"Fibromyalgia can take a lot from us, but it doesn't have to take everything." - Tami Stackelhouse One of the hardest parts of living with fibromyalgia is how much joy can quietly disappear from your life. Activities you used to love start feeling out of reach and even simple things like going out with friends or spending time on a hobby can feel too draining. Over time, it's easy to lose sight of what brings you happiness when most of your energy is going toward managing your pain and getting through the day. But joy is not something you "earn" once you feel better. Joy is part of what helps you feel better. It plays an essential role in calming your nervous system, lowering pain levels, and helping your body shift out of constant survival mode. When fibromyalgia makes your world smaller, joy often feels like the first thing to go, but it's actually one of the most powerful tools you have for healing. The good news is that joy doesn't need to be big or complicated. It just needs to be intentional. In this episode, Tami walks you through her Joy List exercise, a simple and meaningful practice to help you identify personal sources of joy. She talks about how fibromyalgia can lead to a loss of hobbies, work, and social connection, the emotional weight that follows these changes, the biology of joy, how dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin support pain relief and healing, three reflective questions to help you rediscover what brings happiness and meaning, practical tips for creating your Joy List, why certain activities bring joy and how to adapt them in new ways, accepting that joy may look different now and that change is part of healing, focusing on the feeling of joy rather than trying to recreate past experiences, finding new forms of joy through creativity and flexibility, six simple ways to add joy into your daily life, reframing your understanding of joy as a muscle, why reconnecting with joy is crucial for managing fibromyalgia, why now is the best time to start or revisit your personal joy list, supportive resources you can utilize on your journey of rediscovering joy, knowing when to seek help from a coach or community, and more. Remember, the parts of you that feel lost are still there, waiting for you to reach for them again. Note: This episode is not meant to be medical advice. Every person and every situation is unique. Most adults stop playing long before they stop dreaming. Somewhere between deadlines and responsibilities, hobbies quietly disappear and with them, a big part of what makes life exciting. In this episode, I sit down with James Buckley — speaker, creator, and unapologetic Lord of the Rings super-fan — to talk about how geeking out can actually make you better at your job, happier at home, and more energized in life.We explore how Tolkien's world of courage, creativity, and curiosity fuels James's professional drive and why chasing passions outside of work might be the most productive thing you can do for your career. You'll hear us break down:Why hobbies aren't a distraction but oxygen for your purpose. How fandoms and passions create connection, creativity, and energy that spill into your work. Why adults stop doing what they love — and how to reignite it.What Lord of the Rings can teach us about leadership, purpose, and perseverance. If you've ever felt like you've lost that spark — the one that used to make you excited to wake up and chase something — this conversation will remind you what it means to live fully.Because when you give yourself permission to chase dreams and geek out again… work gets better, life gets lighter, and purpose becomes a lot clearer.Love This? It is easy to understand a person who is driven by their passions.Your passions take you to your happy place.I have friends who have a passion for sporting events on television. Others have a passion for gambling, and the paripatetic have a passion for traveling to all the far-flung places on this spinning rock we live upon.People who have a passion for achievement live to make things different.Planning and research puts a candle to the wick of some people. They go without sleep and burn bright throughout the night as they gather, collate, and organize information that will set the future on fire.Your scars are the memories of bitter experiences. The pain is gone, but the benefits of those experiences remain. Your scars help you see danger on the horizon.Your scars are the diplomas of lessons you will never forget. It is good to have scars. But wounds… wounds are different. The pain remains and it triggers you to act in ways that everyone notices but no one understands. Sometimes not even you.I have known men whose only passion was to seduce every woman they encountered. Those men like to believe that they are “in love with falling in love.” But when you have known them long enough you will see a knife