Benson and Stabler look for a killer who met his victim on an anonymous dating site. They arrest Peter Butler, who's been having quickie sex all over town. The detectives link him to the strangled victim and an unsolved rape, but the physical evidence clears him of those crimes. But they learn Peter is HIV positive and, in a fit of misogyny, has been intentionally infecting women. Cabot charges him with spreading the disease. While on trial, one of his victims sprays acid on his face, leaving him permanently scarred. It's not until Peter's kindly grandfather teaches him a lesson on compassion that he takes responsibility for his actions. We're talking about SVU season 11 episode 11 "Quickie." Our guest from our May 6, 2020 episode is Brandie Posey from the Lady to Lady podcast. This episode is inspired by the real-life case of Nushawn Williams. Restless Sanctuary Episode 12: Getting salty? This week James and Albert talk about Jesus's invitation to be the salt of the earth! What does salt do? And what are we doing? How much salt is too much salt? What does Jesus's analogy teach us? They discuss chemistry, inequality, getting ‘salty', balance, compassion and a dehydrated society. Listen every fortnight to our new podcast about faith, restlessness and the search for meaning! James Cathcart and Albert Bogle from Sanctuary First share what it's like to be restless Christians, wrestling with the Bible and spirituality as they try and live it out today. Right now our world is very restless — politically, economically, culturally, technologically and environmentally. We are living through an age of disruption and upheaval. Many of us are longing for a sense of sanctuary, for belonging, and direction to help us face new and unprecedented challenges. At the root of Christianity James and Albert uncover a restlessness in God's heart that mirrors our own. A deep longing and restless love that searches out for each one of us. We glimpse God in the faces of one another in need and in God we glimpse our own human yearning for wholeness and love. James and Albert reckon Jesus offers sanctuary and respite for our restless souls, but that it is often a restless sanctuary, a temporary makeshift shelter in a world that we are called in turn to go out and love. The ship in their logo, designed by Jack Steel, is itself a restless sanctuary on the open water — not a shelter from the storm but a shelter through the storm. Join them every fortnight for fascinating discussions about being restless Christians in a restless world! The series is a collaboration between James Cathcart and Albert Bogle and features the track ‘Symphony of Lies' by The Bogle Band. References: The book James refers to in this episode is Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat by Samin Nosrat. The song lyrics Albert quotes are from ‘Isn't it Pity?' by George Harrison. Understand asthma in athletes, including environmental triggers, gender disparities, and symptom differentiation. Q: Is there a correlation between working in an area with chemical plants and developing asthma? A: Living near chemical plants, such as Pasadena High School, can lead to a higher incidence of asthma due to pollutants. These pollutants can damage tissues and cause respiratory issues, mimicking asthma symptoms. It’s not typically an age-related development but rather an environmental factor. Q: Why do boys seem to have a higher incidence of asthma and injuries in athletics compared to girls? A: It is possible that the higher incidence of asthma and injuries in boys is due to a greater number of boys participating in athletics. We often diagnose asthma in children who are going to be athletes, and this demographic tends to be more boys than girls. A true genetic cause for this difference is not currently known. Q: Is there a reason why Black individuals have a higher incidence of asthma? A: A 2008 study indicated that Black individuals have higher incidences of asthma, followed by White individuals, and then Hispanic individuals. The specific reason for this disparity is not fully understood at this point. Q: Among triggers like exercise, allergens, and pollution, does one impact asthma more significantly than others? A: The impact of asthma triggers varies by individual. All of these factors can trigger asthma. For example, some individuals with allergic asthma may experience more severe reactions in rural areas due to pollen, while others may be more affected by industrial air quality problems in urban settings. Allergen tests can help determine an individual’s specific triggers. Q: How often are upper respiratory infections (URIs) confused with asthma? A: URIs are likely to be confused with asthma, especially in younger patients who have not been tested for asthma. In emergency room settings, albuterol is often administered due to its