It Takes Leaders with Vision to Help People with Dreams Have you ever stopped to remember that every single person you meet has a dream? Some of those dreams are massive—building companies, creating wealth, impacting millions of people. And some are simple but just as powerful—a dream for peace, joy, or to be truly happy again. In this episode, I'm breaking down one of the most important truths I've ever learned: it takes leaders with vision to help people with dreams. I share how your love—love for your family, your spouse, your children, your team—has to be greater than your fear, your adversity, or your obstacles. Because if you're not attaching your vision to something bigger than yourself, it's too easy to quit. I walk you through the difference between being motivational, inspirational, and aspirational—and why only one of these creates lasting transformation. We talk about the role of vision in leadership, not just in business, but in your home and in your own life. Whether you're leading a company, raising a family, or leading yourself, your job is to sell the dream—again and again—until everyone around you can see what you see. And here's the key: it can't just be words. You have to validate that vision with massive action so others know it's real. I share how leaders from Jesus to Martin Luther King Jr. to Steve Jobs created movements because they didn't just speak dreams, they embodied them. And I give you a roadmap for becoming that kind of leader—the kind whose love and vision make them unstoppable. Because the truth is, your dream isn't just about you. It's about the people whose lives you're meant to change when you finally step into your calling. Key Takeaways: Why every person you meet carries a dream in their heart The difference between being motivational, inspirational, and aspirational How to attach your love to your vision so obstacles can't stop you The importance of repeatedly “selling the dream” in your family, business, and life Why your actions must validate your vision if you want to inspire others Your dream is waiting—and so are the people counting on you to lead them. Let's rise together. Max out.

Brain-computer interfaces, or BCIs, aim to enable people to control various adaptive devices directly with their thoughts. There are many BCI devices currently in various stages of development, with the potential to help people with ALS and similar conditions across many different activities of daily life. One particular area in which BCI devices may be able to support people with advanced ALS symptoms is communication. Many people with ALS rely on devices such as smartphones, tablets, and laptops to write or speak. All tools like these, collectively known as augmentative and alternative communication or AAC devices, need some kind of input to work. This could mean using a keyboard, a touchscreen, or, for people with advanced paralysis, an eye-gaze device. As ALS progresses, however, even eye gaze devices may become difficult for some people to use. BCIs—by allowing people to control AAC devices with their minds—could be a potential solution to this problem. Today, on Endpoints, we’re joined by two experts to discuss BCI technology and, in particular, its potential to help people with ALS continue to communicate. The views expressed in this podcast are those of the speakers and do not represent official endorsements by any organization. Kate Nilsen currently serves as an advisor to Synchron, a company developing a brain-computer interface (BCI) device. This device is investigational and is currently in clinical trials approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Pieter Engelbrecht, CEO of South Africa's largest supermarket group Shoprite Holdings, is interviewed by Jewel Kiriungi, BBC Africa Business Correspondent. His company employs 163,000 people, the largest in the country's private sector, with three thousand stores across nine African countries. Pieter Engelbrecht describes to Jewel how he believes the company helps people on low incomes by producing food at prices they can afford, in a country where a quarter of all South Africa children don't eat enough protein. He says they have a purpose to help people survive. He talks about the success of the company's loyalty card programme and how everything they do is data driven. He says he sees potential to grow the business in South Africa and beyond despite Shoprite having closed its operation in several parts of the continent, including Nigeria and Kenya.(Image: Pieter Engelbrecht, Credit: Getty Images/Bloomberg)

Host Jodi Katz sat down with two women at the forefront of redefining health care as we know it: Liz Josefsberg, Founder & CEO of Target 100 Inc and Sarah Pesce, COO of stealth-mode wellness startup Radence.Despite wildly different paths—Liz went from Broadway star to Weight Watchers executive, while Sarah pivoted from nurse practitioner to health-tech builder—both share a mission: to help people move from “sick care” to well care.Liz's early career was center stage—literally. She spent years performing in Showboat and Les Misérables, all while privately battling weight fluctuations. That struggle led her to Weight Watchers, first as a member, then as a team member, and ultimately as their Director of Brand Advocacy. She helped build programs, consulted for the CEO, and guided celebrities like Jennifer Hudson and Charles Barkley through their own wellness transformations. But Liz wanted more than just the Weight Watchers playbook. She authored Target 100, a behavioral weight loss book that evolved into an app platform connecting hydration tracking, biometrics, and movement. Her mission? To give people a simple, evidence-based way to understand their bodies—and stay in the game without guilt or shame.Sarah began in cardiology, treating patients already facing chronic illness. It didn't sit right. She saw an opportunity to move upstream—to build better systems for prevention. That led her to advanced degrees, hospital innovation work, and eventually to launching wellness labs that deliver “digital twins” of users through biomarker testing, wearables, and environmental data. Now, at Radence, Sarah's team is developing a member-based preventative screening experience backed by a powerhouse science team. Her focus? Making cutting-edge longevity care accessible, personalized, and understandable—without needing an advanced medical degree to interpret your own labs.Liz and Sarah agreed on nearly everything: that bio-data is only helpful if it's explained clearly. That technology is outpacing consumer understanding. That shame is a sales tool used too often—and that emotional support is what most health programs are missing. Whether it's using AI to build “Liz in your pocket” or designing a membership that meets people where they are, their north star is clarity, context, and compassion. As Liz put it: “No woman has ever come to me and said she doesn't know an apple is better than a Snickers. The problem isn't information. It's behavior—and how we stay in the game.”
