This Sunday, Pastor Jon kicked off our new series on the "I Am" statements in the Gospel of John with three words that help us make sense of history and our own lives: Messiah, Church, and Kingdom. Jesus is the Messiah, the relationship we were made for. In the midst of our shame, weariness, and brokenness, He invites us to find true rest in Him. Jesus forms the Church, a counter-cultural community that embodies humility, gentleness, and love. And Jesus invites us into the Kingdom, a cause worth giving our lives to, restoring what is broken and giving dignity to the overlooked. Like the woman at the well, our response is to invite others: "Come and see." Over the next eight weeks, this series will equip us to share this hope with the people around us and our city.
Revelation 1 | The Revelation of Jesus ChristThe Book of Revelation doesn't begin with fear, chaos, or end-times confusion. It begins with a revelation of Jesus. In this message, Pastor Jon walks us through Revelation 1 and reminds us that Revelation is not about decoding symbols as much as it is about seeing the Savior clearly. Before John sees beasts, battles, or judgments, he sees Jesus—glorified, victorious, and standing in the middle of His Church.Jesus is revealed as the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the One who was dead and is now alive forevermore. He holds the keys to death and hell, and He holds His Church in His hands. This is not a distant Jesus. This is a present, powerful, reigning King.Revelation 1 shifts our focus from fear to faith, from uncertainty to authority. When Jesus is revealed correctly, everything else comes into alignment. The Church doesn't survive by strength or strategy—it stands because Jesus stands in the midst of it.If you've been overwhelmed by the times we're living in, this message will re-anchor your faith and re-center your vision on the One who is still in control. This is not the revelation of the end. It's the revelation of Jesus Christ.
We continue the series, Come and See with a message from Pastor Jon titled "Take Away the Stone", based on John 11:17-44.
What happens when God's presence comes into a city? In this conversation, Pastor Jon and Pastor Sam close out our "God Comes Where He's Wanted" series by teaching on the altar of the region. After exploring the altars of the heart, church, and family, we now address what can seem most daunting, moving from personal peace to embracing God's heart for an entire region. Only when we are heartbroken over our city and places will we begin to prayerfully build the altar of our region. We have to keep contending for our region in faith, declaring that we want Him here until He comes.
In week four of our No Retreat series, we look at God's plan for Joshua at the battle of Ai and the lesson it reveals about victory. When Israel relied on their own strength, they were quickly defeated — but when they followed God's strategy, they found success. In this message, Pastor Jon reminds us that lasting victory comes from trusting God's design, not our abilities. Whether it's marriage, finances, parenting, or your career, God's strategy leads to health, growth, and breakthrough when we're willing to follow His plan instead of our own.
We continued our "Goods News for Today" series today, with Pastor Jon teaching how the Gospel restores our identity in a culture that self-authors its identity. For more info go to thebridgebiblechurch.com.

If transformation is the goal, how do we preach grace without lowering the standard? In this message from Waymaker.Church, we explore how grace doesn't remove the call to change—it replaces self-effort with God's power. Walking through Ephesians 2, we see that transformation begins with resurrection, not self-improvement, and that belonging comes before doing. Grace removes the pressure to prove ourselves and reorders obedience as a response, not a performance. Discover how grace-fueled obedience leads to real, lasting transformation.

In week two of No Retreat, Cutting Before Conquest, we look at the moment in Joshua when God calls Israel to pause before moving forward. Before the conquest of the Promised Land, the people were required to renew their covenant and set themselves apart, removing the “Egypt” that still lingered within them. This message reveals that God is often more concerned with what He's doing in us than what He's giving to us. Pastor Jon connects this moment to the spiritual circumcision Jesus performs in our hearts today, calling us to surrender what no longer belongs so we can fully walk in the promises God has prepared.
Pastor Jon begins his new sermon series "Come and See" with a message called "Where He was Staying"
Pastor Jon invites us to step into 2026 with a clear conviction: the gospel doesn't just inform us—it transforms us. From 2 Corinthians 3, we declare this the Year of Transformation, choosing surrender over self-improvement. Tanner Petty then leads us in a powerful time of guided prayer as we turn to the Lord, come unveiled, and live with an expectation of real change in the presence of Jesus.
God reveals Himself to us and we see Him as enthroned, holy, and glorious.

