"The Hangover," directed by Todd Phillips, hit the screens in 2009, quickly becoming a cultural phenomenon. This comedic tour de force revolves around a bachelor party gone awry in Las Vegas. The plot hinges on a simple, yet effective premise: a group of friends wake up after a night of heavy partying, with no memory of the previous night and the groom missing. This sets the stage for a chaotic journey filled with unexpected turns. The story follows Phil (Bradley Cooper), Stu (Ed Helms), and Alan (Zach Galifianakis) as they try to piece together the events of the previous night. Their friend Doug (Justin Bartha) is set to get married, but his whereabouts remain a mystery. The narrative unravels in a non-linear fashion, with the trio encountering one absurd situation after another. From a tiger in the bathroom to a baby in the closet, the film keeps the audience guessing while delivering a steady stream of laughs. Each character brings a unique flavour to the mix. Phil is the charming, somewhat irresponsible leader of the pack. Stu, a dentist with a controlling girlfriend, portrays the more cautious and neurotic side. Alan, arguably the most memorable character, is socially awkward and inadvertently causes most of their troubles. His bizarre antics and one-liners provide much of the film's humour. The chemistry among the actors is palpable, creating a believable bond of friendship that drives the narrative. The film's humour is a blend of slapstick, situational, and character-driven comedy. The clever writing ensures that the jokes feel organic, stemming from the characters' personalities and the ludicrousness of their situation. While some gags border on the absurd, they never feel out of place, thanks to the film's consistent tone.Las Vegas is almost a character in itself, its glitzy, over-the-top nature amplifying the film's wild spirit. The cinematography captures the essence of Vegas, from the neon-lit Strip to the seedy underbelly. The city's chaotic energy complements the narrative's unpredictability."The Hangover" redefined the R-rated comedy genre. Its success spawned two sequels, though neither captured the original's magic. It launched the careers of Cooper, Helms, and Galifianakis, and remains a reference point for modern comedies. In conclusion, "The Hangover" is a masterclass in comedy filmmaking. Its clever script, strong performances, and relentless pace make it an unforgettable experience. It's a film that not only entertains but also resonates, proving that sometimes, the wildest stories make the best tales. Please follow the Podcast and join our community at https://linktr.ee/borntowatchpodcast If you are looking to start a podcast and want a host or get guests to pipe in remotely, look no further than Riverside.fmClick the link below https://riverside.fm/?utm_campaign=campaign_1&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_source=rewardful&via=matthew

In this special episode of Rewind & Review we are hitting the road out of town on our own little road trip - on our way to our good friend Mark’s bucks’ weekend (bachelor party/stag weekend). We wanted to celebrate a “Bachelor Party” movie. We also wanted to do a “Road Trip” movie. We found one that was both - The Hangover. Directed by Todd Phillips, and written by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore, The Hangover tells the story of Phil (Bradley Cooper), Stu (Ed Helms), Alan (Zach Galifianakis), and Doug (Justin Bartha), who travel to Las Vegas for a bachelor party to celebrate Doug’s impending marriage. However, Phil, Stu, and Alan wake up with Doug missing and no memory of the previous night’s events and must find the groom before the wedding can take place.
Two days before his wedding, Doug (Justin Bartha) and three friends (Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis) drive to Las Vegas for a wild and memorable stag party. In fact, when the three groomsmen wake up the next morning, they can't remember a thing; nor can they find Doug. With little time to spare, the three hazy pals try to re-trace their steps and find Doug so they can get him back to Los Angeles in time to walk down the aisle.
Hosts Mat Bradley-Tschirgi and William Thrasher discuss The Hangover Part 3 from 2013. Todd Phillips wraps up his comedy trilogy by changing the genre on the audience. Instead of a comedy, we get more of an action heist picture. Mr. Chow (Ken Jeong) has broken out of prison and needs help from his buddy Alan (Zach Galifianakis) to finish off a gold heist. Alan drags his drunken pals along for the ride, but there's a catch. Mob boss Marshall (John Goodman) has kidnapped their hapless friend Doug (Justin Bartha), and he wants Mr. Chow delivered to him on a silver platter. Where does the Wolfpack's loyalties lie? Mat praises the documentary Drunk Stoned Brilliant Dead: The Story of The National Lampoon. It's a comprehensive look at how Harvard Lampoon spun off into National Lampoon, and how they proceeded to make legendary stage revues, books, magazines, and movies. Thrasher enjoys the first half of the Ryan Reynolds science-fiction motion picture Life, but thinks it gets worse the more it focuses on the alien onboard. Groomsmen Alan (Zach Galifianakis), Phil (Bradley Cooper), and Stu (Ed Helms) scour Las Vegas to find the groom Doug (Justin Bartha) before its too late. Thrasher enjoys going to a RiffTrax Live show focused on shorts. Mat is befuddled by the recent revival of The Gong Show hosted by an uncredited Mike Myers in character as Tommy Maitland. Thrasher gives props to the Stan Lee hosted reality show Who Wants to Be a Superhero? Mat recalls watching the odd Dustin Diamond episodes of Celebrity Fit Club. I judge how good a comedy is, by how much I laugh, as well as how much the audience laughs…or doesn’t, as was the case last night, sitting in the theatre, watching ‘The Hangover Park 3’. It’s been two years since our guys…Phil (Bradley Cooper), Stu (Ed Helms) and Doug (Justin Bartha) have had any […]