Emily Brown founded Attane Health four years ago to ensure people with chronic health problems have access to the right foods to improve their health. Now, her work has won her the Spark Prize, an unrestricted award from the Missouri Foundation for Health to keep the innovation going.

Wes Adams: Meaningful Work Wes Adams is the CEO of SV Consulting Group, a firm partnering with Fortune 500s and scaling companies to develop high-impact leaders and support high-performing teams. He is also a positive psychology researcher at the University of Pennsylvania, where he studies the leadership practices and organizational structures that help employees thrive. He's the author, along with Tamara Myles, of Meaningful Work: How to Ignite Passion and Performance in Every Employee*. A generation ago, work was just work for a lot of folks. Today, we expect more out of our careers than past generations ever did. That means leaders need to be better at helping people find meaning at work. In this conversation, Wes and I discuss how leaders can do better at being catalysts for connection. Key Points We expect so much more from work than we did a generation ago. Work is increasingly a place where people seek belonging, purpose, and meaning. Supporting community in the workplace is a combination of building trust and designing shared experiences. Just like a balanced investment portfolio, community is a combination of diverse avenues that build a strong foundation. Consider a simple structure for synchronized breaks to help people connect more intentionally during work. Invite team members to share a story of them at their best or reflect on a photo/story that has meaning for them at the start of team meetings. When responding to a joy that a colleague shares, ask a follow-up question that engages and elevates. Higher difficulty (yet strongly meaningful) activities include shared volunteer work and funding or support for community activities. By occasionally sharing personal plans, stories, reading lists, or other activities, the leader sets the tone for others feeling safe to connect in this way. I'm always asking questions. The fun begins when you start researching for answers. Such as… Asking A.I. technology what the real chances are that Ukraine and Russia will locate peace. Plus…does consuming local honey really help those suffering with allergies? I'm Arroe… I am a daily writer. A silent wolf. I stand on the sidelines and do nothing but watch, listen study then activate. I call it The Daily Mess. A chronological walk through an everyday world. Yes, it's my morning writing. As a receiver of thoughts and ideas, we as people tend to throw it to the side and deal with it later. When a subject arrives, I dig in. It's still keeping a journal! Sales gets a dirty scammy rep but the truth is, if you can't sell people you can't help people. Charging people is not immoral, it's required for their success. If you have a good product or service, you have an obligation to be good at sales. I've closed over 2.3 million in sales and only had $7,000 in refunds which is .3% of total sales. Unheard of in my industry. “If your product or service is good enough it sells itself” is such a lazy approach to business. When it comes to most clietentel, they have limiting beliefs around spending money on themselves, mom's and women especially. A tip I have for sales that a lot of people miss: bridging the gap. In this episode, I'm going to explain how a lot of people fuck up sales by talking about themselves too much and not enough about solving their potential prospects problems. We'll also talk about what to look out for during the call and how to personalize your program for what they want in real time. I talk about real-life tips for breaking the overwhelm, managing perfectionism, building momentum, and overcoming shame, all with the aim of making progress sustainable and achievable in your day-to-day life. This episode is all about honest advice that actually works, whether you're in the thick of it or just looking for a few smarter ways to approach this. Hoarding Awareness Week 2025 and its theme: Hoarding & Executive Function Recognition that executive function challenges impact both neurodivergent and neurotypical people Executive Function and Hoarding Previous podcast episodes relating to executive function, ADHD, and hoarding Importance of using effective hacks and techniques, regardless of neurotype Emphasis on finding what works personally for each listener The Realities and Challenges of Tackling Hoarding Overwhelm and daunting feelings about dehoarding Breaking tasks into small, manageable parts Focus on actionable, day-to-day strategies rather than long-term, rigid planning Understanding Executive Function Explanation of what executive function is (control centre for planning, focus, and impulse control) Factors that can impair executive function (neurodivergence, mental health, stress, lack of sleep, etc.) Universality of executive dysfunction - everyone