The Best Movies You've Never Seen

Wayne's World is the 1992 comedy classic that somehow made the leap from Saturday Night Live sketch to genuinely great cinema — and it absolutely holds up. Mike Myers and Dana Carvey are Wayne and Garth, two heavy metal-loving slackers running a public access TV show from a basement in Aurora, Illinois. When a slick TV executive tries to buy their show and sell it out, the boys go to war to keep it real. It's quotable, it's anarchic, it's self-aware before that was cool — and it launched a thousand "Party on, Wayne" impressions that have never really stopped. If you somehow missed this one, or haven't seen it since the 90s, it deserves a proper revisit. Watch Wayne's World on Fetch — and give it the treatment it deserves on a big screen Hisense TV.

Why haven't we gotten another live-action adaptation since? Well, I think it's time to put on our big hat and talk a lot about that, this week on the DISSECT THAT FILM PODCAST.  Episode Breakdown:

Send us Fan MailOn this 118th episode of the Triple FFF we're going to ease on down the road into my least favorite genre, the musical biopic as we discuss Antoine Fuqua's 2006 tribute to the late great King of Pop, Michael Jackson, cleverly entitled Michael. The film stars Jaafar Jackson — Michael's nephew and the son of Jermaine Jackson — alongside Juliano Krue Valdi as the adult and child versions of Michael respectively,  with Colman Domingo and Nia Long as Joe and Katherine Jackson, plus Laura Harrier, Larenz Tate, Miles Teller, and Mike Myers as the various lawyers, executives, and handlers orbiting the Jackson machine. While a host of no-names inhabit the roles of the Jackson 5 and other random family members who agreed to lend their names or participate in this film.  Joining me this week, to strut his stuff and discuss the finer points of this box office sensation is my good friend, renowned hoofer and MJ mega fan, himself, Dr. David Johnson Before the lights, fancy footwork and hair sizzling pyrotechnics: the synopsis: Michael catalogs the King of Pop's humble beginnings  in Gary, Indiana to success with his brothers in The Jackson 5 to his ultimate rise to global superstardom, ever so briefly highlighting the clashes with his domineering abusive father Joe and record company prejudices while also showcasing quiet moments watching old movies and eating ice cream with his mother or playing Twister with his pet monkey Bubbles.   Does this film have what it takes to earn its sequined socks and glove?  Find out! Watch the video podcast on Youtube:https://youtu.be/3559W7PH8bg

Shrek launched a Dreamworks franchise, won an Oscar, spawned a stage musical, and greatly extended the cultural life of the band Smash Mouth. And it all started with the story of a crabby green ogre, voiced by Mike Myers, who just wants a bunch of fairy-tale characters to stay out of his swamp. The film turns 25 this month, so we are revisiting our conversation about its legacy. Follow Pop Culture Happy Hour on Letterboxd at letterboxd.com/nprpopcultureSee pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for sponsorship and to manage your podcast sponsorship preferences.NPR Privacy Policy

It follows the life of the American singer Michael Jackson, covering his involvement in the Jackson 5 in the 1960s to the 1980s Bad tour. Jackson is portrayed by his nephew Jaafar Jackson and as a child by Juliano Krue Valdi, both in their film debuts. The supporting cast includes Nia Long, KeiLyn Durrel Jones, Laura Harrier, Jessica Sula, Mike Myers, Miles Teller and Colman Domingo.Development began in November 2019, when it was reported that the producer Graham King had secured the rights to produce a film about Jackson, with Logan attached to write. Lionsgate Films announced the film in February 2022. Fuqua was announced as the director in January 2023, and casting began that month when Jaafar was cast; further casting took place from January to April 2024. After delays caused by the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike, filming took place between January and May 2024. After a clause was discovered in a legal settlement, references to the 1993 child sexual abuse allegations against Jackson were removed, the third act was revised, and reshoots took place in June 2025. Studios including Industrial Light & Magic provided the visual effects. The first trailer, released in November 2024, became the most viewed for any musical biopic or concert film. Michael premiered in Berlin on April 10, 2026, and was released on April 24 by Lionsgate in the US and by Universal Pictures in other territories. Phil and Emily are joined by film critic and author Jason Bailey to revisit Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, George Clooney's 2002 directorial debut based on Chuck Barris' unauthorized autobiography. Jason is the author of Gandolfini: The Real Life of the Man Who Made Tony Soprano, now available in paperback.Chuck Barris created The Dating Game and The Gong Show. He also claimed to have secretly killed 33 people for the CIA. Charlie Kaufman wrote the screenplay, Sam Rockwell stars as Barris, and Drew Barrymore and Julia Roberts co-star. Before Clooney made it, the film passed through David Fincher, Darren