Alex Grey is an American visual artist, author, teacher, and Vajrayana practitioner known for creating spiritual and psychedelic artwork such as his 21-painting Sacred Mirrors series. He works in multiple forms including performance art, process art, installation art, sculpture, visionary art, and painting. He is also on the board of advisors for the Center for Cognitive Liberty and Ethics, and is the Chair of Wisdom University's Sacred Art Department. He and his wife Allyson Grey are the co-founders of The Chapel of Sacred Mirrors (CoSM), a non-profit organization in Wappingers Falls, New York.Allyson Grey, a conceptual abstract painter and co-founder of CoSM, Chapel of Sacred Mirrors, has long been a mentor and influencer of the contemporary Visionary Art movement. In 1971, in a psychedelic awakening through the guidance of Ram Dass' book Be Here Now, Allyson heard a voice calling her to express in her art an essentialized world view. Chaos, Order & Secret Writing came to artistically symbolize the three essential characteristics of human perception, a minimal yet all-encompassing artistic statement worthy of immersion for a lifetime. Allyson's art is a personal and shared meditation on the structure of thought, life and enlightenment.Episode Highlights▶ The origin story of the Sacred Mirrors and the creation of CoSM▶ How LSD catalyzed Alex and Allyson's personal and spiritual awakening▶ Why creativity is a spiritual practice and a gateway to soul's purpose▶ The transformative power of psychedelics on healing and self-awareness▶ Why staying creative every day is key to manifesting your soul's work▶ Art as evidence of your inner vision and a path to service▶ The role of intention, commitment, and patience in creative fulfillment▶ Creativity as essential medicine for a disconnected society▶ Psychedelics and relationships: how shared experiences deepen intimacy▶ The future of CoSM and the long-awaited opening of EntheonAllyson & Alex Grey's Links & Resources▶ Allyson and Alex Grey / CoSM: https://www.cosm.org/▶ Alex Grey's website: https://www.alexgrey.com/▶ Allyson Grey's website: https://www.allysongrey.com▶ CoSM YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZVxulrA3TWY1_WSeFD3eGg Download Beth's free trainings here: Clarity to Clients: Start & Grow a Transformational Coaching, Healing, Spiritual, or Psychedelic Business: https://bethaweinstein.com/grow-your-spiritual-businessIntegrating Psychedelics & Sacred Medicines Into Business: https://bethaweinstein.com/psychedelics-in-business▶ Beth's Coaching & Guidance: https://bethaweinstein.com/coaching ▶ Beth's Offerings & Courses: https://bethaweinstein.com/services▶ Instagram: @bethaweinstein ▶ FB: / bethw.nyc + bethweinsteinbiz ▶ Join the free Psychedelics & Purpose Community: / psychedelicsandsacredmedicines
Power Quote: I noticed… and I wonder…Description:Welcome to the third and final part of my interview with Elena Aguilar. Today we dive into how we can reconnect people with their sense of power – building teacher self-efficacy through reflective questions. Decades of research identifies teacher self-efficacy – the belief that what teachers do has an impact on student learning – as the bedrock for good teaching. Recent research suggest a large part of the leader's impact on student growth (which is second only to the teacher's impact) is a result of the leader's ability to build teacher self-efficacy. So, today's episode offers some essential information and techniques to unlocking teachers' potential and fulfilling your leadership purpose.Show IntroSponsor Spot 1:Being an assistant principal means that safety is a quadrant 1 activity – in your building and beyond its walls. A link to that episode and my two previous episodes from 2024 are in the show notes. In part 1 we talked about listening and I hope you've been able to exercise your listening muscle over the past couple weeks, and that you followed Elena's advice to dig into your own story and beliefs around leadership and teaching.Today we'll talk about purpose – both the school's and the teachers', and how to support and grow teachers even in such a stressful and chaotic time. I love this episode because it contains a call to dig deeply into ourselves as leaders and give some very practical advice on how to help teachers. And, as with part 1, I include Elena's closing words of wisdom – a call for us to slow down. We often get asked how doctors use their new coaching skills once they've completed our Transformational Coaching Diploma programme. This is obviously a question that our coaching doctors have the opportunity to explore for themselves in advance, of completing the programme, as they receive coaching throughout the course. There is plenty of time for them to consider what the future holds for them and what direction they might go in. With over 300 doctors having completed our diploma we have a good range of coaching doctors who have let us know what they are up to. In this episode we explore how some of our alumni are using coaching in their professional lives. We hope that the episode may inspire you, encourage you and reaffirm your interest in learning to coach. Enjoy the podcast? Power Quote: “How do you want me to listen?”Description:Today's guest is someone I consider to be a master at the art of coaching, which is appropriate as she wrote the best-selling book titled The Art of