“No regrets” is an American slogan along with “No Fear” and “Just Do It.” Yet more often than not we don't “just do it,” having no fear is psychopathic, and having no regrets means you have no sorrow for ever hurting anyone or making a mistake. Regret is simply recognizing sadness or disappointment about something we did we wish we hadn't, or we didn't do and wish we had, and Dan Pink's research showcases it's a massive power if we'll recognize it and learn from it. Not as he says, reject it or wallow in it. The following conversation was my second time having Dan on the show. Dan Pink is a multi-best selling author, and when I say best selling, I don't mean one day on an obscure Amazon book category like Amish Romance, but the actual New York Times bestseller list. You'll likely recognize his books such as A Whole New Mind, To Sell Is Human, and When. His books have sold millions of copies, have been translated into forty-two languages. He also has a TED talk titled “The Puzzle of Motivation” which has somewhere north of 30 million views. I recently saw him being interviewed by Oprah Winfrey. Dan is an author like Brene' Brown who leads with research, and he's now turned his focus to regrets with his new book, The Power of Regret: How Looking Backward Moves Us Forward. I asked him back on the show the moment I saw the book title and you're about to hear me dig in with him on how we can harness regret for our progress, not suffer or run from it. “What's the first thing that made you laugh today?”That's how Sandy kicks off this vibrant and emotionally rich episode of The Sandy Show, setting the stage for a morning full of laughs, surprises, and heartfelt moments. From Sandy's secret pizza stash and guilty McDonald's runs to Tricia's emotional reaction to the Toby Keith: American Icon tribute concert, this episode blends humor with genuine admiration. Tricia shares how the country legend's patriotism and philanthropy moved her to tears—and introduced her to a new “country boo,” Parker McCollum. Listeners will enjoy the playful banter about food obsessions, the nationwide race to be the “first texter,” and Sandy's hilarious rant about football broadcasts cluttering the screen with unnecessary scores. Plus, the duo dives into the surprising origins of emojis and Nike's “Just Do It” slogan. Memorable Moments:Tricia's confession: “I rewound Parker McCollum's performance four times. Holy crap, he snuck up on me.”Sandy's football frustration: “Please stop eating up my TV screen with scores from other games!”The emoji origin story and the dark twist behind Nike's iconic slogan.

HAPPY MONDAY MOTIVATION! Welcome back to another episode of "No More Excuses"! In this episode of No More Excuses, I'm diving into one of my favorite tools for transforming teams and leaders: the DiSC® assessment. If you've ever felt like you're talking but no one's really hearing you—or if your team is constantly missing the mark—it's probably not the message, it's the communication style. I'll break down what DiSC® is, why I use it with all of my clients, and how it can instantly help you understand yourself and others better. From improving collaboration to boosting productivity and yes—driving more revenue—DiSC® is a badass tool that takes the guesswork out of working with people. By the end, you'll see why I've spoken, trained, and facilitated DiSC® workshops all over the U.S.—because when you stop talking past each other, you start getting results. And if you're ready to take the assessment and learn to communicate more effectively and lead like the badass you were meant to be... click here! [Take the assessment FREE, and then when you're ready to dive in and learn how to use it, click here to schedule a discounted session with me for my listeners!] Cheers! Sandi