Aronofsky, Sam Mendes, Bryan Singer, Johnny Depp, Ben Stiller, Sean Penn, and Mike Myers over nearly a decade of development. The three dig into what Clooney kept and what he stripped from Kaufman's original script, whether Sam Rockwell's performance holds the whole thing together, and what Roberts and Barrymore bring to a film that never quite commits to its own tonal chaos. They also get into Clooney's arc as a director, a genuinely promising debut followed by a filmography of diminishing returns, and whether Confessions of a Dangerous Mind holds up as his most interesting work two decades on.Jason says yes, unequivocally. Emily loved it then and is reconsidering. Phil never fully clicked with it. The life of Keith Moon can be seen as Animal from the Muppets or as a dark, psychological odyssey. And the two co-exist in Tony Fletcher's magnificent ‘Dear Boy', first published in 1998, never out of print and now ‘remastered' with new pictures, updates, epilogues and a foreword by Mandy Moon who “has to keep reminding myself this person was my father”. It started as a fun little bracket… and now it's basically a personality test for society.Welcome back to another comedy podcast episode of The Rizzuto Show, where March Movie Mayhem has officially spiraled into emotional damage. We've reached the FINAL FOUR of the greatest 90s movies of all time—and apparently, the internet has decided joy is optional. The contenders? Oh, just a casual lineup of:The Silence of the Lambs (you know, light viewing…)Tommy Boy (Chris Farley = national treasure)The Shawshank Redemption (aka emotional devastation on repeat)Wayne's World (finally, some sanity)So yeah… two comedies vs. two “let's sit in silence after this” movies. What could go wrong? The crew debates whether America is secretly depressed based on voting trends, Learns threatens to emotionally collapse if the fun movies lose, and somehow we all collectively realize that people might actually prefer prison drama over Mike Myers yelling “SCHWING.”But wait—it gets better (worse).Out of nowhere, the Goo Goo Dolls get absolutely obliterated. Specifically:The song “Iris”? Declared overrated. The fans? Accidentally roasted. The band? Still out here catching strays in 2026.We also somehow spiral into:90s nostalgia prize packs (yes, Dunkaroos are involved)Yacht rock appreciation (because of course)Beard-based musical analysis (don't ask, just listen)And a reminder that no matter what happens… your bracket is already bustedIt's everything you want from a comedy podcast:arguments, nostalgia, chaos, and at least one completely unnecessary rant that somehow becomes the highlight.Vote in the bracket, pick your side, and emotionally prepare yourself—because if Shawshank wins this whole thing, we're gonna have questions.Follow The Rizzuto Show → https://linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → https://1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Megateuf ? Excellent ? Schwing ? No ? Je crois que cʹest bon, on est prêt pour Wayneʹs World. He also had amazing facial hair, which led him to a beard contest with unfortunate results and recently to feature in a Lil Nas X video.Jeffrey also appears in Dave's new horror short "As Good As Dead". Dave's journey took him from Northern California to Hollywood where he was an extra in "So I Married An Axe Murderer" (he actually dared to speak to Mike Myers) to performing sketch comedy and developing the show Click This! He also appeared in Erotic Confessions though he remained clothed and his new movie was filmed during the pandemic is now appearing in film festivals all over the world. Dave, Rob, and Kurt are plugging in their guitars and cranking the volume to eleven as they drop the needle on 1992's Wayne's World, the movie that turned public access TV into a rock-and-roll religion. From the opening Bohemian Rhapsody headbang to the immortal cry of “Party on,” this episode dives straight into the movie's glorious chaos. They'll revisit the birth of Wayne and Garth as big-screen icons, the perfectly dumb brilliance of the sketch-to-film jump, and how Mike Myers and Dana Carvey somehow made basement slacker energy feel heroic. Expect love for the cameos, the needle drops, the low-budget charm, and the strange magic that made Aurora, Illinois feel like the center of the universe The guys will also tear joyfully through the endless parade of quotes, moments, and jokes that refuse to age out. Every “schwing,” every fourth-wall break, every awkward pause and sight gag gets its moment under the microscope, with plenty of laughs along the way. Is Wayne's World the most quotable movie of the 90s, a decade already stuffed with endlessly repeated lines? Dave, Rob, and Kurt are ready to put that question on the air, rewind the tape, and see just how many lines still live rent-free in our collective brain. Party time. A spontaneous episode recorded on Moon's day, the night before the Aquarius new moon/solar eclipse, in a Panera parking lot—possibly one spot away from where the Mercury retrograde in Sag transmission was recorded in November. This is the first voice memo ever recorded on the new phone (which isn't that new—it's an old model that someone said was the best phone, and sometimes the new