Greetings everyone! Christian and I (Jonathan) have recorded another podcast addressing political concerns that Christians should consider. In this podcast, we specifically talk about the major issue of sexuality. We spent some time explaining through scripture what the Christian worldview is regarding the LGBTQ+ lifestyles. We believe the scriptures clearly outline what God thinks about this, along with how God teaches us to respond to it. We also explain why, from a Christian perspective, it is important to consider this issue when voting in the November election. Although not much about this is mentioned much by politicians anymore, we believe that if it is important to God, then it is important to us, as followers of Chirst, as well. Therefore, we should consider this issue when we vote! Want to learn more about Grace Bond Ministries? Check out our website, gracebondministries.weebly.com. A committed Christian, who had previously done some "hard livin' ”, Johnny wrote nuanced songs of faith AND of struggle. This is one of my favourites: The beast in me is caged by frail and fragile bars Restless by day and by night rants and rages at the stars God help the beast in me Sometimes it tries to kid me that it's just a teddy bear And even somehow manage to vanish in the air And that is when I must beware Of the beast in me A folksy take on an enemy we all live with - what the New Testament calls THE FLESH

Hello everyone! Christian and I (Jonathan) are continuing our politics series. On the last episode, "Politics: Where Do We Begin?", we spent some time laying the foundations for political discussions and thoughts. So, I would recommed listening to that podcast first, before listening to this one. On this podcast, we are discussing the topic of abortion. This has obviously become a very heated topic, and it has been for a long time. There are typically two sides of the argument. There is the pro-life side, which defends the idea that abortion is wrong, since it is the ending of a life. People who belive this view, typically see life beginning at conception. Then the argument goes, that if the life begins at conception that an abortion at any stage of the pregnancy would be considered murder of a person. The other major view has typically be called pro-choice. Pro-choice people believe that since an abortion has to do with the body of a mother, then the mother of the fetus should be the sole decider whehter or not to contine the pregnancy. Typically, most pro-choice defenders believe that a baby does not become a person until it is viable outside of the mother's womb. Now, there are obviously some specifics that differ, but these are the main viewpoints. In this podcast, Christian and I talk about the arguments from both sides, give some specific examples, explain the development of the fetus in the woman's body, and give our thoughts on both pro-choice and pro-life. Christians specifically need to know which side of this debate they should stand on. Is it better for a Christian to be pro-choice or to be pro-life. Can you even be a Christian and be dogmatic about one or the other? We also get into some of the new laws that are being voted on in November. No matter which side of the debate you stand on, we believe you will find this podcast beneficial as you hear the arguments from both sides, and as you learn more about the science and philosophy that adds to this discussion. Now, we also know you may have a lot you want to share with us after hearing our thoughts. We just kindly ask that you listen the entirety of the podcast, and then send us an email or a message for further discussion. Greetings! Christian and I (Jonathan) decided a few weeks ago amid the coming election and all that is going on that we wanted to do a series on politics. So, over the next few months, we will be discussing specific politcal topics from a biblical and Christian perspective. In this podcast, we begin the series by discussing the basics of Christianity and its relationship with politics. We've noticed that a lot of Christians get angry and commit sins in the name of their political parties. Christians post ungodly, sinful social media posts, Christians condemn other Christians because of their political beliefs, some Christians just completely try to steer clear of it all together, Christians get frustrated when their pastors don't talk about politics enough, some Christians just don't really know where to even start with politics. Tune in as Christian and I begin this discussion, and give you some Christian, biblical advice on how to handle yourself in the political environment we all live in! The Perfect Christian (Sermon by Jonathan Jenkins)

