If you appreciate this work, consider supporting it - https://www.patreon.com/seekgodtogether Today we will read Psalm 46:1 & 10. “God is our refuge and strength. An ever-present help in time of trouble. “Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted in the nations. I will be exalted in the earth.” Today we will meditate. We will think deeply and with less words. This passage opens by focusing our thinking - God. God is our safety, God is our power. God is our help. Then in verse 10 it says “Be Still.” or “Stop fighting.” or “Stop striving.” Calm down. Who is asking it of you? Is it the songwriter? Is it a guru? No - it's God Himself. Be still and know that “I” am God. You are not God - and no one else is. Just Him. But it's not a call to empty your mind. Far from it. It's a call to stop and consider that He and He alone will be exalted among all people in all the earth. Won't that be a great day! We will take longer now to consider this. Stop what you're doing and consider God taking charge. Thoroughly setting things right. Doing all things well. You might find it helpful just to imagine Him getting bigger and bigger and filling all things and in so doing, all things getting better. We will take a little time to do this - and I will stop now and join you. You can begin imagining now.
Janet talks about the power of Zamar worship and what happens when we go there. This is why some people feel demons leave them when people sing or play an instrument. ZAMAR: To worship the Lord while playing an instrument Psalm 98:4 Shout with joy to the Lord, all the earth; break into song; sing praise. The Hebrew Understanding of “Zamar” It is the idea of making music by plucking at strings with fingers and singing praises unto God. The Hebrew Zamar praise is harmonious and collective. It utilizes music to express our worship, creating an atmosphere where God is invited to move powerfully Psalm 71:22 New American Standard Bible 22 I will also praise (yād̠â) You with a harp, And Your truth (emet…amen) , my God; I will sing praises to You with the lyre, Holy One of Israel. YADAH: To throw your hands up and forward while making a confession about God while being grateful and bringing recognition to HIM which includes thanksgiving, Truth: ĕmet̠ Emunah is the Hebrew word for FAITH. The root word from Emunah is “Emun” which speaks of that which is sure, solid and true. When you add the “ah” to it it become Emunah. Faith is linked to truth. That's where we get our word “amen” from….Emun…. Faith is linked to that which is rock solid, the Truth! Here are some suggestions on how to use those times to worship God: Offering. If you are one of the instrumentalists, then use the interlude as your personal offering of praise to God. This is not a time to show off but rather a time to offer to God a gift of praise through your instrument – a time to zamar God. Play with excellence, but play it to God, not to the people. Meditate. If you are not playing a musical instrument then don't zone out during the instrumental times of praise. Use those times to meditate on God. Allow the music to draw you closer to God. New Song. Allow your own song to soar up to God on the wings of the music. Consider freely singing your own praise to God. Allow the Spirit of God to touch your heart and voice, and sing out the praise that is in your heart using whatever notes come to you.
Sangha at the Crossroads by Bhikkhu Bodhi "In this article I want to focus on one particular constituency of Buddhists in present day Sri Lanka, the Bhikkhu Sangha, the Order of Monks. I intend to examine, though briefly, the problems it faces and its prospects for the future. This task is especially critical because of the central role the Sangha plays in guiding the destiny of the Sāsana, and it is clear that if the Sangha does not learn to deal with the momentous forces inundating present-day society, the future will see it increasingly relegated to the sidelines...." The Changing Face of Buddhism by Bhikkhu Bodhi "If Buddhism is failing to penetrate deep into the hearts of those who profess it as their faith, we have to ask ourselves why, and to ask what can be done to reverse present trends. I would like to approach these questions by first asking what role Buddhism is intended to play in our lives in the first place. I will deal with this question by distinguishing two aspects of Buddhism both stemming from the Buddha's original teaching. I shall call these the liberative and the accommodative strands of the Dhamma...." Trust your story. Be where you are and don't be sorry. 13. Your only task is to live.

In Buddhism, envy is considered a painful state of mind because it arises from a fundamental misunderstanding of the nature of reality and the origin of happiness. Envy is rooted in the belief that one's own happiness and well-being are dependent on the possessions, achievements, or circumstances of others. This belief leads to comparison with others and a sense of inadequacy or lack, which actually causes the suffering of envy. Happiness and suffering both depend on the mind Envy is one of the 16 defilements of the mind. Envy can lead to negative actions and harmful behaviors towards others. These harmful actions create negative karma, perpetuating the cycle of suffering. In Buddhism, the path to freedom from envy involves cultivating a sense of contentment and gratitude for what one has, rather than longing for what others have. Envy involves just two people, you and tge one who seems to have something you want. Such envy between you and a friend or if-worker separates them from your Lovingkindness. This ten year comes from discontent Envy Antidote content, gratitude. Rejoicing Jealousy antidote identify where it's coming from. Rejoice in their happiness. Your love should make them feel free Jealousy with a partner creates a separation from them, where you don't really care about their happiness or freedom. Jealousy comes from insecurity One shouldn't scorn what one has received, Nor envy others. The mendicant who envies others Doesn't become concentrated. (365)* The gods praise the mendicant Who lives purely and untiringly And who doesn't scorn What he or she receives, Even if receiving just a little. Life leads us down many different paths, and our journeys are often filled with ebbs and flows. We get a surge of energy that propels us forward, only to be met with a resistance that pulls us back into our stopping places. Ken Sterns is here because he is at a crossroads. Ken traded his corporate suit for a van, a microphone, and some questions, and set off on a journey to write his next chapter as the host of his traveling podcast, The Jar. Ken is living his ultimate surrender by giving up the safety of the corporate world to follow his dream, so during his reading we explored: How living in the moment creates ease and flow Learning to trust and surrender as you follow your path Letting go of tomorrow and focusing only on today Creating the future from THIS moment Showing up in the uncomfortable places again and again so you can take the next step towards your dream Working with the voices that insist on safety and discourage your dreams My love, we do not grow in our comfort zone. It takes great courage to surrender, let go of your worries about the future, and follow your dreams. In John 15, Jesus tells his disciples that if they are going to be a part of advancing his Kingdom here on Earth, they will need to make their home in him. But how do we practically do this in the midst of our busy and distracted world? When we talk about meditation, very often we say things like "awareness" or "consciousness" and we can very easily brush past what any of those things mean or feel like. This meditation hopes to help the meditator become more familiar with our true self, the part of us deep down inside that is just witnessing and observing our thoughts and feelings through out our day through active listening.

A Buddhist Approach to Economic and Social Development by Bhikkhu Bodhi "The notion of economic and social development has today become the rallying call of politicians, business leaders, and policy planners clear across the globe. This notion thus exercises a tremendous influence on the lives of all human beings, both at the personal level and as a determinant of social policy. Although the Buddhist texts prescribe certain principles to guide human beings in their economic and social activities, the notions of economic and social development that dominate current policy formulation have no precise parallels in earlier epochs. Thus to give adequate treatment to our topic it is not enough merely to listen to the canonical texts. Rather, we must draw out the implications of such ideas as economic and social development in their bearings on present-day social policy. Then we must use the profound perspectives offered us by the Dhamma as a tool for evaluating them and judging their worth." This is a Pariyatti audiobook of the essay "A Buddhist Approach to Economic and Social Development" from the book Facing the Future: Four Essays on the Social Relevance of Buddhism by Bhikkhu Bodhi. The saying goes "Expectation leads to disappointment, which leads to suffering". Yes but how do we deal with those feelings? How do we push past those complicated emotions because it is hard to go through life without becoming attached to the things we care about most? Breath, my friend. It is through the breath. One breath at a time.
