Welcome to LEGupward Inclusion Spotlight: Making the Invisible Visible, with me, Dr. Aparajita (AJ) Jeedigunta. This is a show about shining the spotlight on people to make them more visible. I love having candid, organic conversations with people from all walks of life, about their beautiful journe…
In this episode, I have a chat with Coach Latarsha Horne, one of my favorite coaches in the whole world. Coach Tarsh is also a person that I deeply admire, and someone from whom I had the distinct privilege of getting coached in a peer coaching round for ICF. Coach Tarsh drops so much knowledge and wisdom throughout the whole episode. Some of my favorite moments are her explanation of how to build a sensible, implementable initative, what she thinks are the gaps in DEI efforts right now, and, last but certainly not the least, her explanation of motivation vs. inspiration. I bet that in itself is going to change your worldview on its head! You can get in touch with Coach Latarsha Horne on: Facebook Twitter Instagram LinkedIn YouTube Email: tarsh@thetarshnetwork.com LEGupward Inclusion Spotlight: Making the Invisible Visible is now also available on iHeartRadio!
In this episode, I have an in depth conversation with NLC St. Louis Alum, Sheela Lal (Class of 2017) about her work in South Asia as a Fulbright Scholar studying Sri Lankan cinema, the arts, Indian-American identity in the United States and what inclusion truly means for us. Sheela Lal asks some extremely thought provoking questions that are surely a must listen! You can get in touch with Sheela on Twitter and Instagram: @queenofblah
In this episode, I chat with Queer woman extraordinaire, Briona Jenkins, a fellow NLC Alum from New Leaders Council – Austin. We chat about our NLC experiences, about her LGBTQIA+ Community work, her podcasts, her priorities in life and more. Of course, Inclusion and Making the Invisible Visible get addressed in the midst of all of these topics. Bri has 2 podcasts out. You can get more information about them by contacting her on Instagram here.
In this episode, I have an amazing conversation with my dear friend from high school, Kristin Moore. Kristin Moore is a certified widow coach, and the founder of the Joy Scavenger movement and group. She helps those who deal with loss from tragedies re-find themselves, and reclaim even the smallest moments of Joy in their lives. You can find Kristin on her website and on Instagram.
This is one of the first conversations I ever recorded, with Tori Harris, and I think you can tell how much fun we had! Tori Harris is an aspiring author and the founder of the #wocwritetoo movement for Black and Brown authors on Instagram. Since then, Tori is gainfully employed and still working on building the movement, and on finishing her book. You can find her on her personal Instagram here, and on the Women of Color Write Too handle here. This is also the very first episode I edited with Logic Pro X. So I’d love your feedback on this!
In this episode, I have a very candid and brilliant discussion with a brilliant Optimal Performance Coach from Portland, Oregon, Coach Shannon McCoy. Coach McCoy held no punches back when talking about the changes that need to happen in the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion space, and in people’s minds and mindsets to become better versions of themselves. I think by far, one of my most favorite quotes on this podcast, to date, comes from him in this episode: “It’s not time management; it’s me management!” Listen to the episode to find out what he means by that and don’t forget to subscribe to the podcast, and to connect with Coach McCoy on LinkedIn.
I am so excited to share this chat I recorded with the one and the only, Lelia Gowland, Founder and CEO of Lelia Gowland, LLC! This episode was recorded on September 25th, and I was supposed to release it on November 14th, in time for the launch of her incredible book You Got This: The Ultimate Negotiation Guide For Professional Women. But, I got slammed by life in many ways. If I had read her book earlier, I might have been able to negotiate my way out of the over-commitment in so many ways! Lol. In this episode with Lelia Gowland, we talk about how she got started in the unique niche she created for herself, her experiences with, and opinions on current Diversity, Equity and Inclusion trends, and, what her book is all about! She also references some AMAZING people in her book. Lelia’s and all of these other references’ contact details are listed below. Wow! Re-listening to this chat with Coach Shanita Liu while editing it totally reinvigorated me! This episode with Coach Shanita is one of the first I ever recorded when I started the podcast, and I was supposed to release it in November, but, health and life, and tech issues, got in the way. But, now that they are fixed, I am so glad that this episode with Coach Shanita is the one that I am “relaunching” the podcast with! In this chat, Coach Shanita and I dig deep into our experiences as South Asian women, and the stigmas, stereotypes, and resistance we face from our own community when we try to uplift, support and empower one of us. This episode empowered me to go back to the source of why I even started this podcast. It reconnected me with my core, and it was transformational. In this episode, I chat with Author J.D. Groom about her creative process, and the release of her upcoming novel “Sorceress of Truth” on November 10, 2019. J.D. Groom (Jodie) also walks me through the real life locales, scenarios and lived experiences that have informed and influenced her writing process, her characters, and her perspectives on Diversity and Inclusion in real life. J.D. Groom also gives us a glimpse of her other works in progress and everything that is going on with them. You can find Author J.D. Groom on Instagram, and on her website.
You see the corny comedienne in me come out in this episode. But, of course, there is also plenty of serious, substantive conversation that I have with Dr. Nicole Carter about graduate school, women of color, invisible disabilities, and, her latest venture, Sis, Just Write! that is an intersectionality (you’ll see what I did here when you listen to the episode) of all of these things. Dr. Carter will definitely be back on the show for more conversations, but until then, you can find her on Instagram.