low risk and typical effectiveness. If a patient improves with albuterol, it can lead to a presumption of asthma or bronchial hyper-responsiveness. Q: How would you encourage an athletic trainer (AT) if they are unsure whether an athlete truly has asthma or is just out of shape? A: It is challenging to differentiate between an athlete being out of shape and having asthma, as the symptoms can be very similar. Increased access to medical professionals for diagnosis is encouraged. Athletic trainers should promote education about asthma. It can be a difficult situation, particularly if a coach suggests a student is feigning asthma to avoid participation. Q: How much does an asthmatic baseline cost, and how beneficial is it for an athletic trainer? A: An asthmatic baseline device can be beneficial, especially for younger athletic populations, and can be purchased from retailers like Amazon. These devices can be reused if properly cleaned between athletes. Establishing a baseline helps athletic trainers objectively assess an athlete’s lung function, determining if intervention or rest is needed before play. Q: When establishing a baseline for an athlete, should it be tested daily, or only when the athlete feels slowed down? A: An asthmatic baseline should be established out of season, before the season starts when the athlete is having a normal day and not experiencing symptoms. It should be retested approximately once a year to account for changes in fitness levels and lung capacity as the athlete grows and develops. It is not necessary to test daily, only at the beginning of the season to gauge their baseline. Q: How does acid reflux mimic asthma symptoms? A: Acid reflux can mimic asthma, especially in younger individuals who may not be able to articulate their symptoms precisely. They might point to their chest, similar to how they would for cardiac issues, instead of explaining the burning sensation associated with acid reflux. This can lead to a misinterpretation of their discomfort as asthma. Honestly, that tracks for Unearthed Arcana. Show Notes We dive into the latest villain-themed Unearthed Arcana subclasses and immediately get distracted by the Path of Lament Barbarian. The idea of a rage-fueled warrior powered entirely by emotional devastation is way too funny for us not to lean into, especially once we realize the subclass is actually pretty solid at crowd control. We spend a lot of time imagining a Barbarian loudly sobbing while enemies desperately try to escape the situation. From there we move into the Warrior of Venom Monk, which gives us poison powers, battlefield control, and several opportunities to question Wizards of the Coast's relationship with poison immunity. Once we notice the subclass can swap poison damage into acid damage, things get considerably more interesting and considerably more ridiculous. Linoleic acid (LA), a ubiquitous omega-6 fat in Western diets, may directly influence aggressive cancer growth by activating specific cellular pathways, according to recent animal research High levels of LA, found predominantly in ultraprocessed foods, vegetable oils, and many packaged snacks, may contribute to cancer risk The research shows that triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) cells in animal models thrive on LA because it appears to trigger mTOR signaling, a pathway linked to rapid tumor growth To support cellular health, consider reducing your daily LA intake by less than 5 grams per day by limiting ultraprocessed foods, nuts, seeds, and conventionally raised meats Swapping high-LA foods for more stable, healthier fats and targeted carbohydrates may support energy production and may help lower the inflammatory load that research associates with cancer progression

Contours brings together New York–based producers and DJs Abby Echiverri and Clay Wilson for a four-track 12” on Acid Camp. The record moves across acid house and techno, unified by a clear craft for pressure, pacing, and machine-driven tracks, with moments of restraint that hold up far beyond the dancefloor. Wilson opens the A-side with “Interdimensional Romance,” a science fiction workout that threads together acid echoes of Chicago, Detroit, and New York. “Nightride” follows with a more laid-back approach, rooted in acid yet softer around the edges, with a subtle '90s pull. On the B-side, Echiverri's panned synths on “Chaos Terrain” vividly wax and wane across layers of LFOs. “Roche Lobe” closes the record in a more spacious mood—another acid-minded piece, less aimed at peak-time utility than at the late-night afterglow of the club. Together, the four tracks understand acid not as a fixed formula, but as a flexible language. These are the songs of the underground clubs on Arrakis. See you at the front of the speakers. Contours is released as a 12” on Acid Camp Records.

