobs or state of life matters less than the universal vocation: Christian discipleship, which is meant to be lived so that we are each a radiant light bringing souls to Heaven. Saint John Vianney heard the devil say, "I hate you, Vianney, because you have taken more than a thousand souls from me."Temptation comes from three sources: the world, the flesh, and the devil. Not every temptation originates from the devil, and using him as a scapegoat is unhealthy. A strong spiritual life — daily prayer, frequent well-prepared reception of the Eucharist, spiritual reading, and custody of the senses — cultivates an interior life within a spiritual fortress that weakens concupiscence (the tendency of our fallen human nature toward sin).Rather than reciting prayers solely at day's end, believers should pray throughout the day. Invoking the sacred names of Jesus and Mary invites their presence. The final words of saints often include these names, showing intimacy with our Lord and Our Lady. Nothing should be done without them. ★ Support this podcast ★

EVEN MORE about this episode! Are sensitive children, ADHD, and autism signs of something deeper—like spiritual awakening or New Earth souls?Join Julie Ryan and intuitive healer Sherri Divband as they explore Indigo and Crystal children, conscious parenting, spiritual gifts in kids, and the evolution of human consciousness. Sherri shares her extraordinary journey from childhood trauma and survival to working with animals at the National Zoo, and ultimately receiving guidance from her unborn daughter about a revolutionary new model of education.Together, they explore the waves of Indigo, Crystal, Rainbow, Star, and Divine children, why so many struggle in traditional school systems, and how sensitivities to food, toxins, and overstimulation may reflect energetic awareness rather than dysfunction. From children remembering past lives to those perceiving energy fields, this episode invites parents, educators, and seekers to reconsider what's truly unfolding. Free DNA Activation Masterclass + 21-Day Abundance Meditation: https://masterclass.samuelbleemd.com/dnaPeptides I use personally to regenerate, heal, and stay sharp:https://limitlesslivingmd.com/samuelIn episode 107 of the Spiritual Psychiatrist, Dr. Samuel B. Lee, MD takes you through a mind-expanding solo transmission about the Purpose of Earth. He explores why so many galaxies and universes are invested in what happens here, how Earth functions as a multidimensional healing chamber, and why you may have chosen to incarnate during this epic turning point in humanity's history. Through a powerful opening frequency-setting prayer and a striking parable of Marla's foster home, Dr. Lee reveals a deeper truth: Earth isn't just a “school”… it's the living house that remembers—a planetary womb designed to help fractured beings restore what was lost, one soul at a time.Dr. Lee shares how Earth was originally built as a living library and DNA restoration environment, describing the base twelve eternal life code, the 12-stargate system, and why human beings are far more than “3D.” This episode dives deep into tri-wave plasma currents, the idea of Earth as a cosmic switchboard, and the spiritual science of how coherence, breath, and the courage to feel reactivate the connection between Earth and higher-dimensional networks. You'll also be guided through a closing meditation to restore the Earth–Cosmos communication link, anchoring the message that your remembrance isn't just personal—it's planetary.Sacred Truths & Lessons from This Episode:• Earth isn't a trap—it's a restoration chamber designed for remembrance• You are not 3D—you are a multidimensional being with dormant DNA memory• Love is the glue that reunites the “jigsaw puzzle” of souls and star lineages• When you heal and realign, you send corrective signals into Earth's field• Communication returns through coherence, breath, and the courage to feel• Your remembrance helps Mother Earth remember—and that echoes into the cosmos

In this episode, we continue our Lenten book study on "The Way of Trust and Love" and focus on Chapter 2: An Elevator for Small Children. We talk about the quiet places of discouragement, and self-reliance that keep us striving instead of surrendering. We also reflect about how radical dependence on God is not laziness, the subtle ways we resist being little before a loving Father, and how our poverty is a doorway into deeper trust. This week, we invite you to fall into the Father's arms, allow Him to pick you up, and rest in the One who delights in you. Samm spins us an ancient Zen love tragedy (that might even have a happy ending?), and helps us heal the one breakup we urgently need to mend, the splits in our selves and souls. What parts of our realities are we unable or unwilling to see? Have we ever been truly awake, or been safe enough to get an honest night's sleep? When is or is it not time to go off to the mountains and never come back, jump off a moonlit cliff? Find out here!