wound in their chest that has never healed. Way back in the long ago, they had a wife who began sleeping with another man. And ever since that day, they have been trying to become that man.The pain of a wound is a powerful thing. It shouts, “Never again! Never again! Never again!”I don't believe that any of those men have ever figured out why they feel driven to become the living embodiment of the imaginary Don Juan, and I have never felt that it was my place to tell them.Every person is formed by their passions, scars, and wounds. Even imaginary people. All of the famous characters in literature were created from their passions, scars, and wounds.Novelists, playwrights, and screenwriters know this. Ad writers do not. This is why most advertising is dull, dead, and untwitching. When an ad writer is guided by the ambitions, demands, and expectations of their clients, you can expect to hear the glorious trumpets of a ringing call to action. “Come! Come now! Give me your money! Hurry! Hurry! I want your money Today! Today! Today! Act now! Don't delay!”We are not enchanted by these ads.Did it ever occur to you that every successful brand is a character that lives in the mind of the customer?A successful brand is driven by its passions, scars, and wounds.Passion: Why does this brand exist? What is it chasing? What love does it represent?Scars: What does it know? What has it learned? Why can I trust this brand?Wounds: What is this brand trying to erase from the earth? To what does it shout, “Never again! Never again! Never again!”Roy H. Williams

Love to hear from you; “Send us a Text Message”What if the ache you feel isn't a flaw to fix but a fire to aim? We open with the shocking power of eros—the sudden arrest of beauty, the pulse of attraction—and follow it to its true end: a life of self-gift that can heal hearts, families, and even a nation fraying at the seams. The story moves from a teenage moment of reverent awe to the Cross itself, where God's desire for us becomes agape: “This is my body, given for you.”Along the way, we tackle why so many feel anxious and untethered. Cut off from God, desire gets hijacked by porn, politics, and consumerism. Freedom without virtue collapses into manipulation, and culture drifts between corrupt elites and coercive ideologies. James 4:1-10 1 1 What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions are at war within you? 2 You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. 3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions. 4 You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. 5 Or do you suppose it is to no purpose that the Scripture says, “He yearns jealously over the spirit that he has made to dwell in us”? 6 But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.

Ryan launches a multi-part series, Twisted Passions, addressing homosexuality and same-sex attraction from a biblical framework. He establishes why pastors should clearly preach what Scripture says while also equipping the church to counsel and care for strugglers, and he outlines upcoming topics: Is this sin “different,” are people “born this way,” and how do we raise kids in a sexualized culture? The aim is clarity, compassion, and confident hope in Christ for real victory.Topics DiscussedWhy churches must preach plainly on homosexuality (OT & NT texts)Common progressive rebuttals and why they don't hold up biblically (e.g., “love = affirmation,” misuse of John 8)Word study: ἀρσενοκοίτης and Paul's clarity in 1 Cor 6 / 1 Tim 1Beyond the pulpit: moving from denunciation to discipleship and counseling in the local churchShepherding kids in a perverted culture; building a proactive family planInviting listener questions/testimonies for future episodesKey TakeawaysScripture speaks clearly; pastors should, too—without hatred or compromise.“Love the sinner; hate the sin” isn't a cliché—Jesus says, “Go and sin no more.”Paul's terminology intentionally names male-with-male practice; it isn't vague.Churches must pair clear preaching with hands-on help for real people.Parents need an intentional, early plan to disciple children amid cultural lies.Ready to download the Cord App? Pastor Dave Bondeson unpacks Genesis 3 in this message, "Known and Unashamed," revealing the forces that damage our relationships. He identifies two key enemies: our internal sin nature and the external influence of Satan. Using Genesis 3:1-13, Pastor Dave examines how Satan undermines our trust in God's goodness by twisting God's word and inflaming our desires, causing us to prioritize our wants over our relationships. He cautions against detachment and blame-shifting, urging listeners to draw a circle around themselves and work on what's within their control. Discover how surrendering to Jesus Christ is the only path to true restoration and authentic connection, empowering us to overcome sin and move towards others in love.
