This is a Grave Talks CLASSIC EPISODE!!!High above St. Joseph, Missouri, stands a mansion too proud — and too haunted — to ever die. Built in 1854 by Armstrong Beattie, a five-time mayor and banker, and his wife Eliza, the Beattie Mansion has seen everything from elegance to sorrow. Over the years, it became a refuge for the homeless, orphans, and the elderly — but many believe some of its guests never truly checked out.Today, the mansion's long history still echoes through its halls — in whispers, footsteps, and cold spots that appear out of nowhere. Armstrong and Eliza's spirits are said to linger, forever watching over their home like spectral landlords. Contractors hired to work on the building often don't last long. Tools vanish. Doors slam. And unseen hands seem to make their disapproval known. For nearly 170 years, the Beattie Mansion has been a monument to both Missouri's history and its hauntings — a place where the past is still very much alive.Join us as we sit down with current owner Michael Burkart, who's experienced firsthand what it's like to live — and work — alongside the dead. A quiet "integrity crisis" is unfolding in the lives of many Christian leaders and prophetic voices. We are living in an age where wealth is prioritized over wounded souls. Influence is measured by followers, numbers, platforms, and revenue streams rather than the heart of a leader who faithfully stewards God's flock. The Spirit of Mammon has crept into pulpits, churches, Christian leadership circles, social media platforms, and prophetic spaces. What once centered on shepherding souls has shifted toward building brands. What once demanded integrity is now too often replaced with image, strategy, and financial gain. This kind of leadership destroys God's people, erodes prophetic purity, incentivizes compromise, and tempts leaders to prioritize wealth over souls. A truthful question every leader must ask: Are you being led by God … or influenced by the enemy?   Blessings-  Melia's Services -> Faith-Based Services Melia's Books ->Best-Selling Books Hire Melia for Event -> Melia's Media Kit Melia's Courses -> Vertical Relationship Academy

In this episode, we ask a difficult question: Why would Jesus send his disciples straight into a storm he knew was coming? As the wind drives them farther from shore and fear overtakes them, we discover that the real battle isn't against the waves—it's against the doubt that God's promise could fail. Peter's cry, "Lord, save me," becomes our own, as Christ shows that faith doesn't come from our courage, but from hearing his Word: "Take heart. It is I. Do not be afraid."GOSPEL Matthew 14:22-33 22 Immediately he made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead to the other side, while he dismissed the crowds. 23 And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone, 24 but by this time the boat, battered by the waves, was far from the land, for the wind was against them. 25 And early in the morning he came walking toward them on the sea. 26 But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, saying, "It is a ghost!" And they cried out in fear. 27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them and said, "Take heart, it is I; do not be afraid." 28 Peter answered him, "Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water." 29 He said, "Come." So Peter got out of the boat, started walking on the water, and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he noticed the strong wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, "Lord, save me!" 31 Jesus immediately reached out his hand and caught him, saying to him, "You of little faith, why did you doubt?" 32 When they got into the boat, the wind ceased. 33 And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, "Truly you are the Son of God."CARE OF SOULS: DEATHIn Care of Souls, a special mini-series podcast from Luther House of Study, Lutheran pastors and theologians come together to explore the deeply personal and pastoral task of preaching to and caring for those facing death, grief, and loss.Rooted in the theology of the cross and the Lutheran tradition of radical grace, this series offers both theological depth and practical guidance for pastors, church workers, and lay leaders.Across five episodes, the hosts tackle tough but essential questions on death:How does Lutheran theology speak uniquely to death and grief? What does faithful pastoral care look like when walking alongside those who mourn? How can pastors offer both honesty and hope in the face of tragedy and loss? What does ministry look like when death impacts the pastor as well as the congregation? Why do funerals matter, and what is God giving through them? With conversations, real-life stories, and reflections from the front lines of ministry, Care of Souls equips listeners to enter the sorrow of death not with easy answers, but with the crucified and risen Christ.Because in the end, it's not about avoiding death—it's about hearing the Gospel from the One who has passed through death and opened the way to life.Listen to Care of Souls wherever you listen to podcasts or on the Luther House website: Care of SoulsSupport the showInterested in sponsoring an episode of Scripture First?Email Sarah at sarah@lhos.org or visit our donation page: lutherhouseofstudy.org/donate

