There was a time when a movie title sequence was just the moment you grabbed your popcorn and waited for the real show to start. But in the mid-90s and early 2000's, that changed forever with films like Seven and shows like Mad Men and Stranger Things. The title sequence became a prologue—a metaphor for the film itself. This is a preview of a premium episode. To listen to the full interview, head over to our Substack:https://designbetterpodcast.com/p/mikon-van-gastel Our guest today, Mikon Van Gastel, was right there in the trenches of that revolution. After a formative and intense education at the Cranbrook Academy of Art—where the only teachers were artists in residence and your toughest critics were your peers—Mikon cut his teeth at the legendary studio Imaginary Forces. Today, Mikon is the Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Sibling Rivalry, a hybrid brand studio and production company he founded with his best friend, Joe Wright. They've built a reputation for work that blurs the lines between branding, storytelling, and architecture.z In this episode, we explore the sheer scale of modern experience design. Mikon takes us behind the scenes of his work for the Sphere in Las Vegas—a venue he calls the “Champions League of content creation”. We discuss how to design for shared emotion, balancing the “collective gasp” of a 20,000-person audience with moments of intimate connection. We also dig into the business of creativity. Mikon opens up about the “sleepless nights” of running an agency in a project-based economy and how he refuses to transition fully into a management role, preferring to write treatments and stay hands-on with the work on nights and weekends. Whether you are designing software interfaces or directing films, Mikon's philosophy on collaboration and stripping away the noise to serve the core idea is something we can all learn from. Bio Mikon van Gastel is Director, CEO, and Co-Founder of creative agency Sibling Rivalry, based in New York and Miami. Originally from Holland, he earned his MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art before launching his career at Imaginary Forces, where he designed award-winning title sequences for feature films and theatrical trailers. Van Gastel's work spans multiple disciplines, with notable projects in architecture and experience design including MoMA's interactive signage system, BMW World in Munich, the digital displays at Santiago Calatrava's World Trade Center Oculus, and most recently, immersive films for the world's first keynote inside The Sphere in Las Vegas. He also created a VR series with renowned curator Paola Antonelli. He continues to direct commercial campaigns and product launches for major brands including Apple TV+, Ford, Google, Target, BVLGARI, and Vogue, working with high-profile talent such as Drake, Taylor Swift, Lionel Messi, and Lewis Hamilton. Van Gastel speaks internationally about design integration and emerging industry trends at cultural and educational institutions worldwide. *** This is a premium episode on Design Better. If you're planning a trip to Ireland in 2026 these tips will make planning smoother, help you avoid crowds, and maybe even save you a bit of money. Probably the most important tips are when NOT to be in Dublin, but there are some updates to European entry & exit systems that you need to know, as well as really important advice for 2027. Jody Halsted – Ireland Family Vacations and the Traveling in Ireland podcast In case you're wondering why you would want to get your Ireland travel advice from me… My name is Jody Halsted, and I am an Ireland travel advisor. I have been traveling to and through Ireland for over 23 years (!!), publish Ireland Family Vacations, host the Traveling in Ireland podcast, assist hundreds of travelers with their Ireland vacations each year and, occasionally, I also host small group tours through Ireland (I have 2 this spring so you can look forward to some live from Ireland episodes in April and May). That's a lot! But Ireland travel is my passion; and my goal -100% – is to help you have an amazing Ireland vacation. And I have quite a few ways to do that. My website, Ireland Family Vacations, is a complete resource for Ireland vacation planning – filled with information on what to do & see as well as handy tips for planning your trip and free itineraries to get your plans in motion quickly. (Don't let the name fool you! I travel through Ireland solo, with my husband, with my family, and hosting small group tours. Whatever your group size or dynamic I am able to assist!) My itinerary personalization, vacation coaching, and custom itinerary creation services help you maximize your Ireland experience, and my small group guided tours are designed to not only deliver the ‘authentic' Ireland of your dreams but also introduce you to the people and hidden places that make the country so very magical. If you love the process of planning your trip the Ireland Travel Compass walks you step-by-step through my expert process, from when to visit and how long the perfect vacation lasts, to what to see, where to stay, and even what to eat. It's basically my entire Ireland vacation planning brain laid out. On a more personal note, I have 2 daughters, now in college, who have been traveling through Ireland with me since before they could toddle and one very supportive husband (who loves it when I plan other people's vacations because it means I'm not planning my own). At Malahide Castle (It's probably time to get new family photos done)By Aoife for Flytographer; Dublin, Ireland. All rights reserved. Now that you know all about me, let's jump into what you need to know as you consider planning an Ireland vacation in 2026! This article is based on Traveling in Ireland podcast episode 320. Use the player below to listen or scroll to continue reading the article and get resource links. 