When Nava Kavelin (host of Podcrushed) lost weight at 16, the shift in how the world treated her was immediate and jarring. She went from being invisible to having 10 boys aggressively pursuing her. She joins Nicole to unpack the complicated resentment of suddenly becoming "visible" to people who previously looked right through you. They get into why reciprocity is the bare minimum for a good relationship, the misery of dating someone long-term who won't commit, and how soap operas like Passions warped their brains into thinking it's okay to chase people who don't like you. Nava also shares the time she downplayed her Baha'i faith for a Southern Baptist boy who turned out to only be interested in converting her.Plus, the shocking research she uncovered at the UN about how media impacts girls of color - they are sexualized as young as 3 years old, and unchecked access to porn is normalizing violence for teenagers.Meanwhile, Nicole attempts to connect with the youths, and recounts the wild, slightly racist routine she saw at Criss Angel's Las Vegas show.Heads up: This episode contains spoilers to Netflix's You.Check out Nava's new book, Crushmore at simonandschuster.com/books/Crushmore/Penn-Badgley/9781668077993Watch this episode on our YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/@WhyWontYouDateMePodcastSupport this podcast and get discounts by checking out our sponsor:Squarespace: Head to squarespace.com/DATEME to save 10% off your first purchase of a website or domain using code DATEME.Follow:All Links: linktr.ee/whywontyoudatemeTour Dates: linktr.ee/nicolebyerwastakenYouTube: @WhyWontYouDateMePodcastTikTok: @whywontyoudatemepod Instagram: @nicolebyerX: @nicolebyerNicole's book, #VERYFAT #VERYBRAVE: indiebound.org/book/9781524850746This is a Headgum podcast. I've been sharing some thoughts about getting out of the boxes we put ourselves in. Boxes that keep us from the abundant life Jesus came to give us. Boxes that keep us from doing the good works he put us here to do. I've urged you to ask God to give you a vision of what he wants you to do and then stop making excuses. Break out of your boxes! I want to share some of the things I've learned and am learning along the way as I've stepped out of my box to follow God's leading in my life. Not all my bright ideas are God's passion for me. Some passions have a waiting period while God prepares me. Not everyone will share my passion, and some people will discount it or try to discourage me. Perseverance is a large part of pursuing my passion. Passions take lots of hard work and there are some days when I wish I'd never had a passion. (But not many!) Passions sometimes have a lifespan—a beginning and an ending—and I must be sensitive to know when it's time to move on. When one passion dies, another comes along. A God-given passion is always a joy; it is fulfilling; it is rewarding. Remember this when it comes to pursuing your passion and getting out of your box: If you don't go for it, it will fade, and you'll miss the blessing. Use it or lose it. If you don't pursue it, not only will you miss the blessing in this life, but you'll also miss the reward in eternity. And the more you pursue your passion, the more ability and gifts you will have to accomplish it. God is not going to waste talents on you if you're not going to use them. He's waiting to see if you are serious about pursuing the passion he has put inside you. For the sake of the Kingdom of Christ and the glory due to Jesus Christ, stop putting yourself in a box which prevents you from the good works God has planned for you to do. When you get out of that box, you will move into the abundant life Jesus promised for those who love him.

Hola! This is Jorge from Spanish Loops, and I'm so excited to welcome you to today's episode. This week, Fran and I are touching a topic that is a bit differentfrom our usual, but I promise it's just as fascinating. We're talking about none other than Pablo Picasso, but not just the genius artist we all know. No, today we're exploring the man behind the paintings. The real Picasso, the one with all his loves, mistresses, and complex relationships.Look, I'm sure you've heard the stories, but today we want to get into the nitty gritty. Picasso was brilliant, yes, but also an incredibly complicated person. His personal life was just as intense and dramatic as his art. From his tumultuous love affairs to his deep, almost obsessive relationships with the women in his life, he definitely didn't fit the mould of the calm, cool artist we might imagine. And here's the thing: understanding his personal life is key to understanding his art. The passions he experienced, the heartbreaks, the betrayals, the egos… it all foundits way onto the canvas. We are really excited to share this side of Picasso with you today. It's raw, it's real, and it's something that gives us a deeper look into one of history's most fascinating figures.Sit back, relax, and let's dive into the world of Picasso, the man, the artist, and everything in between. We can't wait for you to hear it!