I always keep a copy in my pocket, and I share it with people who are curious about our standards. It has been updated and refreshed to better cope with the challenges and temptations of our day. The new version of For the Strength of Youth is available online in 50 different languages and will also be available in print. It will be a significant help for making choices in your life. Please embrace it as your own and share it with your friends. This new version of For the Strength of Youth is subtitled A Guide for Making Choices. To be very clear, the best guide you can possibly have for making choices is Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the strength of youth. So the purpose of For the Strength of Youth is to point you to Him. It teaches you eternal truths of His restored gospel—truths about who you are, who He is, and what you can accomplish with His strength. It teaches you how to make righteous choices based on those eternal truths.13 It's also important to know what For the Strength of Youth does not do. It doesn't make decisions for you. It doesn't give you a “yes” or “no” about every choice you might ever face. For the Strength of Youth focuses on the foundation for your choices. It focuses on values, principles, and doctrine instead of every specific behavior. The Lord, through His prophets, has always been guiding us in that direction. He is pleading with us to “increase [our] spiritual capacity to receive revelation.”14 He is inviting us to “hear Him.”15 He is calling us to follow Him in higher and holier ways.16 And we are learning in a similar way every week in Come, Follow Me.     ACU Endorsed Charities -------------------------------------------------------- Pre-Born! The Church Of The Souls Evolution with The Reverend Blake Rubie (Ordained Minister) Time Travel, Soul Evolution, and the Prayer That Can Change the World Reverend Blake Rubie reflects on singing, service, extraterrestrials, time travel, afterlife judgment, world conflict, prayer, and the soul's journey, urging listeners to love one another, respect the human family, and help guide Earth toward peace. Everyday Life, Date Night, and Toastmasters In this episode of The Church of the Soul's Evolution, Reverend Blake Rubie opens with a personal update from San Antonio, mentioning the weather, a movie date night with his wife, and their new Friday-night routine of going out together. He also discusses attending a Toastmasters meeting that morning, where he gave a short speech he later expands on during the broadcast. The corrected transcript notes that Blake's spiritual, metaphysical, political, and personal reflections are preserved as his statements, while claims about extraterrestrials, time travel, hell, world politics, and religious belief are not independently verified. Singing, Military Cadence, and Service to Wounded Warriors Blake spends a major portion of the early episode reflecting on his lifelong connection to singing. He traces that gift back to his Army service beginning in 1982, when he sang cadence during infantry training and later carried that love of music into karaoke, church choir, and personal practice. He describes singing for wounded warriors at the Warrior and Family Support Center on Fort Sam Houston as one of the best things he has done, recalling how he brought equipment, performed during lunch gatherings, and used music as a quiet form of service, encouragement, and praise. The Sun, Spirit, Hell, and the Recorded Life The episode then moves into Blake's metaphysical view of the sun, spirit, death, and afterlife judgment. He describes human beings as spirits in material bodies, says every second of life is recorded, and presents dreams as times when the spirit leaves the body and travels into “dream land.” Blake also gives an intense description of hell or purgatory as a temporary place of painful rehabilitation for deeply harmful people, while emphasizing that the Creator is ultimately merciful and that souls continue their journey after correction. Creation, Extraterrestrials, and the Universe of Many Beings Blake expands his reflections into a cosmology that includes the Big Bang, a male-and-female Creator, four forces of the universe, and thousands of extraterrestrial civilizations. He describes many types of beings — humanoids, greys, beings of light, hermaphroditic beings, and advanced