Our dearest listeners, we apologize for the extremely long wait! Quinn and I have been busy. This episode is something of an experiment, as we also filmed the conversation, which should be uploaded to our YouTube channel. What do we talk about? Well as per usual a bunch of nonsense, proper balderdash this time, really. I sincerely hope you enjoy it. Thanks for listening as always, Stay frosty, Jonathan
This episode Jonathan and Quinn are joined by Jonathan's girlfriend Brynn as they discuss art theory and what makes art "good". Check out this episode on Youtube if you want to see the art pieces they discuss! - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSy8Z5I_PPU Check out Brynn's work- https://linktr.ee/brynn.mercer
Listen to the story of Jonathan, as he attempts to find his way through a puzzle that Quinn set up! Can you find the answers before Jonathan? Afterward, join our discussion of a university thesis. Jonathan explains how things went down with his new professor, plus much more, on this episode of Zoned Out. Stay Frosty ~Q
Jonathan has a philosophy exam tomorrow! Time to explore the abstract with our guest of the episode, Sean Rhuman! We ponder a list of questions, asking about aliens, the universe, and the quality of human experience. Plenty of cool concepts throughout, we hope you enjoy a little food for thought. And as always, stay frosty (: ~Q
Back again, Jonathan and Quinn have something to say after a while apart. Stories and reflections are shared concerning the state of education and the wildest stories told at school. The boys discuss supernatural research and the remarkable qualities of coincidence. Please enjoy this opening episode for season 2! Oh and, please, stay frosty :)
Jackson Barnes accompanies the boys for some contemplation of historical data and possible futures. Jackson drops knowledge left and right, shedding light on communist function to sci-fi fantasy. Enjoy the three friends reuniting their former glory, one which blazed bright back in the days of high school. Hopefully one day we can bring you an in person recording for even more shenanigans. Stay Frosty, - Q
The two hooligans you know and love are back! This time revisiting the philosophical concept of determinism. We also fantasize about writing and producing an Adam Sandler-esque film and ramble on about many different things, really. The conversation kind of got away from us this time. Hope you enjoy! - J
Taking a break from guest episodes, Jonathan and Quinn combine their crazy thoughts in an experimental episode. What would Jonathan do as Alan Turing in a moral dilemma of World War 2? If Quinn had 30 seconds to transmit everyone in the world a message, what would he say? What would Jonathan say? How would they go about creating an ideal society? All these topics and more, if you tune in! Stay Frosty :)
Jonathan and Quinn get personal yet again, this time with longtime friend Matthew, sharing some hopefully interesting anecdotes and high jinks from times past. About our guest: Matthew and Jonathan go way back, having known each other since early elementary school. Matthew is currently enrolled in paramedic training and has recently taken up investing where he been impressively successful. Throughout the years, whenever Jonathan has taken part in some reckless or exceedingly exciting behaviour, Matthew was often close by. Jonathan and Quinn both hope to get the opportunity to talk with him again soon.
LISTENER DISCRETION IS ADVISED. Some viewers may find the contents of this episode disturbing. The conversation gets quite dark at times and while hopefully entertaining, this episode is not entirely uplifting. Still, we hope you enjoy. This week, we share our thoughts on some moral dilemmas and philosophies with our close friend, Brennan Monaghan. We reflect on the belief/movement known as Antinatalism, the search for purpose in life, the never ending journey to self-acceptance, which subject we would each teach in high school given the opportunity, and the subjectivity/creation of art. About our guest: Brennan is a second year undergrad student who studies architecture at the University of Toronto. He also makes some very interesting music under the name BRINGITBACK which can be found on youtube at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSkuAvUtTh3opCPC1LjhXPw. I (Jonathan) highly recommend it.
Jonathan, Quinn, and very special guest Tia, discuss the emergence of social media "activism" and how it relates to hegemonic consumerist brainwashing and surveillance. We also look at how the new generation has used their newfound ability to connect with others on a global scale. About Tia: Tia is a fellow undergraduate student currently studying in her second year at Western University where she is majoring in the Faculty of Media and Information Studies. She is active in Hillel on campus and is a World Jewish Congress Lauder Fellow. Originally from Vancouver BC, Tia was one of the two Vancouver high school interns for StandWithUs Canada during her senior year and became a member of the CJPAC Generation Program.
In this week's episode Jonathan and Quinn start off by discussing the possibility of a dystopian future, then the point of vegetarianism, and finally Jonathan urges Quinn to "remember death" and they explain what they want to happen to their remains after they pass into the Netherworld.
Jonathan and Quinn distract you from this time of COVID-19 social distancing and elaborate on some interesting concepts concerning "The Machines". As technology progresses, Jonathan and Quinn cannot help but ponder the future of a technological singularity, conscious AI, android empathy, and machine learning. Prior to embarking on this, they of course include some life advice, introspective quandary, and a psychological task that you can try for yourself during quarantine boredom. Enjoy the podcast, and stay safe listeners!
Jonathan and Quinn get personal and discuss some strange experiences they have had. This one contains an especially large amount of screwing around.
Jonathan and Quinn explore some of the most interesting and majestic species of animals on planet earth, including their many unique capabilities and theoretical characteristics. They also discuss pollution, evolution, ancient Greek paradox, and the modern day wonder that is the internet. Stick around to the end and hear their game plan for the ultimate life if they could control other peoples minds with amnestics! Don't forget to email feedback to jonathanfeltrin01@gmail.com after you finish listening :)
What if a thought from one mind could be transmitted to another? Will artificial intelligence ever be as capable as its human creators? What does it really mean to exist?
If you could travel to any one moment in history, what would you change? What would you ask someone who knew everything? What would you put into a machine that makes things better?
