Our summer tradition at Here’s the Thing continues, as staff members choose their favorite conversations from the archives for our Summer Staff Pick series. This week, we revisit Alec’s conversation with Richard Kind. Single-handedly redefining the term “character actor,” the accomplished Richard Kind is surely one of the hardest working people in show business. His resume is unfathomably wide and deep, with over 270 film and television credits, spanning roles that exploit his killer comedic timing, like sitcoms “Spin City” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” and those that exercise his dramatic chops, like HBO’s “Luck” and the CBS procedural “East New York.” He’s an actor just as likely to appear in an Oscar-winning feature film as an animated one, to scene-steal a sketch comedy series as to star in an indie short. Kind is also a Tony-nominated stage actor, having appeared on Broadway in “The Producers,” “Funny Girl” and “The Big Knife,” among many others. Richard Kind speaks with host Alec Baldwin about the type of comedians that raised him, how he found his way to the profession after almost attending law school – and why he believes he is the “Costco of acting.”See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Zo gets a call from a man who's voice was familiar. The man had the demeanor of an old friend who was excited to talk to him. He wanted to catch up, sit down and talk about old times. They agree to meet at the bar and, while the man seemed friendly enough, Zo realized that the stranger isn't actually someone he knew or anyone he remembered meeting. Not wanting to be rude Zo carries on with the meeting with this friendly stranger, who's name was Ricky Roma, over drinks about morality, the future, and if there was something that anyone wanted then they should just take it. They should throw caution to the wind. They should give in to their base impulses because you only live once. You can't miss out on the good things in life because of morality or an abundance of caution because that's an easy way to miss out and get left behind. There is no morality. Ricky Roma then pulls out a brochure extolling the bountiful virtues of the Glengarry Highlands in Florida . . . it is a very tempting offer.     Episode Chapters 00:07:21 Opening Credits for Glengarry Glen Ross starring Al Pacino, Jack Lemmon, Alec Baldwin, Alin Arkin, Ed Harris< Kevin Spacey and Jonathan Price 00:15:28 Favorite Parts of the 1992 film Glengarry Glen Ross  01:14:41 Trivia from the office drama - Glengarry Glen Ross  01:21:23 Critics' Thoughts on James Foley's Glengarry Glen Ross  Please leave a comment, suggestion or question on our social media: Back Look Cinema: The Podcast Links:Website: www.backlookcinema.comEmail: friends@backlookcinema.comYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@backlookcinemaTwitter: https://twitter.com/backlookcinemaFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/BackLookCinemaInstagram: https://instagram.com/backlookcinemaThreads: https://www.threads.net/@backlookcinemaTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@backlookcinemaTwitch https://www.twitch.tv/backlookcinemaBlue Sky: https://bsky.app/profile/backlookcinema.bsky.socialMastodon: https://mstdn.party/@backlookcinemaBack Look Cinema Merch at Teespring.comBack Look Cinema Merch at Teepublic.com Again, thanks for listening.

Christina P is holding down the Mommy Dome with Ryan Long, Canadian sketch comedian, content creator, and a man who recently received a cease and desist from a testosterone clinic over a joke photo. Ryan opens talking acting and shares one of his sketch videos, Doyle the OnlyFans pimp who thought he'd be living the life and spends 90% of his day rating strangers' dicks. They also open the show with Alec Baldwin fully losing his mind at over a missing bag in a video that feels like a parody. From there: Ontario passed a law allowing all women to go topless in public, the tits you actually see at the nude beach are not the ones you pictured, and Austin has a shirtless jogging epidemic with zero enforcement of chest hair standards. Plus, a cool gal accepting boyfriend applications on TikTok and Christina and Ryan do their civic duty to find her a man. They also review Cowboys for Angels, a straight male gigolo site that Ryan correctly points out uses completely gender-neutral language. Then a Tulum trip story ends with Christina inserting off-brand suppositories into her hotel mini fridge so they'd stop melting before she could use them, and the cleaning staff tidied the wrappers and put them in a glass jar. She would like you to know they were unused. Finally, Christina's TikTok Curations: a weather reporter who unexpectedly quotes Edgar Allan Poe, a body percussionist who is simply not ready, a man posting his phone number who specifically says not to ask for money, a woman who attempts parkour and lands on her face then immediately says "I'm fine," and a leg hair identity video. They argue that Gates' rationale is unconvincing given his own wealth and influence, while also questioning the broader handling of the Epstein investigation by government officials and institutions.  The conversation expands into speculation about Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, allegations of cover-ups, and criticism of both political parties for failing to fully investigate the case. Throughout the discussion, the hosts express skepticism toward official narratives surrounding Epstein, Gates, and related investigations.