"Fibromyalgia can take a lot from us, but it doesn't have to take everything." - Tami Stackelhouse One of the hardest parts of living with fibromyalgia is how much joy can quietly disappear from your life. Activities you used to love start feeling out of reach and even simple things like going out with friends or spending time on a hobby can feel too draining. Over time, it's easy to lose sight of what brings you happiness when most of your energy is going toward managing your pain and getting through the day. But joy is not something you "earn" once you feel better. Joy is part of what helps you feel better. It plays an essential role in calming your nervous system, lowering pain levels, and helping your body shift out of constant survival mode. When fibromyalgia makes your world smaller, joy often feels like the first thing to go, but it's actually one of the most powerful tools you have for healing. The good news is that joy doesn't need to be big or complicated. It just needs to be intentional. In this episode, Tami walks you through her Joy List exercise, a simple and meaningful practice to help you identify personal sources of joy. She talks about how fibromyalgia can lead to a loss of hobbies, work, and social connection, the emotional weight that follows these changes, the biology of joy, how dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin support pain relief and healing, three reflective questions to help you rediscover what brings happiness and meaning, practical tips for creating your Joy List, why certain activities bring joy and how to adapt them in new ways, accepting that joy may look different now and that change is part of healing, focusing on the feeling of joy rather than trying to recreate past experiences, finding new forms of joy through creativity and flexibility, six simple ways to add joy into your daily life, reframing your understanding of joy as a muscle, why reconnecting with joy is crucial for managing fibromyalgia, why now is the best time to start or revisit your personal joy list, supportive resources you can utilize on your journey of rediscovering joy, knowing when to seek help from a coach or community, and more. Remember, the parts of you that feel lost are still there, waiting for you to reach for them again. Note: This episode is not meant to be medical advice. Every person and every situation is unique. The information you learn in this episode should be shared and discussed with your own healthcare providers. To learn more about the resources mentioned in this episode, visit the show notes. Most adults stop playing long before they stop dreaming. Somewhere between deadlines and responsibilities, hobbies quietly disappear and with them, a big part of what makes life exciting. In this episode, I sit down with James Buckley — speaker, creator, and unapologetic Lord of the Rings super-fan — to talk about how geeking out can actually make you better at your job, happier at home, and more energized in life.We explore how Tolkien's world of courage, creativity, and curiosity fuels James's professional drive and why chasing passions outside of work might be the most productive thing you can do for your career. You'll hear us break down:Why hobbies aren't a distraction but oxygen for your purpose. How fandoms and passions create connection, creativity, and energy that spill into your work. Why adults stop doing what they love — and how to reignite it.What Lord of the Rings can teach us about leadership, purpose, and perseverance. If you've ever felt like you've lost that spark — the one that used to make you excited to wake up and chase something — this conversation will remind you what it means to live fully.Because when you give yourself permission to chase dreams and geek out again… work gets better, life gets lighter, and purpose becomes a lot clearer.Love This? It is easy to understand a person who is driven by their passions.Your passions take you to your happy place.I have friends who have a passion for sporting events on television. Others have a passion for gambling, and the paripatetic have a passion for traveling to all the far-flung places on this spinning rock we live upon.People who have a passion for achievement live to make things different.Planning and research puts a candle to the wick of some people. They go without sleep and burn bright throughout the night as they gather, collate, and organize information that will set the future on fire.Your scars are the memories of bitter experiences. The pain is gone, but the benefits of those experiences remain. Your scars help you see danger on the horizon.Your scars are the diplomas of lessons you will never forget. It is good to have scars. But wounds… wounds are different. The pain remains and it triggers you to act in ways that everyone notices but no one understands. Sometimes not even you.I have known men whose only passion was to seduce every woman they encountered. Those men like to believe that they are “in love with falling in love.” But when you have known them long enough you will see a knife wound in their chest that has never healed. Way back in the long ago, they had a wife who began sleeping with another man. And ever since that day, they have been trying to become that man.The pain of a wound is a powerful thing. It shouts, “Never again! Never again! Never again!”I don't believe that any of those men have ever figured out why they feel driven to become the living embodiment of the imaginary Don Juan, and I have never felt that it was my place to tell them.Every person is formed by their passions, scars, and wounds. Even imaginary people. All of the famous characters in literature were created from their passions, scars, and wounds.Novelists, playwrights, and screenwriters know this. Ad writers do not. This is why most advertising is dull, dead, and untwitching. When an ad writer is guided by the ambitions, demands, and expectations of their clients, you can expect to hear the glorious trumpets of a ringing call to action. “Come! Come now! Give me your money! Hurry! Hurry! I want your money Today! Today! Today! Act now! Don't delay!”We are not enchanted by these ads.Did it ever occur to you that every successful brand is a character that lives in the mind of the customer?A successful brand is driven by its passions, scars, and wounds.Passion: Why does this brand exist? What is it chasing? What love does it represent?Scars: What does it know? What has it learned? Why can I trust this brand?Wounds: What is this brand trying to erase from the earth? To what does it shout, “Never again! Never again! Never again!”Roy H. Williams

