What happens at Jesus' water baptism? What does it mean that Jesus will baptize with the Holy Spirit? And what does it mean for Jesus to be the “Lamb of God?” Taught by Jose Zayas
Every story of redemption bleeds. From Genesis to Revelation, the theme is the same: sin brings death, but God provides a substitute. In Eden, He clothed Adam and Eve with the skin of a sacrifice. In Exodus, a lamb's blood on the doorposts saved Israel's firstborn. But at the Jordan River, John the Baptist pointed and declared, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.”For centuries, people had brought their lambs to God. That day, God brought His Lamb to the people.Jesus wasn't a victim of Rome or religion. He was the willing substitute. Isaiah 53 says, “He was pierced for our transgressions; He was crushed for our iniquities.” The cross wasn't an accident — it was an altar.Sin demanded justice. Love supplied Jesus. When He hung there, He absorbed every ounce of wrath that should've been ours. Every sin, every shame, every secret — nailed, judged, and finished. You don't need to carry guilt another day. Grace doesn't deny your sin; it declares it paid in full. The Lamb of God didn't just cover sin temporarily — He canceled it eternally. So when you stumble, don't hide in shame. Run to the Lamb. He's not surprised; He's already paid.
Early in the gospel of John, we read these wonderful words spoken by John the Baptist, "Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world." It's as if God himself couldn't wait any longer to introduce to the reader His own well-beloved Son - and who He was - the lamb of God. Have you ever looked at your sins and failures and honestly acknowledged that you are a sinner needing God's forgiveness? Then, a lamb is what you need, and you would be wise to take the one that God has provided for you.

Through this message we discover the beauty and power of Jesus being 'The Lamb Of God' as we connect Jesus to the ancient Hebrew tradition of animal sacrifice and the Passover Lamb, symbolizing that His death is the perfect and final payment for sin, that liberates people from spiritual slavery to sin. Dr. Camden Bucey speaks at the Reformed Forum Annual Theology Conference, held at Lakeland Church in Gurnee, Illinois on September 27, 2025. Dr. Bucey weaves together the themes of the previous lectures into one coherent narrative centered on Christ. The address establishes that the entire grand narrative of Scripture, from the promise of the serpent-crushing seed in Eden to the apocalyptic visions of Daniel, is converging on the single, brilliant point of Christ's person and work. Dr. Bucey emphasizes that Christ's incarnation, life, death, resurrection, and ascension constitute the central objective act of redemption and bring the era of special revelation to its completion. The focus is on Jesus Christ as the Lamb of God, who is the ultimate fulfillment of all covenant promises and redemptive types, particularly the Passover, and the one who brings history to its appointed, glorious consummation, which is the eternal Sabbath rest of God's kingdom. Aprocalypse Revealed 717. 14. These shall fight with the Lamb, but the Lamb shall overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings, signifies the Lord's fight with them about the acknowledgment of His Divine Human, because the Lord in that [Human] is the God of heaven and earth, and also is the Word. Arcana Coelestia 10132[3] 'The lamb' means the good of innocence in general, and the inmost good of innocence in particular. This is clear from the fact that it is mentioned first, and also from the fact that the Lord Himself is referred to as the Lamb . That the good of love to the Lord, called celestial good, constitutes the good of innocence is clear from those who are in the inmost heaven. Because they have that good within them they appear naked, as young children; they do so because nakedness depicts innocence, as does early childhood, see the places referred to in 9277, and what has been stated in 3887, 9680. Since the Lord when He was in the world was — as to His Human — Innocence itself, and since for this reason innocence emanates wholly from Him, the Lord is called the Lamb, and the Lamb of God Third Round posts are short audio clips taken from Round 3 comments in the online Logopraxis Life Group meetings. The aim is to maintain focus on understanding the Text's application to the inner life while reinforcing key LP principles highlighted in the exchanges.
In this message from John 1:35–42, we see what truly happens when a sinner believes that Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. As John the Baptist points his followers to Christ, we witness how genuine believers begin to tell others about Jesus, follow Him personally, bring others to meet Him, and experience real change as God works in them as only He can. Transforming Perspectives | Having our names written in the Lamb's Book of Life, is an obscured authentication of believer's Faith in Jesus Christ. Biblically, it is a wondrous act, conveyed when Jesus spoke to Nicodemus, of one's proof of having entered into the kingdom of God, born of the Spirit. The Lamb's book of life, distinct from the book of life, contains the records of every person having accepted Jesus Christ, as the righteousness of God, and the propitiation for their sins, the atoning sacrifice satisfying the penalty of death, and becoming born again. Formidably, the book of life, are accountings and recordation of all creation as well as all humanity on earth. This Book is more than ledgers as men would believe, but actuaries in the realm of the counsel of God. Archives of his knowledge and observance of every person, as expressed by David, exalting Almighty God, “Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet, there was none of them.” Psalms 139:16, English Standard Version. In the Book of Revelation, Apostle John, received in visions, Letters from the Lord written to the ‘Seven Churches,' exhorting of them his assessment of their Faith. Noteworthy, are the significances of the Lord's frankness, timing and urgency of the delivered messages. An erroneous assumption for believers of the prophetic narrative, is to overlook or underestimate the audience defining each Church to whom the Lord addresses and of their position of Faith, as Jesus says, “He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.”This single declaration from John the Baptist captures the heart of the gospel. From Abraham's altar to the Passover in Egypt, from Isaiah's Suffering Servant to the cross of Christ, the image of the Lamb weaves through all of Scripture. In Jesus, the Lamb becomes both sacrifice and sovereign — the one who conquers not by force, but through self-giving love. The Lamb who was slain now reigns upon the throne, and His blood not only redeems humanity but restores creation itself. To behold the Lamb is to behold the very heart of God — holy love revealed through humble obedience, divine power expressed through sacrificial grace.