Coaching. I Had Elena Aguilar on the show a little over a year ago and we split the interview into two parts, episodes 204 and 205 (link in the show notes) because it was so rich and packed with powerful thoughts and techniques. This interview with Elena is even more dense – so much so that we are splitting it into three parts. In today's section Elena and I dive into listening and there is so much packed into the span of fifteen minutes that I decided to release it as a full episode. If you listen closely, you'll recognize that the discussion is embedded within the intro section of celebrations and stories. We didn't even get to the main interview before Elena shared some wisdom that I wanted to put on its own, for your benefit. After this conversation, I've added Elena's thoughts on “the one thing leaders should take away.” It is consistent with today's main topic, but I will also include it in each of the next two part of our discussion because it is so powerful I think we all, myself included, need to listen to it once a week.Sponsor Spot 1: I'd like to thank Kaleidoscope Adventures for sponsoring today's show. Are you feeling off but can't pinpoint the cause of your frustrating symptoms? Have you considered that mold could be the culprit? Today's guest shares insights into the symptoms of hidden mold exposure and mold remediation to heal and improve your overall health. This week on Salad with a Side of Fries, Jenn Trepeck welcomes functional health coach Jenn Malecha to share her personal journey with hidden mold exposure and the profound impact it had on her health. Jenn M. opens up about her skin cancer diagnosis, unexplained symptoms, and the shocking discovery of black mold in her home office. Together, they uncover why mold often goes undetected, the dangers of mycotoxins, and how symptoms like brain fog, vertigo, and digestive issues can easily be misdiagnosed. From mold sabbaticals and testing methods like VCS and urine analysis to the importance of professional remediation, this episode is packed with crucial insights. Plus, Jenn M. shares her toxic checklist to help you identify hidden hazards in your environment. Don't miss this eye-opening conversation—your health might depend on it!The Salad With a Side of Fries podcast is hosted by Jenn Trepeck, who discusses wellness and weight loss for real life, clearing up the myths, misinformation, bad science & marketing surrounding our nutrition knowledge and the food industry. Let's dive into wellness and weight loss for real life, including drinking, eating out, and skipping the grocery store. IN THIS EPISODE: (04:56) Jenn M. shares her professional background and discusses her skin cancer diagnosis(07:33) Jenn M. experienced health problems, leading her to discover black mold in her home (15:17) Why mold exposure can often be overlooked and what about mycotoxins(22:06) Symptoms associated with mold exposure in your home and taking a mold sabbatical(27:46) Visual contrast screening (VCS) and urine testing(33:03) Get a professional to do mold remediation(39:16) Jenn M.'s toxic checklist available to members and EMF radiationKEY TAKEAWAYS:While not all mold is dangerous, certain types release toxic compounds called mycotoxins, which can cause significant health problems. These toxins often go unnoticed in homes, especially in water-damaged buildings. The symptoms of mold exposure, such as ear ringing, vertigo, teeth grinding, brain fog, and digestive problems, often resemble those of other conditions. This can lead to a misdiagnosis, as traditional medicine treats symptoms individually rather than considering an underlying cause like mold or mycotoxins. If you suspect mold exposure, go on a "mold sabbatical" by leaving your home for a few days, ideally staying in nature. If symptoms improve outside your usual environment, this could indicate a mold issue in your home.Visual contrast screening (VCS) and urine tests can help detect mold exposure, but they are not foolproof. Proper mold remediation should include sealing off affected areas, using air scrubbers, and treating mold with appropriate solutions (not bleach). Additionally, diet and detox protocols should be personalized to support recovery.QUOTES: (13:18) “That innocent mildew in the shower, you think nothing of it, but it could be a sign of moisture accumulation in your home. That mildew can further burden the body if you're already dealing with a moldy situation.” - Jenn Malecha(19:45) “The body will encapsulate toxins and mold in the fat, and we start putting on weight that we can't lose because it's the body's protective mechanism. So it's brilliant, it's frustrating, but it's a brilliant mechanism.” - Jenn Malecha(21:14) “The confusing piece is that the symptoms connected to mold or mycotoxins look like symptoms of many other things. And so as our western medicine system does, we address all of those symptoms individually rather than saying, well, what else could be going on here?” - Jenn Trepeck(36:06) “I want everybody to hear it, but it bears emphasis that we remove these foods for a while to support healing. That allows us to add those foods back in eventually.” - Jenn Trepeck(43:34) “Take the steps that we're willing and able to take when we're willing and able to take them versus feeling like you have to do everything all at once and then are totally overwhelmed.” - Jenn TrepeckRESOURCES:Become A Member of Salad with a Side of FriesJenn's Free Menu PlanA Salad With a Side of FriesA Salad With A Side Of Fries MerchA Salad With a Side of Fries InstagramWhat Your Thyroid Says About the Rest of Your Health (feat. The Psychedelic Entrepreneur - Medicine for These Times with Beth Weinstein