This is a special episode because this is my fresh, hot, and first watch of Beetlejuice. Yes, you read that right. I am a child of the 80s and somehow I have skated through life without seeing this movie. In the episode I explain how and why. Since it's October spooky season, Mikey is along for the ride as an expert in all things scary and/or comedy. I'm here to report that I loved it and I sincerely think that we all identify with Lydia. I feel like I've been channelling her my whole life without knowing it. We get into the amazing FASHION, the stacked cast, and how I was shocked to find out that Beetlejuice was a sleazy salesman and all around weirdo. off-topic rants include: Terminator series, new horror, Tales from the Crypt *released on October 10,2024 Winona Vogue Interview: https://youtu.be/IH1CwEE1QWM?siZRyy5B5jvVZKHG -- Get BONUS episodes on 90s TV and culture (Freaks & Geeks, My So Called Life, Buffy, 90s culture documentaries, and more...) and to support the show join the  Patreon!  Hosts: Lauren @lauren_melanie & Mikey @agentmikey007 Follow Fashion Grunge PodcastFind more Fashion Grunge on LinktreeJoin me on Substack: The Lo Down: a Fashion Grunge blog/newsletter☕️ Support Fashion Grunge on Buy Me a Coffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/fashiongrunge

Alec Baldwin has hosted Saturday Night Live more than anyone else and has also shown up over the years as a frequent guest and special cast addition. For more than 35 years, he's been one of the show's most reliable and funniest presences. Nick looks back at some of his best work, including standout sketches, recurring bits like his take on Donald Trump, and plenty more. You'll hear behind-the-scenes stories and how some of these moments came together, along with full sketches. Highlights include a Glengarry Glen Ross-style meeting at Santa's workshop, a visit from Charles Nelson Reilly on Inside the Actors Studio, a strange diner exchange between a cowboy and a waitress, and, of course, a little taste of Schweddy Balls. It's a celebration of a legendary SNL host. [Ep 176]

"James Bond" is the longest-running and most successful spy film series, with 25 movies released by Eon Productions since 1962. "Mission: Impossible" doesn't have quite as many films with eight to date, but you also have the long-running 1960s television show. The latest challenger to the genre hasn't been around quite as long, but the series of "Jack Ryan" films, taken from or inspired by Tom Clancy's novels, has been going strong since Alec Baldwin starred in 1990's "The Hunt for Red October." After four more movies starring Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck and Chris Pine in the role of Jack Ryan, John Krasinski reprised the role for the streaming series on Amazon Prime Video. Now, Krasinski is bringing his Jack Ryan to theaters with "Jack Ryan: Ghost War." In this episode, co-host Bruce Miller speaks with director Andrew Bernstein, co-star Michael Kelly and stars, writer and producer Krasinski, as well as co-star Sienna Miller. Miller and co-host Terry Lipshetz also talk about the history of the series and spy movies in general. About the show Streamed & Screened is a podcast about movies and TV hosted by Bruce Miller, a longtime entertainment reporter who is the retired editor of the Sioux City Journal in Iowa and Terry Lipshetz, a senior producer for Lee Enterprises based in Madison, Wisconsin.
