Pharmacists don't usually sit at the centre of conversations about plant medicine, but maybe they should.Jen and Nick Ravenswood are a husband-and-wife team with deep roots in community pharmacy, and the founders of Rays Wellness, a medicinal cannabis dispensary built on patient care, education, and professional standards.Their journey into cannabis didn't start with hype. It started with a prescription and a system that didn't work the way it should. What followed was a hands-on effort to improve access, raise the bar on patient care, and bring a pharmacist-led perspective into a space that often moves faster than its foundations. With experience across prescribing, education, clinic support, and regulatory navigation, Jen and Nick offer a grounded view of where medicinal cannabis sits today and where it's heading. This is a conversation about partnership, progress, and what happens when healthcare professionals step forward to shape the future, rather than wait for it.Visit www.rayswellness.com.auVisit www.giveandtoke.com.auFollow @giveandtoke on InstagramEmail giveandtoke@gmail.com

Husband of the pod Dale Anderson is BACK, as he, Hayley and Ash recap season 5 episode 24 of PLL, "I'm a Good Girl, I Am". In this episode, Dale coins the haunting phrase "Andrew Pump A Wank", shows off his pipes and wins Australian Idol, and agrees that Ravenswood should have just been Toburky In Socks. Also, the gang collectively agree that because of the Songs Per Second that Hayley and Ashley force into every moment of the pod, this episode MUST and WILL be Megan THEE Most Annoying Episode EVER.You can also WATCH our regular fortnightly episodes on the Call An Adult YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@CallAnAdultWant more Call An Adult? Our guests are Kelsey McClellan and Andrew McClellan, the husband-and-wife team behind Heart & Bone Signs, a Chicago-based studio specializing in gold leaf and hand-painted signage. In this episode, Kelsey and Andrew speak with host Christian Solorzano about their journey from casting aluminum mushrooms together in an undergraduate sculpture class to becoming two of Chicago's most respected sign painters. They share how discovering gold leaf window signs on Michigan Avenue led them to cold-call the man whose signature they found—Robert Frese, who would become their mentor and closest friend in the city. The conversation explores Chicago's sign painting legacy, from the Beverly Sign Co. and the design innovation known as "The Chicago Look" to the ghost signs that still haunt the city's brick walls. Kelsey and Andrew recount their effort to save two 1920s signs from a Ravenswood building slated for demolition—a project that led to their book The Golden Era of Sign Design, a collaboration with Field Notes, and a permanent installation at the American Sign Museum. They discuss the realities of running a business as a married couple, the discipline of practicing simple brushstrokes, and why they believe the energy poured into handmade work is something viewers can sense—even if they can't explain it. The conversation closes with their advice for aspiring sign painters and a reflection on what Chicago stands to lose if its neon and ghost signs disappear.Music by the band Eighties Slang.

We still can't get over (and not in a good way) this infamous Pretty Little Liars Halloween Special — aka the mysterious backdoor Ravenswood pilot. Endless running, girls getting lost (shocker), creepy statues around every corner, and what should have been the biggest reveal of the entire series… yet somehow, it all falls flat and leaves us wanting so much more.Leave us a voice message at (631) 600-3916Send us an email at weareliarspod@gmail.comLet's Connect: Instagram, YouTubeMore Betty Content hereTotal Betty Merch hereJoin our Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/totalbettypodcastnetwork/Music by: Anthony ViccoraProduced and Edited by: Total Betty Podcast NetworkSnail Mail:PO BOX 553Centereach, NY 11720 ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★
Send us a text! We'd love to hear your thoughts on the show.If you've ever felt like your novel is taking far too long—or wondered whether you can keep writing through big life challenges—this conversation with novelist Melanie Schnell will speak straight to your writer heart.Melanie is the author of While the Sun is Above Us, which won both the Saskatchewan First Book Award and the City of Regina Award and has been part of the ELA A30 curriculum in Saskatchewan schools. Her new novel, The Chorus Beneath Our Feet, began with a single, vivid image: two women standing on a tree branch in the middle of a violent storm. That image stayed with her for 15 years, slowly growing into a story about siblings, war, grief, and everything that lies hidden beneath our feet—and beneath our lives. In this episode, Melanie shares how that first image evolved into the fictional city of Ravenswood, a Regina-inspired setting anchored by a central tree. She talks about how research into unmarked graves at the Regina Indian Industrial School, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, mass graves in Ireland, and the history of the British Home Children all fed into the novel's themes of buried histories, family bonds, and unseen networks—like fungi and tree roots—running under the surface. We also dig into her unforgettable characters. Jes, a grief-stricken soldier returning from Afghanistan with his best friend's body, and Mary, his ethereal, elusive sister, form the emotional core of the book. Melanie describes the challenge of getting Jes's voice right, balancing his trauma and anger with real vulnerability, and how early reader feedback helped her deepen both siblings until they felt fully alive on the page.Melanie is candid about what it took to finish this novel over 15 years while raising her son as a single mother, navigating a demanding academic career, and living with chronic illness. She talks about losing the ability to read and write for stretches of time, the frustration of feeling like the book was always moving ahead without her, and the moment an editor helped her finally “see” what the story needed structurally—especially around Mary's voice and the ending. If you're a writer living with chronic illness or other big life constraints, Melanie offers gentle, hard-won encouragement: you are not your illness, and your story is coming from a central, lit-up place inside you that doesn't disappear, even when you can't reach it every day.If you've been wondering whether it “still counts” if your book is taking years to finish, I think this conversation with Melanie will remind you that deep work takes the time it takes—and that the story is still there, waiting, even when you have to step away.

