Becca Greenberg is a 26-year-old rhinestone artist from Florida who grew up in upstate New York. Prior to getting sick, Becca was very social, had excellent grades, and ran 25 miles a week. Becca was bit by a tick at the age of 9 and was likely reinfected at least once in her childhood. At the young age of 14, Becca became wheelchair-bound and developed an array of symptoms, including fainting spells, dizziness, migraines, sudden onset confusion, slurred speech, nausea, vomiting, light and sound sensitivity, muscle pain, fatigue, left-sided paralysis, tachycardia, hearing loss, vision loss, and hallucinations. Doctors dismissed Becca and told her she was "just going through puberty" or that it was all in her head. Becca's mom posted on Facebook looking for answers and had a friend who was a doctor reach out and say that her symptoms were consistent with Lyme disease. Becca got tested and was positive for Lyme, Babesia, and Bartonella. Bercca treated with her mom's friend for 9 months on oral antibiotics, but she didn't get any better. Next, Becca visited Dr. Daniel Cameron where she got an additional diagnosis of Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and was treated with IV Rocephin and a rotation of oral antibiotics for almost 2 years. At the end of treatment, Becca was completely symptom-free. Becca re-entered life full force and suffered a crash, but she discusses how she skipped the recovery and maintenance faces of recovery and how she's now focusing on that part of her journey. If you'd like to learn how a determined young woman has navigated the ups and downs of Lyme, uses her artwork to bring joy to others, and is giving back to the Lyme community, then tune in now! This funny lady and I met doing a comedy game show about weed! While she lives in LA, she's a true East Coaster at heart. Listen as we chat about casual hookups and dating.
Pod To Five! Oh what a way to post to libsyn! Barely castin' by! It's always makin' and no listenin'! Makes you lose your mind until you hear this week's episode on the woman, the womyth, the wolegend the wone and only Ms Dolly Parton with the (other) one and only Becca Greenberg (@pizzabagelbecca)! We go deep on Dolly's music, writing, and years and years of philanthropic and political work. Beth and Becca do a great job of making sure Brandon doesn't talk about Dollywood too much, which is probably a good thing because he's never actually been so his enthusiasm for the subject outweighs his personal knowledge. If you like this mess go ahead and leave a rating and review on the ol' iTunes box. It's like a complaint box but for nice things about us!
It's here! The first of three spooky Halloween episodes I'm dropping this month. This week I am graced with the return of comedian Becca Greenberg, who first appeared on my first Mother's Day episode! We watch videos about witches, or people dressed as witches more specifically, and have a blast. We talk about haunted houses we've been to and the relevancy of handjobs. Then, following up on her suggestion from our first episode together that I get a massage, I tell her the horror story of my sketchy Groupon massage. Obviously we also talk about witchcraft as well. That one was pretty unavoidable. PLEASE TAKE MY AUDIENCE SURVEY: https://bit.ly/2Yoyb7V Jay (@DietJay) and Becca (@pizzabagelbecca) discuss 2010's The Kids Are All Right, a movie about lesbian parents that sort of glosses over the lesbian part to make a pretty basic romantic dramedy, which Becca felt even more disconnected to based on her own wildly different upbringing by a lesbian couple. That’s right, we're hitting all the holidays here on Can We Talk First? Which is why I've recruited stand up comedian and resident mom expert Becca Greenberg to watch some porn set on Mother's Day. Becca's got two moms, which I assume makes Mother's Day Christmas to her family. We talk about my fear of massages, which surprisingly leads to why I deleted my first Snapchat. Becca talks about growing up with two moms, then we both discuss sexual education in schools. From our combined three moms, we wish you all a Happy Mother's Day!
