Four years ago, Sam "The Man" Burns headlined our Body Werk party at DC9 Nightclub in Washington DC, playing alongside DJ Double 07. We recorded the whole night, and at the time I discussed with Sam posting his set in our Meet the Locals podcast series. I never got round to posting it, as I figured I'd invite Sam to do episode 100 of the podcast. I completely forgot about it until I found it on my hard disk yesterday after I heard the news of Sam's passing. So here it is, never published before, Sam Burns Live at Body Werk March 12th 2016. "This all vinyl mix is from DC House Grooves founder and Body Werk resident Andy Grant. "I'd had a lot of new music come in recently, and figured the best way to get to know the tracks was to record them so I could listen to them in the car. I hit record and put the first record on, not planning on mixing the tracks, but then I kinda got into it, ending up recording this two hour mix. For our bi-monthly Body Werk sessions at Flash, we generally bring several crates of records and jam from open to close, going where the music and crowd takes us. We never know where the journey will make us! This podcast captures my final two hour set of the evening. It had been a relatively slow night at Flash, and I went into my final set of the night spinning a bunch of minimal jams to a small, but enthusiastic crowd. After 30 minutes or so I looked up and the dance floor was packed, and together we went on an unexpected, emotional journey until the lights came on. I’m really pleased with how this came out, and I’m proud to share it with you on the Hooked Podcast.”
