Rob Edwards is a thirty-year veteran of movies and television who wrote and produced shows including The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Full House, and In Living Color before writing two classic animated films for Walt Disney Feature Animation: the Academy Awards and Golden Globe nominated The Princess and The Frog, and the Academy Awards nominated Treasure Planet. His new project is the graphic novel Defiant: The Story of Robert Smalls. Rob Edwards reflects on being creative for a living, the difference between tourists and pretenders and being a real professional, and how he feels obligated to both teach and entertain in his work. He also shares what it was like working on such iconic TV shows as Roc and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and managing the pressure and responsibility of being one of the few Black creative workers with his range and depth of experience in Hollywood. Rob Edwards also does some sharing about his approach to writing the new Marvel film Captain America: Brave New World and how Anthony Mackie's character “Sam Wilson” (who is now the new “Captain America”) reflects the much deeper history of the long Black Freedom Struggle and the pressure to always succeed in the face of the (near) impossible. On this special Memorial Day episode of the podcast, Chauncey DeVega continues with his annual tradition of reading an account of the first such remembrance day that took place at the end of the Civil War when now free Black Americans buried Union Army war dead in Charleston, South Carolina and honored their sacrifice and victory over the Confederacy with a huge parade. Chauncey also reads an account written by a member of the United States Colored Troops about his experience(s) in the Civil War and doing battle against the forces of the Confederacy who were determined to keep Black people in bondage. And Chauncey DeVega goes on a journey around his neighborhood and has a surreal series of experiences where he was lucky to not be shot by street pirates, learned from a wise honored elder on the bus, and then encountered a young man who claimed to be a time traveler. Divorce papers in one hand, social services forms in the other. A small-town doctor facing financial ruin after losing her six-figure job. But that's not where Dr. Tara Harding's story ends – it's where it begins. Hear the raw, unfiltered journey of how rock bottom became the foundation for a healthcare revolution. From screaming on her bedroom floor to building a multi-state telehealth empire with 10 providers in just three years, Dr. Harding doesn't just talk about women's health – she's redefining it. Cutting through medical gaslighting and fighting legislative battles, this isn't your typical success story. It's a battle cry for anyone who's been told "it's all in your head" or "this is just normal" when their body is screaming otherwise. No bullshit, no filter – just the brutal truth about healthcare, entrepreneurship, and finding your voice when everything is collapsing around you.Connect with Dr. Tara Harding:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/tara-harding-brandner-27777643/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/simplyyouclinicInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/drtaraharding/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@drtarahardingTwitter/X: https://x.com/drtarahardingPinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/tarabfertility/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcPHExVed8i7iUd5OfV-CVQAs always we ask you to comment, DM, whatever it takes to have a conversation to help you take the next step in your journey, reach out on any platform!Twitter, FaceBook, Instagram, Tiktok, LinkedinDISCLOSURE: Awards and rankings by third parties are not indicative of future performance or client investment success. In the past decades, various forms of Buddhism have emerged in-between, above, and beyond conventional conceptions of religious and spiritual life in China. Multiple Liminalities of Lay Buddhism in Contemporary China: Modalities, Material Culture, and Politics (Leiden UP, 2024) is a qualitative study exploring manifestations of the massive revival of Buddhism among non-monastic people and communities. The book wishes to answer the central question: How do Chinese groups and individuals practice Buddhism under the socio-political and cultural circumstances of contemporary China? This inquiry is based on a sample of case studies from the People's Republic of China (PRC) and the Republic of China (Taiwan, ROC), exploring Buddhist communities, individual practitioners, materials, spaces, practice modalities and relationships. Each chapter examines a significant paradigm that plays a role in the revival of Buddhism in China, highlighting how lay practitioners negotiate their spaces, resources, moral and ethical beliefs, and values, in the face of rapid societal changes. The research reveals how state policies, economic shifts, local trends, and global developments, such as environmental concerns and technological advances impact and transform older Buddhist traditions. Overall, the author argues for the concept of multiple liminalities as a framework to describe the contemporary predicament of lay Buddhism in Chinese societies. Accordingly, lay Buddhist actors occupy liminal positions or operate across ambiguous boundaries where realms of in-betweenness, serve as avenues for religious responses to the complex challenges Buddhism in China faces. Dr. Tiatemsu Longkumer is a faculty in the Dept. of Anthropology at Royal Thimphu College, Bhutan. His academic pursuits center on the fields of Anthropology and the Philosophy of Religion.

Tennille Jenkins is a content creator and co-founder of the popular and long-running blog The Tennille Life. She studied interior architecture and design in college and started her career as an interior designer before spending several years as a stay-at-home mom with her two daughters. At age 30, she began to consider returning to the workforce and unexpectedly landed a job as a corporate flight attendant with the prestigious private flight company Clay Lacy Aviation. She eventually met Magic Johnson and became his private flight attendant for over eight years. In 2016, craving a creative outlet, she started a blog and Instagram account called The Tennille Life. It was there where she documented her style, travel adventures, and thoughts on aging, confidence, beauty over age 40, and more. By 2020, she'd built a significant following and realized that the time was right for her to make another career leap. So, she left her flight attendant position and became a full-time content creator. Over the last five years, she's grown her audience to over 317,000 followers and has worked with brands like Nordstrom, Shiseido, La Mer, Estée Lauder, Summer Fridays, RoC, Tata Harper, and many more.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