races from other planets and galaxies — and frames Earth as a young species being helped by older souls and more advanced civilizations. He also suggests that some billionaires and powerful people may be younger souls who make life difficult for others on this planet. Time Travel, Living Spacecraft, and Parallel Reality The central teaching comes from Blake's Toastmasters speech on time travel. He describes extraterrestrial spacecraft as living entities, possibly made from plant matter, crystalline structure, and other materials, piloted through consciousness and advanced mind-machine interaction. Blake says some beings can accelerate close to the speed of light, harness universal energy, and transition into a parallel or spiritual universe where time can be traveled as a location or trail. In his explanation, travelers re-enter the physical universe at a chosen point in history, then return by riding the parallel-universe path forward while avoiding the danger of returning to the same place and time as their earlier selves. Thiaoouba, Guardianship, Nuclear Danger, and Free Will Blake also discusses extraterrestrials from Thiaoouba, describing them as nine-foot-tall hermaphroditic guardians who have interacted with Earth for thousands of years and are represented, in his view, by the statues on Easter Island. He presents advanced civilizations as responsible for helping lower civilizations, but says they cannot override human free will except in rare moments of crisis or divine intervention. This leads into his warning about nuclear weapons, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and the possibility that civilizations must suffer consequences if they choose self-destruction rather than peaceful cooperation. Prayer, Peace, Palestine, Iran, and the Human Family The final section turns toward peace, prayer, and human dignity. Blake argues that Earth is a difficult school for the soul, but that people can still make the world better by loving one another, respecting human life, and praying for others. He speaks emotionally about Palestine, Israel, October 7th, Iran, war, innocent civilians, Trump, political division, and the inability of nations to talk through conflict. He closes by calling on “prayer warriors” to pray for the world, asking the Creator to help humanity survive, continue its soul evolution, and learn to love each other more fully.

225: Tantra, Touch and Connection: What Cathy Wood Wants Every Couple to Know

    The Penis Project

Episode Overview:  Melissa has been wanting to have this conversation for over a year. She first came across Cathy's work when two quite conservative couples independently told her a weekend tantra retreat had genuinely changed their relationship. Intrigued, Melissa enrolled (without mentioning what she did for a living) and attended with her husband. They both found it valuable. This episode is the result of that curiosity.  Cathy has been teaching tantra for decades, having first encountered the philosophy at age twenty through a GP who introduced her to the idea of loving and accepting her own body. She trained in India, continued her studies in Perth, and now runs Sanctuary of Ananda, a platinum-approved, internationally certified tantra school offering couples retreats, individual sessions, workshops, and online programs. She is also a published author.   The conversation covers tantra's broader philosophy (think tree, not just its roots), how it applies differently across life stages, what we can learn from it, and why emotional connection, what Cathy calls "emotional sex"  is the cake, while physical sex is just the icing. Cathy also addresses the misconceptions head-on: no, it is not a room full of naked people. It is fully clothed, accredited, and grounded in self-knowledge.    Golden Tip: Tantra is not what most people think it is. Tantra actually is a philosophy of self-knowledge, connection and embodied living and how its practices can help couples at any stage of life feel more connected, understood and alive.     In This Episode, We Cover  Tantra is a philosophy of self-knowledge: the sexual practices are just the bottom branches of a much larger tree  Mismatched desire is normal and cyclical, not a sign something is broken  Emotional intimacy is the foundation of physical connection, not the other way around  Men need love, nurturing and non-sexual physical affection just as much as women do  One person changing how they show up in a relationship can shift the whole dynamic  Tantra is suitable for singles as well as couples, in person and online    Key Message from Cathy   Cathy's work is grounded in the belief that every human being, regardless of age, gender, or relationship status, has the capacity for deep intimacy and pleasure. Tantra offers a practical pathway to get there, one breath and one honest conversation at a time.    