Ravenswood is officially on the map in all it's blue/gray filter glory (seriously, wtf?). Spencer makes a trip there in hopes of getting answers from the ever-mysterious Mrs. Grunwald. Back in Rosewood, Tom questions Ashley and Hanna about his gun and Emily puts herself on the line to help. Aria's stuck dealing with Mike's friend, who has zero concept of personal space, and Shana keeps popping up and leaving us with more questions than answers. Oh and we also get creepy Emily mask!*THIS EPISODE WAS PRERECORDED JULY 2025Leave us a voice message at (631) 600-3916Send us an email at weareliarspod@gmail.comLet's Connect: Instagram, YouTubeMore Betty Content hereTotal Betty Merch hereJoin our Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/totalbettypodcastnetwork/Music by: Anthony ViccoraProduced and Edited by: Total Betty Podcast NetworkSnail Mail:PO BOX 553Centereach, NY 11720 ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★
This episode might be a lousy 2 stars but we're here dissecting it! The girls take a chaotic detour to Cicero College, where Spencer's snooping leads her to a secret phone line and Emily navigates her hoping that Cicero might be a college she could attend. Meanwhile, Hanna discovers a gun in her mom's closet, makes the worst road trip decision ever, and ends the episode with a pair of handcuffs. Aria deals with bee attacks and messy family drama. We also learn of the mysterious Mrs. Grunwald who is tied to Ravenswood.*THIS EPISODE WAS PRERECORDED JULY 2025Leave us a voice message at (631) 600-3916Send us an email at weareliarspod@gmail.comLet's Connect: Instagram, YouTubeMore Betty Content hereTotal Betty Merch hereJoin our Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/totalbettypodcastnetwork/Music by: Anthony ViccoraProduced and Edited by: Total Betty Podcast NetworkSnail Mail:PO BOX 553Centereach, NY 11720 ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★
The time has come to close the chapter on Ravenswood, which the Bros do by revisiting PLL s05e11 “No One Here Can Love or Understand Me,” where Caleb tells Hanna and the audience what happened with that whole pact thing. It's not much.Don't forget, the final book in our Trouble: Girl Detective mystery series is out now! Order Trouble to the Last Drop on Kindle, Paperback, or Hardcover now!
Well folks, we did it. We've completed the first and only season of Ravenswood, an odd, half-baked show that never seemed to know what story it was trying to tell. The finale, in a word, is baffling. At least we got to see lots of Benzo.Don't forget, the final book in our Trouble: Girl Detective mystery series is out now! Order Trouble to the Last Drop on Kindle, Paperback, or Hardcover now!
In the penultimate episode of Ravenswood, Caleb becomes obsessed with a little chapel in the property for no real reason. Luke confronts Dillon and we learn that he sacrificed Olivia to escape The Pact. Mrs. Matheson is drunk. Collins is Snape. Miranda is a loser. God, this is rough.Don't forget, the final book in our Trouble: Girl Detective mystery series is out now! Order Trouble to the Last Drop on Kindle, Paperback, or Hardcover now!
If I may say, this is a pretty good episode of the pod. It's a terrible episode of TV, but I think you'll like the podcast. We're talking about Ravenswood s01e08, wherein multiple scenes take place where a character falls asleep.Don't forget, the final book in our Trouble: Girl Detective mystery series is out now! Order Trouble to the Last Drop on Kindle, Paperback, or Hardcover now!
This week on Ravenswood, Caleb's Uncle Daddy shows up, along with a bunch of plot lines from early in the season that honestly we thought the writers forgot about. Springer is dead, maybe. Tess is evil, maybe. Ray Collins is a sassy bitch, definitely.Don't forget, the final book in our Trouble: Girl Detective mystery series is out now! This week on the pod, it's time for a little “Whoops! This couple we set up has no chemistry! Abort!” plotting in s01e04 of Ravenswood. Caleb has a crush on Miranda, Luke dumps Remy for Tess. Maybe Mr. Collins and “Shelley” hooked up. Whatever, man. Oh, and apparently Miranda has psionic powers now.Don't forget, the final book in our Trouble: Girl Detective mystery series is out now! Although he might use the term “silly little beers,” Mike Schallau's is/was brewing is making some of the most thoughtful and impressive saisons anywhere in the country right here in Chicago. We travelled up to his Ravenswood brewery and taproom to talk about those beers and how he transitioned his nearly six year-old brewing project from using other people's spaces to his own in the last year and how that's allowed him to dive deeper into the wide range of interesting ingredients and experiments he's become known for. We get into the idiosyncrasies of saison from the outside perception of the drinkers of the style, to changing people's perceptions of Brettanomyces, why people are more important than the concept of “terroir,” and how he develops his impressive restaurant and brewery collaborations. But also, there's some throwback talk to his Pipeworks days, a long tangent on Fantôme, a dive into the prison hooch subreddit, some risky urban foraging, and Mike's picks for his essential Chicagoland 6-pack. Beers Sampled Will Be Always Zag Long Thai Double Rainbow (collaboration with Half Acre)
This week on the pod, the Bros have finally made it to the actual Ravenswood pilot. What a weird pilot! There are some new characters, and some new mysteries, but an odd lack of intrigue and atmosphere. Maybe it needed more time in the oven?Don't forget, the final book in our Trouble: Girl Detective mystery series is out now! Order Trouble to the Last Drop on Kindle, Paperback, or Hardcover now!

