A message to the church from Philippians.
We are journeying through the book of Ruth for the beginning of this new year.
Pastor Jon starts off the new year with a series focused on the book of Ruth.
In todays sermon Pastor Jon takes us through the parable of the Sower. He starts off with the reminder that Jesus mentions listening two times in this brief passage. Are we willing to listen and sow?
Pastor Jon points out that often the church tries to walk the line between following Jesus and being like thew world but that Jesus calls us to something different. He's calling us to be like the disciples - and it's not an easy call, but we gain his help through it all.
In Mark 2, we see that change is hard, but Pastor Jon reminds us that Jesus calls us to change and be closer to the heart of God.
As we move into Mark 2 for the sermon this week Pastor Jon reminds us how Jesus switched things up and sometimes that change was uncomfortable.
We live messy lives but in this weeks message Pastor Jon reminds us the good news is that Jesus isn't afraid of your mess!
Pastor Jon begins this next sermon in Mark by reminding us that: Jesus isn't supposed to be a part of your life, but your whole life! And that when Jesus is our foundation, everything else falls into place.
This week, Pastor Jon takes us through the revelatory thought that Jesus was telling the people to repent from their sin because the Messiah was there. That HE was there!
Continuing in our Mark series, we take a look at the temptation of Jesus.
Pastor Jon takes a look at how John the Baptist prepared the way for Jesus as we continue on in our new Mark series.

Do you ever feel stressed out and tired? That the pace of life is getting out of control? Pastor Jon reminds us that the church needs to be a place of stability in the midst of the chaos of our world. The church must be a place where people can find the truth. Where they can find that THEY belong!
Sin brings division but Jesus brings heaven. A sermon about belonging and how Jesus welcomes you to His church.

We're in the middle of a series taking a look at the life of Peter that Jon titles “Peter - From Simon the Rock”.In this weeks sermon, Jon reminds us that, when we intentionally seek out God, He meets us! He shares a song that God brought to his attention called Speak Now Jesus by Starfield. You can listen to it here.We take a look at the differences between the world ‘kingdom' and God's Kingdom. It is death and life! Two worlds collide - heavenly and earthly. In the story of Jesus healing many, Jesus wanted to forgive sins but they just wanted healing. He gave them both, but we see what his primary focus is: spiritual health. We can't approach His kingdom for what it can do for us, but what He will do through us! The last question Jon poses is short but contains such depth: How is your walk? Scriptures: Luke 4:38-44, Luke 5:17-26Download this sermon below or subscribe to our podcast!
This week we begin a new series taking a look at the life of Peter that Jon titles “Peter - From Simon the Rock”.After an explanation of Simon's (Peter') background, Jon reminds us that Simon saw himself as a sinful man while Jesus saw him as a fisher of men. It's a reminder to us that sin often drowns out the voice that gives us purpose! Jesus sees potential but we often get in the way of it coming to fruition. Know that God sees something in you! He believes in you and the potential He has given you. Jesus will invest in use because He desires to bring us to our best! Learning to live victoriously from Joshua's journey.Jon starts out this weeks message with a question, What is faith? He asked, “Now faith is…” and then went on to share from the scriptures, “the confidence in what we hope for and the assurance about what we do not see.”We are then reminded where we've been on this journey through Joshua. We remember out God told Joshua to be strong and courageous and for us to remember that God is with us! But then Jon posed a question as well: Why are we reluctant to step into all that God has called us to? We must ask ourselves if we are misplacing our faith in ourselves rather than in God. And we also must ask if we are willing to go “all in” for God! As Jon puts it, “The more comfortable we get with the world, the more we compromise our faith.” Our fear should be in Him, not in the things of this world. Learning to live victoriously from Joshua's journey.Do you ever stop and consider how big God is? During this message the Yreka Church of the Nazarene takes time to share what God has been doing in their lives. While not all are able to be heard, we hope you will celebrate with us about the amazing things our BIG God is doing! Jon also talks about how we can either surrender to God's plan for our lives in Jesus or we go our own way. But, no matter the choice we make, God is the author of our story. He is God and He is a BIG God. Through the course of his message he comes to share a story from the musical group For King and Country that happened before they created the song, Burn the Ships. You can watch that video here. The question remains: are you seeking God in the midst of your struggles? Do you consider His greatness and are you willing to surrender to His plan for your life? Learning to live victoriously from Joshua's journey. In this weeks message Jon shares a story with us where he said the words, “I got this” and learned the he didn't, similar to the Israelites. He then asks the question: Why do we expect God's blessing but fail too seek His wisdom going into the situation.Leading us through Joshua chapter 9, Jon reminds us that “if we want victory in this life, it is only through the Grace of Jesus.” Scripture: Joshua 9Download this sermon below or subscribe to our podcast!
Learning to live victoriously from Joshua's journey.A few weeks ago we talked about sin from the perspective of brokenness but this week Jon discusses sin from the perspective of the victory that we can have over it when we follow Jesus' leading and get rid of the sin in our lives. When we truly repent. The sin in our lives may look too big, like a battle we can't win, but we must remember that Jesus has already won that battle for us! Scripture: Joshua 8, Romans 6Download this sermon below or subscribe to our podcast!
We are celebrating our 70th anniversary as a church and welcomed back former pastor Jeff Whitney to share with us.
Learning to live victoriously from Joshua's journey. In Joshua chapters 7 and 8 we see sin's affect on victorious living. As Jon reminds us: “Your sin affects a lot more than just yourself.”We also witness the tragedy of disobedience but also the beauty of confession and repentance within this section. We are reminded that it is Jesus' sacrifice that can free us from that sin!Scripture: Joshua 7 & 8Download this sermon below or subscribe to our podcast!
Learning to live victoriously from Joshua's journey. In the next installment of Joshua's Journey we take a look at the famous tale of Joshua and the battle of Jericho. There are valuable lessons we can learn from his experience as God asks him to do something that appeared ‘crazy' but in realty was a testament to Joshua's obedience. Jon reminds us: “Walls fall when we listen to God's voice and we obey His lead.”Jon also references a song called No Impossible With You by I Am They. You can listen to it here. Learning to live victoriously from Joshua's journey. In this next part of our study through Joshua we are faced with the reality of our identity. Jon reminds us of the fact that God is in control - of all things. Then, as we turn to Joshua's story in chapter 5, we see that we must answer the questions of where our identity truly lies. It can't be in work, or wealth, or status. Our identity must be in Christ if we are to live victoriously! In chapter 5, we also see God telling Joshua and the Israelites to wait. It's time for them to remember who they are - and whose they are. It's a great reminder for us to take time and remember the same things. To not let the busy nature of life cloud out the reality of whose we are.Scripture: Joshua 5, Galatians 2:20Download this sermon below or subscribe to our podcast!