https://jo.my/0tifisBattery Charging Station SafetyA battery charging station can look quiet. A charger hums. A pallet jack sits parked. A forklift waits for the next shift. But behind that quiet setup, real hazards can build fast. Hydrogen gas. Acid splash. Damaged connectors. Blocked eyewash stations. Small misses can turn into big injuries.Good safety culture means we don't wait for smoke, sparks, or a burn to start caring. We build habits before the trouble shows up. That's how a facility protects its people, its equipment, and its production schedule. Here are a few tips to assist you with Battery Charging Station Safety: Keep ventilation working and clear. Lead-acid batteries can release hydrogen gas during charging. That gas can collect near ceilings or tight corners. Make sure the charging area has proper airflow, that vents are not blocked, and that fans or exhaust systems operate as required by your facility's safety guidelines. Control ignition sources. No smoking, open flames, grinding, or sparking tools near charging stations. Hydrogen gas can ignite quickly. Fast. Dangerous. Preventable. Keep signs visible and keep the area free from anything that could start a fire. Wear the right PPE every time. Battery acid can burn skin and eyes. Use the required face shield, safety goggles, acid-resistant gloves, apron, and proper footwear when handling batteries, acid, or connectors. Don't rush this step. PPE only works if you wear it before the splash. Inspect connectors and cables before use. Look for cracked insulation, loose plugs, frayed wires, corrosion, or signs of overheating. A damaged connector is more than an equipment issue. It can shock, burn, or start a fire. Report problems right away and remove damaged equipment from service. Keep eyewash stations ready. An eyewash station must be easy to reach and use, and free from boxes, pallets, trash, or parked equipment. Check the flow, cleanliness, and access as required by your facility. In an acid splash, seconds matter. As always, these are potential tips. Please be sure to follow the rules and regulations of your specific facility.A safe battery-charging area doesn't happen by chance. It happens because people respect the hazard, follow the process, and speak up when something looks wrong. That's the kind of culture that keeps crews whole and facilities moving. So take the extra minute. Check the airflow. Put on the PPE. Clear the eyewash path. These are simple actions, but they carry serious weight. The best safety wins are the ones nobody sees because the injury never happened.Thank you for being part of another episode of Warehouse Safety Tips. In this episode of the Crazy Wisdom Podcast, host Stewart Alsop sits down with Tyler Cloutier, founder of Clockwork Labs and creator of SpaceTimeDB. They explore how SpaceTimeDB functions as more than just a database—it's essentially a distributed operating system that merges server logic with data storage, enabling real-time applications and time-travel capabilities. The conversation ranges from the technical architecture of databases and operating systems to the philosophy of distributed systems, touching on everything from Unix and Linux to how SpaceTimeDB could revolutionize AI-generated software deployment. Tyler explains how their system reduces the complexity of building real-time applications, makes deployment simpler for both humans and AI agents, and why games like their MMORPG BitCraft Online drove them to create this new infrastructure. They also discuss the future of the internet, the role of bots in gaming, and how SpaceTimeDB fits into the broader landscape of cloud computing alongside tools like Cloudflare, Vercel, and Docker. For more information, visit spacetimedb.com or check out Clockwork Labs on GitHub and Twitter.Timestamps00:00 Stewart introduces Tyler Cloutier, founder of Clockwork Labs, discussing the origin of SpaceTimeDB's name inspired by Einstein's theory and its time travel capabilities that store all operations indefinitely05:00 Tyler explains SpaceTimeDB as more of an operating system than a database, using tables instead of file systems while running code in a sandboxed environment with full atomic properties10:00 Discussion of how SpaceTimeDB replaces both Node.js and Postgres by merging web server and database functionality, eliminating separate deployment concerns15:00 Tyler explains JavaScript execution through Chrome's V8 engine and JIT compiling, leading to Node.js creation for server-side JavaScript development20:00 Explanation of stateless web servers versus stateful game servers, and why games require in-memory state management for real-time performance25:00 Tyler introduces reducers and real-time subscriptions, questioning why more applications aren't real-time when state changes should update immediately30:00 Discussion of Facebook as essentially a text-based MMO, comparing social media architecture to game server requirements and the need for unified systems35:00 Tyler explains ACID properties in databases: atomic, consistent, isolated, and durable, using game item trading examples40:00 Comparing SpaceTimeDB to smart contract systems without cryptocurrency or global consensus, positioning it as a smart database with centralized trust45:00 Tyler reveals SpaceTimeDB uses 43% fewer tokens than Postgres for AI-generated applications, making it valuable for vibe coding platforms50:00 Conversation shifts to bots in games and proof-of-human concepts, with