HAPPY MONDAY MOTIVATION! Welcome back, Badasses, to another episode of No More Excuses! Today, I've got one big question for you:Is AI helping your business… or hurting it? Or hell, have you even TRIED it yet? Because here's the truth—AI is not coming. It's already here. And whether you like it or not, your competition is probably already using it to streamline their operations, create content faster, automate customer service, or cut costs without cutting corners. So, I'll ask again: Is it helping or hurting your business? Let's back up a bit. AI has been dominating headlines—ChatGPT, automation tools, CRMs that think for you. And yes, it can feel overwhelming, especially if you're already juggling a million things just trying to keep your business moving. I get it. But let me be brutally honest for a second: If you're ignoring AI because you "don't get tech" or "don't have time"— That's an excuse. And you know this show doesn't tolerate that. Let's talk about what AI can do for your business—RIGHT NOW: It can write your social media captions, blogs, or email newsletters in minutes. It can automate customer responses or appointment reminders. It can help you analyze customer data, feedback, and buying trends without hiring a full-time team. It can take the repetitive crap off your plate so you can focus on actually growing your business. Now does that mean you should outsource your entire business brain to a bot? Hell no! But if you're stuck in busywork mode while your competitors are using AI to scale, you're falling behind. So, here's what I want you to ask yourself: Have I even TRIED using AI in my business? Am I curious or closed off to what it can do? Where in my business am I wasting time that a smart tool could streamline? And if your answer is, “I don't know where to start,” guess what? That's not a stop sign. That's a starting point. There are simple tools—many of them free or low-cost—that are built for people like YOU. You don't need to be a tech wizard to use them. Quick Action Challenge: This week, I want you to pick ONE task—just one—that eats up your time. Maybe it's writing a weekly email, answering the same client question over and over, or chasing down appointments. Now, go find an AI tool to help with it. Use ChatGPT. Try an AI scheduler. Explore automation in your email platform. Just TRY something. Because if you're not at least experimenting, you're choosing to stay stuck. And you, my friend, are too damn smart and too damn badass for that. AI isn't here to replace your magic. It's here to amplify it—if you let it. So, stop resisting. Stop making excuses. And go lead your business like the badass you are. I'll see you next week on No More Excuses. Now go take action—your future self is waiting. Cheers! Sandi
Have you ever felt like you didn't belong somewhere? I don't mean like you don't fit in. I mean, like, you are on the edge of a double black diamond and you don't see a way down. Who am I fooling? Are you an imposter? Do you talk a big game, but beat yourself with a ski pole when you don't deliver? Who are you to be so great, to be a double black diamond skier?? How do you change your can't to can?? Like how? Like the technique. Just Do It? That doesn't always cover it for me. Speaker: Sr. Richard ParksScripture: John 2Objective: 'Just Do It' focuses on taking immediate, faithful action in the face of life's challenges, drawing inspiration from the biblical story of Jesus turning water into wine. The speaker emphasizes that obedience without full comprehension is an act of faith that unlocks divine solutions.
Too many of us treat our bodies like rental cars: drive 'em hard, ignore the check engine light, and toss the keys without a second thought. But your body isn't a temporary ride, it's the only vehicle you get for this life. In this episode, I talk about what it really means to respect your body, tune into your health, and stop running yourself into the ground like there's a backup plan waiting. Whether it's how you eat, rest, move, or talk to yourself it's time for a serious mindset shift. Let's trade in the burnout for balance and start treating your body like it matters… because it does.THE NEW BOOK IS HERE!!!!AWAKEN YOUR POSITIVITY!!! *** BECOME A MEMBER ***Get early release podcasts, behind the scenes clips, out-takes and exclusive merchandise. https://www.patreon.com/bepositivepodcastSUBSCRIBE TO MY YOUTUBE CHANNELLive YouTube Podcast coming in JulyIf you're enjoying the show, I'm sure there are others out there like you who would also enjoy the show. HAPPY MONDAY MOTIVATION! Welcome back to another episode of No More Excuses! In today's episode, I talk about how marketing isn't optional if you want to grow your business. If people don't know you exist, they can't hire you, refer you, or support you. Yet many business owners hide behind excuses: “I don't have time,” “I'm not good at social media,” or “I don't know what to post.” Those are choices, not facts. EXCUSES not reasons! Here are 3 ways to start marketing in a way that actually moves the needle: Show up consistently. Visibility is currency. Pick one platform where your audience is, and commit to posting regularly—tips, behind-the-scenes, or client wins. Educate, don't just sell. Share your knowledge, answer FAQs, and post stories of client wins to build trust and credibility. Ask for engagement. Don't talk at your audience—invite them to comment, vote, or DM you. Conversations build relationships, which lead to sales. My CHALLENGE to you today: Start with ONE of these actions this week. Remember, marketing doesn't have to be complicated—it just needs to be consistent and authentic. Report back or email me at Sandi@SandiBallard.com and tell me what you are focusing on and how! No more excuses!