technology isn't worth the money). This episode covers AI overwhelm (Claude AI being down for days, Zoom features nobody asked for, transcription agents joining client calls uninvited), why entrepreneurship is improv, and why the episode that was supposed to drop Sunday (the Magician card, episode 1) is now dropping Friday instead—making it the High Priestess card (episode 2) on Venus's day. Also: why this podcast was built by Uranus (not Saturn), why women wore shoulder pads in blazers when Saturn was last in Aries in 1999, why the best comedy characters come from real life (Linda Richmond was Mike Myers' first mother-in-law), why podcasting is a huge pain in the ass, and why SEO optimization is happening now for the future—not for current listeners.New rules, new energy, new year. Chuck Meehan is Chief Creative Officer of Pavone Group and a veteran creative leader with decades of experience shaping iconic, culture-driving campaigns. A four-time Super Bowl creative, Chuck has worked with global brands and top-tier talent to create work that breaks through noise and pressure.Chuck has led creative teams at major agencies and worked on campaigns for brands including General Motors, Hellmann's, McDonald's, Del Taco and Universal Orlando Resort. His Super Bowl work includes back-to-back GM spots featuring Will Ferrell and Mike Myers as Dr. Evil, as well as large-scale brand activations that extended far beyond the broadcast.Big ideas come from interpreting the brief in an unexpected way and connecting dots others don't see.If an idea can't be explained clearly in one sentence, it's not fully formed.Super Bowl advertising is a six-month marathon that requires protecting the idea through intense internal and external pressure. The most successful Super Bowl spots extend beyond the ad itself into brand activations and social storytelling.Celebrity-driven campaigns only work when the talent serves the product and idea, not the other way around.AI should be used to amplify creative thinking, not replace the struggle and reps required to develop great ideas.In-person collaboration plays a critical role in mentoring young creatives and building strong creative culture.Great creative leadership is about creating an environment where people feel safe to take big swings and learn from misses.   QUOTES “The Super Bowl is the coolest thing and it's the most terrifying thing. And what's hard about it is, a lot of them start in August. So if you make it to February, that's six months of your life.” (Chuck)“If you can survive that gauntlet and somehow get to the Super Bowl with a great spot, it's a Herculean feat for sure. It's an amazing thing and it's a bit of a horrible thing at the same time.” (Chuck)“That (GM Dr. Evil) brand activation actually became a bigger story than even the spot in a sense. So yeah, that was a thing where we just didn't stop at the spot.” (Chuck)“By the Monday after the Super Bowl, the whole world's moved on. Brands looked at that and thought that if I'm spending that much money, why don't I release the spot a week ahead of time and get more out of it.” (Chuck)“When it comes to a Super Bowl commercial, you've got to put three-act story in 60 seconds. That's the discipline. When I've worked with people outside advertising, they don't quite get it. It's a very specific art.” (Chuck)“It's good because over the years, as a creative director, ECD, GCD, CCO, I'm constantly critiquing work. I'm constantly critiquing ideas. And most of them don't get past me, which is kind of the drill. The ones that do interpreted the brief in a way I didn't expect.” (Chuck)“I always tell creatives, show me a different way of looking at something. And even when I've judged shows, it's always the stuff that I'm like, how did they get there? Ninety-nine percent of things I can see where they're going.” (Chuck)“If you can tell me it in one sentence, you have an idea. And if you can't explain it, you don't know it.” (Chuck)

The crew is here—and they brought friends. This week, Amanda and Trevin are joined by Em Schulz and Christine Schiefer, the hosts of the hit paranormal and true crime comedy podcast And That's Why We Drink, for an all-star crossover episode full of petty crimes, questionable decisions, and maybe a ghost or two. Things kick off with an All-Star Dilemmas segment. Trevin recounts a run-in with an angry bald man in Kansas City traffic—and the deeply petty revenge that followed. Amanda's past comes back to haunt her when her daughter rescues a pair of heart-shaped nipple pasties from the trash and proudly adds them to a wall mural. Christine becomes convinced Amanda's daughter Lyla may secretly be BANKSY. Em and Christine bring their own dilemmas to the table. Em faces the ultimate horror: a cruise with their mom and husband… all while sharing a room. Christine opens up about a therapist-recommended book, The Untethered Soul, and how, with the help of an edible, she finally met her inner voice—only to discover it is extremely annoying. Then, the crew debuts an original game created just for ATWWD: Petty or Paranormal. Em and Christine must decide whether a series of increasingly bizarre scenarios were caused by supernatural forces or extremely petty criminals. Topics include