Nurse leader, You gave everything today. Now it's time to give it to God. If you're listening to this on your commute home — in your car, on the train, walking to your front door — this episode was made for this exact moment. You just survived a shift that had no business being that hard. You were in charge. The floor was chaos. There was a patient loss, coworker conflict, impossible decisions made in seconds, and nurses running on empty. And somehow, you were the one holding it all together. Your body is exhausted. Your nervous system is still activated. And if you go to sleep without releasing what you absorbed today, you'll carry it into tomorrow — because the body keeps the score. In this Breathe & Be Still episode, we do something simple and sacred: we release it all through guided breath prayer — and receive the peace God promises in return. In this episode, you'll: Move through a 3-minute guided breath prayer rooted in Philippians 4:6-7 Learn why releasing post-shift emotions isn't weakness — it's nervous system wisdom and biblical obedience Discover the difference between true shalom and just "being tired" Stop the rumination loop so your mind and body can actually restore overnight This episode is for you if: You're a nurse, charge nurse, or nurse leader coming off a hard shift You struggle to "turn off" your brain after work You've experienced patient loss, compassion fatigue, or secondary trauma You're a faith-based nurse looking for a spiritual practice that actually fits your life You want to protect your peace without toxic positivity or empty self-care advice Scripture Featured:

Både Henrik og Arina deler en bekymring for remigrasjon og den politiske retorikken som omgir innvandrere, og påpeker viktigheten av å se individer fremfor grupper. Samtalen berører også hvordan religion kan bli misbrukt som et verktøy for sosial kontroll og hvordan muslimer ofte blir stigmatisert på grunn av handlingene til ekstremister. Be Still and Know 05/31/26 Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. — Matthew 11:28 NLT As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love. — Ephesians 4:15–16 NLT To be anxious is to live with uneasiness of mind and restlessness of soul, carrying a brooding fear about some part of life—or about life in general. To form a non-anxious presence in us is to invite the Holy Spirit to deepen our trust in God's unfailing love and to teach us how to rest in His goodness, faithfulness, and strength. Don't worry about the wicked or envy those who do wrong. For like grass, they soon fade away. Like spring flowers, they soon wither. Trust in the Lord and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper. Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart's desires. Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you. He will make your innocence radiate like the dawn, and the justice of your cause will shine like the noonday sun. Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. — Psalm 37:1–7a NLT Be still in the presence of the Lord… — Psalm 37:7a NLT …fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. — Philippians 4:8 NLT I will meditate on your precepts and fix my eyes on your ways. — Psalm 119:15 ESV Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world. — Psalm 46:10 NLT The Lord of Heaven's Armies is here among us; the God of Israel is our fortress. — Psalm 46:11 NLT Be still and know that I am GOD Be still and know that I AM Be still and KNOW Be STILL BE During the meditation time show all this text on 1 slide, formatted the way it is below: Be still and know that I am GOD Be still and know that I AM Be still and KNOW Be STILL BE For the “connect with each other time” have this on 1 slide: Tell someone about… …a time someone planned a surprise for you and how you reacted. …one situation where you are most likely to procrastinate. …one way you measure contentment in your life. …one thing that makes it difficult for you to “be still before the Lord.” …the word or phrase that stood out to you as we reflected on “Be still and know that I am God.”

