This is where the grapes meet the sky, as they say, thanks to high altitude vineyards reaching upwards of 2400 to 3000 feet in elevation.Here at Starfield Vineyards, you gaze at the vineyard views surrounded by evergreens in every direction. This mountain terroir gives El Dorado wines their distinct herbal and spicy flavor, or Sierra spice, as it's called in these parts, a flavor profile that makes them stand out among other California wines. We're so excited to be speaking with Rob Sinton at this gorgeous property set with lakes and miles of walking trails, where you can soak up the wine country experience and enjoy some darn good wines. Starfield is also the dream of Rob and his father Tom, whose love of wine led them on a quest to find the best place to grow Rhone and Italian varietals. Their search sent them into the Sierra Foothills and El Dorado County. Today Rob is not only making wine, he's reinventing wine labels using solargraphy, championing forgotten grapes, and even creating his own vermouths.We're sure that once you hear Rob's story, you'll want to plan a visit to this and other wineries in the mountainous El Dorado wine country.

That magic seems increasingly rare in today's gaming landscape.We kick off with our usual life updates – a new remote cybersecurity position after seven grueling interviews, a catastrophic house flood that created an indoor waterfall, and the vehicle troubles that seem to follow us everywhere. But these personal challenges led us to a deeper conversation about the state of gaming in 2024.Watching the recent Gamescom presentations revealed a troubling pattern: both presenters and audiences seemed to go through the motions without genuine enthusiasm. Even announcements for major franchises like Monster Hunter, Final Fantasy, and Fallout failed to generate the excitement they once would have. The chat was filled with bored viewers, and the audience reactions were noticeably muted.The culprit? Triple-A studios playing it safe. Bethesda exemplifies this problem perfectly – fans have been begging for Elder Scrolls 6 for years, yet they've prioritized projects like Indiana Jones games and watched Starfield fall flat despite massive marketing. Meanwhile, EA and other major publishers continue churning out annual iterations of sports games with minimal innovation.Perhaps most concerning is the industry's addiction to the DLC model. Games like Destiny 2, World of Warcraft, and The Sims 4 have extended their lifecycles through endless expansions rather than creating true sequels. Xbox saw Matty was slipping, so in a bold strategy to reel the Dukes back in, they have opted to greenlight Fallout 5. Despite what many will try and say to downplay this, there is a strong chance that Fallout 5 goes beyond the borders of Bethesda for the first time since 2010. Considering it's a mainline entry, this is a massive shakeup. It gets even more dicey when Obsidian Entertainment gets taken off the board. So, who makes a new Fallout game? The 76 team? InXile?