Love to hear from you; “Send us a Text Message”What if the ache you feel isn't a flaw to fix but a fire to aim? We open with the shocking power of eros—the sudden arrest of beauty, the pulse of attraction—and follow it to its true end: a life of self-gift that can heal hearts, families, and even a nation fraying at the seams. The story moves from a teenage moment of reverent awe to the Cross itself, where God's desire for us becomes agape: “This is my body, given for you.”Along the way, we tackle why so many feel anxious and untethered. Cut off from God, desire gets hijacked by porn, politics, and consumerism. Freedom without virtue collapses into manipulation, and culture drifts between corrupt elites and coercive ideologies. James 4:1-10 1 1 What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions are at war within you? 2 You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. 3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions. 4 You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. 5 Or do you suppose it is to no purpose that the Scripture says, “He yearns jealously over the spirit that he has made to dwell in us”? 6 But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.

Ryan launches a multi-part series, Twisted Passions, addressing homosexuality and same-sex attraction from a biblical framework. He establishes why pastors should clearly preach what Scripture says while also equipping the church to counsel and care for strugglers, and he outlines upcoming topics: Is this sin “different,” are people “born this way,” and how do we raise kids in a sexualized culture? The aim is clarity, compassion, and confident hope in Christ for real victory.Topics DiscussedWhy churches must preach plainly on homosexuality (OT & NT texts)Common progressive rebuttals and why they don't hold up biblically (e.g., “love = affirmation,” misuse of John 8)Word study: ἀρσενοκοίτης and Paul's clarity in 1 Cor 6 / 1 Tim 1Beyond the pulpit: moving from denunciation to discipleship and counseling in the local churchShepherding kids in a perverted culture; building a proactive family planInviting listener questions/testimonies for future episodesKey TakeawaysScripture speaks clearly; pastors should, too—without hatred or compromise.“Love the sinner; hate the sin” isn't a cliché—Jesus says, “Go and sin no more.”Paul's terminology intentionally names male-with-male practice; it isn't vague.Churches must pair clear preaching with hands-on help for real people.Parents need an intentional, early plan to disciple children amid cultural lies.Ready to download the Cord App? Pastor Dave Bondeson unpacks Genesis 3 in this message, "Known and Unashamed," revealing the forces that damage our relationships. He identifies two key enemies: our internal sin nature and the external influence of Satan. Using Genesis 3:1-13, Pastor Dave examines how Satan undermines our trust in God's goodness by twisting God's word and inflaming our desires, causing us to prioritize our wants over our relationships. He cautions against detachment and blame-shifting, urging listeners to draw a circle around themselves and work on what's within their control. Discover how surrendering to Jesus Christ is the only path to true restoration and authentic connection, empowering us to overcome sin and move towards others in love.

Chapter 2.1 of the Second London Baptist Confession of Faith (1689) tells us; “The Lord our God is but ‘one only living and true God; whose subsistence is in and of himself, infinite in being and perfection; whose essence cannot be comprehended by any but himself; “a most pure spirit, invisible, without body, parts, or passions…”This term ‘passions' does not mean the Lord is emotionless; but rather, that He is unmoved by external forces to change his mind. Today, with the help of Dr. Samuel Renihan, we seek to articulate an often neglected concept, the Doctrine of ‘Divine Impassibility'. David Clancy is a world-class sports physio and author who's taken more than a few sharp turns in his career. He's had to face the same questions many of us wrestle with: Do I stay in the safe lane or risk starting over? How do I manage different passions without spreading myself too thin? What do I do with that voice in my head telling me I don't belong? In this episode, David and I dig into the practical side of career pivots and personal growth, including: •The real reasons people avoid changing direction—even when they know they're unhappy. •How to make a career shift without blowing up everything you've built. •Why imposter phenomenon can be a sign you're on the right track, and how to keep it from paralyzing you. •The challenge of chasing multiple passions and what filters help you decide what's worth pursuing. •How relationships—not networking, but genuine ones—end up making or breaking your next move. •The skill of listening, and why it matters more than being the smartest person in the room. This isn't theory. It's a conversation packed with examples you can relate to if you've ever thought about pivoting, felt stuck in a role you've outgrown, or struggled with the noise of self-doubt.