Tyler proposing biometric systems and discussing potential in-person gaming applications55:00 Closing discussion about tracking AI-driven traffic through UTM parameters and finding SpaceTimeDB at spacetimedb.comKey Insights1. SpaceTimeDB is fundamentally a database that runs application code directly inside it, combining what traditionally required separate systems like Postgres and Node.js. Users compile their application logic into WebAssembly or JavaScript and upload it to run within the database itself. This architecture provides high performance because the entire server backend operates inside the database environment. The system also features time travel capabilities, storing every operation and change to data persistently and indefinitely, allowing users to set application state back to any earlier point in time. This makes SpaceTimeDB more accurately described as an operating system rather than just a database, where the abstraction is that everything is a table rather than a file.2. The inspiration for SpaceTimeDB came from building BitCraft Online, an MMORPG where all players exist in a single persistent world and rebuild civilization together. Traditional MMO backends required complex custom solutions to handle real-time state, with game servers storing state in memory and periodically writing to databases. This complexity existed because games cannot afford the latency of constantly delegating to distant databases like traditional web applications can. SpaceTimeDB solved this by making the database fast enough to handle real-time requirements directly, eliminating the need for separate game servers. This same performance advantage that benefits games also applies to web applications, which is why SpaceTimeDB evolved from a game-specific tool to a general-purpose platform.3. SpaceTimeDB functions as a distributed operating system where each database acts like a process in an actor model system, similar to Erlang or Scala Akka. Databases can send messages to other databases and be spawned across a cluster for horizontal scaling. This represents an overlay operating system running on top of Linux rather than competing with it, providing a distributed abstraction across many machines while Linux handles device drivers and hardware support. The vision is for the cloud to function as a single enormous computer running one operating system, where developers simply publish their programs without managing separate services, deployment, routing, networking, or persistence infrastructure.4. The real-time capabilities of SpaceTimeDB address a fundamental limitation in how most web applications work today. Traditional web servers are stateless, delegating all state to databases and accepting network round-trip latency for each request, which is why users often must refresh pages to see updates. SpaceTimeDB allows queries to be subscribed to, maintaining open connections that stream changes whenever query results update. This makes applications like Discord, Facebook, or banking systems naturally real-time without requiring page refreshes. The historical accident that more things are not real-time represents a problem SpaceTimeDB solves by unifying the web world with the game world's real-time requirements.5. SpaceTimeDB implements ACID properties—Atomic, Consistent, Isolated, and Durable—ensuring database operations are reliable and safe. Atomic means operations either fully happen or not at all, preventing issues like item duplication in games when trading between players. Consistent means declared invariants like unique usernames are always enforced. Isolated means concurrent operations do not interfere with each other. Durable means changes persist even if computers restart, with varying levels from in-memory on one machine to disk storage across multiple geographic locations. These properties are managed through reducers, functions inspired by React Redux that fold changes into application state incrementally.6. For AI and large language models, SpaceTimeDB offers significant advantages in building and deploying applications. Testing showed that creating applications with SpaceTimeDB uses 43% fewer tokens compared to Postgres implementations, costs less, has fewer bugs, and is easier to extend. This matters because the primary cost for vibe coding platforms is tokens. As more software gets written in the next twelve months than ever before, there is insufficient focus on infrastructure required to run all this AI-generated software. SpaceTimeDB positions itself as ideal for LLMs to target because of its simplified deployment model where developers just publish code and the system handles everything behind the scenes.7. SpaceTimeDB can be understood as a smart contract system without cryptocurrency or global decentralized consensus. Like blockchain smart contracts, it executes code with atomic, consistent, isolated, and durable properties, but avoids the expense and slowness of requiring all computers worldwide to agree on everything. Instead, it offers centralized trust where users trust Clockwork Labs not to modify deployed contracts, rather than the trustless but extremely costly blockchain approach. This makes it functionally similar to Cloudflare's durable objects but with full relational database capabilities. The system exists before the networking layer where Cloudflare operates, handling deployment, server, and database functions while Cloudflare could provide DDoS protection in front of it.