In this powerful returning episode of Unleashing Intuition Secrets, Michael Jaco welcomes intuitive transformational energy healer and author Sherri Divband for a wide-ranging discussion on healing, consciousness, and the shifting realities many are experiencing today. Sherri shares insights from her recent visit to Charleston's Angel Tree and discusses her five-year mission to launch Aramis Creative Learning Centers — a humanitarian-funded educational model built on animal-assisted learning, project-based education, and on-campus wellness centers utilizing frequency and energy-based healing modalities. Her vision focuses on supporting neurodivergent and anxious children while also awakening adults to new levels of awareness and responsibility. The conversation explores complex and timely themes, including illness and psychotic episodes she reports seeing in client sessions, the role of intention and sovereignty for protection, collective division tactics, and the importance of neutrality during times of uncertainty. Sherri and Michael dive into deeper metaphysical territory — discussing observer and guardian souls, multidimensional “pocket civilizations,” ascension symptoms such as short-term memory loss, recurring number sequences, and the concept of timeline jumps. The discussion centers on how consciousness, perception, and personal alignment may influence the realities individuals experience. Sherri also shares updates on upcoming events, fundraisers, and her new children's book focused on anxiety and emotional resilience. This episode blends spiritual insight, humanitarian vision, and multidimensional awareness — offering listeners a thought-provoking exploration of healing, sovereignty, and the evolving human experience.

For over 50 years, For the Strength of Youth has been a guide for generations of Latter-day Saint youth. I always keep a copy in my pocket, and I share it with people who are curious about our standards. It has been updated and refreshed to better cope with the challenges and temptations of our day. The new version of For the Strength of Youth is available online in 50 different languages and will also be available in print. It will be a significant help for making choices in your life. Please embrace it as your own and share it with your friends. This new version of For the Strength of Youth is subtitled A Guide for Making Choices. To be very clear, the best guide you can possibly have for making choices is Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the strength of youth. So the purpose of For the Strength of Youth is to point you to Him. It teaches you eternal truths of His restored gospel—truths about who you are, who He is, and what you can accomplish with His strength. It teaches you how to make righteous choices based on those eternal truths.13 It's also important to know what For the Strength of Youth does not do. It doesn't make decisions for you. It doesn't give you a “yes” or “no” about every choice you might ever face. For the Strength of Youth focuses on the foundation for your choices. It focuses on values, principles, and doctrine instead of every specific behavior. The Lord, through His prophets, has always been guiding us in that direction. He is pleading with us to “increase [our] spiritual capacity to receive revelation.”14 He is inviting us to “hear Him.”15 He is calling us to follow Him in higher and holier ways.16 And we are learning in a similar way every week in Come, Follow Me. We are proud to have fed millions of people and provided more than 15.7 billion dollars in aid. Our faith inspires us to be an organization built on compassion, and motivated by love. Our mission is to bring relief to the poorest of the poor in the countries where we serve. We strive to reflect God's unconditional love. It's a sacrificial love that embraces all people regardless of race or religion. When President Trump shared a racist video on his Truth Social account last week, the blowback was real. But the video is also part of a tradition that has existed in the U.S. since the early 1800s — of using "humor" to spread and crystallize racist ideals. On this episode, we speak with Raul Perez, the author of "The Souls of White Jokes: How Racist Humor Fuels White Supremacy," who tells us how making fun of Black people was crucial to constructing "whiteness" — and perpetuating white supremacy — in the early days of the U.S.Learn more about sponsor message choices: podcastchoices.com/adchoicesNPR Privacy Policy