Resources & Links  Click here for Cathy's website: Sanctuary of Ananda.  Cathy's Facebook: Sanctuary of Souls.  Book a telehealth appointment with our sexual health nurse practitioners at Restorative Health Clinic  For more information check out our websites www.rshealth.com.au , www.makehardeasy.com.au and www.melissahadleybarrett.com.au     Book a telehealth consultation with our sexual health nurse practitioners:  Restorative Health Clinic    For more information visit our websites:  www.rshealth.com.au  www.makehardeasy.com.au  www.melissahadleybarrett.com    Need Support?  At Restorative Health Clinic, we support men and their partners with:  Penile rehabilitation after prostate cancer treatment  Erectile dysfunction  Vacuum pump and constriction ring education and prescription  Penile injection therapy  Intimacy and sexual recovery  Partner-inclusive support where appropriate  Practical, evidence-based strategies for rebuilding confidence and function    We offer telehealth consultations Australia-wide and internationally, making it easier for men to access experienced, compassionate support no matter where they live. In this episode, we ask what happens when your needs exceed your resources. As Jesus feeds the five thousand, the disciples reach the end of what they can provide, but Christ refuses to let their limitations set the agenda, revealing instead a kingdom defined by his compassion and abundant provision. The miracle isn't simply that bread multiplies—it's that Jesus gives exactly what his people need, reminding us that God's blessings are received with thanksgiving, not controlled by our demands.GOSPEL Matthew 14:13-2113 Now when Jesus heard this, he withdrew from there in a boat to a deserted place by himself. But when the crowds heard it, they followed him on foot from the towns. 14 When he went ashore, he saw a great crowd; and he had compassion for them and cured their sick. 15 When it was evening, the disciples came to him and said, "This is a deserted place, and the hour is now late; send the crowds away so that they may go into the villages and buy food for themselves." 16 Jesus said to them, "They need not go away; you give them something to eat." 17 They replied, "We have nothing here but five loaves and two fish." 18 And he said, "Bring them here to me." 19 Then he ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven, and blessed and broke the loaves, and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds. 20 And all ate and were filled; and they took up what was left over of the broken pieces, twelve baskets full. 21 And those who ate were about five thousand men, besides women and children.CARE OF SOULS: DEATHIn Care of Souls, a special mini-series podcast from Luther House of Study, Lutheran pastors and theologians come together to explore the deeply personal and pastoral task of preaching to and caring for those facing death, grief, and loss.Rooted in the theology of the cross and the Lutheran tradition of radical grace, this series offers both theological depth and practical guidance for pastors, church workers, and lay leaders.Across five episodes, the hosts tackle tough but essential questions on death:How does Lutheran theology speak uniquely to death and grief?

We not only get a blast from the past discussion with Sid about working on "Spider Baby", but we also recently sat down with Beverly Washburn to get her memories of the film as well as her take on the legacy this movie has had on her life and fans around the world. Then after the interviews with the stars of the film we settle in for a lengthy discussion on this horror classic and many of the reasons it not only still holds up today - but was also way ahead of its time.  And while we bust out our cheap, horror VHS tapes, we also mention… Pasadena Playhouse, horrible bastardized version of the nuclear family, having a passion for something, Zacherley, worldwide fanbase, House of 1000 Corpses, the creepy girl "type", self referential horror, Carnival of Souls, buy your alter ego a top hat, Ozzie and Harriet, you regress more until you just become an animal, Dusty Bluffs, upper class deviants, operating on instinct, unconditional love, Beetlejuice, handled in monster kid fashion, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, these kids today, Pit Stop, independent filmmaking, fighting their demons, going no contact with your family, Scream, the missing link of horror movies, Leave it to Beaver, completely unburdened by psychosis, professional playfulness, Wednesday Addams, cleaning up the sound, psychological warfare at the dinner table, the mummy movies, and it all started at Ralphs grocery.  Spoiler Alert: Full spoilers as we dig into the entirety of "Spider Baby" - so go watch the movie. "You know, I think I'm learning a lot about life… from Spider Baby."