Roger is a pioneer in the field of Mycology, having dedicated over a decade of his life to perfecting the art and science of extraction, concentration, and product formulation. These medicinal mushrooms saved his life and led him on a personal journey of discovery, which he credits with transforming his life, and thus sparked a relentless pursuit of knowledge in mycology, alchemy, and sustainable agriculture. Holding a degree in Sustainable Agriculture and deeply immersed in the study of mycology since 2012, Roger combines cutting-edge scientific techniques with ancient wisdom from alchemy and the esoteric arts to craft the most potent and bioavailable mushroom products on the market. His passion for sustainability and quality is evident in every step of the process, from sourcing the finest ingredients to meticulously refining extraction methodologies.Ken has spent over 24 years immersed in holistic medicine, permaculture, and mycology. A visionary in the culinary and functional mushroom industry, he founded three mushroom companies, including the Chicago Mushroom Company where Ken raised the bar in culinary mushroom cultivation as the primary supplier of premium mushrooms for fine dining in Chicago before partnering with Roger Holden to focus on the healing power of medicinal fungi. Guided by fungi as his greatest teacher, Ken has studied with legends like Paul Stamets, Peter McCoy and Robert Rogers. His passion lies in cultivating mushrooms, educating others, and advancing the transformative potential of fungi to heal individuals and communities alike.Fruiting Bodies was born from passion, experience, and a shared vision to create the highest quality functional mushroom products. It is the culmination of two unique journeys that led Roger and Ken to a powerful partnership dedicated to health, sustainability, and the transformative power of mushrooms.Roger's path to functional mushrooms was deeply personal. As a child, he faced severe digestive issues and was prescribed a myriad of pharmaceutical drugs, only to see his health deteriorate further. In high school, he suffered from an extreme case of mononucleosis that left him bedridden for over a year, leading to depression, chronic fatigue, and a slew of other health complications. He struggled with ADHD, concussions, Lyme disease, and the side effects of prescription medications. It wasn't until he discovered functional mushrooms—starting with Reishi—that his life began to change. Seeking affordable and effective natural solutions, he started making his own tinctures, and soon, his symptoms began to fade. By the time he returned to college, he was in the best shape of his life. His journey led him to study sustainable agriculture and food production, work with industry leaders like Tradd Cotter, and eventually launch his own functional mushroom company, Mushroom Magic LLC, in 2020. With a mission to provide clean, ethical, and potent mushroom supplements, Roger dedicated himself to bridging ancient knowledge with modern applications.Ken's journey took a different but equally powerful route. For much of his early life, he struggled with unhealthy habits, chronic pain, and an overall disconnection from true wellness. He spent years caught in patterns of stress, poor health, and survival mode until a dramatic shift in his late 30s led him to rediscover himself. Through personal transformation, Ken became obsessed with health, wellness, and the interconnectedness of soil, food, and community. His studies in horticulture, permaculture, and sustainable agriculture deepened his appreciation for mushrooms—not just as food or medicine, but as a crucial component of ecological restoration. Ken started growing mushrooms, launched Chicago Mushroom Company, and worked with chefs, environmentalists, and urban agriculture pioneers to bring mushrooms to the forefront of sustainable food and medicine. His frustration with the low quality of many functional mushroom products on the market fueled his desire to find a partner who shared his commitment to potency, sustainability, and integrity. That's when Ken heard Roger's interview on the Mycopreneur Podcast. Immediately, he knew he had to reach out. Their first conversation lasted nearly seven hours—an in-depth discussion about mushrooms, health, sustainability, and their aligned visions for the future. They quickly realized they were not only kindred spirits but also the perfect partners to revolutionize the functional mushroom industry. From this meeting of minds and missions, Fruiting Bodies was born. Merging Mushroom Magic and Chicago Mushroom Company, Ken and Roger set out to create the most potent, effective, and ethically sourced mushroom products on the market. Every tincture, extract, and supplement they produce is rooted in science, tradition, and a commitment to people and the planet. Fruiting Bodies is more than just a brand; it is a movement dedicated to healing, education, and empowerment.Ken and Roger's story is one of resilience, discovery, and purpose. Together, they continue to push the boundaries of functional mushrooms, ensuring that the products they offer are not just good—but truly life-changing.Episode Highlights▶ How Roger's health struggles led him to discover mushrooms, while Ken transitioned from a corporate background to a passion for them▶ Why mushroom essences work on the shadow aspects of ourselves, and how trusting yourself is key in the healing journey▶ How mushrooms are safe, but introspection is important when using them for healing, which is both physical and emotional▶ How functional mushrooms are becoming mainstream in health products, with mushrooms being the original medicines, not alternatives▶ How mushroom essences enhance dream work and integration, and education is crucial for consumers to make informed choices.