A big part of my research for any UK climber ends up being first, climbing-history.org run by Remus Knowles, but then immediately after I start reading endless threads on UKclimbing.com. While there, I often bump into an authoritative voice who obviously absolutely LOVES climbing history. Ted Kingsnorth. I first came across Ted's name when he made an extended effort to climb Just Do It at Smith Rock - a route whose history we detailed last season and I'm sure Ted's descriptions of the route influenced the episode. Ted made multiple trips to Smith from the UK over 3 years before succeeding, and it's that determination and belief that made me take notice. I could have reached out to a lot of people to talk about the influence of Jerry Moffatt, but as you'll hear in this conversation, Ted was absolutely the right person. Put Neal Arthur, CEO of ad powerhouse Wieden + Kennedy, firmly in the camp that AI is a great tool and will become even better — accelerating the deadlines for campaigns and making life easier for the "idea people." Definitely not in the camp recently occupied by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who predicts the $1.8 trillion ad industry is on the verge of existential AI disruption (more on this later). "AI is probably the biggest factor change right now," he said. "But I think the conversation too often becomes very zero sum. It gets very dystopian — What's gonna happen to humans in this AI world? … I'm much more optimistic than that." Widen + Kennedy has been around for more than four decades and knows how to adapt. Founder Dan Weiden crafted the famous “Just Do It” slogan in 1988 — one of Advertising Age's top five slogans of the 20th century — and this year the agency led the industry with five Super Bowl 59 ads. To hear how Arthur is navigating AI and the fine art of client relations, click below.

HAPPY MONDAY MOTIVATION! Welcome back to another episode of No More Excuses! Welcome to June. Yep, it's here. Half of 2025 is already in the rearview mirror. For small business owners, leaders, and entrepreneurs, this moment can feel either electric or exhausting. Maybe you're ahead of your goals, firing on all cylinders. Or maybe you're staring at that untouched vision board wondering where the hell the time went. Wherever you're at, here's the truth: Being off track doesn't mean you're out of the race. It just means it's time to get real, reset, and refocus. The Gut Check Ask yourself: Where am I with the goals I set in January? Which ones still matter? What did I avoid, delay, or ignore? Now, this isn't about shame or failure. It's about taking back your power. You've got 26 weeks, 182 days left in 2025. Hello 2025! Happy New Year! Happy Easter!!!In this epic-sode, I sit down with my friend Inshuti Divine to unpack her incredible journey of hiking Mount Kilimanjaro — and the life lessons tucked inside every step. From the moment she first envisioned the climb during a season of uncertainty, to hiking nearby hills because she couldn't yet afford bigger mountains, Inshuti's story is one of grit, preparation, and determination. This conversation isn't just about reaching the summit — it's about dreaming big, starting where you are, and embracing the messy, beautiful journey along the way.Happy New Year! Happy Easter! JUST DO IT!

Why Build a Breakaway Brand? With the current noise in the marketplace, gaining visibility is nearly impossible without standing out. A breakaway brand redefines the market and creates emotional connections, not just transactions. Think brands like Apple, Nike, Volkswagen, JetBlue, and Starbucks. They don't just have enthusiastic customers—they have devoted fans. If your brand can't build this connection, you'll often find yourself competing solely on price.Key Strategies for Breakaway BrandingBe Driven by Purpose, Not ProductGreat brands lead with 'why,' not 'what.' They inspire customers with a larger vision. Take Patagonia, for example; it's not just about clothing but environment and activism. Define your 'why,' make it visible, and let it drive your brand.Focus on Experience Over ExposureVisibility isn't enough; memorable experiences build lasting value. Consider how unboxing an Apple product feels like an event. Audit your customer journey to ensure every interaction with your brand is memorable.Own a Distinctive Point of ViewBreakaway brands challenge industry norms. Consider Liquid Death, a brand with a rebellious voice for selling water. What industry belief can you challenge with your brand?Build a Consistent Brand CultureYour internal culture shapes your external reputation. Brands like Zappos, with their stellar customer service culture, show that a strong internal culture is crucial. Whether you have a big team or not, consistent brand culture is vital for scalability.Tell a Story People Want to JoinYour brand's story should invite customers to be part of a journey. Nike's “Just Do It” isn't just about shoes—it's about empowering individuals. Rewrite your brand story with your customers as the hero, like the Phoenix emblem I use in my business to symbolize evolution and potential.Building a breakaway brand requires a focus on purpose, experience, perspective, culture, and storytelling. Think about how you can differentiate yourself and eliminate your competition by embracing these strategies. Your brand is unique, and so is the mission that drives it. By cultivating a breakaway brand, you inspire not only your customers but also yourself and your team. Join me tomorrow as we continue our journey to empowerment with an episode from the Franklin Planner Podcast. I hope today's insights inspire you to elevate your branding game. Thanks for listening. I appreciate you joining us for this episode.George Wright III