In this episode of the Real Estate for Breakfast podcast, Ice Miller Real Estate Practice Group partner and host Phil Coover, sits down for a conversation with Joe Smazal, Senior Managing Partner at Interra Realty. Joe brings more than a decade of experience specializing in the sale of mid-market apartment buildings in Chicago. With nearly $1 billion in total property transactions under his belt, Joe discusses his journey in real estate, the nuances of Chicago's vibrant housing market, and the lessons he's learned along the way. The conversation kicks off with Joe reflecting on his career highlights, including his anticipation of hitting the billion-dollar mark in properties sold. He shares insights into the dynamic Chicago real estate scene, focusing on neighborhoods like Lincoln Park, Lakeview, and Ravenswood, which continue to thrive thanks to great fundamentals and places to live. Joe talks about the importance of keeping up in a challenging market, offering insight into deal and pipeline management and maintaining resilience through uncertain times. Phil and Joe discuss Chicago's recent Northwest Side Housing Preservation Ordinance, unpacking its potential impact on property values and the city's housing market. Joe provides a straightforward assessment of the law, voicing concerns about unintended consequences while highlighting the need for balance in legislative approaches. Despite the challenges, Joe remains an unwavering advocate for Chicago, citing the city's thriving cultural scene, robust economy, and strong community appeal as reasons for why it remains an excellent place to invest and live in. The pair also engage in a dialogue on navigating the complexities of real estate in an evolving Chicago market, and why Joe believes staying consistent and focused on the long-term is key to success in the industry. Since joining Interra in 2014, Joe has personally sold over 240 properties, comprised of over 5,300 units, for a total consideration of over $940,000,000. He has helped the firm grow and and gained the respect of his clients through his honest and direct approach and dedication to his clients' interests. Joe has been recognized by his peers in recent years as Broker of the Year – Investment Sales by the Illinois Real Estate Journals; and was a Private Capital Markets Investment Broker of the Year Finalist in the Greater Chicago Food Depository CRE Awards. Founded in 2010, the firm has closed numerous transactions valued in excess of several billion dollars, with clients ranging from high-net-worth individuals and private investors to private equity groups, hedge funds, and private investors.
Even before federal Prohibition began in 1920, a small pocket of what is now Ravenswood and Lincoln Square had already restricted the sale of alcohol. Almost one hundred years after the end of Prohibition, this precinct and all of the businesses in it are still banned from selling alcohol. A ballot measure this election could finally end the century-old law. We speak with Lucia Herrejone, the restaurant co-owner behind the ballot referendum, and 47th Ward Alderperson Matt Martin. If you're one of the 43 million Americans currently living under the crushing weight of student loan debt, that's by design, not personal failure. With the amount of time folks invest in their news feeds, social scrolls, podcasts, and hot-takes, you'd think we'd have a better grasp on “the whole picture.” But we only operate with a partial perspective regardless of the situation or issue. This universal truth pushes many of us toward the false comfort of binary thinking. Podcast host and Professor of Criminal Justice at Plymouth State University Dr. Mark Fischler says we don't have to pick sides. He believes that if we can get comfortable holding multiple truths at once, even if we don't understand them, we can solve society's most distressing problems. GUEST BIO Mark Fischler is an award-winning professor of criminal justice at Plymouth State University in New Hampshire. He is a former NH Public Defender. CLICK HEREWho we areBlock Club Chicago is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit news organization dedicated to delivering reliable, relevant and nonpartisan coverage of Chicago's diverse neighborhoods. We believe all neighborhoods deserve to be covered in a meaningful way.We amplify positive stories, cover development and local school council meetings and serve as watchdogs in neighborhoods often ostracized by traditional news media.Ground-level coverageOur neighborhood-based reporters don't parachute in once to cover a story. They are in the neighborhoods they cover every day building relationships over time with neighbors. We believe this ground-level approach not only builds community but leads to a more accurate portrayal of a neighborhood.Stories that matter to you — every daySince our launch five years ago, we've published more than 25,000 stories from the neighborhoods, covered hundreds of community meetings and send daily and neighborhood newsletters to more than 130,000 Chicagoans. We've built this loyalty by proving to folks we are not only covering their neighborhoods, we are a part of them. Some of us have internalized the national media's narrative of a broken Chicago. We aim to change that by celebrating our neighborhoods and chronicling the resilience of the people who fight every day to make Chicago a better place for all.
