I mentioned at one point that I wanted to get back to Michael. I spent so much time obsessing over Prince in 2016 that I wanted to make sure that I made the time at some point to remember all the great things the King of Pop brought into my life. Victory Jumpoff Studios 5.0 is up and running so that heralds the return of Victory Jumpoff Radio! In this edition, I unveil the new format! Instead of your previous jam packed 25 song episodes, I've now trimmed it down to a much more digestible 14. And to help me kick off the new VJR era, I have none other than Aaliyah and Michael. Since the 11th anniversary of Aaliyah's passing was just the 25th and MJ's 54th birthday is the 29th (I get it all wrong on the episode, sorry), I give you 7 songs each from both of these amazing artists. While nothing could top my birthday tribute to Mike last year, I think this still serves his and Aaliyah's memories well.

After knocking out 5 straight episodes in an orderly fashion, a short week break turned into a 2 month hiatus. And unfortunately, another hiatus is coming up as I'm moving and won't have any of my equipment set up again until early June. But before then, let's celebrate the final recording of Victory Jumpoff Studios 4.0 with what I like to call Regular Ol' Show. I picked 25 songs out of my massive library and went with it. I'd like to introduce you to Joe. Joe is just a guy from New Jersey. He once had a deal with Def Jam Records and a hit song with Just Blaze. But Joe's album didn't sell well so Def Jam kept him on the shelf for 4 years. In that time, Joe started a mixtape series called Mood Muzik. This series made Joe a legend. The underdog who always stood up for what he believed in, right or wrong. Joe used to call himself Jumpoff Joe Budden. That's Joe saying “Jumpoff” in the Dirty Hun Victory Jumpoff Radio drops. I'm a big fan of Joe's. And you should be too.

In this week's episode of Victory Jumpoff Radio, I shift the focus to an artist that's from right here in West Virginia, 6'6 240! While 6's career began with the 304 Reconz in the late 90's, it was when he began putting out solo material that I discovered his music. In this show, I give you just a small portion of his catalog as I roll out songs from obscure mixtapes through each of his three solo albums. So I invite you to experience something new, something old, and something dope as we celebrate my friend 6'6 240!

I really wish I didn't have to do this show. At least not like this. I had a whole other idea on how to approach VJR Show #8 but fate, being the mean bitch that she is, intervened. Whitney Houston passed away on February 11, 2012. I was asleep when the news broke and I've been in a state of denial ever since. Now that this podcast is completed, it's really hit me that Whitney is gone. Despite all the hard times she had fallen on in the past 10 years or so, Ms. Houston has always been one of the greats to me. Some of my earliest music memories began with her, especially considering music was becoming relevant to me around the time she put out I'm Your Baby Tonight and The Bodyguard soundtrack. It saddens me that I have to first celebrate her music on VJR under these circumstances but it's a fitting way for me to cope I suppose. I hope the music of this show brings you a tenth of the happiness that it has for me in my life. I love you Whitney.

For the first show of 2012, I decided to bring you a show featuring one of my favorite artists: Aubrey Drake Graham. Now, you may know Drake as the guy who exploded onto the scene with his mixtape So Far Gone in 2009 and from the countless hits and the two albums he's dropped since. But in this show, I aim to bring you the lesser known Drake music. With a few exceptions, this show consists of music from his first mixtape Room For Improvement to his first album Thank Me Later. I tried to stay away from singles as much as possible but you might hear a tune or two you've heard before. So without further ado, I give you: A Man Named Drake. This episode is a bit shorter than previous shows, just a heads up.

Tired of the same old music? Then this is the show for you! In this episode, I strive to educate my listeners on the genius that is Garth Brooks. Yeah, you read right. Garth Brooks. Of the country music genre. Garth was introduced to me when I moved to West Virginia in 1992 and I've been hooked ever since. So join me and Garth as we tour the country hollers, drink beer, and sing of love lost! I'd also like to dedicate this episode to my mother, Bonnie Conley.

To celebrate the King of Pop's 53rd birthday, I made myself a playlist of my favorite Michael songs and pushed play. I was about 20 minutes in when I realized MJ's birthday had presented me with the perfect opportunity to resurrect Victory Jumpoff Radio! So to put it simply: I once again give you Michael Jackson, just on my terms this time. Happy birthday Michael. You are still greatly missed!

After the cold winter West Virginia experienced, the first signs of warmth were greatly appreciated. In the short few days before the next cold front hit, I thought of the coming summer and all the musical memories I shared with it. It then became only right that I dedicate the next show of VJR to summertime tunage. Anything that I feel should be playing at barbecues, the beach, or the city rooftops goes as I attempt to share my summer music memories with you lucky listeners…or die tryin'!

Finally, Victory Jumpoff Radio has come back to the internets! This time I dedicate a whole episode to the Roc-A-Fella Records Dynasty (from 1998 to 2005) minus any songs that were contained on a Jay-Z album! Take a trip down memory lane as I unearth some of the Roc's best work and not necessarily the singles. This is only Volume 1, so expect future installments and your feedback will be greatly appreciated. Here's to the Roc!

Once I heard the news about Michael's passing, I immediately thought about doing a tribute episode. But considering how unsuccessful I've been with trying to get out the Slaughterhouse show or Chiv's mini-mix, it's a good thing my good friend DJ Strizy immediately went to his turntables and did this MJ Tribute Mix in one take. He was kind enough to let me use his mix for my second official show. So enjoy, and I really promise I have new episodes coming.

This is long overdue. I should put this out shortly after Show #1 but I delayed it, thinking I would get to it. Then Michael died. Then I threw away the Slaughterhouse show. Then I took it to Baseline for a show. And finally, in 2010, I bring you a mix from early 2009! lol.
