Hello 2025! Happy New Year! Happy Easter!!!In this epic-sode, I sit down with my friend Inshuti Divine to unpack her incredible journey of hiking Mount Kilimanjaro — and the life lessons tucked inside every step. From the moment she first envisioned the climb during a season of uncertainty, to hiking nearby hills because she couldn't yet afford bigger mountains, Inshuti's story is one of grit, preparation, and determination. This conversation isn't just about reaching the summit — it's about dreaming big, starting where you are, and embracing the messy, beautiful journey along the way.Happy New Year! Happy Easter! JUST DO IT!

Why Build a Breakaway Brand? With the current noise in the marketplace, gaining visibility is nearly impossible without standing out. A breakaway brand redefines the market and creates emotional connections, not just transactions. Think brands like Apple, Nike, Volkswagen, JetBlue, and Starbucks. They don't just have enthusiastic customers—they have devoted fans. If your brand can't build this connection, you'll often find yourself competing solely on price.Key Strategies for Breakaway BrandingBe Driven by Purpose, Not ProductGreat brands lead with 'why,' not 'what.' They inspire customers with a larger vision. Take Patagonia, for example; it's not just about clothing but environment and activism. Define your 'why,' make it visible, and let it drive your brand.Focus on Experience Over ExposureVisibility isn't enough; memorable experiences build lasting value. Consider how unboxing an Apple product feels like an event. Audit your customer journey to ensure every interaction with your brand is memorable.Own a Distinctive Point of ViewBreakaway brands challenge industry norms. Consider Liquid Death, a brand with a rebellious voice for selling water. What industry belief can you challenge with your brand?Build a Consistent Brand CultureYour internal culture shapes your external reputation. Brands like Zappos, with their stellar customer service culture, show that a strong internal culture is crucial. Whether you have a big team or not, consistent brand culture is vital for scalability.Tell a Story People Want to JoinYour brand's story should invite customers to be part of a journey. Nike's “Just Do It” isn't just about shoes—it's about empowering individuals. Rewrite your brand story with your customers as the hero, like the Phoenix emblem I use in my business to symbolize evolution and potential.Building a breakaway brand requires a focus on purpose, experience, perspective, culture, and storytelling. Think about how you can differentiate yourself and eliminate your competition by embracing these strategies. Your brand is unique, and so is the mission that drives it. By cultivating a breakaway brand, you inspire not only your customers but also yourself and your team. Join me tomorrow as we continue our journey to empowerment with an episode from the Franklin Planner Podcast. I hope today's insights inspire you to elevate your branding game. Thanks for listening. I appreciate you joining us for this episode.George Wright III
As we get older, our thoughts tend to shift in a few key ways. Not everyone experiences all of this the same, of course, but there are some common threads people go through mentally and emotionally. HAPPY MONDAY MOTIVATION! Welcome back to the No More Excuses Podcast. Today I am reposting my VERY 1st PODCAST! I recorded this on March 21, 2016! And, it's STILL RELEVANT! I would say over the years I have gone through many adjustments in my podcast, including being more DIRECT, edgier, the occasional cuss words, but the reason I'm still here is because of YOU! Every time I've thought about stopping, someone emails me and says how much something I said resonated with them, helped them in some way, etc. etc. So... despite some pauses here and there, I'M STILL HERE! Listen in and share IF and HOW you are Spring Cleaning those GOALS!! And if you haven't even set them yet, well you better get OFF YOUR ASS and DO THAT! Email me at Sandi@SandiBallard.com or share in the comments where your BADASS is reading these notes or listening to the podcast! Cheers! Sandi