In this wide ranging conversation, we explore some of the unique conditions that leave entrepreneurs potentially vulnerable to mental health struggles and how we deal with those ourselves. We dig into vulnerability and how it shows up for us as both a challenge and an opportunity. We talk about our own challenges with giving and receiving support and how tricky it can be to build community even with the closest of friends. We end with a few of the many resources that we have found to be hugely helpful for us both, the links as promised are below. Learning to Be Still with God Psalm 46:10 “He says, 'Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” This is no small feat.  “Be still and know that I am God.”  How difficult is it to be still?  I can't be the only person who struggles to just be still.  It seems like everything I listen to is talking about how important mediation is.  How much better you will feel if you meditate each morning before starting your day.  Have any of you tried this?  Have you ever just tried to sit there and not think of anything?  When I do this, I feel like my brain is a two-year-old child.  You know how you tell a child to do something, and they want to do anything other than that thing?  That is what my brain is like.  When I tell my brain that we are going to be still and not think of anything, it wants to do everything but that.   I will start to think of things I never thought of.  My brain will start making a grocery list, it will recite a song I haven't heard in 20 years, and question why I said that thing to that person three weeks ago.  It does everything except be quiet and not think of anything.  Has that ever happened to you?  Have you ever tried to quiet your mind and just sit with the Lord? The other day, at a discernment meeting, we were reviewing the words from our prayer group.  At least three separate words were given that talked about how important it is to just sit and be silent with the Lord.  That meeting was on a Wednesday, and now this verse comes up: “Be still and know that I am God.”  I think God wants me to talk about being still.  I think He really wants us to get the message.   Here is one of the words that was given at the prayer group. “My children, take time to listen to me.  Listen deeply, it is my time.  When you listen, I can help you, I can heal you.  I can enrich you through my presence.  But it is in silence that I speak to you in a new and better way.  But you must take the time, ever take the time to listen to my words, to let them absorb deeply, absorb them deeply into your being so that you will know how to proceed, so that you may know how to act upon the words that I tell you.  Be joyful that I speak to you.  Take the time to listen.”   Did you catch that?  God is telling us that when we take the time to listen to Him, He can help, heal, and enrich us.  How much do we need healing?  I feel like the whole world needs healing right now.  How great would it be for God to enrich us?  Could you use a little enrichment in your life?  I wonder how many of us take the time to listen?  How many of us set aside a part of our days to just sit and listen?  God says that it is in this silence that he talks to us in a new and better way.  How great would that be?  I am definitely on board for having my Heavenly Father talk to me in a new and better way.  I want to hear what He says and absorb His words deeply.  Who wouldn't want God's words to direct their way?   Who wouldn't want Him to help them know how to act? All of that sounds amazing.  Then I remember that I struggle to sit and be quiet.  God is asking us to listen, but what do we do when we can't listen, when we can't seem to quiet our minds? Then what do we do?  Do we miss out on all God has to say?  Do we miss out on his direction?  If He comes to us in the silence and heals us, then what happens when we don't make the time to be silent?  As I said earlier, this same word was given in at least three different ways in this one month.  I have no doubt that God can heal us anytime, anywhere.  He doesn't need anything from us to do His thing.  And yet, He took the time to give this message three different times.  I don't think He would have done this if it was not important.  So, what can we do with this message?   I think it is important to learn to be silent and to listen for His Word.  If your Heavenly Father tells you to do something, you do it.  Doing new things is hard.  Developing new habits is hard, and yet they are always worth it in the end.  There are many ways that you can learn to be silent and listen to the Lord.  I talked about one already.  You can sit still and try to clear your mind.  When something comes up that distracts you, just acknowledge it and try to clear your mind again.  You could start small.  Maybe just take 5 minutes a day and sit in silence.  You don't have to do anything.  It sounds like God just wants you to be available.   I think I get stuck because I am sitting there trying to quiet my mind and expecting to hear God's voice.  That is not really how it works, or at least hasn't worked that way for me.  It's not usually a voice its usually a thought that comes into my mind.   For instance, at the prayer group, I will tell the Lord that I am available if He wants to share anything with me.  Then a thought will come into my mind, and I will share it.  