struggles at times Emotional Barriers: Perfectionism and Shame The cycle of shame and self-blame in executive dysfunction and hoarding Societal judgment around hoarding, and its paralysing effects Strategies for stepping back, naming emotions, and cultivating self-compassion Core Executive Dysfunction Tips and Hacks Breaking Tasks Down Setting realistic micro-goals The concept of “towards” vs. “away” moves in progress Tracking Progress Counting bags/items leaving the house Caution against tracking becoming burdensome for some Using Timers Setting short (e.g., 5-minute) timers to help with task initiation Use of voice assistants to avoid distraction Reverse-timer technique to use end of music/podcast as a cue for action The Two-Minute Rule Limitations and personal adaptations of rule Identifying Motivations Creating visual or written reminders of why you want to dehoard Acceptance of some tools working only temporarily, and switching when necessary Reward Systems Small, non-material rewards for completing tasks Linking listening to desired media (like the podcast) with decluttering activities Non-Negotiable Rules Creating routines to reduce decision fatigue (e.g., charity bags leave home immediately) Body Doubling Doing tasks alongside others (physically or virtually, like in the host's Zoom sessions) Emotional/moral support of parallel accountability Alternative ways to body double if group support isn't accessible Time Blocking and Scheduling Using calendars and reminders to schedule decluttering sessions Flexibly adapting this strategy based on personal response Habit Stacking Linking a new task to an established routine (e.g., unloading dishwasher while kettle boils) Using “add-ons” for frequently-visited spaces (e.g., clearing five things each time you enter the bathroom) Links Podcast ep 183: ADHD, executive dysfunction and creating hacks and systems to reduce clutter chaos, with Carrie Lagerstedt Podcast ep 162: From Fibble to Focus: Defibble your executive dysfunction with Jo Cavalot Podcast ep 112: Executive function, executive dysfunction and hoarding with Dr Jan Eppingstall Podcast ep 149: ADHD, hoarding and clutter with Susie Boutal, ADHD and Declutter Coach Podcast ep 107: Things that look like hoarding but aren't: ADHD, depression, autism, OCD, OCPD and more Podcast ep 40: ADHD and hoarding with Dr Sharon Morein Podcast ep 82: Dehoarding when you're drowning with KC Davis of Struggle Care Podcast ep 182: What are “towards and away moves” and what on earth do they have to do with hoarding recovery? Episode Overview In a sea of sameness, your story is your superpower. In this insightful episode, John Kitchens sits down with Colorado-based agent and branding expert Sam Basel to break down his biggest takeaways from the Thousand Watt Conference—a premier real estate branding and marketing summit now rebranding as Signal. Together, they explore how real estate professionals can stand out in a noisy, AI-fueled market by mastering emotional storytelling, clarifying brand identity, and delivering consistent, human-centered marketing. From building deeper buyer personas to using AI without sounding like a robot, this episode is packed with takeaways to help you resonate with today's AI-empowered clients—and tomorrow's. Key Takeaways 1. Lead with Emotion, Not Just Data Facts tell, stories sell. Buyers make decisions emotionally and back them up with logic. Don't just market homes—tell the story of the life lived inside them. 2. Your Brand Must Be Crystal Clear Your identity is your magnetic field. Sam's “Alpine Legacy” brand speaks to second-home buyers drawn to the Colorado mountains. Align your messaging with who you are and who you're best equipped to serve. 3. Drill Down into Buyer Personas Know their lifestyle, not just their budget. Break down buyer types into motivations, life stage, and emotional triggers. The more personal your messaging, the more powerful your results. 4. Use AI to Enhance, Not Replace AI is your assistant—not your voice. Personalize outputs with detailed prompts that reflect your brand tone. Use AI for story refinement, persona mapping, and message clarity—not copy/paste posts. 5. Trust Comes from Authenticity Over Time Your story needs to be yours. Perfection is boring—show up human and real. People resonate more with your worst video than your most polished one. 6. Content That Connects > Content That Sells Market to the customer's journey, not your résumé. Tell stories of past client transformations—not just property specs. Bonus Concepts Beware of AI Sameness: Without intention, AI outputs will make your brand blend in—not stand out. Social Media Is the Skill That Elevates Everything: Improving your content helps you sell, lead, negotiate, and relate better. Branding is Gardening: Prune distractions, nurture key assets, and design for growth. If You Experiment Enough, Success Becomes Inevitable: Action over perfection. Be Kind. Help People. These are your most powerful brand values—always.
