I'm sure you remember the Nike slogan "Just Do It." Well when it comes to the manifestation process quantum physicist and best selling author Dr. Amit Goswami prefers the saying "Just Be and Do It." I had the opportunity to interview Dr. Goswami during the production of Beyond Belief. He shared some great insights on the law of attraction process and the importance of being mindful, self aware and open. This podcast is an excerpt of that interview. "F" the Form and Get to the Horn." This bull riding saying was the perfect title for this show. This session provides some tips on how to overcome perfectionism. This episode does not have a guest. I ventured off the reservation and went way out of my comfort zone to demonstrate, on the court, how to take action in face of fear and perfectionism. Every fiber of my being wanted to edit the S#@T out of the program but I wanted to see what would happen if I resisted the natural urge to "get it right" or to "do it perfect." The show presented the ideal opportunity to talk about perfectionism and its impact. If you feel you get stopped by fear, anxiety, resistance, overwhelm, procrastination, and if you have to have everything perfect before taking action, this program can help. I discuss what helps me when I feel stopped by perfectionism and some of the tools I use to overcome it. By Jim Holzknecht

Don't say I didn't warn you. Welcome to the transformational series, Play By Play on Life. This podcast series provides tips, tools, techniques and insights on how to reduce stress and increase joy, fun, creativity, inspiration and passion. I'm your host, Jim Holzknecht. Today with us is Dr. Andy Fuehl, Master of Money and Business Psychology. Dr. Andy Fuehl is a leading expert in teaching people how to achieve success and become millionaires doing what they love. Dr. Andy Fuehl, welcome to the program. Dr. Andy Fuehl: Thank you for having me on your program. Jim Holzknecht: Well, first of all, if you could describe for our listeners how you went from being unemployed to a millionaire in under three years. That’s amazing. Dr. Andy Fuehl: Well, actually, it was a three-step process. But let me take a step back, so you better understand where I actually came from. I was in corporate America for over 15 years. And as I was in corporate America, I always thought that, well, there had to be more. And the more I thought that it had to be was always getting a promotion, and I literally get promoted almost every single year in corporate America, which is almost unheard of. But every time I got promoted and took on bigger and bigger projects which I thought would give me happiness, it didn’t. It only made things worse. Well, one day, I was at a point where I was managing literally a $4-billion program. I mean, it doesn’t get much bigger than that. And I was managing this program, and I was just absolutely miserable, couldn’t figure out what was going on. Then, all of a sudden I got lucky. One day, it was back in 2001 and my manager called me into his office and said, “Andy, I’m sorry, but we no longer are going to require your services due to economic circumstances.” And I was just so relieved at that point. But I literally went from six figures to zero overnight. Not a plum position to be in. Well, from that point on, I really didn’t understand what I was going to do when I grow up. So I had to figure it out. I went through multiple different businesses at that point, and I went six figures upside down attempting to figure this out. That’s not a really good fun position, either. You think so? Jim Holzknecht: No, not at all. Dr. Andy Fuehl: No. So, what I thought of, I thought, “Okay, I’m going to use my talents. I’m going to use what I had learned in corporate America.” The problem was is I couldn’t save my soul if I wanted to, by doing that. Then, all of a sudden, I figured out what the problem was. I wasn’t living my life on purpose. Now, we have been given a God-given purpose and each one of us has a unique purpose in life. But the challenge is if you’re not expressing your purpose in life, guess what happens. You fail. That’s exactly what happened to me. Can you see that? Jim Holzknecht: /Yeah, so often, I think in our lives, we just feel like we pursue a path by default instead of by design, to actually find something that actually fills us up and it’s our passion. Tapping into that is really powerful once we start doing that and things are happening. So I really can see where that was opening up for you as well. Dr. Andy Fuehl: Good, because that brings me to a point,

Session 3. Dream Team & Dream Killers. Part 2 of a two part interview series with business coach Kirk McDow. Jim Holzknecht: This is Play By Play on Life, Session Number 3. This country has over 10,000 beaches. Start your engines. Get them revving. Are you ready to play full out? Shift to a new gear, accelerate? Great! Then buckle up. It's going to be a wild ride. Don't say I didn't warn you. Welcome to the transformational series, Play By Play on Life. This podcast series provides tips, tools, techniques and insights on how to reduce stress and increase joy, fun, creativity, inspiration and passion. I'm your host, Jim Holzknecht. This is Part 2 of a two-part series with Kirk McDow. We’re talking about resolutions here and goal as far as why they don’t work, why they don’t stick. And do you think it’s because people don’t necessarily start with why? Kirk McDow: I think it’s a couple of thing. Absolutely, I think it’s because people don’t start with why. They’re not starting from who are they, who do they want to be in the world, who are they saying that they are. All the time, we talk about “I like this,” “I like that,” “I’m not good at this,” I’m not good at that.” But really what is the I that you’re referring to? Is it your collection of experiences? Is it what you’re committed to? Is it what you do for a living? Is it your husband or wife? What is that I? Well, I’m saying, you could literally invent that instead of having kind of move around by default. So, for me, what I invented was contribution, which really empowered me. Now, that particular why or that why may not empower someone else but that spoke to me. But then, I know immediately, the biggest risk is it kept going out of existence. It kept disappearing. I’d wake up one morning and go, “Oh, my gosh, I shouldn’t be a coach. Who am I?” I’d be just be full of doubt and fear, and oh my God, blag, doom. Jim Holzknecht: [Laughter] Kirk McDow: Just, oh, like horrible, you know. So for me, the most important thing was to keep it maintained. And I know for me, I can maybe go for a few days of nothing really crazy happening. But man, a few things happen in a row and I’m out. So I assembled the team. Well, first thing I did is I hired a coach. What I have with her is whenever I speak with her, I connect to that which I created. Like that world, that possibility, that future I created, one of contribution and success and results. That world I created, when I connect with her, that world gets recreated and reinforced and strengthened. And we had strategy and structure and tactics and actions or whatever. Or, if it’s no longer in existence, we bring it back to existence and then we go to work, like that, right? Without her, it would have dropped out several times, like no question about it. And the next structure is my team. And for me, this is pretty informal. It’s about five or ten people. They are people who can hear what I’m committed to and who I’m committed to being, and they can assist me in empowering that, keeping that alive. So, for me, there’s this big thing about maintaining that, that you’re now committed to, that you created, the new I, the new you that you’re… However it is that any individuals looking at it, whatever gets created, it’s got to be nurtured. It’s a little baby, and needs to be taken care of and nurtured. It’s going to be awhile before it’s got its own legs. Jim Holzknecht: How would someone go about doing that? Like, whoever’s listening to this that say, “Well, that’s well and good. He’s in coaching. He probably already knew this people,” what would you suggest to them? How would someone out there listening to this, what would be a good structure for them, or good resource for them to find a good coach, accountability partner, that kind of thing? Kirk McDow: So, there’s a couple of different categories here. So, one category is a coach. There are lots of great coaches out there,

