In this disturbing episode, Chris revisits the case of Devin Fernandez, a former corrections officer who crossed the line from authority figure to alleged predator, luring a 14-year old girl for sex, during an undercover sting operation. Through graphic chat logs and tense interrogation moments, Chris exposes the calculated manipulation, grooming tactics, and dangerous mindset behind the encounter.  But the investigation goes deeper. Chris pulls back the curtain on the justice system itself, comparing wildly different sentencing outcomes in cases from Florida to California — including the controversial plea deals that leave many asking whether predators are truly being held accountable. Why do some offenders face decades behind bars while others walk away with shockingly light punishment.  Sponsored by: Home Title Lock: Go to https://hometitlelock.com/chrishansen and use promo code HANSEN to get a FREE title history report and a FREE TRIAL of their Triple Lock Protection! Rickey Smiley is a nationally beloved stand-up comedian, award-winning syndicated radio host, television personality, bestselling author, and one of the most authentic voices in entertainment today. Born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, Rickey first captured America's attention through his legendary prank phone calls and breakout performances on BET's Comic View before building a media empire that includes The Rickey Smiley Morning Show, heard in over 70 cities nationwide. A two-time Marconi Award winner, Rickey has starred in multiple television series and specials, including his critically acclaimed Hulu comedy special Foolish. Beyond the laughs, Rickey is a devoted father, grandfather, mentor, and man of deep faith who uses his platform to uplift communities and inspire others. His bestselling memoir, Sideshow: Living with Loss and Moving Forward with Faith, chronicles his journey through unimaginable grief—including the loss of his eldest son Brandon—and stands as a powerful testament to resilience, service, and the healing power of purpose. Takeaways:Give Your Kids What You Had, Not What You Didn't: Rickey Smiley is unapologetic about raising his children and grandchildren with the same discipline, structure, and old-fashioned home training his grandparents gave him. No negotiations, no iPads as pacifiers, no coddling. In a world where everything right is being called wrong and everything wrong is being called right, Rickey stands firm—because the foundation that built him still works. If you liked who you became, give your kids the blueprint that made you, not the things you missed out on.Men, Put Your Ego Down and Get Help: Rickey Smiley performed comedy shows while crying backstage. He went back on the radio three days after burying his son because eight million listeners needed him. But behind closed doors, he sat on the steps of his kitchen and cried for days. This conversation is a direct message to men—you cannot be too big, too proud, or too successful to grieve, to seek therapy, and to talk about what you are carrying. Rickey's honesty about his own mental health journey, and Mick's personal testimony about how the book Sideshow pushed him into therapy, is the kind of real talk that saves lives.Help People, Protect Your Peace, and Pay It Forward: Rickey's “because” is simple—he wakes up every day to serve, to bless, and to make somebody's life better. But he also delivers a truth that every giver needs to hear: not everybody you help is going to appreciate it. Out of twenty people you pour into, maybe six or seven will say thank you. Be prepared for the disappointment, protect your peace fiercely, and keep pouring anyway—because that is the assignment. Our grandparents and teachers made personal sacrifices so we could have what we have, and the only proper response is to pay it forward. Sound Bytes:“I told God a long time ago, hey, if you get me out of this rut right here, I promise you, I'll serve you to the day I die and try to make somebody life better because of the things that you bless me with.” “You literally on stage, doing joke, doing comedy, performing while you crying on the inside.” “I think that what my grandparents and my parents did for me, it worked for me. It was critical to my development. And if it worked for me, it should work for my kids, because it still works.” Connect & Discover Rickey:Instagram: @rickeysmileyofficialFacebook: @RickeySmileyOfficialYouTube: @RickeySmileyOfficialTikTok: @rickeysmileydigitalWebsite: RickeySmiley.comShow: The Rickey Smiley Morning ShowBook: Sideshow: Living with Loss and Moving Forward with Faith

Over the past few years, the initiative has provided assistance worth millions of Rupees. Beyond financial aid, the group supports people by helping them find jobs, offering relief during disasters, assisting in medical emergencies, organising blood donations, and extending help in many other ways. Thousands of volunteers, many of whom were previously unknown to each other, have come together through this initiative. Is government really designed to help people, or is the system more complicated than we think? In this episode of Common Denominator, I take a step back from politics and focus on something more important: how systems actually work in the real world. We're often taught that government programs exist to protect and support u, but when you look closer, questions start to emerge. Why does government spending tend to be so inefficient compared to the private sector? What happens when programs fail—but don't go away? And are we measuring success the right way?I break down:- Why government spending doesn't follow the same accountability as business- A surprising comparison between New York City and Florida budgets- The difference between short-term help and long-term opportunity- Why people are moving to places like Florida in record numbers- The real role government should play in a thriving societyThis isn't about being political—it's about being practical. Because if we want better outcomes, we need to understand what actually lifts people up.In my view, the answer isn't more control, it's more opportunity.Like this episode? Stories can help people understand why health care keeps failing both patients and clinicians.  