I don't question it. I told the Lord I was available, and so I trust that what comes to mind is something He wants shared.   Another way you could be silent and listen for God's word is to ask the Lord to speak through your pen, then sit quietly and write down whatever thoughts come to mind.  This is a particularly good way to quiet your mind and listen when you struggle to just sit still.  This helps keep you from distractions a little more because you are busy writing whatever comes to mind.  When I do this, I do not question what I am thinking; I just write it all down.  Again, I have asked God to talk through my pen, and I trust He is doing just that.   A really powerful way to sit with the Lord and quiet your mind is to go to Eucharistic Adoration.  This is when you are sitting in the presence of the Lord and quieting your mind.  If you have not tried this before, I suggest you give it a try.  It is such an amazing feeling.  Another helpful thing when you are trying to learn to quiet your mind and listen is to enter it with fewer expectations.  The only expectation necessary is that God will show up.  The rest of our expectations can actually get in the way of our experience.  If we expect that we will hear God's voice, that He will speak to us in our thoughts, or that we will feel His presence, we may be disappointed.  God said that it is in the silence that He heals us.  This can be physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, or other forms of healing.  He also said He speaks to us in a new and better way.   Sometimes you may take the time to listen, and you don't feel anything happen.  You don't hear any words, get any new thoughts, or feel any healing.  You feel exactly the same as you did before you sat still with the Lord for 5 minutes.  This is totally normal.  Please don't worry that you did something wrong.  Trust that if you gave God the time, He showed up and did His thing.  The more you take the time to show up for God and quiet your mind, the more He will show up in that time.  You won't always feel it when He is healing you.  He may not always have something to say, but the more you practice listening, the better you will become at hearing Him.  Can you take 5 minutes today and quiet your mind and give God the space He wants to enter in and heal you? Dear Heavenly Father, I ask that you bless all those listening to this episode today.  We ask that you help us to quiet our minds and listen to you, Lord.  We ask that you help us figure out how to make you a priority.  Help us set aside some time every day to quietly listen to you.  Help us to give you that time in silence so that you can enter in and heal us, oh Lord.  Lord Jesus, you are so amazing, and we are so grateful for all that you do.  We love you so much, and we ask all of this in accordance with your will and in Jesus' holy name, Amen! Thank you so much for joining me on this journey to walk boldly with Jesus. If you know someone who feels far from God or unsure where to start, this episode might be exactly what they need. Send me a Text Message! Are we owning our rubble? That's the question that will end this episode. Remember the BLESS acronymn that gives us some rebuilding, story-writing, principles? B is for "Be Still." L is "Look for the rubble." Nehemiah allows his heart to be saturated by the brokenness of people and causes. He looked for the rubble. But he didn't just look for it. He owned it. And owning it led to a turn of the page. We live a culture that has a hard time seeing our own rubble. We can see it in others, the other side, the other team, the other person. But when I see it in me, when I own it, that leads to breakthrough. So are you owning your rubble?

What role does music play in helping us feel closer to God and find peace in our everyday lives? In this week's episode of Latter-Day Lights, we sit down with pianist, musical arranger, and father, Michael Boyd, whose lifelong love for music has become a powerful way to invite the Spirit into his heart, and strengthen his faith. From his early experiences in learning piano, to developing a deep appreciation for hymns during his mission, Michael shares how music has shaped not only his talents, but his testimony. His stories—including unforgettable moments like meeting Gladys Knight, and witnessing the impact of sacred music on others—highlight how God can use our gifts in unexpected and meaningful ways.Michael also opens up about creating his hymn arrangement album, “Be Still, My Soul,” blending musical creativity with spiritual inspiration to bring listeners a deeper sense of peace and connection. He shares how he thoughtfully weaves together multiple melodies—sometimes combining hymns, as seen in his mashup of “Kingsfold” and “I Need Thee Every Hour”—to deepen the emotional and spiritual impact of each piece. Through personal experiences, family life, and solemn moments at the piano, he reflects on how intentional, uplifting music can transform the atmosphere in our homes and hearts—reminding us that some of the most powerful expressions of faith are felt, not just spoken.