Chana Arberman er 97 år gammel og bor i Trondheim. Hun overlevde Holocaust i Bergen-Belsen. Chana mistet ca. 50 av sine nærmeste i Auschwitz. Hun savner sine foreldre den dag i dag, og de dukker fortsatt opp i drømmene hennes. Hun måtte gå dødsmarsjen i 44 dager, uten mat og klær, og ante ikke hvordan hun klarte å overleve. Hos tyskerne fikk de servert supper med såpebiter i, da de var ferdige. – Har du noen tanker om hva vi kan gjøre for å stoppe antisemittisme og hat, spør jeg henne."Vi kan ikke gjøre mer, jeg synes vi gjør nok", svarer hun."Det finnes ikke noe viktigere enn Israel for jødene", sier Chana.***Denne programserien heter Jødiske Stemmer, og er støttet av Stiftelsen Fritt Ord. Jan Benjamin Rødner er advokat og en sentral skikkelse i organisasjonen Med Israel for fred (MIFF). Han var organisasjonens første styreleder fra 1978 og er fortsatt aktiv som nestleder i MIFFs hovedstyre. Rødner har vært engasjert i å fremme Israel-vennlig politikk i Norge i flere tiår, og han deler ofte sine innsikter om Israels situasjon, mediedekningen av Israel, internasjonal politikk og juridiske aspekter ved konflikten i Midtøsten. Hans bakgrunn kombinerer juridisk ekspertise med et langvarig engasjement for fredsarbeid og menneskerettigheter i konflikten mellom Israel og Palestina. Han har holdt foredrag og deltatt i paneldebatter om disse temaene, og han har også erfaring med ytringsfrihet og sensurspørsmål i Norge. Eytan Halon er chargé d'affaires, a.i. ved Israels ambassade i Oslo. Han tiltrådte stillingen i august 2025 og representerer staten Israel i Norge og Island.Tidligere var Halon visegeneralkonsul for staten Israel i Shanghai, Kina, fra 2022 til 2025.Før han begynte i Utenriksdepartementet i 2021, arbeidet han som internasjonal talsperson for Tel Aviv kommune og som næringslivsjournalist i avisen The Jerusalem Post.Halon har en bachelorgrad i jus med fransk fra University of Birmingham i Storbritannia og en mastergrad i internasjonale relasjoner fra Tel Aviv University.I dag snakker vi om den nye fredsavtalen, hjemkomsten til de israelske gislene, hmas, norske medier, og palestina-aktivister i Norge som nå er svært stille når sivile palestinere blir drept på gaza av hmas. Last week, we were reminded not to rely on the naked eye—to see beyond what is visible and to trust in the unseen work of God. This week, we took that phrase even deeper: What does it actually mean to live that way? How do we trust what we can't see? It's easy to say, “Don't rely on the naked eye,” but it's much harder to live it out when life gets confusing, intimidating, or painful. Yet this is exactly what God invites us into—a life of deeper trust, beyond our understanding. Trust in the Lord with All Your Heart In Proverbs 3:1–12, we are told, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” In other words, stop relying on what your eyes see or your mind can explain. God's wisdom goes beyond ours, and sometimes learning to lean on Him is not just hard work—it's heart work. There are moments when we realise we're on the wrong track. God's grace steps in, redirects us, and sets us back on course. When we stop depending on what we can see and instead rely on His wisdom, He aligns our path with His perfect plan. The Power of Shared Trust In 2 Kings 6:8–23, we see Elisha surrounded by an enemy army. His servant panics, seeing only danger, but Elisha—seeing through spiritual eyes—declares, “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” Elisha's complete trust in God becomes contagious. His faith builds faith in another. When we live out trust, we multiply courage in others. And when God moves, He often does so through grace and kindness, just as Elisha chose mercy over vengeance. The Lord Is on the Throne In Psalm 11, David wrestles with fear and uncertainty but then makes a powerful declaration: “The Lord is in His holy temple; the Lord is on His heavenly throne.” When we can't make sense of our circumstances, this truth anchors us—God is still on the throne. He is in control, even when everything around us feels unstable. So rather than holding our breath and hoping things will change, God calls us to exhale in His presence. To stop panicking. To pause in the pain and be still. Be Still and Know Psalm 46:10 reminds us: “Be still, and know that I am God.” This is how we learn to trust beyond what we see. This is how we become people God can trust with His plans—for our community, our families, and the lives He's calling us to impact. When we stop relying on the naked eye and start trusting the unseen hand of God, we begin to live from a place of peace, not panic. We start to see the invisible work of grace unfolding all around us. Final Thought Don't rely on the naked eye. Pause. Pray. Trust. Let the One on the throne guide your steps.

Livestreams with Gwen are back! This week's livestream topic was to be about the fact that we are living in two worlds - longing to live in the past while dealing with our messy lives in the present. I talk about my struggles of missing Andy while trying to be the happy mother-of-the-groom at Valeriano's recent wedding. This conversation quickly morphed into another topic. Respite. First, is it OK to take a break from your grief? And second - where do I find respite when I need a break from my grief? My answers - First - YES! And Second - walks outside in the sunshine, riding in our boat, listening to birds while on my deck, listening to music, reading a good book, and playing board games with family or friends. The most important point is this. It is OK (and actually GOOD) to take a break from your grief. Many grieving parents feel like they need to feel their grief all the time. Every book they read is about grief. Every podcast they listen to is about grief. Days are filled with therapy and support groups. While all of these things are great, breaks are needed. Our bodies and minds cannot handle the constant pain of grief. I remember in those early days feeling like I needed to feel the pain constantly. If I started to laugh or even smile, I would remind myself that Andy was dead, and the smile would disappear. As the seven-year anniversary approaches next week, I feel the heaviness begin to worsen again, but I have learned that the best way to get through these difficult days is to take some time away from the pain as well. I will have intentional times with my family to talk about and remember Andy. There is an upcoming 5K race where 25 of my co-workers will be wearing Be Still bracelets as they run to support our local FitKids program. But there will also be time for me to have respite. I will spend time reading a book and listening to birds outside on my deck. I will play golf and go boating. Hopefully, I will be able to convince my family to play a board game with me. Finding this balance is what gives me the strength to continue on each day.