Mike Myers on a beach, dirty-talking ghosts, a grudge held beyond the grave, warnings from a time traveler, and attempting to marry a ghost in international waters. To close things out, Em confesses to a petty past involving urban exploring (or, as police might call it, breaking and entering). Christine attempts to incriminate Em through shared memories—only to accidentally point the finger back at herself—before telling an original story. Finally, Christine shares her own personal petty crime tale: The Coat Room Caper. In this kindergarten-era revenge story, a young Christine targets her classmates—especially one taller, more popular girl—proving that a life of petty crime can begin with something as simple as misplaced backpacks. A Cosmic Comedy of Questionable ChoicesWelcome to this episode of The Most Excellent 80s Movies Podcast! Hosts Krissy Lenz and Nathan Blackwell are joined by special guest Robert Fata to dive into the 1988 sci-fi rom-com My Stepmother is an Alien, starring Kim Basinger, Dan Aykroyd, and a scene-stealing debut from Alyson Hannigan. When scientist Steve Mills accidentally sends a signal to another galaxy, he inadvertently attracts the attention of gorgeous extraterrestrial Celeste, who arrives on Earth with a mission—and a magical purse named Bag. What follows is a whirlwind of awkward romance, questionable parenting, and enough '80s excess to power a small planet. The trio explores how this film—written by approximately everyone in Hollywood—manages to be simultaneously charming and deeply uncomfortable. Robert, who loved the movie as a child, confronts it with adult eyes and discovers layers of subtext he definitely wasn't picking up on at age seven. Kim Basinger's committed performance shines as she navigates everything from eating cigarette butts at parties to learning about intimacy through instructional videos provided by her alien AI companion. Meanwhile, Dan Aykroyd plays a widowed scientist who somehow seems less concerned about his daughter's emotional wellbeing than about getting remarried within 48 hours of meeting someone. The conversation delves into the film's bizarre pacing, where a three-day romance feels like both a lifetime and five minutes simultaneously. They discuss Alyson Hannigan's powerhouse crying scenes, John Lovitz's relentless commitment to being turned up to 300%, and the film's curious decision to spend entire minutes on sequences that could have been trimmed while rushing through major plot points. The hosts also grapple with how this movie might be viewed through a modern lens—particularly its treatment of relationships, consent, and the uncomfortably enthusiastic daughter who tracks her father's romantic activity like a sports statistician.Additional Highlights:The scientific accuracy (or lack thereof) of brass buttons creating intergalactic signalsKim Basinger's inexplicable obsession with Jimmy Durante as the pinnacle of human achievementWhy pre-pubescent Seth Green was already fully formed Seth GreenThe film's journey from a pitch about "a dark allegory for child abuse" to... whatever this becameRobert's ratings: 10/10 as a child, 6.5/10 as an adult; Nathan's more critical 4.5/10; Krissy agrees with the 6.5Ultimately, the hosts land on My Stepmother is an Alien being an enjoyable, if deeply flawed, time capsule of '80s comedy excess. It's a film that asks the important questions like "What if rom-coms were made exclusively by and for men?" and "How many writers does it take to make a box office bomb?" The answer to both: probably too many.Deep Cut Recommendations: The hosts share their picks for films that echo themes from My Stepmother is an Alien—from the disturbing art film Under the Skin to the Mike Myers comedy So I Married an Axe Murderer, plus the late '80s TV gem Out of This World.Want more? In "Orchestrating Chaos: Lully's Take on the Top Warehousing Challenges", Joe Lynch and Mike Myers, the Founder and CEO of Lully.ai discuss how to supercharge existing Warehouse Management Systems with bolt-on algorithms for labor and cost savings. About Mike Myers Mike Myers is the Founder and CEO of Lully.ai, a bolt on technology that allows warehouses to ship more orders on time, with fewer resources, using the equipment, capabilities, and systems you already have. Mike's career has included roles at a large apparel brand, multiple national 3PL leaders, and finally a automation firm focused on autonomous vehicles. Mike describes himself as "obsessed with warehouses," and it shows! About Lully.ai Lully.ai helps customers drive both cost and labor savings, by leveraging a combination of simple operating rules and world-class algorithms, all available via API. Their approach enables you to supercharge your WMS without the typical pains of technology integration. Lully's focus is on making the work easier for the team on the floor; less travel, fewer location visits, better utilized equipment. The end result is happier employees and bolstered bottom lines. Key Takeaways: Orchestrating Chaos: Lully's Take on the Top Warehousing Challenges The "Orchestrating Chaos" Philosophy: Warehousing challenges are framed not as insurmountable problems, but as "chaos" that can be "orchestrated" using smart, targeted technology. The