Does the perfect Christian exist? Often times, we judge other Christians and say they aren't good Christians, or that person isn't really saved. We also will come across many people who call Christians and Christian leaders hypocrites because they fall short or struggle with sin. Other times, we say that certain Christians are great Christian people. Or we will say that person doesn't do anything wrong. It all begs the question: does the perfect Christian exist? Can Christians be good Christians, dedicated to the Lord if they still have struggles with sins? How good of a Christian does someone have to be to be a pastor, church leader, teacher, evangelist, etc. Well in this podcast, I (Jonathan) dive into a passage in Romans 7, where Paul talks about his struggle with sin. I believe in that passage, that Paul gives us characteristics of what a truly perfect Christian is like. Tune into this sermon as I share what scripture teaches about this issue! During the Christmas season, we often here the slogan from Christians: "Remember the reason for the season." Now, this is a good slogan, based on the fact that Christmas day is a day of celebration for Christ's birth. But, did you know there is a possibility that Jesus may not have been born on December 25? Not that it is a huge deal about which day we celebrate the birth of our savior, but it is interesting to research it! Christian and I (Jonathan) have spent some time researching the most accurate birth date of Jesus and shared it in this podcast! We tried our best to give a fair presentation of the data, and to help you begin studying deeper into this topic if you desire! To find out more about what these two terms mean, you'll want to tune in, but in short, this discussion is about the roles of men and women in the church and in the home. Is the role of pastor only meant for men, or are women also allowed to be pastors? What about in a home? Do the roles of men and women complement one another, or are both genders equally designed to play any role in the home and church? Most importantly, what does the Bible teach about this issue? Well, in this podcast, we got really deep and biblical in this discussion with our good friend Lydia, who brought some brilliant insights to this discussion! Welcome to an exciting episode of Grace Bond Ministries! I (Jonathan) have wrestled with the ideas of God having soverign power and humans having true, libertarian free will. On this podcast, I have invited a new colleague, Trent Blake, who is a firm molinist to explain what Molinism is, how it compares to other major views like Calvinism, Arminianism and Open Theism, explaining some scriptures that seem to easily support Molinism and others that are a challenge to Molinism. Molinism is mainly focused on the theological theory of the middle knowledge of God, which is basically that God has full knowledge of what could happen, what would happen and what will happen. If God simply has foreknowledge of these three ideas, then it is possible that human beings could have true libertarian free will. We also discussed Molinism in a practical sense, discussing did God use free will and somehow Jesus's prophecies all come true? Does Molinism help us answer the problem of evil (if God is all knowing, loving and powerful, then why does he allow evil to exist?)? Are we predestined to be believers or nonbelievers, or do we have the free will choice to believe in Jesus for our salvation? Do people die when God determines them to die, or do our free will choices affect how long we live? There are many other topics covered in this podcast, and if you are struggling with understanding how God in His Soverign power works, you definitely will want to listen into this podcast! It is a very deep discussion, but it is a very important discussion. It just may make you rethink how you think about God and His world! It may also get you to rethink the faith if you have rejected Christianity because of the viewpoints of others! If you have any other questions, comments or would like to be on the podcast, email me at gracebondministries@gmail.com ! God bless! Trent Blake is the editor-in-chief of Baseline Christianity (baselinechristianity.com). He seeks to help Christians deepen their love for God and in doing so, equip them to replicate that love to others. Trent is a graduate of Word of Life Bible Institute and is currently taking online courses with Moody Bible Institute for pastoral ministry. Join us as we walk through sin - the reason we believe we needed Jesus from last week and why we choose Christianity. This week we discuss what sin is in the forms of commission (commit an offense) or omission (we should have done something and chose not to. We spend some time talking about where we believe it came from and if we believe it is for all people. We asked whether people were in a fallen state and what that even meant. I (Jonathan) believe the most important part is when we talked about the consequences of our sin. Often hearing others wonder about suffering and punishment for sin and where that will happen - whether here and now on earth or a forward day. Then we wrapped up with talking about the out for sin. Our punishment is placed on Jesus. Thoughts on how to examine based on this week - try to answer these questions and what does the Bible say about them: What is sin? What is sin's impact on me and those around me? Are there any unchecked sins in my life that I should find someone to speak to? What are the consequences of all sins? your sins? (Do you see them differently for yourself than you do for others?) How will you choose to get rid of your sins? (trust a loving Father in Heaven, try to work them out (doesn't work), just continue to sin so that Grace will have to increase) Join us next week as we discuss what is after sin for us.

Neither Sean nor I are all that worried – plenty of podcasts record this way! – but it will be a bit of a change, and if you've got any tips, we'd be happy to hear them! Enjoy! It's the BeeBop Tales Season 2 Finale! Can you believe it? Why, it seems like only yesterday, BeeBop was eating all of my valuable and sentimentally meaningful art, but it's turned out that's nothing compared to what he's lived through. In today's episode, we see him face down Dr. Perkolator, who, we learned last episode, seemed to have betrayed him. And BeeBop manages to answer a listener question about squid armies at the same time. All in a day's work. This is it for us until September. Thanks so much to everyone who has listened, written in, phoned in, sent us art, voice memos, etc. Griffin and I (Jonathan)—as well as BeeBop—are so grateful. BeeBop will be back with a couple bonus episodes, but we'll see you soon! We always love art and jokes sent to earth@finncaspian.com. And don't forget about Griffin's Sound Club! Send yours! You can also, of course, call our voice mail: 773-683-3166. If you have a second, and can rate or review the show in iTunes, we would be so grateful! It really helps get the word out. The intro/outro music is called Moondots and Polkabeams by Podington Bear, and was used via Creative Commons license. The Alien Adventures of Finn Caspian is a sci-fi story podcast for kids, and is proud to be part of the Kids Listen collective of makers of quality audio for kids. And please do send us anything you like. We'll use it on the show! You can also shoot us an email or call 773-683-3166.

In keeping with yesterday's quick squib about Limekiller, here's another short piece of review/commentary, this time about Kim Stanley Robinson's Aurora. With all of the conversation about Hugo Awards at the moment, I (Jonathan) am tempted to make some brief comments about books, stories and other works that I feel are nomination-worthy and that may make my own ballot next year. It is possible that I won't follow through on this, or that the latter half of the year will be such that I won't get to do more. It's also possible that these will get folded into the main podcast (I certainly don't intend to keep bombarding you with new content like this every day), but for the moment here's a sample of a possible 'Jonathan's Personal Thoughts on Possible Hugo Nominees' series. Please, if you have a moment, drop me a note in comments or on Twitter to let me know what you think of the idea for the series and if you'd like to see more.
