You have two options after being bit by a rattlesnake: chase it, or get away.We have rattlesnakes in our health and wellness and we get to choose when we chase and when we get away.

Yes, I'm referencing the Taylor Swift song in that title. But really, what has someone else in this world be it an influencer, a family member, a friend made you do that changes your health and wellness journey? In this episode we are reading one of my beloved books from my childhood, "Corduroy" by Don Freeman. I love finding inspiration in such insignificant places. Of course I never made this connection before now, but I found such a profound story told about wellness journeys while reading this book to my boys. I hope you enjoy! If you have someone you would like me to interview on my upcoming online event please DM me at @elliesgilbert on Instagram. If you are someone who would like to be a part of the event, please email me at elliesgilbert@gmail.com so we can chat and see if you'd be a good fit!

Work ethic is something you don't see a lot lately. And it's sad. And I'm not just blowing smoke and saying that out of nowhere. We have hard earned and seen evidence of it in the workplace and in our personal lives (our, meaning my husband and I). Brandon and I had a good conversation about work ethic and how it translates into our health the other day and I think you will benefit from it too! Hope you enjoy. There are two side of weight loss right now: anti-diet, and pro-diet. I believe in both, because I feel there is good on both sides. What the world is missing though, is the ability to trust themselves and live in the middle ground. You don't need to follow a plan, but you also don't need to be hard core against it either. I want to help you get to a point of body trust, and live in the beautiful space where life is fun again and everything doesn't revolve around what goes or doesn't go into your mouth.
I feel that nature is a gift that we can learn so much from! When we take the time to really lean in and learn what it has to offer, we can see how much our bodies take from the normal rhythms around us as the seasons change. Join me today as we explore Spring.
We've all heard, Get out of your comfort zone! Take the risk to find the reward! Go through failure to see success! Your trials will be your triumph! While all of these statements are true, we often stay in that discomfort or risky state for too long and don't recognize when our comfort zones are actually aiding in our ability to be safe and treat our body how it should be treated. The ability to center yourself is an art. Knowing when to slow down is a blessing. Nurture it!
I went on vacation recently and took a swimsuit that didn't fit. It used to fit. So you can imagine where my mind went and how frustrated I was. I immediately went back to my diet culture thoughts and wanted to change everything I was doing with my diet and exercise. In this episode, I talk about what I did to correct those thoughts, and why I think I was having them in the first place. We touch on my history, addiction, and culture around bodies. I also share what I am doing to move on from this incident and better prepare myself for when it happens again in the future!Check out the post I was referring to on IG here: https://www.instagram.com/p/CMxEklrHQrA/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_linkLet me know your thoughts on the post!Addiction bit found on:https://medmark.com/how-does-drug-addiction-start/Make sure to share and follow the podcast!

TW: Eating DisordersI AM NOT A CLINICIAN OR PHYSICIANAll claims are my own from personal experiences. Orthorexia, though there is no clinical diagnostic material, shares the same traits as anorexia. The current obsession with "healthful" food and wellness practices is on the rise, and while to most it seems not harmful and even necessary, taking health to an obsessive level comes with certain negative impacts. On this episode I share my personal story with orthorexia, things I've seen in my clients, and steps I'm taking and recommend for people dealing with the same struggles. Information on orthorexia was found at www.nationaleatingdisorders.com/learn/by-eating-disorder/other/orthorexia*Please consult a licensed therapist or physician if you are looking for help with an eating disorder.*