Bill Bowerman, co-founder of Nike, was on a quest for the perfect running shoe grip when he found inspiration in his wife's waffle iron. Pouring polyurethane directly onto their wedding gift, he began to develop the prototype that would eventually become Nike's legendary waffle sole trainer, and which received its patent on 26th February, 1974. But Nike wasn't always the fashion powerhouse we know today. Back then, it was still Blue Ribbon Sports, importing Japanese running shoes. Bowerman, a top U.S. college track coach, and Phil Knight, a former runner and business enthusiast, had teamed up to take on the dominant German brands like Adidas and Puma. In this episode, Arion, Rebecca and Olly explain why, despite this astonishing origin story, the sneaker was first called the "Moon Shoe"; take a whistlestop tour through some other Nike highlights, including the iconic ‘swoosh' and "Just Do It" slogan; and reveal what happened to the humble waffle iron at the centre of the story… Further Reading: • ‘Nike receives patent for waffle‑soled trainers—invented in a waffle iron | February 26, 1974' (HISTORY, 2024): https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/nike-patent-waffle-sole-trainers-invented-in-waffle-iron • ‘How Nike Won the Cultural Marathon' (The New York Times, 2022): https://www.nytimes.com/2022/06/15/style/nike-culture.html?searchResultPosition=6 • 'Iconic Nike waffle shoes worn by legendary distance runner Steve Prefontaine up for auction' (KGW News, 2022): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKnh5VVPQbU Love the show? Listen in as I share that I am a "Recovering Perfectionist" and what I was challenged to do as my first homework assignment as a coach! And then, I give you YOUR challenge to get you OUT of PERFECTIONIST-MODE and INTO ACTION-MODE! Stop tweaking. Start DOING. Stop planning. Start EXECUTING. Share this episode with someone who needs to hear it, and remember: Perfection won't get you success—ACTION will. Now, go get shit done!

Just Do It. Rosie Gabrielle isn't you typical globetrotter. She doesn't over plan. She doesn't much plan at all. She doesn't even carry a tool kit. Leaving the details to serendipity isn't for everyone, but it works for her. Though her father was killed in a motorcycle accident, it didn't scare her off. Quite the opposite. It gave her the desire to ride. Eschewing the machismo of many travellers, Gabrielle habitually pushes herself to breaking and beyond. Why? Let her tell you in her own words. And learn why Pakistan is more that just another country to check of her to-do list.
On episode one hundred and forty of Holy Ghost Notes, Matt talks about the double bass course he's been working on then talks a little about the recently re-recorded Thrill Seeker album while busting Tim's chops. The guys chat about the ever-relevant topic of “Just Do It” encouraging everyone (especially themselves) to stop putting off the thing you want to do. Similarly, they approach the topic of procrastination as it pertains to “squeezing your faith in” when its convenient. Tim brings up the Eisenhower Matrix and encourages everyone to organize what's most important in order to better prioritize and succeed.
“. . . In the wilderness . . . you saw how the Lord your God carried you, as a father carries his son, all the way you went until you reached this place.” — Deuteronomy 1:31 The picture of a father gently carrying his son is an image of God's love, power, and protection extended to us as his children. When we cannot go any further, we are drained of our desire to keep going. We feel beat up by life's circumstances and don't want to show up anymore. I remember watching a replay of the 1992 Olympics men's 400-meter semifinals in Barcelona when British runner Jim Redmond injured his leg. The announcer said, “He's out!” Redmond was in pain and couldn't run, but he hopped on one foot, heading for the finish line. The crowd cheered because he didn't stop. He wouldn't let anyone help him until his dad ran out onto the course and wrapped his arms around him. Redmond's dad wore a cap that said, “Just Do It.” But Redmond's pain was too intense, and he cried. Yet the crowd never stopped cheering. The father held his son until he made it to the finish line. When we're running our race in life and can't see our way through, our heavenly Father will gently carry us all the way. There's no reason to feel shame or guilt. We cannot “just do it.” God will carry us through the wilderness. God is always with us, wherever we are, and he promises us that we will make it through. Heavenly Father, thank you for carrying me when I can't “just do it.” I leave my shame and my guilt at Jesus' feet. In your powerful name, Lord, and by your Spirit, Amen.
