Register today at https://takecontroladhd.com/gps---Rest, relaxation, recuperation. Three words we reach for when we're empty, and all three have collapsed into the same meaning: stop doing something. The older meanings point somewhere far more interesting, toward getting strength back rather than simply halting some energetic drain. This week, Pete walks Nikki through research from occupational psychology that helps explain a frustrating experience most ADHDers likely know well: taking the time off and still coming back exhausted. There are four distinct kinds of recovery, they don't substitute for each other, and picking the wrong one is why a whole weekend of rest can leave you no better than you started.Along the way: why sitting still can make mental noise louder, why your hobby might be the most restorative thing on your calendar, why the scroll fails every test, and how to match the kind of rest you choose to the kind of tired you are.Links & NotesThe Recovery Experience QuestionnaireSupport the Show on PatreonDig into the podcast Shownotes Database (00:00) - Welcome to Taking Control: The ADHD Podcast (01:32) - Support the Show on Patreon! Space to Dream Global Workshops: wendy-harrop.com/experiences-cart/p/space-to-dream-globalSonya Weisshappel calls herself the Chaos Whisperer, and her business card should probably read more like a dictionary than a title — she helps people move through major life transitions by starting with what's actually around them, whether that's a friend circle that no longer fits or a lifetime of inherited belongings nobody's touched since a loved one died. In this episode, Sonya and Wendy explore:Why it's okay to let go of relationships that used to be a match and no longer are, and how to trust that shift without needing to explain itThe disconnect Sonya sees constantly between what someone says they want and what their actual physical surroundings are set up to supportHow organizing a closet, a junk drawer, or a lifetime of inherited belongings is rarely just about the stuff, and why the physical work often opens a side door into grief that talk therapy alone doesn't always reachSonya's approach isn't about decluttering, or networking, for their own sake. This week Erik and Aidan are back to discuss the beginning of this year's US Open and what they expect going forward in the next two weeks of tennis. Even in the opening couple of days there were plenty of eventful matches, including the massive upset of Novak Djokovic in the first round, which could be a sign that this will be Djokovic's last US Open ever. On the other end of the tennis spectrum Arthur Fils suffered an upset loss to Stefanos Tstisipas despite being a dark horse candidate to win the whole tournament. The guys break down these losses and consider what this means for the rest of the draw going forward for players like Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev. Enjoy the recap and and be sure to check back next week for another episode!Contents:Shock Upsets 0:00Fils Collapses 2:35Djokovic Finished? 4:50Draw Analysis 8:07Dark Horse Players 14:50US Open Experience 15:45Stan gets Wildcard 20:58What's New? 22:18Bet of the Week 25:36Match of the Week 26:38

I am talking to the incredible Victoria Nino, author of Our Hearts Match, donor conception advocate, and mom of two about one of the most vulnerable moments in a fertility journey: what happens after IVF fails. Victoria has lived through multiple failed IVF cycles, stage three endometriosis, years of heartbreak, and ultimately became a mother twice over through donor egg conception via two very different paths. Her story is raw, honest, and full of the kind of hard-won wisdom that only comes from truly living it. We dive deep into the emotional rollercoaster of failed IVF cycles, the grief that so often goes unacknowledged, and what it really takes to open the door to donor eggs, not out of defeat, but out of empowerment. Victoria shares how education, community, and even a spiritual trip to Thailand helped her find her footing, and why she believes you don't have to be 100% emotionally ready, you just have to be willing to take a peek. In this episode, we cover: The grief of failed IVF cycles and why it deserves to be treated like any other profound loss The emotional tipping point between exhaustion and openness when considering donor eggs The difference between fresh and frozen donor eggs including cost, timeline, and access What an open donor relationship looks like and why Victoria wishes she'd had it from the start How epigenetics and bonding science can help shift your perspective on the mother-child relationship Overcoming shame, fear of judgment, and the "am I the real mom?" question Why Victoria's one regret is that she didn't do it sooner and what she'd tell anyone in the "what now" moment right now Resources: Victoria Nino on Instagram: @expectinganything Victoria's website: expectinganything.com Victoria's support groups & classes: Infertility Unfiltered | @infertilityunfiltered Donor Nexus (frozen & fresh egg donation with open relationship options): https://www.instagram.com/donor.nexus/ Book: Our Hearts Match by Victoria Nino Book: What Makes a Baby by Cory Silverberg The Egg Whisperer Show on YouTube and Spotify My Book, The Egg Whisperer Way comes out in Spring of 2027. Chris Beesley is joined in the studio by Connor O'Neill for the latest episode of the Royal Blue Podcast as they discuss Iliman Ndiaye's potential move to Manchester City, the closing days of Everton's transfer window, the ongoing uncertainty surrounding Jack Grealish's future, and the Blues' upcoming Premier League clash against Bournemouth. On Today's Show: Iliman Ndiaye Latest: Manchester City are very interested in signing Everton's star attacker, Iliman Ndiaye. With just a few days to go before the transfer window slams shut, can Everton afford to lose Ndiaye and if they do, how much would be enough to part ways with him? Transfer Window Tension: With the deadline fast approaching, Everton fans are anxiously waiting to see if David Moyes will land critical target areas like right-back and extra forward cover. The panel breaks down Moyes' latest press conference comments at Finch Farm, evaluating the squad's depth after mid-week pre-season action. Grealish Speculation & Squad Dilemmas: Connor and Chris debate the latest transfer rumours, analysing whether Jack Grealish could return on loan, how his potential arrival impacts existing options, and the recent noise surrounding defenders Jake O'Brien and Michael Keane. Bournemouth Preview & Preston Reflection: Looking back at the pre-season friendly performance against Preston North End and previewing the long road trip down to Dorset to face Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.
Dean Cheng, co-host Gordon Chang: Cheng analyzes China's space program and its pursuit of reusable booster technology to match SpaceX's cost-saving launch cadences. Although China has successfully recaptured first-stage boosters, it has not yet demonstrated refurbishing or reusing them. Cheng notes that China seeks space dominance to deploy six mega-constellations and establish moon colonies. He suggests that a delay in China's lunar south pole probe—officially blamed on solar exposure—is likely due to the ongoing accident investigation of the Long March 7 rocket failure. Cheng predicts a Chinese astronaut will walk on the moon by December 31, 2030. (6)