In this episode, Shantanu Rai, a primary care physician and novelist, discusses how his medical thriller, A Dangerous Diagnosis, became a way to explore moral injury, physician burnout, concierge medicine, worsening access to specialty care, fragmented treatment, and the financial and administrative pressures reshaping modern practice. He reflects on what he sees in safety-net primary care, why more physicians are considering escape routes from traditional medicine, and how payment models can make care feel rushed and transactional. Shantanu also explains why he chose fiction over academic writing, how storytelling can build empathy among clinicians, and why public engagement may be essential to meaningful reform. Along the way, he shares his thoughts on universal coverage, physician leadership, and the bigger structural changes needed to make health care more humane.  Tune in and learn why storytelling may be one of the strongest tools for exposing what is broken in health care and inspiring people to demand something better.  Resources: Learn more about the book The Dangerous Diagnosis here. Send us Fan MailIf you're great at therapy but secretly uneasy about money, marketing, or the sheer logistics of running a practice, this conversation is for you. We sit down with Nicole Liloia, LCSW, to talk about what actually makes a private practice sustainable, not just inspiring on paper. Because “I didn't get into this for the money” can be true, and it can still lead straight to burnout if your business can't support your life.We dig into the practical foundations: how to know your numbers, set an income goal that accounts for taxes, business expenses, health insurance, vacation time, and retirement, and calculate what your average session rate really is (especially if you take multiple insurance plans). We also talk about why so many therapists avoid tracking revenue and time, how ADHD and time blindness can amplify overwork, and why outsourcing tasks like billing can be a smart sustainability move rather than a luxury. Then we shift into modern therapist marketing strategy. Algorithms change, directories change, and what worked during the pandemic may not work now. Nicole shares how to pivot without chasing every shiny tactic, why you should never rely on a single referral source, and how one small intake form tweak can reveal exactly where your best clients come from. We also make the case for a clear niche and client-word messaging so the people you're meant to help can immediately recognize themselves. If you want a therapist business that lasts, listen through, join the conversation, and then subscribe, share with a colleague, and leave a review so more clinicians can build sustainable private practices without burning out. This podcast is meant to be a resource for the general public, as well as fellow therapists/psychologists. It Takes Leaders with Vision to Help People with Dreams Have you ever stopped to remember that every single person you meet has a dream? Some of those dreams are massive—building companies, creating wealth, impacting millions of people. And some are simple but just as powerful—a dream for peace, joy, or to be truly happy again. In this episode, I'm breaking down one of the most important truths I've ever learned: it takes leaders with vision to help people with dreams. I share how your love—love for your family, your spouse, your children, your team—has to be greater than your fear, your adversity, or your obstacles. Because if you're not attaching your vision to something bigger than yourself, it's too easy to quit. I walk you through the difference between being motivational, inspirational, and aspirational—and why only one of these creates lasting transformation. We talk about the role of vision in leadership, not just in business, but in your home and in your own life. Whether you're leading a company, raising a family, or leading yourself, your job is to sell the dream—again and again—until everyone around you can see what you see. And here's the key: it can't just be words. You have to validate that vision with massive action so others know it's real. I share how leaders from Jesus to Martin Luther King Jr. to Steve Jobs created movements because they didn't just speak dreams, they embodied them. And I give you a roadmap for becoming that kind of leader—the kind whose love and vision make them unstoppable. Because the truth is, your dream isn't just about you. It's about the people whose lives you're meant to change when you finally step into your calling. Key Takeaways: Why every person you meet carries a dream in their heart The difference between being motivational, inspirational, and aspirational How to attach your love to your vision so obstacles can't stop you The importance of repeatedly “selling the dream” in your family, business, and life Why your actions must validate your vision if you want to inspire others Your dream is waiting—and so are the people counting on you to lead them. Let's rise together. Max out.