*** Please SHARE Michael's story and help us spread hope and light to others. ***To WATCH this episode on YouTube, visit: https://youtu.be/tSRNdHcQots-----To LISTEN to Michael's first album, “Be Still, My Soul,” visit: https://open.spotify.com/album/0HhZ9Emk4oCHJ0xhjQumNz?si=7XOec_jKRV-3Neo0wDyn1QTo LISTEN to Michael's track, “Kingsfold and I Need Thee Every Hour,” visit: https://open.spotify.com/track/7afUlL6qjBDbc9cYzaxiUY?si=4c3d23d7ceec4048To READ Michael's free sheet music, visit: https://specialmusicalnumbers.com/To FOLLOW Michael on Spotify, visit: https://open.spotify.com/artist/3NLcup1JpD4nmP3HvSIVA6To FOLLOW Michael on Apple Music, visit: https://music.apple.com/us/artist/w-michael-boyd/1843900046To FOLLOW Michael on Amazon Music, visit: https://music.amazon.com/artists/B0FV3D7PQP/w-michael-boydTo FOLLOW Michael on Deezer, visit: https://www.deezer.com/us/artist/349661021To FOLLOW Michael on YouTube Music, visit: https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_kPwJ_Y8FkCbbkvYNV3gWgI3uAO3DljuwsTo LISTEN to “His Hands” by Kenneth Cope, visit: https://open.spotify.com/track/4sumBgc7QuvrVHA4bdZXsq?si=60e30cea674d43b9-----To READ Scott's new book “Faith to Stay” for free, visit: https://www.faithtostay.com/-----Keep updated with us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/latter.day.lights/Follow us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/latterdaylightsIf you have a faith-promoting or inspiring story, or know someone who does, please let us know at https://www.latterdaylights.com

In this meditation of our Lenten series, I AM: A Lenten Journey with Jesus, we reflect on one of Jesus’s most powerful declarations in John 11:21–27: “I am the resurrection and the life.” Jesus speaks these words to Martha in the middle of grief. Her brother Lazarus has died. The loss is real. The disappointment is honest. She tells Jesus what many of us have felt: “Lord, if only you had been here…” Into that place of sorrow and confusion, Jesus does not offer an explanation. He offers Himself. He does not merely promise resurrection someday. He declares that He is resurrection. He is life. This is the heart of the gospel. Death does not have the final word. Sin does not have the final word. Despair does not have the final word. In this guided Scripture meditation, you are invited to identify where you need Jesus to be resurrection and life in your own story. Through slow readings of John 11:21–27, you’ll be guided to reflect, respond honestly, and renew your hope in His promise. The story of Lazarus ultimately ends with life walking out of the tomb. But even before the miracle, Jesus gives Martha something just as powerful: a question. “Do you believe this?” Resurrection hope begins with trust. Inspired by a reflective moment while sitting by the ocean, he shares how clarity and creativity rarely come from constant effort alone. Driven people are wired to work hard and push forward, but the best ideas often arrive when we step away long enough for our minds and souls to catch up.Gino reframes Discipline 2: Take Time Off as something even more powerful. When we intentionally create space, we open ourselves to insights, perspectives, and unexpected breakthroughs. He shares practical ways to do this, including meditation and journaling through Discipline 4: Be Still, clarity breaks, vacations, mini pauses during the day, and other simple moments that quiet the mind. In this expansive episode of Hidden Wisdom, Meghan Farner is joined by returning guest Phil McLemore for a deep, practical teaching on meditation as the highest form of prayer. Phil presents meditation as an ancient practice of awareness, union with God, and transformation.Together, they explore the difference between mindfulness and transcendental (yoga) meditation, why stillness is essential for spiritual perception, and how meditation aligns with Jesus' own teachings on prayer, the inner kingdom, and becoming “one” with God. Phil offers step-by-step guidance on posture, breath, mantra, handling distractions, and receiving meditation as a feminine, receptive flow of grace rather than a forced effort. This episode also addresses common fears around meditation, ego resistance, spiritual ego, emotional release, and discernment—grounding the practice firmly in Christ-centered theology, embodiment, and character transformation. For anyone seeking a deeper experience of God, inner healing, and true at-one-ment, this episode serves as both teaching and invitation.00:00 | Introduction & why meditation matters for spiritual growth03:00 | Phil's background & discovering meditation through pain06:10 | Meditation as prayer, not self-improvement07:20 | God in the present moment & spiritual awareness09:00 | Mindfulness vs transcendental (God-centered) meditation12:50 | Jesus' model of prayer & the Aramaic meaning of “pray”16:30 | Awareness of awareness & inner stillness19:00 | Yoga, atonement, and union with God23:00 | Still mind, pure heart, and scriptural foundations29:40 | Preparing for meditation: time, place, posture34:00 | Harmonizing the body & devotional intent43:10 | “Don't pray to God—pray in God”46:20 | Breath as the gateway to Spirit52:35 | Diaphragmatic breathing & nervous system safety56:00 | Mantra meditation & examples (“Be Still,” “Peace, Be Still”)01:05:30 | Handling intrusive thoughts & ego resistance01:11:50 | Concentration vs meditation: receiving grace01:15:40 | Oneness, transformation, and Christ-consciousness01:23:30 | Obstacles, emotional release, and patience01:31:30 | Discernment, symbolism, and avoiding spiritual ego01:33:30 | Character transformation as the true fruit01:37:15 | Closing reflections & invitation to practice Join the Contemplative Prayer + Meditation Q&A with Meghan and Phil McLemore, on February 16th at 7pm MT.
