Pause to take a moment to focus on God and worship, with music and poetry inspired by Psalm 65. Music composed by Andy Hunter and Poetry written by Rachel Hall
This months theme is inspired by Psalm 1 where it talks about our delight being in the word of God, and chewing on that - letting that fill are minds. It also paints a wonderful image of us being like a tree planted by streams of water bringing life, fruit and a leaf that does not wither.
I thought I would make a seamless mix of Presence Volume 1 with the poetry woven throughout. So put on your headphones, sit back, relax, and take an hour to listen to volume one in its entirety. As it was meant to be:-)
I've been thinking lately about Psalm 23 - The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. Today let's take a moment, take a deep breath, pause and be in his presence with music and poetry written by Jessica Cotten
Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See I am doing a new thing! Now springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making away in the wildness and streams in the wasteland. Isaiah 43:18-19
In Colossians it talks about that no matter how broken we are there is room for everyone and that everything finds its proper place in God. That's Amazing! So as we listen to the music and poem, let's enter God's house and lie everything before him through our confessions & prayers and let God speak to us today.
In Psalm chapter 42 it talks about Gods love being like a roar of a waterfall or like waves sweeping over us knocking us off our feet and being swept along with his currents. There is a challenge there, are we willing to let go and to give everything over to God, to jump in and let him take us where he wants us to go?
Sensing grace was the first chapter that I ever created for the presence project. The verse from Matthew chapter 6 sums up what this project is about, finding a quiet secluded place and being there as simply and as honestly as you can before God. It's in these special moments that I get a sense of who God is, it brings me peace and stillness that is good for my soul.
Rest is important to our well-being that we need to stop occasionally because that is what brings us strength & rest, even God rested! As we spend time out today just switch off and let the music wash over you, listen to the poetry and let it speak and inspire you, use the time to think about some of the areas in your life where you need to take real rest.
Psalm 46:10 it says Be Still and Know that I am God. A lot of our times we set aside to pray are filled with requests for God to do things for us, it's almost like a shopping list. But here in the Psalm it's saying to be still and know that he is God. So Today as we listen to the music & poetry inspired by this Psalm let's just take the time to be still, no list of requests, no agenda and just know that God is God.
In Psalm 27: 4 David asks and seeks one thing and that is to be in God's presence gazing, eyes fixed on the beauty of God. Just imagine staring at something so beautiful that you can't take your eyes of it. Today as we listen to the music & poetry inspired by this Psalm let's ask the question that David did. "One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple."
Home for a lot of people is a place of safety. To feel at home is to feel relaxed, stress free, a place where we can just be ourselves and be loved and accepted. Although it does have it's challenges especially as now I am trying to home school, that's certainly not stress free! For others sadly home represents something a lot worse, the totally opposite to what I have been talking about - I just can't imagine what they must be going through at this time. In Psalm 91 verses 1 to 2 it talks about God being our refuge and our fortress. Today as we listen to the music & poetry inspired by this notion of God being our security spend time praying, giving your worries & concerns over to God and just sit and be still in his presence. Also being mindful of the people where their home isn't a refuge and a place of safety.
In John chapter 11, Jesus talks about being the truth and the resurrection, that it's in him we have promise and hope Spend time today focusing on Jesus and let promise & Hope permeate into your life bringing a sense of happiness & Joy - We could all do with a bit of that right now couldn't we?
This Episode was inspired by a poem written by Martin Wroe called Hands. In his poem there's a line that says 'On the ends of your arms are the hands of God.' With poetry written by Martin Wroe & read by Chris Matthews and music composed by Andy Hunter
God calls us to love like he does, in Ephesians 5 it talks about keeping company with God and learning a life of love. Observing how Jesus loved us and telling us to love like that. Inspired by this message the poetry is written & read by Chris Matthews and the music composed by Andy Hunter.
In Matthew 5 it talks about us being the light bringing out the God-colours in the world. At this time we are called to be light bearers, keeping our lives open to helping others and being generous. Obviously we are socially distancing ourselves from each other because of whats happening in the world right now but that doesn't mean people have to be alone. We need to come up with creative ways to shine God's light. Let's get creative and think how we can do that in our community.
When you have hope it brings a positive outlook on life, it's like a chink of light through a crack. It's something to head towards, a sense of movement, a forward motion. You find strength in hope, a determination to keep pushing on.We find hope in God the brightest light there is. We need to let that light direct us and we need to push, move towards him at this time. This episode is inspired by a verse from Psalm 40 where the poetry is written & read by Chris Matthews, the music by Andy Hunter.
