We are living in a world right now where a lot of things are confusing. In a world of so many unknowns, I am finding comfort in getting to know and love myself. I am realizing now that it took two brain aneurysms and a scary surgery for me to realize that the life I was living before was not truly living. I often stood in my own way and made decisions out of fear. Now with time, patience, and self acceptance I plan on truly loving myself while living intentionally.
It's the beginning of the year and we all have things that we are motivated about. The question is, why? Why are you motivated about the things that you are? What is it that you need to become motivated? These may seem like pretty basic questions but are they the things you are asking yourself when setting these intentions? Let this be the year where your focus and concentration comes from a place of true self compassion. Allow yourself this time with yourself to reflect on your wants and needs. Then I hope you will feel inspired to set aside more time in this new year to accomplish one intention at a time in order to live a more fulfilling existence.
I am introducing this meditation focusing on energy as a reminder how vital it is to know and accept your energy. I think especially in my case as someone who suffers with chronic illness - I used to struggle with always wanting to create more energy. When you are diagnosed with something such as chronic fatigue syndrome, sometimes it isn't an option but something that is, is accepting who you are and what you have in that moment.
Join me this week as a focus on being present in the here and now. As we discuss mental health and mental health awareness more this month. I wanted to showcase the importance of it and the beneficial impact meditation can have. Speaking personally as a person with mental health disorders, on top of a brain injury having a few minutes set aside each day to yourself can be life-changing.
Do you ever find yourself in a state of overwhelm and recognize your thoughts are driven by fear or anxiety? This guided meditation is a wonderful tour that will not take long for you to begin to ground yourself in those times of need. If your thoughts are leaning more negative than positive, there are also ideas of manifesting positivity that are bound to improve the quality of your day.
In a recent Instagram poll I discovered not a lot of people meditate in the evening or before bed. Taking time to reflect and connect with moments throughout your day allows your mind to relax. Sleep plays a big part in our overall health. Meditating and decompressing as a part of your nighttime routine could make for a better day tomorrow. Give this a try an hour or so before bed, try disconnecting from technology once you've completed this episode.
Join me in a mid day check in. Practice your breath work and focusing your thoughts. Taking a moment when you are feeling drained or disconnected is a wonderful way to set yourself up for a successful afternoon. Praise yourself and acknowledge your efforts!
Setting your intentions within the first few moments of your day is an incredible way to mindfulness. Take less than ten minutes of your time to incorporate this guided meditation featuring breath work, sound scanning and reflecting on self love and the impact in can have on not only you, but the world around you.
On this episode we will learn a new skill : Body Scanning Benefits Include -Greater Relaxation It's common to hold stress and tension within your body – this can look like tense shoulders, a stiff neck, or even stomach problems When that occurs, you may feel this physical sensation and not be aware there is an emotional tie. Learning the difference between your body's actual physical sensations vs your emotional triggers can lead to a greater sense of relaxation from the mind body connection. Pain Management Your thoughts can be consumed by pain when your body is feeling it. Body Scanning can help you separate pain's physical sensations from the emotions and cognitive experience during pain. Benefits of body scanning have been linked to improved quality of life when pain is reduced by retraining your mind. Knowing Your Body Body scanning can help build a sense of awareness. Your ability to notice physical sensations or pain will increase. Over time as you pause to appreciate your body and how it is feeling you will learn as you go and have a better understanding of how your body works, and in return know how to take better care of yourself.
Welcome back! It's a new year and I'm so happy you are joining me on this mindfulness journey. In this second meditation, we will revisit the first skill touched on before : breath work. Amazing things will come as we build on these skills. This one is a great way to connect with yourself at any time you feel overwhelmed or need to be present. Benefits include - improved attention, reduced anxiety, and a sense of calm.
“The best way to get something done is begin”. Starting off the mindful mini series of guided meditations and breath work with a short self check in. When starting this journey I always stated that all you need is a few minutes to begin. Staying true to my word, enjoy a few moments to yourself. Connect with your breath, and enjoy this time with yourself.
On a recent Instagram poll 100% of the participants afraid they've felt it. As 2020 comes to a close it is still making sure to leave an impression as we are only days away from the new year. Keep your head up, listen as I get candid about covid and talk about coping tools that can help us, not only now, but always!
My passion for meditation is growing and I'm looking forward to connecting with you more about meditation. In addition to this listen, I encourage for you to breathe for ten seconds. Get lost in your inhales and exhales. Stay tuned on my Instagram as I'll soon be joining @joesorocks with the @neuronerds in mindful chats about how we feel about meditation! I'm also happy that another brain buddy @tawniethemermaid is feeling inspired too! So give this a listen and meditate with us!

Thank you @maddistrokeofluck & @tawniethemermaid for providing questions to initiate this conversation. *correction to incorrect date, my surgery took place in 2018 not 2019.
Welcome to the beginning of my podcast! The topic of this episode touches on why I'm here, who I am and a little bit about why self care is important for me as a chronic pain sufferer.
