Es wird mal wieder Zeit für ein JAY-Z Projekt und nachdem wir bereits über das Klassiker-Debüt "Reasonable Doubt" sowie über dessen Nachfolger "In My Lifetime, Vol.1" gesprochen haben, ist es an der Zeit über "Vol.2... Hard Knock Life" zu sprechen. Ein ikonisches Album, auch wenn es sich nicht zwingend mit anderen Alben vergleichen lässt, die dieses Attribut tragen. Neben der klassisch überheblichen Attitude und seinem Aalgegenwärtigen Hussler-Mindset experimentiert Jigga auf seinem dritten Album vermehrt mit Up-Tempo Beats und eindringlichen Hooks, wofür er u.a. auch mit Produzenten wie Swizz Beatz und Timberland zusammenarbeitet. Losgelöst von subjektiven Präferenzen ist der Impact dieses Projektes unumstritten; sowohl für die Karriere von JAY-Z als auch für HipHip an sich.