Sermon TextPsalm 42-43To the choirmaster. A Maskil of the Sons of Korah. As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God? My tears have been my food day and night, while they say to me all the day long, Where is your God? These things I remember, as I pour out my soul: how I would go with the throng and lead them in procession to the house of God with glad shouts and songs of praise, a multitude keeping festival. Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God. My soul is cast down within me; therefore I remember you from the land of Jordan and of Hermon, from Mount Mizar. Deep calls to deep at the roar of your waterfalls; all your breakers and your waves have gone over me. By day the LORD commands his steadfast love, and at night his song is with me, a prayer to the God of my life. I say to God, my rock: Why have you forgotten me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy? As with a deadly wound in my bones, my adversaries taunt me, while they say to me all the day long, Where is your God? Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God. Vindicate me, O God, and defend my cause against an ungodly people, from the deceitful and unjust man deliver me! For you are the God in whom I take refuge; why have you rejected me? Why do I go about mourning because of the oppression of the enemy? Send out your light and your truth; let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy hill and to your dwelling! Then I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy, and I will praise you with the lyre, O God, my God. Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God.Psalm 43:2For you are the God in whom I take refuge; why have you rejected me? Why do I go about mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?Matthew 26:36-39Then Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to his disciples, Sit here, while I go over there and pray. And taking with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he began to be sorrowful and troubled. Then he said to them, My soul is very sorrowful, even to death; remain here, and watch with me. And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, saying, My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.Matthew 27:43He trusts in God; let God deliver him now, if he desires him. For he said, ‘I am the Son of God.'Psalm 43:5Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God.Psalm 43:3-4Send out your light and your truth; let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy hill and to your dwelling! Then I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy, and I will praise you with the lyre, O God, my God.Hebrews 6:19-20We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf, having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.

In February I had to put my cat, Viracocha, down, and in June my father ended up in a coma and eventually passed away. Both experiences have come with their own stories and lessons, which I've been digesting as life keeps moving forward. As my life's story typically unfolds, working with plant allies such as Iboga, Mapacho, Cacao, Ayahuasca, and a new wild card called "KnockKnock" has enabled me to travel deeper into these lessons.Aaaand right when I thought things had settled, I got hit with a wild turn of events after getting my DNA results back. These deaths have taught me about what is real and true in this world, and how I choose to live within it.HighlightsI walk you through finding out my cat had lung cancer, the day of her death, and the iboga ceremony the next dayMusings on grief and death as a fact all humans shareThe story of finding out about my dad's fall, the moment I found out he died, and how optional the suffering around both deaths turned out to beProcessing the inevitability of my own death while working with Mapacho and CacaoThe DNA results that turned me for a loopShow Notes: Journey of Souls by Michael Newton Destiny of Souls by Michael Newton Only Love is Real by Brian WeissProof of Heaven by Eben Alexander, MDNo Self, No Problem: How Neuropsychology Is Catching Up to Buddhism by Chris Niebauer, Ph.DLearn more about the School of Whispers: www.schoolofwhispers.comIf you'd like to learn more about working with me, click here. What if every one of these parables is describing the same thing from a different angle? In this episode, Jesus paints a picture of a kingdom that grows like a seed, spreads like yeast, captures you like hidden treasure, and frees you from the endless anxiety of trying to prove you belong. The kingdom of heaven isn't something you do enough to get into—it's God's promise at work, giving you a future that no longer depends on your performance but on Christ's faithfulness.GOSPEL Matthew 13:31-33,44-52 31 He put before them another parable: "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that someone took and sowed in his field; 32 it is the smallest of all the seeds, but when it has grown it is the greatest of shrubs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches." 33 He told them another parable: "The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed in with three measures of flour until all of it was leavened."44 "The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which someone found and hid; then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. 45 "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls; 46 on finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had and bought it. 47 "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net that was thrown into the sea and caught fish of every kind; 48 when it was full, they drew it ashore, sat down, and put the good into baskets but threw out the bad. 49 So it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come out and separate the evil from the righteous 50 and throw them into the furnace of fire, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 51 "Have you understood all this?" They answered, "Yes." 52 And he said to them, "Therefore every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven is like the master of a household who brings out of his treasure what is new and what is old."CARE OF SOULS: DEATHIn Care of Souls, a special mini-series podcast from Luther House of Study, Lutheran pastors and theologians come together to explore the deeply personal and pastoral task of preaching to and caring for those facing death, grief, and loss.Rooted in the theology of the cross and the Lutheran tradition of radical grace, this series offers both theological depth and practical guidance for pastors, church workers, and lay leaders.Across five episodes, the hosts tackle tough but essential questions on death:How does Lutheran theology speak uniquely to death and grief?