In a world that often feels heavy and uncertain, we’ll gather to see and celebrate the comfort of His presence—the Light who enters our darkness, the Peace that steadies our hearts, and the hope that never fades. Discussion Questions: In Isaiah 9:1–2, Isaiah describes a movement from deep darkness to light. Based on the text, what is the source of this shift? What does Isaiah want us to see as the turning point from doom to hope? Isaiah calls the Messiah the “Prince of Peace” in verse 6. Looking at verses 6–7, where does this peace come from, and what kind of peace is Isaiah describing? What clues do we get that this peace is rooted in God’s rule, not our circumstances? In 2 Corinthians 5, Paul says we are reconciled to God through Christ and calls people to “be reconciled to God.” How does peace with God serve as the foundation for every other kind of peace Isaiah points toward? Jesus says in John 14:27, “My peace I give to you… not as the world gives.” How does Jesus’ definition of peace differ from what we usually think of when we talk about peace? How does this help us understand why inner peace can exist even when life feels unsettled? Pastor Jon talked about peace in four directions—peace with God, peace within, peace with others, and peace that is still to come. Which of those do you feel most drawn to or most lacking right now, and how does Scripture invite you to take a step toward peace there?

At Jesus' birth, peace didn't arrive as a worldwide change in circumstances — it arrived as a person.“On earth peace” reminds us that God sent Peace into a broken world, not by removing adversity, but by being present in it through Jesus. We don't have to wait for Christ's second coming to experience His peace — it's available to us now as we come to know Him personally, even in the middle of fear, pain, and uncertainty. In this message from our Christmas at Vima services, Pastor Jon invites us to uncover a powerful truth hidden in familiar words.

Christmas involves quite a few kings. When Jesus, the King of Kings, entered the world, there were already earthly kings that Jesus's Kingdom challenged. Pastor Jon compares Jesus's holy, eternal, and powerful Kingdom to the limited and dark ones of Caesar and Herod. Speaker: Jon Thompson Publication: December 21, 2025

In this message from The Missing Peace, Pastor Jon explores what it means to make peace with God. Even when belief remains, it's possible to lose our peace with Him — and this message invites us to examine where that disconnect may exist. At the heart of this message is an invitation to return to honest, restored communion with God. In seasons of questioning, waiting, and unmet expectations, we're reminded that true peace was purchased at a great cost and is found when we repent, realign our hearts, and draw near to Him once again.

This Sunday, Pastor Jon continued our Advent series, He Shall Be, with a teaching on Jesus' greatness and how He redefined what greatness means in the Kingdom of God. He contrasted our culture's pursuit of success, status, and recognition with the way of Jesus, whose greatness is revealed in humility, dependence, and self-giving love. In a world obsessed with achievement, Jesus' greatness is found in His descent; he had everything but became a child for our sake. And when we follow Jesus' example and rest in the Father's secure love, we are freed to serve others without fear. The path to true greatness is not a life shaped not by recognition, but by humility and Christlike love.
Jesus is the prophesied Messiah, let us go and worship Him!

This week on the Companion Podcast, we're unwrapping one of the most needed gifts of Christmas — peace. Not the kind you get from a quiet moment, a Hallmark movie, or a candle that smells like pine needles, but the kind Jesus offered His disciples in the middle of a storm. Evan, Pastor Jon, and David talk about real peace: the kind that anchors you when your fears are justified, when the boat is actually filling with water, and when life feels more chaotic than Christmas should allow. They explore how the Holy Spirit forms peace in us, why temporary fixes fall short, how pride keeps us holding the string of our anxieties, and how humility opens us to the peace Jesus gives. If your life feels more like a storm than a snow globe, this episode is for you.

Paul asks the question every critic of grace loves to throw: If we're saved by free grace and not by law-keeping, why not just keep sinning? In this final B-Sides of the year, Pastor Jon and Pastor Rusten dive into Romans 6 and show why the answer is a resounding “By no means!” Union with Christ's death and resurrection, the end of slavery to sin, and the myth of neutrality all show that grace doesn't permit sin—it kills it. Merry Christmas, everyone! We hope you enjoy, and as usual, if you have any questions for Sermon B-Sides or anything else, email us at pastor@coramdeochurch.org.

Join us this weekend as Pastor Jon concludes our series, Discovering Deuteronomy, with a message titled “Choose Life”diving into Deuteronomy 30:11-20.
The effect of knowing and understanding God's word is joy that brings strength.
This Sunday, Pastor Jon Tyson continued our series Making Sense of Church with a teaching from Ephesians 2:14–18, focusing on Paul's vision of the Church as the "the new humanity." In a society marked by polarization, contempt, and hostility, Pastor Jon reminded us that Jesus Himself is our peace—the One who tears down dividing walls and creates a radically new kind of community. In Adam, the "old humanity" is marked by blame, fear, hiding, violence, and retaliation, but in Christ, we are brought into a kainos humanity—new in kind, not just in time. Through the cross, Jesus forms a people defined by grace, love, and unity.
In the final message of our Nehemiah series, we pause with Israel to look back and remember God's faithfulness. When the work stops and we review the journey, we see a God who always finishes what He starts — not just in the walls around us, but in the hearts within us.Pastor Jon invites us to recognize how God forms us through the process, how knowing His faithfulness reshapes our worship, and how remembering His goodness empowers us to move forward with confidence. Let this word encourage you to trust what God is building in you.
