Resurrection Mary is one of Chicago's most famous ghosts and, over the years, a number of "candidates" have been put to answer the question: Who was she? Mary Bregovy, like the girl in the Resurrection Mary legend, had lived on Damen Avenue and had died in an automobile accident in the 1930s. But, despite people who knew her while she was alive having reported seeing her on Archer Avenue after her death, Mary Bregovy didn't look like the girl who is normally described in Resurrection Mary sightings. On this episode, we discuss how she fits into the Resurrection Mary legend.
Lakeview resident Meghan MacNaughton joins the hosts to dine at one of her favorite restaurants, The Bristol. The Bucktown restaurant serves American food with a focus on eclectic menus that include handmade pasta, charcuteries, fresh produce, and as they describe it, a “nose-to-tail approach to cooking.” Chicago Magazine has said that The Bristol also has one of the best brunches in Chicago, and in 2016, the restaurant was included on Michelin’s Bib Gourmand list. Located on Damen Avenue, The Bristol has the feel of a gastropub but with food that has had Chicagoans buzzing for years. The restaurant’s website can be found here, and you can check out the pictures of the food we ordered at the Chicago Dish Instagram page here. If you’re interested in appearing on an episode of Chicago Dish, head over to our Twitter page and fill out the application that’s pinned to the top of the page. We’d love to meet you!