2026 Ireland Travel Tips You Need Ireland Travel Rules & Regulations There are currently no restrictions in place for North Americans traveling to Ireland.Ireland travel restrictions and other requirement are found here. In Case of Cancellation Read and understand cancellation policies on everything from flights and transportation to tours and accommodations before booking. If booking with a credit card be aware of the cancellation coverage you may have with that card. I highly recommend purchasing travel insurance if you book tickets our tours that don't allow 100% refund if cancelled. And always if you are booking a tour package (and not necessarily the one the company offers). 2026 Looks like Another Busy Year from Travel to Ireland from North America Irish tourism numbers showed that tourism from Europe into Ireland was down, but numbers from North America remained steady. From my perspective things are already looking busy, especially in the months of May, late August, and September. (The shoulder season is the new high season.) More Direct Flights to Ireland in 2026 Aer Lingus, Ireland's flagship airline is adding 2 new US routes in 2026, bringing the total to 18 routes from Dublin! This is important because Aer Lingus is considered a ‘budget' carrier. And when budget carriers enter a market, US based airlines will drop rates to compete.

We're breaking down the unglamorous but powerful habits that make life easier: setting boundaries, protecting your sleep, getting out of your own head, and handling the life-admin tasks you keep avoiding. It's not sexy, but it'll change everything.  What's Trending: Music fans, this one's for you. From whispers of a new Olivia Rodrigo album and fresh Bruno Mars music to “Golden” smashing chart records and Taylor Swift setting yet another milestone with “Fate of Ophelia,” we cover all the big headlines. And because no episode is complete without snacks and random holidays, we're also talking Krispy Kreme's new winter donuts and National Bean Day.  Second Date Update: David thought he and Claire had real chemistry — ramen, cocktails, laughs about their dogs, and solo travel tips. He called her amazing, smart, funny… a total catch. Then she ghosted. We dig into what went wrong.  Lifestyle Tweaks to Keep Your Mind Sharp as You Age: From your plate to your playlist to your people, small lifestyle choices can help protect your brain as you age. We're diving into easy, everyday tweaks like learning something new, exercising, eating more color, and staying socially connected all things that support long-term mental sharpness.  Good News: A heartbreaking discovery leads to a beautiful ending. We're talking about the rescue of a one-year-old terrier mix found inside a self-compacting trash can and the police officer who not only saved the puppy's life, but later returned to adopt him and give him a forever home.

"The ratings have never been higher!" Show Notes from ep 13: Clown Show*EZ shared some bad news with Ben Glaze.*Ben drops a clip where EZ has to figure out what one of the crew is actually saying.*We came to the conclusion that the shows we reviewed were heavily saturated with lots of talk about food...specifically, the difference between hot dogs and sausage.*The crew segues from talking about sausage v hot dogs to talking about clothing...without context.*EZ is amazed with how the show is popular with some of the most mundane subject matter ever discussed on the radio.*The "Around the Room" segment then features another Free Beer attempt at making his ex wife jealous by spending significant time wishing new Mrs. Free Beer "happy birthday."*Free Beer tough talks sushi.*The parade of food talk continues as the crew breaks down quiche.*EZ has an idea to keep Kelly from screeching so much.*The gang reviewed an old instructional video for aspiring clowns. It was full of "do's and don'ts" for clowns who want to perform at old-folks homes. FB throws out some jokes, that are actually not the worst...but he gets nothing from his quiet co workers.*After EZ and Ben review the clown video segment, they took a hard look at one of the most pointless things that FBHW have ever done..."Maitland's Kohls Game." This game is a huge pile of shit. Why Gregg and Maitland insist on giving the boring backstory of this debacle is beyond me, or anyone who hears it. To top it all off, the game is a carbon copy of all they're other games...Just yell shit out and laugh hysterically.  