People are growing old and losing their senses, passions, ambitions ...Getting stacked in their life routines. And that they call wisdom… And then they like to stop other people to have fun, sex, and rock n' roll…Or to try out new things… Even worse these old people have never gained any spirituality or faith in the Lord… Osho called that a useless life… In the Hindu Religion, they discovered the Vasanas …The Vasanas are behavior, passions in different ages of our life, that we should live for a healthy life. For instance, kids at certain ages like to play certain games, like to learn certain things and behave differently… When they are in their puberty they discover their sexuality… and want sex… And that is normal and good… So older we grow so less sex is possible… and so easier it is to develop spirituality and faith in the Lord… This means, so older we get so more we should develop our spirituality, faith in the Lord because that makes sense… The Hindu scripture recommended to separate with 50, from their family, kids (not from their spouse), and live for God… And we should not force our kids to become saints… because that are not their vasanas. Today, life is different and the smartphone is our God and the passions are forgotten…We see everywhere depressed people …If the depressed people would live their vasanas, the frustration would be much less… At least we should make something that makes sense for us and is fulfilling …We should build up every day our Self-esteem otherwise we get frustrated … Again people should never stop other people to live their vasanas even they are parents or grandparents… Let the young people live their sex and Rock and Roll, and the older people develop their spirituality and love for God … My Video: You need to live your passions https://youtu.be/Y-XX8ccw7mQMy Audio: https://divinesuccess.net/wp-content/uploads/2021/Podcast1/You-need-to-live-your-passions.mp3

Chapter 2.1 of the Second London Baptist Confession of Faith (1689) tells us; “The Lord our God is but ‘one only living and true God; whose subsistence is in and of himself, infinite in being and perfection; whose essence cannot be comprehended by any but himself; “a most pure spirit, invisible, without body, parts, or passions…”This term ‘passions' does not mean the Lord is emotionless; but rather, that He is unmoved by external forces to change his mind. SHOW NOTES In Podcast Episode 345, “Personal Passions of the Powerful,” Kim discusses the importance of recognizing the personal aspects of the public personalities who impact large groups of people. Kim shared some of the unique passions of former and current world leaders and personalities, as well as King Uzziah love for the soil. When we pray for world leaders, we need to be reminded that each one is a human for whom Christ died. Our focal passage for this episode is 2 Chronicles 26:6-10, with 10 as the focal verse: 10 He also constructed forts in the wilderness and dug many water cisterns, because he kept great herds of livestock in the foothills of Judah and on the plains. He was also a man who loved the soil. He had many workers who cared for his farms and vineyards, both on the hillsides and in the fertile valleys. WEEKLY ENGAGEMENT FEATURE: Passionately pray for world leaders as humans, not as their titles alone. This lecture discusses key ideas from the modern philosopher Thomas Hobbes' work Leviathan It focuses specifically on on the second part of chapter 6, where Hobbes tells us that the basic passions are diversified into a number of other passions in four main manners. 1. called from the opinion men have of the likelihood of attaining what they desire 2. from the object loved or hated 3. from the consideration of many of them together 4. from the alteration or succession itself He also discusses how passions figure into what he calls "deliberation" and makes the claim that a person's "will" is simply the last passion in the succession that determines their action. H finishes by discusses different modes of language by which people signify what their passions are. This lecture discusses key ideas from the modern philosopher Thomas Hobbes' work Leviathan It focuses specifically on chapter 6, in which Hobbes develops his basic philosophy of human and animal action, which stems from the senses and movements of the body, and then flows into endeavor of appetite and aversion. These then give rise to other affects such as love, contempt, and hatred, joy and grief, and to differing judgements about various forms of good and evil. David Clancy is a world-class sports physio and author who's taken more than a few sharp turns in his career. He's had to face the same questions many of us wrestle with: Do I stay in the safe lane or risk starting over? How do I manage different passions without spreading myself too thin? What do I do with that voice in my head telling me I don't belong? In this episode, David and I dig into the practical side of career pivots and personal growth, including: •The real reasons people avoid changing direction—even when they know they're unhappy. •How to make a career shift without blowing up everything you've built. •Why imposter phenomenon can be a sign you're on the right track, and how to keep it from paralyzing you. •The challenge of chasing multiple passions and what filters help you decide what's worth pursuing. •How relationships—not networking, but genuine ones—end up making or breaking your next move. •The skill of listening, and why it matters more than being the smartest person in the room. This isn't theory. It's a conversation packed with examples you can relate to if you've ever thought about pivoting, felt stuck in a role you've outgrown, or struggled with the noise of self-doubt.