Mariavittoria Mangini, known to many as Maria, is a nurse-midwife, scholar, psychedelic historian, and longtime advocate for the preservation of underground psychedelic knowledge. Maria's life intersects with several crucial streams of modern psychedelic history: early LSD culture in the Bay Area and at Millbrook, the Haight-Ashbury Free Clinic, Esalen in the 1970s, the work of Stanislav Grof, the emergence of midwifery and nursing as practices of care, and the long, complicated passage from psychedelic prohibition into the current renaissance. In this conversation, we explore: • Maria's first encounter with LSD as a teenager, • The strange mixture of recklessness and reverence that shaped early psychedelic exploration. • Her years at Esalen and her encounters with figures such as Stanislav Grof, Gregory Bateson, Leo Zeff, and others. • The relationship between birth, death and psychedelic experience • Her doctoral work, Yes, Mom Took Acid, and what long-term psychedelic users told her about social responsibility, and care for the larger world. • Her work in medical cannabis, and what today's psychedelic movement might learn from the successes and failures of cannabis legalization. • The founding of the Women's Visionary Council • Her relationship with Ann and Sasha Shulgin, whose partnership helped shape the modern psychedelic imagination. • This talk was originally recorded in a live format created by the Shulgin Foundation, and hosted by Stacey Blanke. The shulgin foundation is an organization dedicated to preserving and extending the legacy of Alexander “Sasha” Shulgin and Ann Shulgin. Sasha Shulgin was of course a visionary chemist credited with creating more than 150 psychedelic compounds and helping identify the distinctive psychological properties of MDMA. Ann Shulgin was a writer, artist, Jungian lay therapist, and an early practitioner in psychedelic-assisted therapy, especially known for her work with the Shadow. Cyanuric Acid Isn't Sunscreen… It's a Regulator - Rudy

Pool Pros text questions hereThis week on Talking Pools Podcast, Rudy Stankowitz rips into one of the most misunderstood topics in pool chemistry—cyanuric acid. Starting with a hard truth most pros overlook, the EPA-required label on chlorine products caps free chlorine at 4 ppm… and that's not a suggestion, it's law. From there, the episode dismantles the industry's oversimplified “stabilizer” narrative and replaces it with what's actually happening: cyanuric acid doesn't just protect chlorine—it binds it, regulates it, and suppresses the amount of active sanitizer available in real time. This is where the conversation gets uncomfortable. Because that “perfect” chlorine reading on your test kit? It doesn't tell you how much hypochlorous acid you actually have—it just gives you a combined number that includes both active and bound chlorine. Drawing on research from Richard Falk, CDC studies, EPA modeling, and decades-old equilibrium work, Rudy breaks down how rising CYA levels throttle chlorine performance, slow disinfection, and create a system where pools look fine on paper but underperform in reality. The myth that “pH doesn't matter with CYA present” gets crushed too—because while the impact is reduced, it's still very real, and ignoring it stacks the problem. The takeaway is blunt: cyanuric acid isn't the villain—mismanagement is. Every tablet adds CYA. Every week without dilution compounds the problem. And every pool pro who ignores the FC-to-CYA relationship is operating blind. This episode draws a hard line between surface-level pool care and true chemical control, making it clear that the industry is shifting toward those who understand the science—not just the numbers. Because at the end of the day, you're not managing chlorine… you're managing how much of it is actually doing the work. Your body already makes one of the most powerful antimicrobials on Earth, and almost nobody knows about it.Hypochlorous acid lives inside your white blood cells. When you get cut, burned, or scraped, your immune system sends it to the injury site to kill bacteria, calm inflammation, and support healing. Scientists have known how to replicate it for over a century, but until recently, it couldn't stay stable long enough outside a hospital to be bottled.Justin Gardner spent 20 years launching regenerative medical products, including skin grafts and advanced wound care technologies. He's rescued by the FDNY, greeted by news cameras, and somehow avoids jail by fabricating a story — landing instead in a psych hold. Dave calls it one of the greatest Dopey stories ever before transitioning into an interview with Michael Imperioli, who discusses his early acting career, Goodfellas, working with Scorsese, and the infamous glass-breaking stunt that landed him in the hospital. Plus the Sopranos - and Michael's crazy Lou Reed Fan Fiction - The Perfume Burned His Eyes! All that and more on the Brand new old Greatest Hits Show! PLUS MORE!   Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.

Acid embodies both a playful and hypnotic spirit. Two qualities I think engage and light up a dance floor. In this mix I tried to strike a balance between tracks with interesting sound design, midwest flavoured techno groove and wack out acid lines! DJ Hockey loves music that is strange, beautiful, and energetic. By selecting tracks designed to stimulate both your brain and body, his sets slowly unfurl and reveal a kaleidoscope of colours and emotions. He integrates his queer essence into mixes by selecting tracks with bite and sass —whether that be a jacking and energetic percussive loop, sultry low-end energy, or intriguing ear candy. One thing is certain when experiencing a DJ Hockey set: you're going IN! With well received releases including his debut vinyl release on Fixed Rhythms, in addition to various digital EP's on PPRZ and Modelfuture, DJ Hockey is propelling his signature brand of warp speed techno with his productions and is working on more for 2026. DJ Hockey started PPRZ records and mix series with Adam 2 with the intention to showcase techno from the PNW and beyond.