Our Sponsors:* Check out Aura.com: https://aura.com/remove* Check out Secret Nature and use my code ZANE for a great deal: https://secretnature.comSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-eric-zane-show-podcast/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Host: Cindy Allen Published: January 2, 2026 Length: ~15 minutes Presented by: Global Training Center Summary The first Cindy's Version episode of 2026 kicks off with reflection, perspective, and a clear-eyed look at how fundamentally global trade has changed. Inspired by Taylor Swift's Right Where You Left Me, Cindy Allen explains why many trade professionals feel stuck between old rules and a completely new enforcement reality. While the holidays brought a brief pause in activity, the underlying shifts from 2025 are still very much in motion. From tariff threats that didn't materialize, to delayed Section 232 actions, to long-awaited automation updates from CBP, Cindy walks through what changed—and what didn't—over the past two weeks. More importantly, she explains why 2025 will be remembered as a pivotal year in trade history, on par with other transformational moments like containerization, air cargo, and automated clearance. This Week in Trade • Proposed 92% antidumping duties on Italian pasta were ultimately set far lower, avoiding combined duty rates exceeding 100% • Section 232 cases on upholstered furniture and kitchen cabinets were delayed for one year • Importers planning remodels may benefit from acting within the next year • The trade community continues to wait on Supreme Court decisions related to IEEPA reciprocal and fentanyl cases • Attention now shifts to when the Court returns to session CBP & Regulatory Updates • CBP announced all duty refunds will be issued electronically beginning in February • Electronic refunds become mandatory in March • CBP clarified procedures for refunds owed to brokers or third parties using Form 4811 • Industry hopes this signals a move toward fully electronic payments, including: • Protests • Post-Summary Corrections • Other remittance processes COAC Updates • COAC will meet virtually on January 14 • Previous subcommittees and workgroups were dissolved last year • Industry is watching closely for: • A new COAC structure • New workgroups or subcommittees • Applications for new COAC members closed in December • Several current members are rolling off after reaching term limits • Appointments are expected later in the year, not at the January meeting Why “Right Where You Left Me” Fits This Moment Cindy explains that while trade professionals earned every bit of their experience in 2025, the rules of engagement have changed. Enforcement is heavier, actions are more industry-specific, and governments are using every tool available—sometimes in new and unexpected ways. Formal announcements are often replaced by rumors, social media posts, or informal signals, forcing the industry to operate in a constant state of readiness. At the same time, the government expects the trade community to adapt just as aggressively—leveraging automation, data, and new technologies to meet rising compliance expectations. What was once a rigid, compartmentalized system has become layered and complex, operating simultaneously at the country, industry, company, and even product level. The challenge now is not getting stuck in the way trade “used to be,” but learning how to move forward in a system that no longer looks the same. Key Takeaways • 2025 marked a fundamental shift in how trade policy is applied and enforced • Tariffs and trade remedies are increasingly industry-, company-, and product-specific • Automation and data will play a critical role in future compliance • Informal signals now often precede formal policy announcements • Trade professionals must evolve—or risk being left behind RESOURCES & MENTIONS • Global Training Center • TradeForce Multiplier Credits Host: • Cindy Allen – LinkedIn • Trade Force Multiplier Producer: • Lalo Solorzano – LinkedIn Subscribe & Follow New episodes every Friday. And they're trying to get to the next level, and they're like, 'Oh well, if I like this then I'm not gonna get to the next level.' It's actually the opposite. You're probably gonna play better if you show who you truly are, because you're more free." Everyone loves Jackson Olson. The Savannah Bananas infielder is on a mission to make baseball more fun — and he's doing just that. Jackson has made a name for himself playing Banana Ball, which is like the baseball version of the Harlem Globetrotters. The exhibition-style games include full-on performances with choreography, lip syncing, and walk-ups designed to delight the sold-out stadium crowds. In this conversation, Jackson talks about his road to the Bananas, and his road to becoming a runner. This fall, Jackson ran his first race — the Disney Wine & Dine 5K — and now he's training for a 10K in January while figuring out how running fits into his busy baseball season. Plus, talking Taylor Swift, Disney World, and how Jackson found his voice and his confidence.  FOLLOW JACKSON @jacksonolson_ SPONSOR:  New Balance: Click here to get your hands on the fan favorite Rebel v5!