Welcome to the transformational series, Play By Play on Life. This podcast series provides tips, tools, techniques and insights on how to reduce stress and increase joy, fun, creativity, inspiration and fashion. I'm your host, Jim Holzknecht. Today our guest is Kirk McDow. Kirk is a dynamic coaching consultant who has worked with thousands of individuals and organizations over the past 20 plus years. Whether on behalf of a solopreneur, executive or individual, he uncovers, develops and realizes quantum leap results for his clients worldwide. Kirk, welcome to the program. Kirk McDow: Hey, Jim. I'm super excited to be here. Thanks for having me. Jim Holzknecht: Kirk, from your experience based on the clients you worked with, what tends to stop us and prevent us from playing full out in our life? Kirk McDow: Well, let me share a little bit of a personal journey I think that might speak this. A few months back, I recently started a coaching business. So there’s a little bit of a journey about that I'd like to share with you. A lot about my life wasn't working for me, mostly financial, but I just, over the years, had never really broken through to where I wanted to be. It was very frustrating to me. I had huge, huge successes in other areas and accomplishments and stuff but this one thing kept nagging. And I noticed over the years, every plan, every big strategy, every big game I'd created, every new business or whatever, whatever I was doing – some new little alliance or something – everything I was doing was response to some emergencies, something that went wrong "Oh my God, how am I going to pay that loan? How am I going to do this?" or whatever. Over the years, I just noticed those things really haven't worked out very well. And at the time, I could kind of sense something was off but I wasn't really willing to tell the truth to myself because, man, I need to get this thing rolling. And getting the results is way more important than how I feel or some other concern I have. You know, like that whole thing, right? So I spent all this time, energy and money, whatever working on something that really wasn't what I wanted at the end of the day, for one reason or another. So I start to think about that little bit and I started to go back to some work I've done in the past and really look at the possibility of inventing who I am. Some people might call it your ‘why’ but for me it's literally inventing who I am like his way of being, but it's really like inventing who I am. And for me, that is what I created as who I am is contribution. Who I am is contribution. And then, what there was for me to do started become very clear. Well, first thing I need to do is fulfill the possibility of contribution out in the world. What I noticed was when I was clear about who I am and what I'm here for, what I want my life to be for – or actually what my life is for – kind of what there was to do and the plan and the questions I had, mostly, not always, but mostly answered themselves pretty quick, because now I was really clear what I was looking from. Jim Holzknecht: That's really great where you speak to [unintelligible 3:41 – 3:41]. In Simon Sinek's book Start With Why, he talks about this, what you just mentioned and he says a lot of companies – and individuals for that matter, too – but a lot of companies start from the outside and work in, rather than from the inside and work out.
This is Play By Play on Life, Session Number 1. The rules of the game are these – for every podcast I'm going to post a question, and then I’m going to answer it at the end. Sorry, got to keep playing. Go listen to the whole thing, if you want the answer. All right, so the first question of the first podcast of Play By Play on Life is what is the definition of cherophobia? I'll give you a little hint. It's not a chair. So it's not a chair, okay? You just got to go with that. So starting there, what is the definition of cherophobia? You have to wait until the end for the answer. Here's the podcast. Start your engines. Get them revving. Not long ago, I was in a job I didn't like. I was stressed out. I was taking my life for granted. I was taking everything so seriously. Everything was serious and intense. It's always about the next thing. No matter where I was, there's always some place of to get to. I never could really enjoy the process because I was always looking for the next thing. To compound matters in 2006, my sister Sue died suddenly from a brain aneurysm. After my sister's death, I hit rock bottom. This was a huge wakeup call for me. I needed to make some serious changes on my life. If I didn't change, nothing would change. I turned my focus inward. I believe change is an inside job. Gandhi once said "You must be the change that you want to see in the world.” Change needs to occur on the inside before it manifest on the outside. I took a long hard look at the direction and purpose in my life. I asked myself some of that soul-searching timeless questions people have asked themselves throughout history – what am I here for? What do I want to give back to the world? What legacy do I want to leave? What do I want to do, be and have the time I have left? I pictured myself at the end of my life on my deathbed and asked myself, "Would I regret it if I didn't play full out and live a life of passion, fun, purpose and adventure?" Yes, I would regret it big time. If I didn't live my life to its fullest, I was going to regret it. I had to really learn to lighten up, to shift my state. That’s what a lot of these programs going to be about, is providing tools for how to actively shift your state.