▶ How quality extraction methods are vital for mushroom efficacy, and mushrooms have the potential to heal both people and the environment▶ How the mushroom market is unregulated and chaotic, but how mushrooms can help with micro-remediation and environmental cleanup▶ Personalized approaches to mushroom use are essential for maximizing their benefitsKen Mycelium and Roger Holden's Links & Resources▶ Website: www.fruitingbodies.co▶ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/fruitingbodies.co▶ Instagram: https://www.instgram.com/fruitingbodies.co Download Beth's free trainings here: Clarity to Clients: Start & Grow a Transformational Coaching, Healing, Spiritual, or Psychedelic Business: https://bethaweinstein.com/grow-your-spiritual-businessIntegrating Psychedelics & Sacred Medicines Into Business: https://bethaweinstein.com/psychedelics-in-business▶ Beth's Coaching & Guidance: https://bethaweinstein.com/coaching ▶ Beth's Offerings & Courses: https://bethaweinstein.com/services▶ Instagram: @bethaweinstein ▶ FB: / bethw.nyc + bethweinsteinbiz ▶ Join the free Psychedelics & Purpose Community: / psychedelicsandsacredmedicines

The Psychedelic Entrepreneur - Medicine for These Times with Beth Weinstein
Robert Forte is a scholar of the history and psychology of religion, with a special focus on the ancient and modern use—and misuse—of psychedelic plants and drugs. He has studied and collaborated with many of the most seminal figures who first brought these substances to public consciousness since the 1940s, including Albert Hofmann, Gordon Wasson, Timothy Leary, Alexander Shulgin, Stanislav Grof, and others. His first book, Entheogens and the Future of Religion, was praised by Huston Smith as “the best single inquiry into the religious significance of psychedelics.” His second book, Outside Looking In: Appreciations, Castigations, Reminiscences of Timothy Leary, offers an intimate look at this controversial figure. In 1998, he republished an updated edition of The Road to Eleusis: Unveiling the Secret of the Mysteries by Gordon Wasson, Albert Hofmann, and Carl Ruck—a seminal text that initiated the inquiry into the role of entheogens in Western religion and philosophy.Over the years, Forte has manufactured MDMA before it was scheduled, conducted research into its clinical effects, and performed fieldwork in Peru studying the impact of ayahuasca on cancer patients. He has also maintained an underground practice utilizing various medicines for psychotherapy and spiritual exploration.Around 20 years ago, his interests shifted toward the sociology of psychedelic experience, where he has developed a somewhat controversial perspective on how these substances entered modern consciousness. He argues that the history of psychedelics, much like the history of religion, contains both the best and worst of humanity. Without acknowledging and integrating its shadow aspects, he warns, we risk becoming victims of them.Episode Highlights▶ How early psychedelic experiences profoundly influenced individual perspectives.▶ How the 1980s saw a resurgence in psychedelic research following prior suppression.▶ MDMA's shift from therapeutic tool to illegal substance exemplifies drug policy complexities.▶ Government drug policies and how they often prioritize control over public health.▶ The psychedelic narratives that are often entangled with conspiracy theories and misinformation.▶ How psychedelics offer potential for consciousness expansion, but require careful integration to avoid pitfalls like spiritual bypassing.▶ The Controlled Substances Act and how it's rationality is widely questioned.▶ How despite illegality, MDMA's popularity grew, reflecting societal interest.▶ The societal impact of psychedelics is multifaceted, demanding ethical consideration.▶ Why meaningful change requires applying psychedelic insights to daily life, beyond mere experience.Robert Forte's Links & Resources▶ Website: alteredstatesofamerica.net▶ Substack: alteredstatesofamerica.substack.com▶ Facebook: https://web.facebook.com/robert.forte.79 Download Beth's free trainings here: Clarity to Clients: Start & Grow a Transformational Coaching, Healing, Spiritual, or Psychedelic Business: https://bethaweinstein.com/grow-your-spiritual-businessIntegrating Psychedelics & Sacred Medicines Into Business: https://bethaweinstein.com/psychedelics-in-business▶ Beth's Coaching & Guidance: https://bethaweinstein.com/coaching ▶ Beth's Offerings & Courses: https://bethaweinstein.com/services▶ Instagram: @bethaweinstein ▶ FB: / bethw.nyc + bethweinsteinbiz ▶ Join the free Psychedelics & Purpose Community: / psychedelicsandsacredmedicines
