Danielle Haas er redaktør og journalist som arbeidet som seniorredaktør i Human Rights Watch fra 2009 til 2023. Tidligere underviste hun ved Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism, og som Jerusalem-basert korrespondent for Reuters, Associated Press og San Francisco Chronicle rapporterte hun om den israelsk-palestinske konflikten – blant annet fra Vestbredden og Gaza – samt fra Irak etter den amerikanske invasjonen.I senere år har hun blitt en ledende stemme for reform innen menneskerettighetssektoren. Hun hevder at feltet har mistet både nøytralitet og troverdighet. Med et sjeldent innsideperspektiv på utfordringene i store menneskerettighetsorganisasjoner, argumenterer hun for en ny tilnærming – «Menneskerettigheter 2.0» – basert på kjerneverdier, ansvarlighet og universalisme.Dr. Yariv Mohar er sosiolog med spesialisering i kollektiv handling i sivilsamfunnet, politisk vold og terrorisme. Han er også medleder for Initiative for National Security and Human Rights. Med bakgrunn fra både akademia og aktivisme har Mohar blitt en fremtredende stemme som utfordrer selektivt raseri og ideologisk skjevhet innen menneskerettighetsmiljøet.I sine nyere skrifter argumenterer han for en rettighetstenkning som kombinerer medfølelse med realisme, forsvarer sivile på alle sider og avviser avhumanisering. Mohar leder også Pro-Human Campaign, en global koalisjon mot avhumanisering av både palestinere, israelere, muslimer og jøder. Ja, det er viktig å ikke bruke antisemittisme-begrepet uvilkårlig, for da blir det utvannet. Men det er også viktig å ikke bruket begrepet for sjeldent, for da mister det mening. I Norge har vi den interessante situasjonen at vi har en god del antisemittisme, men ingen antisemitter. Hvorfor det?Av en eller annen grunn så er det i den norske offentligheten skyhøye kriterier for når noen kan kalles en antisemitt. Det er nærmest en uoppnåelig skranke. Men det er ikke slik når det gjelder rasisme. Det sitter ikke like langt inne å si at noen er rasist i norsk offentlighet. Ei heller å tro på en mørkhudet person som forteller om at han/hun opplever rasisme. Men, hvis en jøde opplever noe som antisemittisk, så betviles det ofte. Da ligger problemet gjerne hos den som opplever antisemittismen, ikke hos den som utøver den. Kanskje vi kan begynne å tro på jøder når de opplever antisemittisme? Istedet for å betvile mottakeren? Høre på den som kjenner skoen trykker? Det vi også kan gjøre, om vi ikke ønsker å stemple noen som antisemitt – som person, det er at vi kan sette fingeren på når noen oppfører seg på en antisemittisk måte. Når noen agerer ut mekanismen antisemittisme;For antisemittisme handler ikke bare om å kalle en jødisk person for en "jævla jøde". Antisemittisme er selve grunntonen, og mekanismen bak valgene og handlingene en person foretar seg. Ofte er den kanskje ubevisst. Som f.eks er det lettere å demonisere jøder enn andre folk. Det er lettere å tro på konspirasjoner om jøder, det er lettere å tro på løgner om Israel; det er mer nærliggende å tro at jøder er blodtørstige og dreper sivile for gleden av å drepe. Løgner, myter, forestillinger om jøder er mer nærliggende å akseptere. Det er lettere å krevet Oljefondet ut av Caterpillar når IDF bruker disse gravemaskinene, men det er ikke så nøye når Hamas bruker akkurat de samme gravemaskinene for å storme inn over grensen til Israel og slakte ned kvinner og barn på det mest barbariske og brutale vis. Det feier vi under teppet. Antisemittisme er det som gjør at arrangementansvarlig for Krystallnatten hos Antirasistisk Senter skriver at Israel er opphavet til samtlige massakre verden rundt, fra Sudan til Syria, fra Libanon til Gaza. Og antisemittismen er grunnen til blodsanklagene om at jøder dreper barn, og bruker deres blod til å bake Matza til Pesach. Antisemittismen er grunnlaget som allerede ligger der, når jødehatet utøves. Det er sporene som er tråkket opp av så mange generasjoner før oss. Og den antisemittiske preppemaskinen har pløyet opp løyper i Europa og Vesten i flere hundre år. Dette er ikke noe nytt. Men vi må se antisemittisme ikke bare som selve utøvelsen av hat; å kalle noen "jævla jøde", eller å gå til angrep på en som bærer et Israelsk flagg. Dette er jo bare siste delen av eskaleringstrappen. Antisemittisme er det som ligger der før alt dette. Det som får deg til å tenke slik du gjør. Det som får samfunn til å begynne å hate, som får enkeltindivider til å frese og fråde når de hører om jøder eller ser et Israelsk flagg i en vinduskarm på Sørlandet, og går til angrep på hele huset. Det som får et helt samfunn til å pulsere av mørke, som får retorikken til å bli helt vindskeiv, og vridd mot jøder og alt Israelsk. Vi må se det for hva det er. Carlo ble sparket og slått av to menn i Sarpsborg i går, fordi han var på markering for Krystallnatten og bar på et Israelsk flagg. De truet ham med kniv, kalte ham for barnemorder og folkemorder. Heldigvis var Carlo sammen med en gruppe på 8-10 personer som tok bilder av angriperne, og hjalp ham. Hvis ikke så kunne det gått riktig galt. Caregiving often hides what I call smoldering rage—resentment that simmers quietly until a fresh crisis ignites it like a wildfire.
