Steve Gruber sits down with Mark Mix, President of the National Right to Work Committee and the National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation, to discuss a bold new legislative push to protect independent-minded workers from unwanted union control. Sen. Bill Cassidy's Worker RESULTS Act aims to restore workplace democracy by mandating secret-ballot union elections, banning coercive “card check” organizing, and cutting back on union bosses' ability to block workers from voting out ineffective representation. Mark explains how this proposal stands in stark contrast to other plans, like Sen. Josh Hawley's “Faster Labor Contracts Act,” which could impose forced arbitration and strip workers of their rights. This conversation highlights the fight to defend worker freedom and choice in the workplace.

For more than a century, an invasive species has been literally sucking the life out of the Great Lakes. They're known as sea lampreys. After nearly decimating commercial fishing operations in the early 20th Century, a management program was created to keep the lampreys at bay.  It's been successful: the number of sea lampreys has been reduced by 90% since the program first began. But the work has been on-going and now cuts to the federal program are threatening that progress. Journalist Katie Thornton tagged along with some of the people doing this work, and wrote about it for The New Yorker. She joins Lake Effect's Joy Powers, along with Mark Gaden, the executive secretary of the Great Lakes Fishery Commission, whose work was featured in the piece.

In this episode we dive into The Unwanted Undead Adventurer. We dig into the world building which was solid in its own right and the fact that they have an in-story researcher helps explain everything naturally, plus the power mix that the MC uses along with the weird biology bits like one drop of blood apparently goes a long way help to tie it all in and explain some of the other mechanics as well. However the early sprint with minimal explanation of the overall time line does hinder it a bit as it does not really give you much in the way of the overall progression. Plus there were a few dangling threads that bugged us luckily there is a Season 2 confirmed.About the anime:Rentt is an unlucky veteran adventurer who dies after running into a dragon(?) in the Labyrinth of the Moon's Reflection which is supposed to be a low level (or easy if you will) dungeon and then revives as a skeleton. He learns that defeating monsters fuels his “existential” evolution, letting him climb undead forms toward his goal of becoming human again or as close to it as possible.