What if you could finally understand what it really takes to grow as a lawyer beyond just practicing law? In this first part of a special two-part Be That Lawyer Live, Steve Fretzin brings together Daniel Scola, Eido Walny, and Karl Seelbach for a candid conversation you won't hear anywhere else. You'll be pulled into their stories, their struggles, and the strategies that shaped their careers in ways most attorneys never talk about openly. As you listen, you'll discover how much of this applies directly to you, wherever you are in your own journey. This episode isn't just about hearing from successful lawyers — it's about helping you see what's possible for yourself. In this episode, Steve, Daniel, Eido, and Karl discuss:Challenges lawyers face in business development and rainmakingImportance of consistent habits and time management in client growthRole of personal passions, networking, and authentic connections in practice-buildingLessons learned from mistakes that shape long-term legal careers Key Takeaways:Many lawyers struggle with rainmaking because they aren't taught marketing skills, and mentorship or coaching is often the turning point in learning business development.Time-blocking, using a CRM, and accountability partners are crucial for keeping business development efforts consistent and measurable.Combining personal passions (like car restoration or music) with client relationships creates authentic connections that naturally lead to new business opportunities.Asking directly for business and following through on promises builds trust, while overpromising or relying on others' client relationships can backfire. "Not overpromising is a really important one for me… you've got to deliver what you say." — Daniel Scola "There are two things that this firm can never and no one can ever take away from you. That's your knowledge base and your contact base." — Eido Walny "Clients aren't going to remember every case you handle, but they're never going to forget how you make them feel." — Karl Seelbach Check out my new show, Be That Lawyer Coaches Corner, and get the strategies I use with my clients to win more business and love your career again.Thank you to our Sponsors!Rankings.io: https://rankings.io/Legalverse Media: https://legalversemedia.com/ Ready to grow your law practice without selling or chasing? This week, Jake and Bob welcome Fr. Matthew Rolling to the show to discuss healing through the lens of Thomistic philosophy. The path to healing isn't a straight path and sometimes our experiences in life cloud our perception of reality. Fr. Matthew explains why philosophy helps us find truth and how it can redirect us when we become confused within our healing journeys. They also explore how sin affects healing, the role of our passions, and the importance of grace. Key Points: Philosophy helps us find the truth about reality Not all questions can be answered by human reason alone The human person is a union of body and soul We should not let our experiences define our reality Our desires have the ability to lead us towards what is inherently good Grace perfects nature, it does not destroy it Resources: The Glorious Freedom of the Children of God by Fr. Otto E. Stallworth, Jr, MD, MBA, an anesthesiologist and then a cosmetic surgeon, was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama during the 1940s, fifties and sixties. He crossed the Alabama state line for the first time at sixteen to attend college and was the first college graduate in his family. This was followed by a medical degree at 24 and later an MBA outside of medicine. He has had several businesses, including Oh Yes! Management and Hollywood Fries Restaurant. In 2022, he began the Stallworth Oh Yes! Foundation, which has awarded four-year full scholarships to students at Howard University and Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee, his alma maters. He published his memoir in 2023. Look soon for his first murder mystery. "When I got into med school, it was even better than anything I could imagine. Every day was a new adventure because you learn about all these different diseases and study the human body. Studying all of this was very intriguing. As a child I just wanted to have this skill to be able to help people. You see someone that is sick and think about if you could cure them or help them get cured or give them the right advice–that seemed like an amazing and very powerful thing."
Together, we examine The Morality of The Passions. Fr. Mike unpacks and explores the different elements of the definition of “passions”. He emphasizes that while passions, themselves, are neither good nor bad, there still is a moral component to them. It is what we do with our passions that can either contribute to virtue or vice.