core message is that efficiency is found in harmonizing existing equipment and processes, rather than in complete overhauls. Supercharge, Don't Replace (The "Bolt-On" Approach): Lully.ai's solution is a "bolt on technology... available via API." This takeaway emphasizes that warehouses can achieve massive optimization by supercharging their existing WMS without the typical high-cost and painful technology integration, making advanced algorithms accessible and fast to deploy. The Dual Bottom Line Focus: The solution directly addresses the two critical pressures in logistics: driving both cost and labor savings. The algorithms are designed to improve the financial bottom line while simultaneously tackling the labor crisis by making floor work more efficient. Human-Centric Optimization: Lully.ai translates optimization directly into benefits for the floor team, leading to happier employees. Key improvements include significantly less travel, fewer location visits, and better utilized equipment, which reduces fatigue, increases accuracy, and improves retention. Experience-Driven Solution: Mike Myers' diverse background—which spans a large apparel brand, 3PL leaders, and autonomous vehicle automation—provides a unique, holistic, and deeply practical understanding of warehouse operations. This real-world expertise informs a solution that is grounded in operational necessity. The Algorithm/Rules Combination: The technology's effectiveness stems from blending "simple operating rules and world-class algorithms." This suggests that complex optimization is delivered via practical, easily adoptable rules, ensuring the technology is not only intelligent but also simple for floor managers and workers to implement. Maximizing Existing Assets (Capital-Light Efficiency): A major takeaway for warehouse leaders is that the solution helps ship more orders on time, with fewer resources, using the equipment, capabilities, and systems you already have. This focus on maximizing current assets offers a capital-light path to high-performance warehousing. "Allow myself to introduce... myself." Yeah, Baby! We finally talk about Austin Powers on the podcast, and double-featured "Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery" (1997) and "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me" (1999), and yes this sort of thing is my bag, baby! Mike Myers ruled comedy for a majority of the 1990s with hits like "Wayne's World", "So I Married and Axe Murderer", and his shagadelic secret agent Austin (Danger) Powers that had every middle school boy in a chokehold of quotable lines. Way before there were memes, there was reciting iconic lines like  "Do I make you horny, baby?" and  "Throw me a frickin' bone here!" with all your friend group. We talk about the crater these characters left on pop culture of the late nineties and early 00s, the love letter to all of the James Bond movies, and the beautiful women at Austin's side who we were obsessed with (Seriously, did anyone do the 90s like Liz Hurley?), and we'll quote Mindy Sterling's Frau Farbissina (Bring in the FEMBOTS!) until the day that we die! Both movies have so much comedy gold and peak camp going on in them. Are there diminishing  returns as the movies went on? Maybe. Spy Who Shagged Me, while hilarious, is more or less a remake of the same movie, and Goldmember we don't care to revisit. But, well always have a soft spot for Austin Powers the character, and how influential it was for our goofy personalities going into adulthood!  Thank you for listening, and don't forget to subscribe, rate, and review us on Apple Podcasts! www.patreon.com/moviesthatmadeusgay Facebook/Instagram: @moviesthatmadeusgay Bluesky: @MTMUGPod.bsky.social Scott Youngbauer: Twitter @oscarscott / Instagram @scottyoungballer Peter Lozano: Twitter/Instagram @peterlasagna

Yeah, baby, yeah! We've been cryogenically frozen and thawed out in 1997 to explore the groovy phenomenon that was Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery. Mike Myers brought his vision of a swinging '60s spy to life on a modest budget of just $16.5 million, creating a comedy with a vibrant retro aesthetic, pulling inspiration from James Bond, Our Man Flint, and classic '60s films like A Hard Day's Night. It's a clever mix of satire and slapstick, poking fun at spy movies while also creating its own universe.Oh, behave! Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery became a cultural touchstone, introducing catchphrases and characters that defined late '90s comedy. From Elizabeth Hurley's Vanessa Kensington to Myers' dual role as both Austin and Dr. Evil, the film's irreverent humour and physical comedy created something truly shagadelic, commenting on societal changes between the 60s and 90s, addressing how attitudes towards love, sex, and espionage have evolved over the decades. Do I make you horny, baby? The legacy of Austin Powers is more than just catchphrases; it challenged the norms of masculinity and relationships, making him a relatable and beloved character across generations. It's smashing, baby! Alexa, play Soul Bossa Nova!I would love to hear your thoughts on Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery !Verbal Diorama is now an award-winning podcast!