Delegation is a difficult, but necessary part of growing your coffee business. It is critical in helping you grow as well. Delegation of responsibility and authority is a response to the growth of the business that, while promising to expand your organizations capacity to steward that growth, tests your resolve. That is because of what we will call the "delegation dip". Today on Shift Break we will be talking about how you can (and must!) navigate the initial dip in performance associated with delegation in order to push through to the other side where it creates higher performance, capacity, and stability in the cafe. Creating a Company Identity That Transforms Customer Experience Shep Hyken interviews Laura Richard, Principal at Level5 Strategy and one of the 2023 Woman Leaders in Consulting. She talks about the essence of branding and its role in customer experience, employee engagement, and business growth. This episode of Amazing Business Radio with Shep Hyken answers the following questions and more: What is a brand promise? What is the role of branding in enhancing the customer experience? How can businesses define their brand to impact customer relationships meaningfully? How does empowering employees align with a company's brand promise? Why is it important for employees to share the same values as the brand they work for? Top Takeaways: A brand promise is a company's commitment to its customers, defining what they can expect every time they interact with the brand. It is the guiding principle that all the decisions of an organization are centered on. A brand true to its promise creates value, builds trust, and fosters long-lasting relationships that benefit the customer and bring financial success to the business over time. Understand what matters most to the customers you want to build a relationship with. Know what they want to get and how they want to feel as a result of engaging with the brand. In a competitive market, a strong brand sets a company apart from competitors and creates an emotional connection with customers. For example, Nike empowers its customers with the motto "Just Do It," and Patagonia focuses on sustainability. Employees are essential in upholding the brand promise. When a company clearly defines its brand promise and values, it can attract employees who naturally resonate with those principles. Companies should identify which touchpoints are "table stakes," meaning basic expectations that must be met, but not necessarily exceeded. They should also focus their resources on the "moments of truth," the interactions that emotionally impact customers and can significantly deepen relationships. Plus, Shep and Laura discuss how convenience and consistency drive loyalty. Tune in! Quote: "When people hear the word brand, they think of the logo, tagline, or marketing campaigns. But a brand truly is the company's identity, the common set of truths the organization needs to deliver to create value for its customers and employees." About: Laura Richard is a Principal at Level5 Strategy and one of the 2023 Woman Leaders in Consulting. She is Chair of the Board of ParticipACTION, Canada's leading advocate for physical activity. I'm in the midst of a re-organization and it's feeling good. Join me to hear why!
I share the story about my near death experience and how it literally changed my life.
After 6 months of mental back-and-forth, I finally pulled the trigger and recorded a solo episode. No more self-doubt, no more negative self-talk, no more procrastinating. Today's theme is Just Do It. Hope you enjoy.
The topic of regrets has come up in multiple conversations recently, so I'm reposting a show I often reference. “No regrets” is an American slogan along with “No Fear” and “Just Do It.” Yet more often than not we don't, just do it. Nor should we. And having no fear is psychopathic. To me, having no regrets means you have no sorrow for ever hurting anyone or making a mistake. Even if you learned a lot and redeemed some things, I've felt regret has a purpose. Regret is simply recognizing sadness or disappointment about something we did that we wish we hadn't, or we didn't do and wish we had, and Dan Pink's research showcases it's a massive power if we'll recognize your regrets and learn from them. Not as he says, reject them or wallow in them. This was my second time having Dan on the show. He's a multi-best selling author, and when I say best selling, I don't mean one day on an obscure Amazon book category like Amish Romance, but the actual New York Times bestseller list. You'll likely recognize his books such as A Whole New Mind, Drive, To Sell Is Human, and When. His books have sold millions of copies, have been translated into forty-two languages. He also has a TED talk titled “The Puzzle of Motivation” which has somewhere north of 30 million views. Dan is an author like Brene' Brown who leads with research, and my muse in this episode is his book, The Power of Regret: How Looking Backward Moves Us Forward. I asked him back on the show the moment I saw the book title and you're about to hear me dig in with him on how we can harness regret for our progress, not suffer or run from it.