Here in Mark 14:12–21, we see Jesus presented as both the sacrificial Passover Lamb, and the sovereign Son of Man, whose betrayal by Judas fulfills divine prophecy while demonstrating God's ultimate triumph over evil. Through the preparation of the Passover meal, we see Jesus' divine control and foreknowledge, teaching us that His death was not an accident but the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy. The betrayal by Judas is both a tragic act of human responsibility as well as a necessary part of God's sovereign plan.

Behold the Lamb of God (Dave Sloop+; 9/28/2025) by Church of the Holy Spirit - Roanoke
September 22, 2025 | Daniel Harris walks through John 1 which highlights Jesus as the spotless and sacrificial Lamb of God. God calls us to behold Him with true awe and worship. We are reminded that Christ, perfect and without sin, gave Himself for us, and our hearts should respond with wonder and gratitude.
The Old Testament sacrificial system pointed forward to the time when the ultimate sacrifice would be made by Jesus Christ.
Aloha and welcome to The Mission North Shore's podcast! In this passage of John 1:19-34, we see John the Baptist point to Jesus as 'the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world,' we're confronted with a profound truth: our Savior came not as a conquering king, but as a sacrificial lamb. This imagery, deeply rooted in Old Testament symbolism from the Passover to the temple sacrifices, reveals God's consistent plan of redemption throughout history. This message calls us to examine our hearts: Are we open to recognizing God's work in our lives, even when it doesn't match our expectations?
The final hours of Jesus are upon us. Jesus prepares to celebrate the Passover meal with his disciples, but tells them that one of them will betray him. He then declares that he is the Passover's ultimate fulfillment and his body and blood would soon be poured out for them. It is through this meal that we see Jesus, the Lamb of God, prepared and provided for us as a ransom for many. Throughout the centuries, men and women have reflected deeply on this meal, but we might think nothing of it. Communion is a meal that helps us remember that life isn't found in anything else but Jesus. Through this meal, we come and find rest for our hearts through the provision of the Lamb for our sins.
